  1. Yes, I think it's pretty kewl for a free programm, however you can only save to the Sketchups native file when it's unregistered :/When you register it I think you can even model for Grand Theft Auto, not sure about that, or atleast save to another file format and then convert it.It's pretty kewl for basic models or mock ups, (to make 3d models for google earth). And you're only able to create static models. For the beginners a pretty easy to use tool, but for the more experienced one not #1
  2. No I don't think so It requires the .net framework in order to run. Only way to see it on other os's is to emulate it :/ Well for XNA itself I think it's a pretty nice tool. I downloaded their first beta release, don't know if they have made major changes since then but what I don't really like is you have to download an IDE from MS which of course isn't free (30 days trial mode) That really s**** :/ Apart from that it's kewl, Games have to be written in C# which isn't that hard to learn if you haven written something in C++ before. You can use it to create XP oder Xbox360 Games. 360Games only if you pay a little fee, so you can run your code on native 360, which isn't available if you don't sign in Look https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/game-development/ for further informations
  3. NWN refers to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neverwinter_Nights Why don't you just goggle it? It also takes more to create a MMORPG than a point and click editor. If you're new to programming I would advise to step down. If you're for quests and all, make a simple text based adventure first. You won't be disappointed All you need to know is how to print text and how to make some basic loops. This alone should get you busy for some weeks. If you succeed and know what is meant by OOP, dynamic memory allocation, vectors (c++ wise) than you can think about a MMORPG again Trust me you won't get far If you have no previous programming experience, even with some basic script languages that those MMORPG editors use. It just helps you to understand the overall concept behind it It's your decision to take my advise but speak with any other advanced programmer, he will tell you the same
  4. hmm the model is definitely to small, scale it up a bit, so that it's as high as the other train and it's still to easy to figure it out that it is photoshopped :/
  5. very weird :/well I would just clear the list where it stores the blocked programs, maybe you have blocked something important by accident ?
  6. Good points there :)I think they also do it cause no computer is the same thus making it interesting. As every computer is different so is the data stored on it.Maybe you'll find the uber kewl data you are looking for almost like the search for the holy grail. You have no idea where to start but you will try it anywayOnce you find something similar to the "holy grail of computer data" you can brag about it and it makes you feel better, for whatever reason it is?!I think that's the main reason why they target the average user. It's more likely to find something interesting in someones personal computer. The lower security settings on those machines are also a factor. When you try to break into a firms network, the data you will see will be "predictable", at least in some wayAnd it's also more likely that you will be caught. To sum it up, hacking the ordinary people gives the best result with minimal effort
  7. hmm looks like zone alarm blocks all calls from and to the internet after some time of inactivity.Theres an option in Zone Alarm for that, maybe you have set that option, by default it's off :/Open up ZoneAlarm and go to something like "program preferences" right under "firewall". (on the left)I'm sorry I'm using another language version and I can't set it to English to guide you through :/But once you find that tab, you can see the blocking optionThe tab I'm speaking about is on the left, once you click that you should see 2 more tabs in the upper right corner "program preferences" and "programs" (where you can edit the blocked programs)Click on the left of the 2 tabs in the upper right corner and turn the blocking option offHope you understand what I mean ;P
  8. Well, in it's current state it's obvious that it's "photoshoped"The transition between the picture and the model is too hard/sharp.It breaks the overall harmony/illusion of the picture I'm not sure if you want that ;P.I would either blur the train engine model so that it fits the original picture or better, use another background picture, less blurry. The engine model itself is made well but still needs some more details, especially the front. The whole front is very dark and it let it look like its one shapeAdd some geometry and set some highlights. You may want to add some steam on the side, which in my opinion is a must cause I have never seen a black and white film without a train scene
  9. Hey sorry, this might sound ignorant but what's the difference between the programs listed above and the adblock plugin for firefox? That's what I am using, the adblock plugin. It also has a blacklist and can also be updated. It's works fine for my pc and laptop, so what is the advantage of using such programs?Am I right that those programs can blacklist whole sites (domains) where adblock is only capable of blocking certain aspects of the site (popups, pictures)And also since they are blacklisted they don't get loaded (saves bandwith)? But I think adblock restricts certain images from loading too, or will they just simply never be displayed? So the only advantage I see is, If you want to blacklist _whole_ domains you will use such tools.e.g when a popup tries to load a certain domain it redirects you to your own computer?!
  10. Well, 3DSM is major, it's the industry standard and therefor takes its time to learn. When you just want to make static models I would recommend Gmax. http://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/overview It's a stripped down version of 3DSM but it's free and aimed for game dev. Well, another good editor for basic models is Milkshape 3D http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It's shareware, you need to pay a little fee after using it for some days It's up to you what you choose but these are the only ones I can think that aims for basic modeling (with no extraordinary overhead and such)
  11. Good work Vyoma :)For the drawing, did you use a mouse or graphics tablet?and why did you use gimp? part of the competition rules to use open source software? Why did you not use paint.net, its also open source ?(and no its not from M$)Or do you just hate M$ with its .net framework? :DAnyway good work, you can really catch the atmosphere. But I don't really like the hair, they look "bulky" like in the '70s :DI know it's very hard to do correct hair (be it in a 2d or 3d program) so I appreciate your work :DWas it your idea to let look it like a water painting?
  12. Well, most of the extensions work now (at least the most popular ones)including the color tab extension (if we talk about the same one)fasterfox is still incompatibleadblock works fine for me since the 2.0 release
  13. Yes!Thank you so much :)I was looking for that I don't know for how long :/Now that my website is in its late stages I'm in need of itAs said the only downside is that some listed plugins do not work yet under 2.0 :DFF has some neat plugins I must say
  14. \o/Today I browsed throught the mozilla ftp for the ff source and saw the source for the 3 2.0 RC later down the 3 1.5 RC and thought "I would really like to know when they finally release 2.0 they are now at RC3 on 1.5 release this was the last RC and guess what, they released 2.0 some hours later. What a coincidence :PWellRC3 was available for download some days ago.It seems that this version is indeed RC3 now officially gone 2.0 :PI love the new Firefox.I never used any other browser, so I can't really say of what firefox still lacks :PI love the new and improved interface / theme"slick and clean"Many new features in this release I love so much, more than ever my #1 browser :PAnother kewl feature is that you can now klick on a button to restart firefoxautomatically after you installed a new plugin.Ahh yah the plugins.., all my favourite ones work so far with 2.0 \o/I would everybody recommend to download 2.0 and try it out yourself, now that it's official.(PS: I awaited that day since they first announced 2.0 with its features :PI have also not downloaded the previous release candidates to not spoil anything to me )
  15. looking good from the look of the shape it remindes me of this car: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ What I don't really like are the headlights, they remind me of cars (the movie ) :/ They look to friendly. The need to look more agressive like the front bumper The rims look too thin, they could break any momemt at 200mph But that's just my opinion I would also add some details to the tires Overall it's a nice design so far keep it coming
  16. Use Unlocker: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It's an explorer extension. It calls itself automatically whenever the deleting process failed. It frees all the calls to the file, so you can delete it, but it does not work always (atleast for me) You can also choose if you want to delete the file after a reboot. But other than that its a pretty handy program
  17. Well here's mine:-start icq-start IRC-open ff and check some news sites (pc, console, gamdev, psp this usually takes the most amount of time ) +incase there is something interesting -> download it +this also includes forums post at the various sites (including this forums,...wow )-open thunderbird check for emails-sometimes start google talkIf I'm bored I search youtube for funny videos, or listen to some good webradio at happyhardcore.com :PBut I have not that much time available, it's hard to me to say "Get out of the net you have work to do"If I don't recall that everytime, I'm lost for hours -> there is always something new to discover
  18. Looks good but how big is the UV Map and how many poylies does "she" have ?Yah, as said renders too dark, its hard to see anything, try a brighter background, though that will kill the universe feeling :/Instead put it in front of the sund
  19. Yep you can use Max for Levelediting. Splinter Cell 2 or 3 offered that possibility. And of course other AAA Games which I don't remember the name also makes use of max. Well, if you want to do something for HL(2) Max is not the best solution, it's better to use the default editor. HL(2) uses a different editing sheme and does not allow us to use max (it simply isn't designed to be used in Max) For example Splinter Cell offers a whole SDK, where you can place entities/lights right in Max Well yeah as mentioned the only downside is that it is unaffordable for the casual ones :/
  20. They are developing a new Indiana Jones title (PC/PS3/Xbox360).I'm really looking forward to it, the last Indiana Jones was superb :PThey also work on other titles too but don't remember the names :/(like Lego Star Wars )
  21. yep, pretty amazing :PI'm glad you posted it, I read about them 1 year ago and was also on their site even though they were at an early stage that time it looked fantastic. They even topped it now with the new media releases :PBut with all the new fancy stuff that's coming out I wonder if my machine will be able to run it :/I would like to see it running on my pc :/PS: no wonder it looks so good they work in Newport Beach, CA
  22. Wow Google is going for world domination :PThe company's history is quiet spectacular. They started off with a simple search engine way back and now they have:-original Google-Google Code Search (were you can search public code)-Gmail and also Google Talk-Google Earth-Google Video (now with youtube)-Webhosting-various software (sketchup,...)-own OS (still to be released)Sorry if I forgot something, hard to keep track of all googles activities lately :PPretty amazing, I'm awaiting the next big hit from google soon
  23. Well I tinkered around with GBA dev at one time but I dropped it cause I had no gba nor a flash cart. I used devkit arm http://devkitpro.org/ When I write programs I want to use it on native hardware That's why I love programming on my psp, just transfer the files over via usb and execute it Other than that VHAM is also a very good decision I heard
  24. Thanks for your comment guys, some good advises :PThe more I look at the 2 current fonts the more I see that they break the "harmony".Its very hard to find that particular font combination I have in mind :PFor the pixel font I thought of a blocky font with hard edges and the opposite (soft edges) for the feel font but yet looking identical at first sight :PAs said some other good points, I will keep you updated
  25. well, thanks for your comments As for the colons 3D object, it is true that you don't realize it as part of the name rather than a "gimmick". Well I don't mind if someone sees it that way Atleast it spices it up a little bit. But still I will try different angles for the colons The game itself is still in very pre-production. One rule I set to myself is to not use any other libraries than pspsdk. pspsdk is essential to make your code psp friendly. However the PSP was never designed to run unauthorized code. But thanks to some very skilled people in reverse engineering we are now able to run our own code on the psp, which only licensed developers should be able to By pspsdk I mean the inofficial pspsdk. I won't give you an adress, cause I don't know how the forums handel this stuff. So if you want to know more about coding the psp you will have to look for the pspsdk yourself, but anyone with a positive IQ will be able to find it This psp sdk was coded from scratch, however with this library you are able to make an iso loader -> piracy pspsdk just utilizes the psps functions and sadly the psp has built in functions to load an iso , but you can also use the sdk for games or emulators,.... Well as said, one rule I set to myself was to not use any other libraries than pspsdk. There is also a working port of SDL available however I won't use it, which would make things much easier and less time consuming, but I want to make the dirty work myself (e.g. image loading,..) So far I am able to load and display PCX files I'm currently working on OBJ loading. OBJ is used to describe 3D Objects => models If that is done I'll begin with the actual design process like making models, unwrap it and hopefully display it correctly So far the game will be an adventure, I don't say which games can be compared with it as my resources are limited and I don't really want to put my bar unnecessarily high. I could always say :"You will be able to go fishing, take a rest, steal other peoples money,.." but for now my goal is to have a working PCX/OBJ loader and that everything is working fine on the code side. If that is accomplished I can take these examples into consideration Not to mention I will keep you informed e: new version: Well I like it more, except the colons, like the first version more ?!
