I used to do a shitload of modding on phpBB when I was young (~13-15), afterwards I started to cool down .My favourites would be: quick reply mod, statistics and custom title. For bigger boards sub-fora come in handy. That's what I actually miss right now with phpBB 3.0, statistics. Although you can incorporate "mods" like custom title or off-topic bb-code from the software itself through the database.

Google drive is against their policy which showed in their attempts to block it several months back. Or they just did that unconsciously - it would however be unwise to use your main google account for this or rely on the files being there.Nowadays there are sites like orbitfiles.com which host a lot of files for free, and making them publicly accessible or define a password. And in case it's only for your own storage, external hard drives have only gotten cheaper with the years and are more reliable.

This statement right here shows you haven't really used vista, or only glanced at it. Please don't spread FUD when you're inexperienced with a product, it only puts you in the line of the ignorant fools. If you still believe you're correct, then back this statement up. Lots of your games? As in, many? Which ones - I'm sure you're exaggerating on this part. It's rather nice starforce games do not work. Are you aware no other person on earth has donated, or even nearly as much, to charity as him? He's working on his Gates foundation. I guess I was correct in assuming you were lacking knowledge and one of those FUD spreaders. While not directly related to the Windows OS, this is something everyone a bit knowledgeable on Windows versions and news knows. Oh, you mean PLUG AND PLAY. Seriously. It was added since XP and before (although started decent in XP), and there have been plenty of other improvements in Vista. Actually the other way around. Vista Games Achievements is coming up, and maybe the words 'Directx 10' may ring a bell to you. Ah, so Vista is XP with a brand new theme. You only noticed there is a new theme.I'm convinced. You have no idea about Vista at all, I'm assuming you haven't even touched it. Before making more of a fool out of yourself I suggest you read the following - everything-. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Warcraft Iii it was great in the beginning and it still is
Alegis replied to Zlash's topic in Computer Gaming
Did any of you actually do any research before sprouting such comments? The last patch, 1.21a is from January the 22nd THIS year. For a game that has been released the july the 5th of 2002, I think it's rather remarkable it is still getting support. Sure there hasn't been a patch every week (as it is not needed), but not even 2 months ago a patch was dispatched (har har) for a 5 year old game and people start crying already. While their focus may seem to be on World of Warcraft (as they have none other recent releases), a new starcraft release is imminent. -
On Why Java Is 'c'ooler! additions / criticisms invited
Alegis replied to shiv's topic in Programming
There is indeed no 'best' coding language, but the language you are more comfortable with or whichever is more advantageous to the specific project. As a student Information Technology I'm starting to like working with Java. -
I loved the cell-shaded look of Wind Waker. The game looked gorgeous, albeit a bit easy I loved it.Twilight Princess' dungeons were more challenging now. The boss fights were neat, but easy (that is my main gripe with the game). Otherwise it was an artistic beauty and great sword fights and mini-games. I've been playing the snowboard mini-game for quite a while after I finished the game. While it is of course not as revolutionary as Ocarina of Time it makes up in great combat.

Google - Better Before? google is going from good to average
Alegis replied to Zlash's topic in Search Engines
This is nothing new. Their junk was much worse a year ago, before they started "The great culling" of spam sites. For optimal results you can always use a program like Copernic, which searches on dozens of engines and combines the best results. I usually find what I want pretty easily with google or common sense. You can always try out other engines such as MSN or yahoo and compare. -
It's been of course ages since I played it on the gameboy, but for those who wish to catch Mew without gameshark may be interested in this link: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Actually it was quite a nice read on how the glitch works (bottom of the page). Good ol' times.

How To Login To An Expired Windows Xp System
Alegis replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This is piracy. The activation procedure isn't troublesome at all for genuine users to have need to circumvent this.In case you upgraded your motherboard you can call them to upgrade your key. -
Excuse me? Care to give an example of said similiar code? Stating it is different (performance) yet similiar in code isn't consequent, even considering above statement isn't worded well. I think the problem here is that many are unaware of features (which is apparent by them stating it isn't a worthy new version) and FUD that has been spread. Here is a great in-depth review of said features, compatibility, performance, improvements and so on: http://winsupersite.com/windows/windows-vista-0 And btw, 1990 called. They want their $ used for the letter S back.
-
There has been a great deal rewritten which is noticeable in stability and performance. Judging it by looks as was done isn't a bright procedure. What's your point? Give me their statement and why it is false. Else you're resorting to the straw man logical fallacy.

Not correct implication. You assume they are way too high because there are alternative options that are as well an operating system. That is like comparing the fuel usage of a F1 racecar and a sedan because they're both cars. It would be much more reasonable and logical to state WHY they are too high because of the options in Vista, not because there is an alternative contender in the same category. "For example; Aero can run in Linux on a Pentium 2 computer". Which of course is nonsense but would be better than what was written there. It's certainly acceptable to state your displeasure. But when it's done so exaggerated, credibility takes a hit: 800 mhz and 512mb ram is vista minimum requirements. And yes it does install and work then. You'll miss some bling bling (aero etc) but if the NASA is onlu using such computers, or mine which runs it without any problems - shuttles are in for a problem. It's still a consumer product and if you're on a pentium 1 it may be time to upgrade. Also bear in mind that Vista does not gradually slow down after installation the way XP does. It's more efficient. Maybe state which application, and consider it hasnt given proper support yet, but will soon? Try to throw in at least a little bit of data before you bring some 'friend of a friend' tales. It's always easy to badmouth but not so much to do it reasonably. That is the problem, not that it is about vista. More info on this please. ... It's actually noticeable and written about already that install and shutdown/boot times have gotten significant boosts. If you've installed Norton, undo that and watch the boot time decrease. So your conclusion is: 'it looks the same=about same code' . I hope you realize now how wrong that is. --- Too many versions is a pro indeed. It's not rocket science (for your NASA computer! haha!) to understand which version is best for you. But more choice for the consumer is a pro that keeps it cheaper so you don't pay more for extra stuff you won't use. Consider that ultimate were the only version. More options is still a benefit for the user. It does not take much intelligence to distinguish a version. You are a home user? Basic or premium. Real geeks can consider ultimate. It's a cost. And it's certainly worth it. When I ask people what the price should be, they compare it to a game or an application product. It takes either ignorance or blindness to compare them to that in what they do and what the scale of the dev project is. Bear in mind it's an OS over 5 years and there are (oh noes, more versions!) upgrade versions available. Free is always cheaper, but it's not expensive for what it is. I think of the contrary. But it is a big sum of money.

How To Play Mac Games On Windows And Vice-versa
Alegis replied to nhlgoalie2003's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Play mac games on the PC?May I ask to which games you could be possibly referring to then? Super breakout, super breakout 2 and zork aren't really worthwhile to play on PC. As for the other games I'm sure they are ports from their respective PC versions or not as noteworthy at the very least. -
They were deleting in-game character auctions from WoW anyways. By banning however they've ensured a heavy penalty on those who do try. It's better to trade on fora anyways for such stuff and not ebay. An example for WoW characters is this one.

Feeling On Isometric Art Like it or Dislike it
Alegis replied to nathaniel1405241538's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I think it's ok. It's fresh and a change from what I usually see. Although I don't imagine myself staring at such designs for so long. It's something I'd easily grow tired of, and luckily it's not that widely used. -
See that is the point. People think they're better off pirating photoshop because it's capable of more. While in fact, they should be more concerned about usability for an image editing program. I think it's safe to assume that people who ask advice on which version to use aren't as computer literate as us geeks. Otherwise they'd check feature lists and screenshots on usability, or videos (which are plenty). Save them the trouble of pirating a version, downloading more, and looking more for the right tools and how to use them. And yes, photoshop must be one of the most pirated programs ever. But it does help to keep Adobe's formats 'standard'. Still I think people shouldn't proscribe photoshop that much to "the lesser geeks". Ease of use is the rule here for them.

Gmail: Simply The Best Comparations make it clear
Alegis replied to herenvardo's topic in General Discussion
Oh my. Quite generous with drama, aren't you? Actually this should be in quote tags. You obviously just shamelessly copypasted an article. I'm also baffled as to why google is a traitor or rubbish in the article you just pasted? This doesn't make any sense, was looking forward to quoting and debunking nonsense. -
Unnecessary? You make it sound as if a body with the right kit of equipment you want is in front of your toes when you spawn. Nonetheless, the items are cool and players are capable of doing more stuff than in BF2, where vehicle superiority reigned. I welcome this change.

What Is The Best Free Mmorpg That Includes Player Vs Player?
Alegis replied to Takumi-san's topic in Computer Gaming
Ah yes. The reluctancy to spend money on the internet.MMO's tend to be great resource of entertainment and thus lots of hours spent on it. Believe me it is much more worth to check out a retail MMO with a small fee each month than the free korean grind MMOs. Or browsercrap like RuneScape. You might want to try guild wars. It is not an MMO (everything is instanced) but it's focussed on PvP. And the original is exremely cheap to acquire, without online fees. I think that is your best bet if you're reluctant to spend monthly fees. -
It's rather simple, ask yourself the question if the items you supply are worthwhile and would interest customers. A t-shirt with merely your logo on it won't sell well at all, and would be better to just ask for donations then and save yourself the trouble. Find something humorous/cool that is somewhat related to your site. Or not at all. That's not as easy as it seems.

Pre-vista I recommend PartitionMagic. The disk manager utility (control panel) in vista itself provided enough features for me.Although I'm not sure if that Disk Manager was in XP as well.

Windows Vista Beta 2 Public Release
Alegis replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Wait, wha-? And no, that's not what RC's are for. They're not trial versions for the retail product, they're test versions to tweak what is still needed to be done. If you want to try something serious, then install RTM for 30 days. Well do know that driver support now is fantastic for a launch (do not bore me with stories of user A on some forum you visit who's card x doesnt seem to work at full potential yet, I have knowledge of the amount of problem reports with drivers and it's great compared to say, XP). If you want to wait a while (certainly business) while go ahead, but I doubt you'll run into many noteable problems if you make the switch right now. Tweak VI (same devs as Tweak XP) is already released btw, not sure what kind of other tweaks you're referring to that make it worthwhile to wait. Also I see many inaccuracies concering the price. If you run XP it's cheaper to get upgrade version; and home users will probably want either basic or premium. So take premium and thats $180. That's a bit different tag from 450. The shop. Your best bet for free vista in case you're a university student is to check if your university doesnt have some kind of Microsoft software program, like ma3d.com for those in Belgium. -
I like those, bookmarked. Especially the CSS pages with animate option
-
For those who want basic stuff to make signatures, or enhance a photo - I recommend using GIMP rather than pirating Photoshop. You won't make use of extra features and it's easier to use this way. Professional people however will find no problems comparing these versions based on their features list on their websites.
