im gonna have to use tables for my site, theres no way around it. the design is really complicated. if u look at all my images that ive got (they are in my first post) then u might pick it up. so why is it called user1? cant it just be called menu? oh wait i think im starting to get it. so in my templateDetails.xml, if i put like a position called menu, will it show menu in the list of positions and i just put the main menu module as menu? yeah now its starting to make a bit more sense, unless im thinking wrong... ok, so for the positions, is something like this right? <position>header</position><position>navigation</position><position>main</position><position>extra</position></positions> in the header bit is the logo basically. the navigation bit is obviously the navigation (which is on the left side by the way). the main section is in the middle which has the actual content and then. the extra bit is on the right which has the poll, login box, whos online and latest news (just looking throught the modules for them, my add more if i need them or download them) so is my thinking right, is that how it works? oh and sorry for being a pain, this is the first time ive been serious about joomla, im not that good. im gonna buy a joomla book maybe. theres this one i want that isnt out yet that i might buy. oh and by the way, what is the "breadcrumbs" module? lol

Well I decided to learn how to use Joomla so I'm going to make my site with it. I'm using Joomla 1.5 RC3 which I hope by the time my site is done, they will have released the full release. Anyway, I'm working on the template first using http://compassdesigns.net/ for a guide and help. If you go the the page called "Creating a Simple Blank Template" it has about the files needed. One of them is templateDetails.xml which you need to install the template and to make it function and includes all the files required to make up the template. I've gotten up to the <positions> section, I've just finished the files. Now I have no idea what I'm actually meant to put in the positions and position things. Does the CSS have anything to do with it? Because I haven't got round to the CSS yet, this is the first bit I've done. Also, after the positions thing, there's also the params bit. I think that's just for like colour changes of the template and advanced template functions, which I don't think I'll even be using. So if anything needs to go in there, can someone tell me what? So basically I need to know what goes in the positions and if I just put anything like header, navigation, content, extras (those are like the 4 different sections of the site). Thanks in advance.

yeah mine work too now!when i logged into my cpanel earlier on today, it made me put in my email address again for some reason. and then when it went to cpanel, my bandwidth counter worked! aparantly alot of hosts have this problem, it must be a cpanel bug? like a thousand dollars and its got bugs, how sad. lol

i hate AVG so i dont use it.i buy pc cillin internet security every year, its really good, way better than AVG will ever be.i dont like with AVG it just keeps everything it finds in a "vault". its just a hidden folder, so its still there.best thing to do is buy an antivirus, pc cillin is the best in my opinion. norton is meant to be like the best isn't it? i dont like norton much either, its really annoying.

id say if u want something smallish then either kubuntu or ubuntu depending on wot desktop environment u like (kubuntu has kde and ubuntu has gnome)if u want something bigger and better then either fedora or opensuse.although, with only 64 megabytes of ram, you probably would have a hard time running pretty much anything. they would all be too slow. on the linux website (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) u can use the search thing to find a minimalistic distribution.

do acer computer come with arcase software now? i got an acer computer in 2004 and it didnt come with it (the year probably explains the reason, lol)i agree with faulty.lee, i find the acer website really bad and useless. it doesnt help with any problems you have, also, once i had a sound problem and i went on the acer site to download a new driver, the one for sound turned out to be a graphics driver :l

i borrowed a book from a friend which had how to generate a pdf with php. it wasnt exactly as big as yours but anyway. i never tried it because im not good enough at php to do hardly anything.joomla also generates a pdf of the articles and content. i spose u could also go through the code of the pages and work out how to do it from that.

how come ur step dad always calls your computer brick? y cant he just keep it as localhost.i remember when i came to ur house and u had suse. one of the first things i noticed was that it was called brick... i spose if he really wants to...

yeah im having trouble under standing what you mean and what you want.dont domains need DNS?Xisto doesnt deal with uni.cc domains i dont think. did u want ur Xisto subdomain to redirect to your uni.cc domain or something? because thats easy enough.

why do u have an eyetoy camera pluggen in exactly? when i plug mine into my computer it just says theres an error with the hardware.firefox wouldnt use too much memory would it?im just not an expert with linux so i dont no these things really. i would never replace windows with it because in my opinion its under resourced.

about what habble said with the .deb's, i had kubuntu once and because it is based on debian and it uses .deb's, i got rid of it.since my old hard drive is picky, the only distro i could get to work besides kubuntu is centOS. yeah i hate it but its better than kubuntu (well actually probably isnt, but it uses rpm's). still, the only thing ive ever been able to install on any distro is wine. everything else ive tried needs more things and those things need more things. its so annoying.at least with windows u only need to double click something and keep pressing the next button. very few things on windows make u install something else before you can install the program.

ive never heard of a cyber sale monday.then again, probably not an australian thing i gather. i wish it was though and i wish id heard of it, my computer could do with some upgrading.i want a new sound card, i need a new cd/dvd burner and player sicne i stuffed the one i currently have. i want to upgrade to 2 gigabytes of ram and i want a new hard drive. a new graphics card would also be nice. i think im gonna need a new fan in the near future too.

yeah ubuntu only comes with gnome so what else are you going to use, lol. they have different names for editions with kde and xfce.oh and ubuntu is an african word which means something along the lines of human peace. they couldnt help how its pronounced.i wouldve tried ubuntu by now but my cd drive carked it just after i downloaded it, lol.

i had this problem using my usb drive in kubuntu when i had it. i no i fixed it but i cant remember how. i gather its an k/x/edu/go/ubuntu thing. later on i could go on centOS and see wot it does about my usb drive and if it has the same problem then ill try and fix it and tell you how. although i think it works in centOS.lol at least u have ubuntu, i have an iso which im not gonna do anything with for a while. i think we're getting a new cd/dvd drive soon, i hope we do anyway, the computer wont recognise mine anymore and when it did it couldnt read or write from and to discs.

wiis are way better than the xbox 360 and the play station 3.my brother has a wii that i occasionally get to use. im buying one at the start of next year too.how come sony cant come up with a new controller? theyve had the same basic thing since the first play station.

i never use yahoo messenger. i use yahoo for emails cos i love the new webmail design but not messenger.to talk to people i use habbo and msn messenger. when they are offline then i just message them with my phone.i mainly dont use yahoo messenger because no one at my school uses it, its unpopular.

when u buy extra support or warranty or anything like that, youll find that wotever happens, you wont be covered for. those things are generally a waste of money.like when we bought a new car, we bought 2 years extra warranty, turns out it doesnt cover anything that will actually happen, just like far out stuff that is unlikely to happen.when we bought this computer, we bought extra support, all the problems that we had werent covered.i wouldnt let it take priority over everything else.

i use xampp too.its not recomended to use it as an actual server, even apache friends say thet if you want a server then get apache, mysql, php, phpmyadmin and everything else u need separately. xampp is mainly for testing environments.

yeah im gonna buy paid hosting once ive got my site done. the main reason is that this forum is becoming less active and theres nothing to post in or about. another reason is that ill need to access shoutcast statistics and Xisto has blocked accessing ports or something. the main reason i wanna get paid hosting is so i dont have to worry about posting and keeping my credits up.

not the worst virus you could ever get, though its pretty bad by the sound of it.i once got a "spider virus" last year. at least you could get on the computer! i couldnt even load the computer. after the acer screen all i got was a black screen with a smily face. it was a boot sector problem aparantly.anyway, would a partial reformat get rid of it? or u could just go on a live cd and delete lsass.exe from wherever it is.

yeah my bandwidth doesnt update, it just shows 0 out of 10000 megabytes.i have to go to the awstats thing or wotever its called to see how much ive used.everything else works though, just not the bandwidth.

well there is horde and squirrel mail (i prefer horde over squirrel mail)i gather that its wot u mean, webmail software.they are the only 2 free ones i know, the rest i know are all commercial ones.

they also have it even for the yahoo email! its annoying really, every time i send an email i have to type in the code.at least their image works! i cant signup to vbulletin forums for some reason cos the verification images dont load, its annoying.yahoo did have a nice idea though, it stops spammers and spam bots from going round annoying people.
