Windows 7 Tips To Fast Operation
yordan replied to chennaipackersmovers's topic in Websites and Web Designing
off-topic : moving to linux does not teach how to speed-up the system or remove unwanted service. By the way, linux has the same problem, tweaking drivers is really not very obvious for beginners. -
Isn't the slow website site also coming from your internet provider? The images have to go out from the host, and then to go on your display, the slow down can also come from your local network area!

Are you talking about removing all the old posts and restart with an empty forum? Do you think that a lot of people will be more interested by an empty forum than by a forum with old posts?

Windows 7 Tips To Fast Operation
yordan replied to chennaipackersmovers's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Very nice, but... where are the tips you are mentioning? -
You should remember that USB devices as well as hard drives often suffer failures. So, remember that each important file should always be in two different places : your PC and an external device, your PC and your phone, your PC and a CD/DVD, your PC and skydrive, etc...

The "chkdsk" trick runs rather fast, is not dangerous and gives interesting infos, mainly if it reports errors!
-
Ha-Ha, right, did you see Ek Tha Tiger last year?

If you are on a windows system, you can check the "properties" of the disk drive, and use the "tools" part which includes a "verify now" part.Simply be careful, windows verifications are sometimes destructive. Before that, in a command line window, type "chkdsk e:" if e: is this hard drive, it will tell you if there are errors. This is non-destructive if you don't use the "/F" (Fix problem) option. :DAlso I would use a defrag tool like "defraggler", in order to see how fragmented your brother's disk is. Fragmentation can explain a very slow disk transfer. And of course the best thing for recovering an old disk is the good old "format" command, which will give you a brand new (and empty) disk.

Cpu Fan Spinning At Full Speed When Pc Is Turned On
yordan replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
Probably depens on many factors. Each PC I had till now does this kind of thing : a lot of span noising while powerup, and the fans slow down as system starts booting. -

At least it was not working the way I expect it to work. -

I would rather say that this behavior is quite normal. At poweron the fans start spenning at full speed until the firmware boots and takes control of the fan speed. I would even say that not behaving that way woud be an issue -
You have to buy a router certified by Microsoft for IE10
-
That's a good reason for having things not working.

Not sure it's obviously a windows7 problem. You should format your vm disk, and install a fresh windows7 (fresh install after format, nothing else), and check the connection. Then upgrade your Internet Explorer to IE10 and check again. Then you will have a reliable diagnostic.

did you try connecting to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ instead of http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ using Internet Explorer?Maybe the fallback from http to https does not work correctly on IE10.

I just moved this topic, this place is where it most probably has to be.
