  1. I don't use a homepage either, when I open my browser I usualy visit different sites, so it has no point to load (and use precious bandwith) a webpage I won't use. I don't use the opera's speed dial feature either, typing the adres or pressing the favicon in my menu bar works great too
  2. There is absolutely no way this can improve your computer... If you push the reset then you do nothing else but clearing every register (caches, memories, ...) in your computer, it doesn't change a thing (in fact, if you turn on your computer, every device receive the reset signal until the clock generators are up and running ...).
  3. Five minutes ? I've seen a C# noob making a browser in less than a minute . The multi-threaded part sounds great, but I doubt it's efficiency. I've seen a lot of statement like this and only a few time they where correct. Looking at some screenshots it looks like this browser has some potential (considering it has features comparable to some very popular firefox plugins), but I'm afraid that the use of the IE-core will limit the amount of people that'll be interested in this browser. @wanggang: if you copy things from website to make it look interesting, than at least copy the interesting parts:
  4. I do agree with levimage, the second and last picture can realy be improved with some simple changes. I hope you don't mind the 1 minute edit I did to show you the difference I do love the second photo, it's a bit soft, but the glow around your dogs head make it look a bit dreamy, it' makes the dog to look even more cute

    Nero Burning Rom

Nero 8 isn't bad, but it's too much software that is organised in a too confusing suite, even burning a simple audio-cd is a pain in the ***. I'm happy with CDBurnerXP Pro and Deepburner, it's does everything it has to do
  6. just out of curiousity since everybody seems to think something different ... rebooting = turning of the power or simply hitting the reset button ?
  7. Actualy, most (free) firewalls are more or less hack secure, so simply installing one of them and configuring it correctly should be enough to make it a lot harder for a hacker to access your pc. The loss of the system32 folder could also be due to a virus or some kind of mallware, so I recommend you to also install a virusscanner.Ps. I'm happy with Comodo Firewall Pro (it's free) and Avast Anti-virus (free also)
  8. If you can convert the mp3 to WAV than you could try VirtualDub, the only hard thing about using it is that you'll have to know the offset (time difference between the audio and video signal).
  9. Why would I ever do that ? It's not like my pc is getting faster by just resetting it a few times, neither will it harm my computer. The only devices in your computer that might suffer a little are the optical drives and your hard disk drive, but even that usage is neglectible.
  10. The last DVD I've watched was "De weg naar Mekka". It's a Dutch documentary where Jan Leyers is looking for the roots of the Islam. It's actualy a very interesting docu, not only to learn some new things about the Islamic relion, but also about how the people in Arabic countries live. The destination of the trip through all the different countries was Mekka, the holy city where non-islamic people can't get through ... I'd rate the DVD 9/10

    Dial Up

I was going to suggest the same thing, but you have to be aware of the prices. In Belgium you get mobile internet for €5/month + €1/day that you connect to the internet. It doesn't seem much, but it can cost you up to €36/month for a rather slow connection and a very limited download volume (1Gb/month)
  12. Even if you have a 12mbps connection, this doesn't mean you actualy get 12mbps. First of all, there are a lot of factors that determine the maximum bandwith you get and the most important one is the distance between your house and the closest street cabinet, the further away, the slower the connection gets. If you are too far away to actualy get 12mbps then I'd suggest you to go to your ISP and get a cheaper connection . Combining two lines is possible, but then you'll have to get yourself a second connection to your ISP and a router that supports load balancing. Running two cables from your router to your computer is useless, the router can only deliver 12mbps so connecting it with a 200mbps line to your computer is serious overkill.
  13. Interesting. Does anyone know what Xisto's policy is for hosting proxy sites ? Does this also generate a lot of (extra) traffic from and to the hosting server or not ?
  14. I haven't tested it myself because I first want to try it on a virtual Vista installation (I also do not have choice because the Vista installation on my laptop is Dutch and SP1 isn't available for that language yet). I've already heared some rumours about the boot-loop not being fixed and a seious rise in memory usage. Time will probably tell us whether this is true or not http://www.madshrimps.be/vbulletin/f22/vista-sp1-problems-bug-some-users-42912/
  15. Please, don't go messing around with your registry if you don't know what your doing. Someone I know started deleting stuff in his registry to get rid of some malware and after rebooting almost nothing worked ... explorer wouldn't start, MMC couldn't load modules, regedit missed a DLL file, folder would appear empty, browsing to some folder was a hell and even system restore wouldn't start anymore making it almost impossible to fix the problem .Lucky for him I had a windows xp live that could restore his pc (okay, I was realy lucky to find the right tool, didn't even know it was in there doing that )
  16. okay, that's cool, I've been looking for something like this for a while (because manualy uploading screenshots takes too much time )Thanks
  17. Naro, you do realise that you aren't asking something that can be explained in 10 minutes, right ? And not only do you need SQL, you'll also need something like PHP, JSP or ASP(X), anyway, here is your SQL query SELECT username, pwd FROM userlist WHERE username = $POST['username']
  18. Might it not be that the xbox is referring to the MTU size that your laptop uses on your laptop's ethernet connection ? At least, that was the first thing that came to my mind when reading your post .

    Comodo Firewall Pro

I've been using this application for a few months now (I even used when version3.0 it was still in beta) and I must say it's a very capable firewall. In test it might not be the most userfriendly, but it seems to be one of the most secure free firewalls. The Defense+ system is a good addition, tough it asks too much questions making it utterly annoying causing me to disable this function.
  20. That was like a ... very short post . Normaly you should add some more information to your post before hitting the reply button .
  21. I wish they would allow us to test it before registring ... It looks nice tough an using all animal-names for their applications is cool (tough it's harder to remember since the names hardly have anything in common with the application behind it)
  22. The worst method of doing this is by using an IFRAME, but don't use it, iframes are old. A better way it to include it into your webpage using PHP. For more info: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.include.php
  23. About the query, you have to do this:SELECT maxhp FROM usersThis returns a list with all the maxhp's from every user in the database. You can run through this list using while or foreach. Check out example #2 here:http://us2.php.net/manual-lookup.php?pattern=mysql_queryYour〈=en&scope=404quickref first problem can be solved using cron-jobs, but I've never used them so I don't know how you can configure them .
  24. No you don't, the only thing it does is caching dns entries, I have it disabled for years and I can still type normal urls .
  25. There are a lot of places where graphic artists can place their results. The first thing that comes to my mind is deviantart.com. A quick search gives gfxartist.com, subvariance.com, ... search a bit on the net and you'll find dozens of good results . Personly, I wouldn't get a myspace, I haven't seen many good myspaces so I guess it's impossible to create a descent myspace page . I think myspace is a bit too commercial too.
