  1. The pics are really nice. I especially like the first pic... don't know why... maybe because of the narrow road or something. The second one looks a lot like what you might find in India . The two-wheeler at the extreme right looks like a Kinetic Honda. I wasn't aware that they were sold anywhere other than south asian countries .
  2. It's not about hacking google (why would anyone even try?) .... it's google hacks. i.e. using google to find passwords and credit card numbers on OTHER sites. It has nothing to do with Google security, just the way Google works. Nevertheless, it still is illegal and there are actually some sites that set up dummy pages to act as traps for people trying to get credit card numbers. So, just watch out.
  3. Well... actually that's how it works. Once you get accepted for hosting, you're credits come down to 3 and you'll have to pull up again. This is done to prevent people from accumulating too many credits and then applying for webhosting, because unless you are approved for webhosting, your credits don't decrease. This way you can't accumulate 200 credits over 2 months and then apply for hosting ... just isn't done that way. If you had 30, why did you apply for the basic package? You should have applied for the standard package because now, if you want to upgrade, it'll cost you another 30 credits or so I guess... not sure... just check that up in the FAQ.Hope this help you.
  4. You need some greens to purchase something my friend . Of course, in your case, you will be saving on your girlfriend.

    Hi hi

Just curious but, why did you choose a username like that? And are the numbers at the end really necessary? ;)Anyways, hello and welcome to Asta. Tell us a little more about yourself. 'talk to me pplz' hardly counts as an introduction.
  6. hmm... I'm getting second thoughts now. Yes, I am a student. 9 pounds converts to uh... nearly Rs. 600.... I can get a beer for Rs. 50 LOL, I don't drink anyway. I'll try fooling around with this for some more time. If it doesn't work, I guess I'll simply reinstall windows . I guess that might be the problem. I was under the impression that DirectX was completely supported in Wine.
  7. Ok... here is what glxinfo says: I just can't seem to figure out how to lower the resolution. The game doesn't have any option to do that. I think it runs at the resolution of the desktop. How do I reduce the resolution of the desktop?
  8. I've got the NVidia graphics driver installed. 'glxgears' is working and 'glxinfo' gives me a load of data at the top of which is mentioned Nvidia glx something, but there is no 'Messa' ('Mesa'?) any where. But still the game is pretty slow... I've tried to fool around with the wine configuration but no use. Is there any way to change the graphics resolution settings of the game? Because F22 does not have any options to change the display resolution or anything. I've tried setting '800x600' in the config file, but it didn't help. Nope... ... I prefer doing it the hard way.
  9. Hi,I've installed Wine in Slackware 10.1. Some of the basic Windows programs are working fine such as Notepad and Waste. Since my Windows XP installation got screwed, I just tried installing the game 'F22 Raptor' (Ok.. it's a pretty old game, but easier and less resource hogging than MS Flight simulaor) in Linux and surprisingly, it worked. Even more surprising is the fact that the I could play the game with the sound and music without configuring anything in wine.cfg. But the only problem is the frame rate. It was pretty smooth in Windows, but in Linux, it's like watching a powerpoint presentation in fast forward. It can't be any more than 10-12FPS. Does anyone have any ideas about how to resolve this? Thanks .
  10. The same can be achieved without going into the system registry in Windows XP. 1. Right-Click on the 'My computer Icon'2. Select Manage3. Select Storage Space on the right side of the window that pops up.4. Select Disk-management.You should be able to see all the drives and their sizes in the window. Right click the drive you want to change and then select 'Change drive letter'. If you need to exchange drive letters between 2 drives (say D: and E:), change the first one to some letter like 'W:' and then change the second one to D: and then change the first one from W: to E:. I used this method to change my CD Drive letter from D: to H:... it's better if the CD comes after the HDD .
  11. Hmm... my feeling was just the opposite ... I liked the fact that finally I've got the actual Windows XP that was supposed to make it's appearance and that they won't be improving any further on this anymore. It's finally Windows XP and not Home or Professional or Beta or testing or anything... just 'Windows XP' .
  12. Guess after 8 posts, I'm the first one to actually post a screenshot . Here: I'm using Fluxbox with Aterm which can be seen in the background. It's been made transparent so the desktop is visible through it.
  13. Well, it isn't exactly a huge improvement in features for the normal user, but there are some instances where I found it more reliable. All of my friends on my LAN and myself have had this problem of the system continuously shutting down as soon as it started with an error message saying 'RPC has exited unexpectedly, system shutting down now' which will cause the system to shut down in 1 minute. My guess is, this was because of some virus or something that is floating around in out LAN which is not detected by NAV or any other AV. After installing SP2, we don't have this problem anymore. This was actually the main reason for installing SP2. I admit the security centre is of not much use, but it tells people who have abolutely no idea about computers about what the first line of defense against hacking and infiltration of their machines consists of. I've also heard that some systems get screwed because of installing SP2, but most of these systems are more than 2 years old. It's true that SP2 slows down the system, but if you have 256+ MB of RAM, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. All in all, IMO, SP2 is ok if you've got a decent system which you bought in the last couple of years. Otherwise, it's better not to install SP2 because it installs a whole lot of new background services which do slow down the system considerably.
  14. hehe... you think this has something to do with the moon hoax theory? Maybe Google believes that the man on the moon is just as real as the moon being made of cheese .
  15. OMG... I had no idea it was so bad. Source:Here In addition to the devastation caused by the hurricane, residents have to cope with looters and smugglers . Can't blame them though, they're in just as much of a mess as everyone else. Just have to pray and hope for the best.
  16. Jeez... what is that thing? Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie . hehe... a chair and an oven huh? Now, that's being resourceful .
  17. As Szupie has said, Firefox completely adheres to CSS standards. Also, you have extensions for firefox such as 'launchy', 'web developer' and 'validator' which help web developers who are trying to develop standards compliant web pages. That's the reason I'm sticking to Firefox, because of the extensions and the ease of use... even though it is a bit slow at loading and uses up a whole lot of RAM (even more than IE). You can get rid of it now itself... go here and download firetune. This has a load of optimizations for firefox and one of them happens to be getting rid of that annoying popup window when it doesn't connect to a site. There is a way to change it by typing 'about:config' in the address bar, but it's easier this way, because firetune let's you make a backup of your present firefox configuration so that you can restore it if it gets screwed by some chance.
  18. The layout is pretty neat.... it's simple and very appealing. The colors are also fine.
  19. Just curious but, why do you want to know how many Google Searches are done in a day? You need it for a presentation or project or something?
  20. Now, that's amazing... I've never seen anything like it. Imagine... a whole webserver in a matchbox? I guess with time, they'll even make it more versatile by giving it a USB port and being able to upload and download files... hehe ... maybe call it a pen-server.
  21. Now, that's a very interesting article. I read the whole thing. It's good to know that Yahoo! is constantly updating it's login to keep it more secure from hackers. And the variables used in the javascript that they got... they're so vague. I don't know about the others email service providers, but Yahoo! sure does give you very good service. I've had my account in Yahoo! for 5 years now and no qualms with it whatsoever .
  22. Anyone sane will atleast get up and have something to eat or drink... even if they are playing non-stop. This guy must have been a complete whacko to have completely forgotten everything while playing Warcraft (a strategy game at that... not even an FPS ).
  23. Nice, thanks for posting the link. I wanted to try Opera for some time now, but didn't only becausethey kept showing those ads on the top. I'll give Opera a whirl today. Thanks again.
  24. Someone died playing video games? And because he didn't eat or drink anything for 50 hrs? I find that a little hard to believe. I believe I was engrossed in a game once... Half-Life, when I was playing for the first time, I played it non-stop for almost 3 days. But I did eat, drink, go to the bathroom, sleep for atleast 7 hrs .... I mean like come on, you can't sit and play warcraft and forget to eat or take a pee? Besides, how old is this guy who died playing Warcraft? 60+? Why will you have a heart failure if you're starving and damn thirsty? Doesn't seem to make sense.Anyway, is this news official? Can you post a link? I'd like to read more about such hardcore game enthusiasts, because I myself am one.
  25. Dynamic IP address? oh ok... I was kinda curious because at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, which gives you free domain names, you can give them the IP address of your website... oh well, I guess I can use it without it as well. Thanks
