  1. Firstly, Windows Validation only sucks if you are running on non-genuine Windows distro. It is a system for Microsoft to make sure that they only provide the updates and services to those that actually pay for their products. You can't exactly argue with hundreds of employees trying to make henze-meet of their lives and wanting a little money in return for their efforts. The browser is unstable because, by definition, it is in BETA. This means that it isn't a recommended candidate for download. However, they allow it to be downloaded so that feedback can be given and they can fix any problems they have with the software.Channel9 (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) at MSDN is one of the best resources that I have found on their software developments, especially IE7 Beta and it's growing full support for web standards.
  2. Try not using Microsoft products for home security. Much like their other softwares, it probably contains more security loop-holes than it tries to protect.I love AVG and McAfee VirusScan.Try using anti-spyware softwares like Adaware or Spybot: Search and Destroy (be careful not to activate the system shield on the second one).As for the topic, you only run into trouble if you keep your eyes closed and try and search for naturally dangerous things, like m^e's example of serial number. Of course it is going to bring up serial number sites, that are more often packed with spyware and adware.I think in Google's quest for new search algorithms, it should include math to detect anything that is malicious. It would probably take the spiders longer and they would be more bulky, but it would ensure the safety of the user, and thus highten Google's own market rank. For example, they could have another field in the results table which shows Red, Amber or Green for the warning level. Much like integrating the Firefox SiteAdvisor extension.
  3. Ganesh, you should take the time to make sure what you are putting is actually what you are thinking, as m^e and I believe that you put something that you didn't mean. We believe you meant you have FOUND a cracked version of IPB on the internet, and that it was easy getting it.However, bare this in mind, anyone USING a cracked version of IPB risks being sued by Invision Board IPS Inc, because believe it or not, they find out which sites are running non-licensed versions of their software. They probably use bots to search, although their exacting methods, I am unaware of.Astahost's crediting system was developed by OpaQue (founder/owner/administrator). It is a very 'smart' system, the likes I have not seen before. Asking questions on the credits system's back-end isn't classed as spam. However, if your questions have been answered and you repeatedly ask them, then we will class it as spam.phpBB is a very unstable and security flawed system. They release patches on an almost regular basis, hence proving that there are many security issues just waiting to be blown open. I do like th administration logic, however when you try out other (paid) BBS you find that whilst PHPBB offers an intuitive ACP, it doesn't have as many features as the likes of IPB.To be truly honest, I am thinking about making my own BBS using XHTML 1.1 Strict and CSS1/2/3 with div tags. Although this is in the long-term, at least I would know what was going on and where.
  4. IT would be better if you made a site and hosted it at SourceForge, as soon as you got your first RC.Looks interesting, although I agree with Trekkie, you would be better off using Linux Kernel rather than VISOPSYS.
  5. Firstly, Google Trends are very useful. The graphs and key data information are very helpful to online businesses, to see what products they sell are being searched for. What is Google Sets? Google produce services based on what the current market and prospected market are/will demand or request. They don't just produce things for the fun of it (unless it is the April Fool's Jokes) and they certainly don't do it without careful research. Do you really expect a company as large as Google to waste millions of investments into technologies, just to have the be 'USELESS'? Just because you can't see why they do things, doesn't mean that they are stupid. In future, I suggest you take your time when answering and make sure you think about what you are saying. P.S. Sort out your paragraph structure, your posts aren't poems, so enjambment isn't needed.
  6. I don't think there is real decision to be made.Desktop computers are generally stronger than laptops. For this reason, I like desktops for gaming and graphics. However, laptops or notebooks do have the fashion/gadget feel about them. They are good for creating documents and watching movies/listening to music.
  7. I didn't realise CPanel supported GZip and RAR formats.
  8. Cool logo, although if I were you, I would make sure that I used JPG, so that there wouldn't be any colour loss.I didn't realise this topic was here or I would have had a go.Whatever you think of it, just let me know. I'm a big boy, I can take criticism.GIF Version (colour loss) JPG Version (no colour loss) P.S. I copied Moonwitch's logo and re-jigged it a bit and she also helped me get rid of a little design accent.
  9. I thought I had met some stupid people in my life-time, but this is the icing on the cake.Didn't your mother ever tell you to respect the ADMINISTRATOR OF THE SITE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BE YOUR HOST.If she didn't, then I suggest you take it into account next time.Anyway, the server code may be given out free of charge, but if you knew this, then why did you make this post?
  10. Note: Use the HTML BBCode to show HTML(XHTML) snippets by using [ html ][ /html ] (without spaces). Use the CODE BBCode to show any other code snippets (other than PHP/HTML) using the same way, but code instead of html. Interesting article, and very well explained. Javascript tutorial can be found at the w3schools' website (http://www.w3schools.com/).
  11. Those were amazing. They can be classed as digital art, as you are at least using some digital art to texture the objects. Whether you paint a scene or render it, you are still making art. I don't necessarily believe that emotion is needed for art. Thoughts are a more concentrated term. When imitating minimalist art, you have more thought on the subject than emotion.
  12. I would go for the middle option (100Mb/3Gig). Anyway, Xisto.net is a much better deal. Yeah, it has forced ads, but what you get for it is a heck of a lot better, and more stable than this pandela.com.
  13. I've tested most of them, and they all feature nice components and plenty of ability. However, I really don't like the interfaces. It's like they put all of their energies into the Engine (and rightly so) but leave the interface on the rail side. I'd find it easier entering all of the co-ords and distances than using the tools. However, I would go for Blender or Maya. 3DSMax has a lot going for it in the Games sprite world, but leaves little desired for projects.
  14. Apparently, there is an ID10T error out there somewhere I have yet to find it.
  15. m^e, this should be useful for your project thingy that you was talking about.I just hope that Google Extends or allows the program to be extended. It would be a shame to leave at just simple 3D construct.
  16. Nanorobots is not a scientific term for what you are discussing. Nanobots (although it sounds more slang-like) is the correct term. Nanobots are just a part of nanotechnology. Every task you can possibly think of, could be done by nanobots or any other form of nanotechnology. Even breathing, as the scale would be small enough to destroy the excess mucus that people with Systic Fibrosis suffer with. Nanotechnology could even lead to the replication/rebuilding/regeneration of internal body organs. An advantage of nanotechnology is the whole concept. A size so small, that what we believe to be nier impossible now, could soon be achievable. Unfortunately, nanotechnology at a very detailed and complex level is still out of our manufacturing capabilities. I've already outlined possible medical applications of nanobots, but DESTROYING viruses is something that scientists and physicians look forward to. Cancer is a genetic problem. It is caused when a 'faulty' gene in the DNA causes cells to replicate at an uncontrollable speed. Therefore, we can't really 'win the cancer disease'. Mapping the human genome and developing 'cures' for mutations is currently happening, and the use of nanotechnology is not wholey required. Scientists and physicians use enzymes to take away a part of the chromosone containing the defective gene and insert a 'clean' one. The problem we have at the moment is that the human genome has not been completely mapped, nor has the enzymes that can perform that the tasks been obtained. Nanotechnology could be used as a biological tool. For example, on Star Trek, the Borg use 'nanites' (a true word relating to nanotechnology) to changed the blood cells and cause manipulation of the mind and body tissues. Terrorists could use a similar process, which would involve a detenation of a device including the nanites which would infect the surrounding population. Such effects could be instant clotting of the blood to kill painfully or even as a mind control agent. It is almost undeniable that government/federal agencies will employ certain spy tactics using nanotechnology to obtain information. They may even be doing it now. We shouldn't worry about this 'big brother' effect though. There are plenty of laws and human rights to defend us against such a change. I hope I have answered your questions enough. Remember, nanotechnology encompases all nano-related technology (duh). Nanorobots is not a word. Nanites means the same as Nanobots.
  17. Until Linux comes out with a powerful graphics engine, and developers see the potential, I doubt any other Operating System can compare to the years of development that Microsoft have had.I would sooner use a propietrybased operating system to play my favourite games, than to compromise and get a weakend, or playable game. Especially if it cost a lot.
  18. I used Norton BootMagic and Norton Partition Manager.I formatted my hard drive, so that nothing was left. Then I installed Windows 98SE onto it. I installed the norton products and set-up a partition for Windows 98SE and one for Windows 2000 (you could change the partition type to Linux). Then restarted.I kept the 98 Install, and booted through Norton BootMagic onto the empty (Win 2000) partition. Obviously, nothing was there, so I started up my Win 2000 disk and installed it onto that partition. The whole process took me a couple of hours, because I was figuring it out as I went along.
  19. Note: If this content is copied from the magazine, use citation (quote tags).Sounds like a really interesting and plausible method of alternative energy sources.Apparently, a new Solar Tower is being built in the outback of Australia. That too looks magnificant.
  20. Type in Google into the Mozilla Address Bar and it takes you straight to Google. I actually mean type in google (nothing else).
  21. You have all of them possible security-threat mods on a security-flawed phpbb forum software. I thought you were a wiz with security? All mods come with a Readme for installation. Follow it through and it should work fine. If it doesn't come with one, then I suggest you look for one that does. It is so that you can make Registered Members directly through Admin CP.
  22. Sounds both interesting and feasable. However, I have one question. Is this a possible idea to be made realistic, or rather something that is already being produced. I am unclear as to where you are leading this.
  23. 1. m^e answered the first one rather well. However, you could only say whether they were black with white stripes, if you took a look at their dominant/recessive genes (parents/children). 3. Ice and snow are two different things. Snow contains other substances than just Water. Nitrates and Phosphates that are residual in the atmosphere will affect the condition/colour of the snow. Ice is just frozen water. 4. This is very similar to 5, which m^e answered. Boiling and Ignition points are different. Increase atmospheric pressure and the boiling point will reduce dramatically.
  24. I read this a couple of years ago on a rather cool website. How Stuff Works. http://science.howstuffworks.com/antimatter.htm The links page is quite useful, more useful information than what is in the rather old article.
