  1. hmm, too be honest, I've seen better forum before .The colors are ok, but realy, organisation (as said in 1st post) is bad. I prefer to give the forum priority, not the shoutbox or credit area.Other downside is the empty space between posts, is this a bug or something ???Ow, and I'm not too fancy with the buttons, just my 2 cents
  2. I haven't read everything, yet, but this is what I think about the AMD or Intel question. Today AMD is the best to get, mainly because it runs a lot cooler and cheaper (consumes less energy) and also possible more quiet. For speed I would also go for an AMD, nowadays they have SSE3 too, but if you go dual core, I would go for Intel (only speed wise) because they offer dual core models at higher speeds. If you go budget, I'm not shure, the Semprons are relatively cheap, and the Celeron D are better than normal Celerons. I'd go for a low speed S939 Athlon64 instead of a sempron or celeron. Price wise; if you are a REAL gamer, go for the FX57, lots of power, lots of overclocking but hiiiigh price. For Dual Core, I'd suggest Intel, because they are cheaper. For Single Core, go for AMD.
  3. Don't do this for the LGA775 Intel CPU's. You realy must check the motherboards website and check for compatibility, because some drain too much power and other need specific chipsets (like the Dual Core P4's). For the AMD64's most will work as long as the socket is the same, if not, BIOS updates will probably ensure compatibility. For the case part, don't take a too small case, cpu's and gpu's produce a lot of waste heat nowadays, so get a well ventilated (but quiet) case. For the PSU, don't link it to office or game, link it to the cpu(s) and gpu(s) and link those to office and game. For the rest, good guide, short, but that's everything a beginner needs.
  4. This is a little trick to surf with less ads. -Step one- Locate the hosts file: WinXP/2K =%SYSTEMDRIVE%\%windir%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC Win 98\ME =%SYSTEMDRIVE%\%windir%\ There you'll see a file called 'hosts' . -Step two- Download the hosts file Now you can add hosts to the hosts file or simply download a complete hosts file. The above one is from http://www.mvps.org/ and it's a great one. If you want to add a site url, you can do this like this: 127.0.0.1 http://www.domain.com/ -Step three- Understanding how this works. It fairly simple. What this file does is remapping the domains to 127.0.0.1. 127.0.0.* is used by nothing on the internet, it doesn't exist, but if you ping, you'll get an answer from your own pc. Example: If a site want to load an image (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) from http://www.domain.com/, then it will go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for the image and since it doesn't exist, it won't show. -Step four- Reboot. It's not always needed, but just reboot to be shure. -Problems- Yes, this simple hack can cause some problems, some sites wait before they get an answer from the sponsor (ie. google ads) and the site will work very slow or totaly not. You can simply rename the hosts file as long as needed and after the visit you can rename it 'hosts' again to surf with less ads.
  5. Well, I'm new here (like everybody else was in this part of the forum ).Just a bit about me if you're interested in that.I'm from Belgium, 17years old, interested in computers and motorbikes (aprilia's atm), and I'm looking for a great free host, because my current one is starting to ***** me off a bit .What my site will be about, JoVolKa, folkloristic dancing and flagswinging. Dunno if I may link to it, but I guess I won't risk it
