  1. Giving people access to change a user's profile delimits people's self-confidence and can annoy many. I see where you are wanting this to be in effect, but it is a bad idea.Anyway, you need to make sure that on all of the pages, the Admin Control Panel link is on the bottom of the page (links to Jr Admin CP). If it is not there, then the mod has not been installed properly. It may well be a cause of PHP-Nuke, but I don't think it is.
  2. Interesting idea, but I find it hard to imagine that they will spend millions of pounds on this project for nothing. Who knows what critical information they might store for 20 years, and as far as I am aware, the data protection act only lasts 10 or so, therefore any copyrighted documents within the emails that they will retain will be propiertory to them.
  3. What program are you using? Only windows desktop uses .msstyles
  4. I never knew you as dhanesh before, but I have seen you around as cyph3r, which by the way is a cool username.
  5. Lol, welcome to the community, seems a lot of people are from India, you doing some reconaissance m^e:DIf you want to start a blog here then it will be very easy, as soon as you have enough credits, and have been accepted a hosting account, you can sign into your cPanel (very savy) and use Fantastico - a web application that has plenty of web systems to install, from Community Forums to Blogs and Photo Logs. It even has CMS systems like Mambo (very powerful and better than PHP-NUKE). Yes, the hosting is really free and the service is excellent. You will get issued with a example.astahost.com domain, which you can easily change to anything.com if you buy a domain and point it to ns1.astahost.com and ns2.astahost.com
  6. And if you stick around, you will see how interesting it is.Welcome to the community, and I look forward to seeing your posts.PS, cool username.
  7. First of all, as Ruben explained, as you did not put enough information, I couldn't understand your request, therefore, I found no reason to put any helpful information. If I appeared blunt or rude, then I appologise. Next, I have tried Publisher, Word and a lot more office tools to make webpages and they simply did not have the power to make "good-enough" webpages, the output may be almost standard, but they do not have the speciality that is needed. Try using a WYSIWYG editor, one that gives you the functionality of Publisher and the power of true web-designing. For beginners, I would suggest Namo WebEditor or NetObjects Fusion (just google the terms), alternatively, you could find tutorials on the net on how to use Dreamweaver. All of the software I have mentioned comes with a 30-day free trial, so you can decide which one is best. The reason Publisher, Word and other office applications shouldn't be used, is that they are mainly for Print. Publisher is short for Desktop Publishing, mainly used for printed documents. It was designed to be only partially usable for the Internet, and Word, is just the same, but harder to use. As for your original request, I think vujsa explained it well. A great resource for scripts is http://www.hotscripts.com/ just navigate around it and you should find what you are looking for. A slightly detailed tutorial on using PHP can be found at http://www.w3schools.com/ click on the PHP on the menu and it should get you started.
  8. I've tried:Anti-spyware (every single piece that is worth downloading)Anti-virus (again, every single piece that is worth getting)Killbox (it simply copied the files into its folder and left them there, didn't delete squat)Regedit (I couldn't find the reg key for it anywhere)CCleaner (crap cleaner, it took rubbish out, but didn't find anything to do with WebHost)Kicking my computer when it appears. There is something new that is happening now, it comes up with a runtime error, when I debug, it is plain HTML, in a exe file, whoever made this needs their heads checking.
  9. I suggest you don't use Marquee tag. It is an Internet Explorer specific and is not regulated by the W3C. If you are wanting a marquee, use javascript.
  10. You have far too many images, and it takes ages for the page to load. As professional as it may appear, the totalling number of images far outways any prospect of anyone staying for them to load. I prefer text-link menus or image menus that are very short and precise. You can leave the heavy navigation in the actual pages. Because the menu buttons are all single state colours, you would have been a lot better off using GIF Websnap 256 colour, that way, the text would fit perfectly on the background and not get pixel-confusion around the edges. Your header background is great, but you have cluttered it with crap. Cut down the rubbish, keep the text subtle and non-cluttered. Not every menu system has to be made out of images, especially when they are basic fonts. As good as your design skills are, you still have a problem with consistency. For example, some of the text on the images has a shadow, and others don't, try to keep it cheap and cheerful. It took 21 seconds on a 768Kb connection (mine) to load the page completely. Relatively speaking, people will give up at 10 seconds. Those with dial-up will start to get really pissed at 40seconds. Your link to go to the top of the page hasn't been applied. Rating: 3/10
  11. And you are??? A detailed or brief introduction of yourself would be very helpful, afterall, this is the introductions & welcome forum. Anyway, welcome to the community and I look forward to seeing what you have to say.
  12. Your welcome, and twitch is me, I just left a while ago and my account got deleted (with help from m^e). There is no 100% way of protecting your website, you need to just make sure you have every possible security hole closed in order to keep it as safe as possible. Things like the honeypot project are great examples of leading website security. Also use little hints and tips on webmaster sites concerning SQL and the such, like closing instances, etc. I didn't actually realise how insecure a lot of peoples websites are, until I did a slightly long security research.
  13. If you want to go for charitising, then try bignoisemusic.com/ I preferred it when it had Oxfam as a promotion, but since they got took over, it is, crap (for me).
  14. phpBB Olypmus, or as it is referred to in search engines, phpBB3. You can find screenshots (RC1 perhaps 2) of the new system by going to area51.phpbb.com/phpbb/ and searching around. It looks as though it is going to be freeware version of IPB or vB, but with a little less features. I have tested this forum software (phpBB3) online (can't remember where) and there are a lot of features. The main Admin CP has been re-structured and loads of mods implemented. There is no release date as they believe (a long with me) that it is better not to say when it will be done, that way, they are not under stress to complete the project and don't stand to risk upsetting the community.
  15. Right, I have tried the whole memory wipe and such and still, it re-writes itself. But this time it is slightly different. The files are now Ad (FILE) Ads (FILE) WebHost-2 (EXE) brackets equals file extension, FILE is a generic, no file type So, what should I do, except smash my computer to pieces with a mallet?
  16. No problem, however I wouldn't call it a complete review. There were many more problems, but you need to discover them for yourself.
  17. GoLive adds too many unknown tags, ones that are created by Photoshop slicing. There is a program (well addon) for Photoshop, that allows you to make your image, add the slices and it will export it all into a website for you. I can't remember the name of it at the moment, but I will find out for you.
  18. Thanks for that, I was actually referring the question in order to round off the tutorial, the answer wasn't for solely for me, more for the community.
  19. Background: Your background is excellent, although it might not be the most intracate, it is indeed very well suited to your site genre. It compliments your site well and shows your skill as a designer, even if you didn't make it, you knew which one would look the best. Header: I think your header needs a little work. People often rush their headers and don't spend the required time on contemplating on what it needs, and it would appear as though you are one of those people. When making headings, always use a sans-serif font, and make sure it follows standard sizes. Your header has a lot of information, perhaps too much for its size. I suggest you make it slightly larger an apply some real information to it, stuff that is suited to a header. Information, basic yet subtly intelligent. The woman on your header is fine, infact it is perfect for your genre, however the colour needs some work. At the moment it is too dry, I think a subtle gradient of the tones of black would suite well, even if it is just a gradient. You could make it a little wider to improve the eye-candy aspect. Content: Your content is a little bare. I know it is probably still under construction, but you could have a distinct intro paragraph in order to show visitors exactly what is going on (assume that everyone hasn't the foggiest what your site is about, keep it short and cheerful, but don't treat them as idiots). Something that really annoys me is an explanation of what each menu link means. It is pointless and uses up valuable space. If the description came in the form of a short message (e.g using DHTML to construct little inline tooltips) then it would be fine. Your menu is a little bear. As a logical person, I always like to see a well structured menu that takes me to the root page (index) and throughout the site. At the moment, you only have a half-complete menu, which, doesn't help when you want to return to the homepage. The content you have displayed is centre aligned. Please note that content should only be designed in this way in the following instances: Your website is based around one product (e.g. a book) and is selling it in an un-designed/pre-formatted way. You are giving the header of a simple report. You want to make a shocking statement or to break long lines of text with a quote. All content should go from left to right (unless it is arabic). You don't need to put the updates to your site, they are obvious (even if they aren't people will notice eventually). I can't stand adverts, but they are essential to growth. So, if you do use them, make sure they are in-line with the design. The better way to do this is use AdSense (whatever provider) and customize it to your site colour scheme. Finally, unless you have official documentation, you can not legally hold anything against someone for copying your content without consent. Although it is intellectual property, you may not have it sealed by the court.
  20. PCs are not limited to Keyboard and mouse. A lot of controllers you get for consoles, come in some similar form for the PC, the more obvious one is the joystick, followed by a "pad".
  21. Personally, I do not use the target attribute, as people, like me, always open an external link in a new tab (never new window) and at the moment, opening tabs is browser dependant. By having no attribute set, the browser will automatically open the link by default (or user) settings.I have to agree with Ruben. Robbing features of a window is pointless, say for example, a person has a link to their site and they only want the border to be shown, they will disable the menu, etc. This is pointless in security and functionality. The first of the two pointless notes, security, if you want the window to open fully, it is very simple. Secondly, the functionality or usability is also depreciated, as you don't have the controls to change certain things or reload (unless you know your keyboard shortcuts .
  22. Thanks for clearing up that there are no known leaglity issues. As for the Linux company, I did not mean it in any direct way. For example, you could say the people that develop Ubuntu Linux, Mandrake Linux, SuSe Linux, etc, would be classed as organisations (even if there is no set base, a collection of people working to one goal is in part or whole of the characterisation of an organisation).
  23. That really is a lame excuse. He just can't be bothered in other words.
  24. The only one he has had since the dawn of his existence
