  1. How can you have genuine Linux? It's free (well for the most part).I suggest everyone gets there updates from thesoftwarepatch.com because they take it directly from the dedicated servers at Microsoft (as far as I am aware).
  2. I must be very boring, I seem to have very unusually weird dreams. Like the other week, I remember flying around a tree (well more like levitating) and then this face, shaped like the First Emperor of China came towards me, and I round-housed it, and it shriveled away. All of my dreams are like this. It's like a compilation of all the images in my head stuck together, and when you have a photographic memory, it doesn't do you any favours. And in answer to your query, no I don't believe dreams mean anything. Call me a boring fart if you wish, but dreams for me are just compilations of images that your brain throws out at you to cope with the stress put on it whilst sleeping.
  3. I see one everytime I look in the mirror, it's like some strange weird tall thing with hair.Anyway, to be honest no I haven't seen anything strange. I just guess that with everything being a roller-coaster ride in my life, I don't have time to hallucinate. Sorry.
  4. You have a few options:Remove the ad iconMake it an unusual sizeThere is no feasible way to stop firewalls from doing their job, we just need to work around them.
  5. I don't think we should continue to call it SLIME, we're going to be hurting it's poor, poor feelings.
  6. Clear, I suggest that you starting making longer posts. Your two-liners won't be treated as contributing to the site and you will find it very hard to get a hosting request accepted, and you are also in the firing line if we have a spammer lockdown. --------------------- Anyway, to answer your question, I would have to say no. I'm personnally not into the whole GOLF thing, which for those that didn't know, was invented in Scotland (Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden). But that piece of useless information won't help here. I like the main graphic, but everything else is mediocre. The reason it didn't work for you yesterday: P.S. Clear, could you also not use L33t language. This is a professional forum, for those that wish to use their noggins. If you find the atmosphere here a little too constricting, then pop over to Xisto, the rules are more relaxed there. --mik
  7. It depends on your signal strength, and the reciever your using. Check that the signal strength reads at Excellent or Very Good. IF not, then that is your problem and try moving your router or laptop. The three will not steal the speed, all of them will have the same speed, as they will take the data from different channels.Try taking your router and software out, and re-installing everything. Also run the diagnostics program in Control Panel > Network Connections > Wireless ConnectionsIf all else fails, contact mastercomputers, he is a freakily knowledgable person when it comes to computing.
  8. Dreamweaver is quite a complicated WYSIWYG (pronounced wiz-ee-wig) editor, but it is the best. It produces clean code and helps you to complete your projects fast and effectively. The only errors in the code it does cause is down to human error. From what you have said, it sounds as though you don't know much about web design/development and looking to jump straight in. Well, I suggest you don't. I did that and it took me at least a year to realise where abouts I should take myself. Firstly, go to THIS WEBSITE and learn how to use the web language HTML to create your web pages by hand. It will take some time and effort, but with patienc and practice you will get there. After learning HTML, you might be tempted to jump into making your web page. Again, I strongly suggest you don't. Instead, start learning XHTML. It is a stricter and more valid version of HTML, and it helps you keep a clean track when developing. To learn XHTML, CLICK HERE Guess what. You still aren't ready to venture the web design/development world. But don't worry, this part is the most fluent section. CSS - Cascading Style Sheets, these are the quintesential back-bone of any good web site. They control all of the styles, formatting, etc of your web page, and also help out a lot when compiling cross-browser friendly websites. To start learning CSS, got to THIS WEBSITE. This may seem a lot for you to just learn how to make web pages, but trust me it is for your own sake, even if it will just be a hobby. ------------------- Once you have made you website and you have all your images and such, it is easier to put them into a compressed ZIP file. The Xisto server can only extract ZIP files, so it's the best one to use. When you get your hosting account, go into File Manager, upload the ZIP file. Once it is loaded, click on it and select Extract Contents from the side panel. Hoping that you have your paths right, it should now be your website. For more advanced tutorials on how to upload your work, when you have an account, just search throughout the forums. Hope this helps, --mik
  9. Well, there is the basic logic set.To search for something using DIFFERENT keywords, then put into the Google search field OR (must be caps) between each keyword. Example:dark blue OR navy blueWill bring up results with the keywords Dark Blue and those with Navy Blue, but not togather. To search for something using EXACT keywords, then put DOUBLE QUOTATION MARKS around your phrase. Example:"hello world!"
  10. When m^e merges your two accounts, soleimanian will become unsuspeneded, and posts from your current account will be put into soleimanian. Well, that is what I hope. You hosting account will become unsuspended when you start posting again with soleimanian.
  11. Grrr. You're the type of person we all don't like. j/k.NEVER EVER EVER EVER HAVE POP-UPS ON YOUR SITE TO ASK PEOPLE TO DO SOMETHING.If they want to make your site part of their favourites, then they will do. If they want to make it their home page, then they will do. If they don't have the technical knowledge, then use simple inline javascript as well as a link to achieve the effect. It is possible to create in document pop-ups, using AJAX, but I aint telling you how, as I do not know myself.
  12. It is healthy competition, but it doesn't bare down too well with those that aren't in line with that company. I have an AMD, so I am peanalised and only allowed to have 5 people in conference.
  13. Never heard of NEC? Strange. They're a Japan based company, that produces many electrical items and especially micro-chips. Most of the micro-chips in my computer are fom NEC. In my country (England), they release many brands of mobile, mostly for use with the video calling network 3.Anyway, after looking at the site, I would not use the firmware update. It will throw your warrantee out of the window with NEC, as you are changing the workings of the product outside the end user range. IF they wanted you to update their hardware, then they would give you the resources.
  14. I'll make this short but sweet. Try having a light background, with dark text and sans-serif font. It helps the eyes to focuse better on the content, rather on the surroundings. Also stops people like me from having outrageous migraines Use a colour scheme that holds some relevance to you as a person, but don't include incessive reds or dark tones. A lighter and more controlled colour pallette is an effective way of doing up your site. Just make sure that the colours are complimentary, and not opposite. The best font set to use is Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif 11px, #000000. It is a good little set, that most sites utilize to good effect. I suggest you take it on board. Your menu clearly does not need to be in individual images. A simple CSS-based designed menu would be more efficient and you could even add CSS rollover styles, you find hundreds of beginner tutorials splattered across this site and billions out there that are indexed on Google. Try not to use fonts that are not user-specific (e.g. Bradley Hand ITC). Never centre align main content. When working with bodies of text, set them to justified, that way it flows flawlessly onto the next lines, looks more professional and again is easier on the eyes and helps the brain process information faster. I would put more, but on my soon to come tutorial, I will have covered most of the design aspect hints and tips. For your development, I guess you used Dreamweaver. It is good to see that you have used DIV layout, but your code is clutterd. I suggest you learn CSS and XHTML to combine your skills. To start learning CSS, I suggest you go to the following address: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp I also suggest you go to CSS ZEN GARDEN (http://www.csszengarden.com/) and read it all fully (including Mezo Blue). Hope it helps, --mik
  15. Look, would you slow down and expand upon your points. You're giving me an headache. Please be coherent. Last time. So, in other words:1. Update the firmware to change the functions of the drive.2. Once it is updated, it will READ and WRITE.As for this Liggy, what are you saying? He said he wouldn't release it but he did? OR that you obtained it from him and passing it on with out his permission?I apologise for taking it as hacking, you didn't exactly tell us everything from the start.

    Contact Form

Personally, I will only use a PHP form to broadcast the information. However, you could also try using google search to try and find pre-made open-source contact forms.
  17. It doesn't matter what it is. All it does is contain simple information, that any basic language can understand.
  18. I collect pennies, then spend them B)I don't really have a collecting hobby, it doesn't really interest me hoarding things.
  19. IF you use logic when creating your site and follow things through in a structured manner, then you PR will rise beyond the confines of word of mouth.
  20. I remember the first time I fired up Dreamweaver, I ran across the other side of the room and pulled the plug. It really did scare me that much. From my experience, I think it would be best for you to start on the coding side, and ignore the WYSIWYG editor.
  21. I prefer MySQL it is almost identical to SQL but with a few changes (improvements). To start learning SQL, I suggest you go to the following address: http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp To download MySQL, Apache, PHP, phpMyAdmin, etc, I suggest you go to the following address: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  22. I have two computers in my house, and one is an AMD processor, the other an Intel.I've tried skype and I know what you mean. I'm confused by how they managed to work it out that you can only have 5 for AMD. Not that I would have five anyway.Activision often releases games that work best on NVidia and fall apart on Voodoo cards. I think it is hilarious that such a thing can be allowed.AMD - Seems fast and loads programs nicely without hesitation. Keeps up with heavy loads and is generally helpful.Intel - I swear my Intel must be alive. Although it is a 333MHz processor, you would think it was 3.33GHz. The way that thing runs is weird. Some days, I can have Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and Fireworks all running with heavy layered graphics as well as several other processes in the back-ground and it runs like a beauty. But then on a evening, it gives in and runs like a donkey, freezing every 2.5 seconds.
  23. Personally, I think that blogs are a good idea. People can choose what they want to share, even if it may be classed as a deep secret or even shameful by others.Information exchange (communication) is a expanding at an extraordinary rate, one that has never been witnessed before. And for us to be with the expansion, for me, shows the good side of being human. The rate of which blogs are growing also shows the band-wagon troubles. As more and more people get into blogs, it lays way for those that will mis-treat others. For example, if a 13 year old girl gives away information about herself and her family, as well as contact addresses or location, then that can unfortunately lead to the growth of child molestation and rapes. As technology grows and humanity expands, we need to constantly remember responsibility. Make sure that we are safe and we keep others safe.
  24. Hahaha. Something I can finally talk about. Firstly, this should be exactly where it is. He's talking about Web Design and HTML, so it is only fitting that it should remain here. XHTML - Get it right the first time People before me have been talking about using HTML. I personally think it is better that one starts with the latest push language - which at the moment is XHTML. It ensures that your code is cleaner and more respectable. Due to this cleanliness, it more often than not, leads to better cross-browser compatibility. To start learning XHTML, I suggest you go to the the following address: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Comments are a working wonder When you have started using XHTML, make sure you comment your work throughout, and structured it properly. There is nothing worse, than opening a source code to find mess and tatter. It's hard to read and slows down future developments. Commenting your work also helps, as you know where things are. To use comments in XHTML use <!-- REPLACE CAPITAL COMMENT WITH YOUR OWN --> To use comments in CSS use /* REPLACE CAPITAL COMMENT WITH YOUR OWN */ CSS is art, simplified Many people will tell you that CSS design is a cross-browser, cross-computer efficient approach to design. This is true. Unless you are 100% arrogant. Then it is false. CSS based design can help decrease page load times and efficiently display your stuff. I use CSS based design, along with simple graphics to a good effect. CSS over XHTML formatting is much preferred. For example, stating a font size in XHTML is not the done thing. Therefore, you can control all of that font type with a couple of lines of CSS, and zero-clutter XHTML. To start learning CSS, I suggest you go to the following address: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp Once you have covered that, I then suggest you go to the following address, and read through it properly: http://www.csszengarden.com/ Advanced After swatting up on XHTML/CSS, you may want to try venturing into feature-rich sites. For example, one good direction is Javascript. To start learning Javascript, I suggest you go to the following address: http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp Server Side Scripting PHP, ASP and the other forms are generall Server Side Scripting. PHP is arguably the better course, depending on your uses. If you are wanting to go professional, then most clients/employers will look to see i f you have any SSS knowledge, and how good that knowledge is. PHP allows you to create almost anything, from online games, to complete Content Management Systems (CMS). ASP is generally used for heavy handed things, like Shopping Carts and mass database control. To start learning PHP, I suggest you go to the following address: http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp To start learning ASP, I suggest you go to the following address: http://www.w3schools.com/asp/default.asp Graphics As well as using CSS to aid in your design, you may also want to take up the likes of Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Personally, I use Fireworks, it allows me to powerfully control the aspects of my Ultra Keep It Simple Stupid (UKISS) design. However, it is limited to Bitmap and Filter controls. REMEMBER: Javascript and Java are two completely different things. Javascript is a scripting language that allows you to do basic controls on web pages. Java is a programming language that allows you to make applications.
  25. Personally, I can't compare the two now.I like IPB (although I despised it a couple of months back) and the features that come with the latest versions. The graphics of IPB are considerably more thought out and better than vB, as well as the arrangement of the Admin CP. Other functions that make vB squirm are the huge amounts controls, that are inside the Admin CP to change the template.I also like vB, because of the deeper features. vB had the AJAX thing going on before IPB, and also utilized many other features that IPB did not.
