hmmm... that's true unfortunately. Maybe you could try googling to see if there are any open source software that allow you to make templates for quickly applying to different files. Here's something I found just yesterday to help you out with CSS: Top Style Lite It's pretty cool, you don't have to remember the various CSS options to apply, they automatically pop-out and you just have to select them. The Lite version is free. Check it out.

Hi, I'm using a 2-column completely fluid layout with a header and footer. Here is the basic layout. Here is the CSS file. Now the problem, as you can see, is that the footer is overlapping the menu if the content is less. I tried to overcome this problem by using <br> tabs immediatly after the content section, but it's not flexible and doesn't work well with high resolutions. What I need is that the footer always have a gap of minimum 10px or so from the menu if the content section is shorter than the menu section. If the content section is longer than the menu section, the footer section should then maintain a gap of 10px with the content section. Any ideas?

Really? I didn't know that. I've wanted to try SuSE for a long time. Guess I'll do it now . Kenjvalip: It's not difficult at all to install Linux. If you are using LInux for the first time, you had better use Knoppix and see how it feels. That way you don't have to partition your harddisk and run the risk of losing all your data.

Of course it has to work. Jedipi: Ask your friend to boot it up and tell him to keep pressing F8 repeatedly. He will come to the Windows startup options. Then select 'Safe mode'. What do you mean by it's not working? Do you mean to say, you can't even see the POST screen? If the monitor is showing a complete blank even before windows starts, as hazeshow said, it's not a problem with the resolution. Some more info about the computer will help.

Is Linux Really Safer Then Windows? Comparison!
abhiram replied to prosorcerer's topic in Websites and Web Designing
<clap clap clap> Rightly said! The amount of support for linux users is enormous with so many people and so many forums (this one included ) that using it is as easy as using windows. Most important is the budget issue, it's very economical (read free ). Back to the topic, any OS is just about as safe as the person using it. Unless you configure it properly and know how to use it, it's safe. Linux actually forces you to do something of that sort by default because, that's the way it's been made. But a properly configured windows OS with firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware and periodic check-ups can be just as secure as linux. Just my opinion. -
Does Anyone Every Play Pen & Paper Rpg Anymore ? Pen Paper RPGs

What the heck is a pen and paper rpg? Is it something like a board game like monopoly or cluedo? -
What? I don't understand. I've always used google for class assignments and projects and 90% of the time they are relevant. What exactly are you trying to search for? Is it how to make pudding? Then type "how to make pudding" in the search bar with the quotes. Google is very good at picking up contextual searches. For example, if you want to know how to solve the rubik's cube, you have to type "how to solve rubik's cube" without the quotes. The first page itself will show all the relevant sites related to your topic. If you need help with googling, just post back and we'll help you out with how to go about it.

Windows Services: Performance Boost By Turning Off
abhiram replied to soleimanian's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Nice, this is exactly what I used when I was playing Doom 3. . Had to borrow an extra 256MB RAM from a friend and then disable all these services to be able to have a smooth fps of 20 (maximum). -
Hi, This is a very useful method for converting. But I usually prefer dbPowerAmp. You can get it at : https://www.dbpoweramp.com/ The reason I use this is because you can convert files from one format to another just by right-clicking on the file and saying convert. It can also rip audio-cd's to mp3, wav, ogg, wma and a host of other formats. You just have to install the particular plugin from the site.

Sims 2 Content "Worse Than Hot Coffee" Jack Thompson is at it again.
abhiram replied to Koel's topic in Computer Gaming
This is total BS! Doesn't make sense whatsoever. I've played the Sims. Although I got bored of it quite quickly, I didn't see anything that could actually cause a furore such as this. IMO, this dumbf*** is actually giving it publicity by dragging it out into the open like this. A mod developed by someone and placed for a download is not the same as forcing it to people. If someone downloads it, it's only because he/she wants to. No one is forcing them. I think the parents are responsible (if at all!!!) if their children download this patch. I feel kids of 15 years and older are not 'mere' kids anymore. Come on, we're not living in the Dark Ages anymore. Explicit content is shown everyday on TV itself. Go to a movie... sex and violence are the themes of the day. Parents should know what's good for their kids and what's not. There is no justification in blaming the Company that made the game. It is they who have neglected to monitor their children's activities and not spending enough time with them. -
The Best Database What do you think is the best database?
abhiram replied to volrathxiii's topic in Programming
Hi, I agree with the others that MySQL is the best database. MySQL is actually made so that it can be integrated with web applications using PHP very easily. There is very good support for MySQL in PHP. That is why people always use LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP). Since you need to use foxpro tables, try these following links: A program to export tables to different formats: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Here is another link for different applications to convert from one format to another. There is one for foxpro as well: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ There are plenty of tutorials on the net for MySQL. If you want a hassle-free installation of a webserver in your windows PC with PHP and MySQL, I would suggest WAMP: http://www.wampserver.com/en/index.php I hope these help. One reason why MySQL is so popular is that it can be used in both windows AND linux. -
Google Desktop Search Yes, another google tool
abhiram replied to kevlar557's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Google Desktop search is still in it's beta stage (as are everything else google has started ). I used it once but removed it because it wasn't of much use and once when I really had a use for it, it didn't find the files I wanted !!! I had a doc file in a sub-directory and after google had finished indexing, I searched for it, but couldn't find it. Finally after a hard search, I found it myself. Then, after editing it, I closed it and searched again. But this time, instead of showing the actual file, it showed the temporary file generated by MS-WORD which was in the same folder. I mean like WTF ?!! This got me really pissed off and I uninstalled it.The only thing worthwhile mentioning about google desktop is that it indexes the files in the background so that you don't even know that it is there. If you leave your computer idle for a few minutes, it starts indexing fast, otherwise it does it slowly. -
dude, how about some links? I'd like to download the game as well. Others might be interested as well. /edit: Never mind, I did some googling and found the link here it is: http://www.srb2.org/ sonic robo blast 2

Major Forum Lag Is it just only me?
abhiram replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Web Hosting Support
Do you mean while scrolling the page? For me, I don't have a problem with that. This forum, for some reason, takes too long to load. I mean, like sometimes, I have to wait for almost 5 min for a particular page to load. Maybe it's because of my 40kbps bandwidth, but the other forums I go to load really fast. Yea, I guess maybe the skin is also causing my problem. Is it too heavy? -
My bad.... it's not 30GB DVDs... it's 45GB!!! Take a look here. These aren't the standard DVDs that we are using nowadays. These are HD-DVDs i.e. High-Definition DVDs. The storage itself shows how much technology has improved. IMO, this will lead to a real war for standardisation. Right now, each type has it's own advantages and disadvantages.... See this. It's a bit old, but shows the ups and downs of each format and shows which companies are favoring which format.

Speed Up Your Connection In Windows XP
abhiram replied to soleimanian's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've tried this a long time ago. But it hasn't really helped much. I mean, I don't find any noticable difference in the browsing speed. There is another way for speeding up browsing using firefox, but I don't remember where I read it. It's something about changing your about:config options.... something about simultaneous network connections. -
Games That Have Bad Endings.... how i hate them..
abhiram replied to Padsgoo's topic in Computer Gaming
Well, I haven't played that game. I'm mostly into shooters. So far I haven't encountered any games with bad endings. Doom3, HL2, Castle Wolfenstein, GTA III, vice city, san andreas all of them ended exactly the way I would have expected. In particular, I like the way HL2 and Doom 3 ended... in suspense . That's the way they should end if they're going to make sequels. -
Cool Codes For Html/css Guys?
abhiram replied to theillestmc12's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Are you sure? I feel using CSS is the best way to make something attractive and well ordered without using tables and images at all. If you want to see some really good CSS effects like adding shadows to images and <p> elements, I would suggest this site: http://alistapart.com/ It has a lot of CSS and Javascript 'how-to's. A good tutorial on CSS can be found at w3schools: http://www.w3schools.com/ IMO, CSS actually takes very less time to load since the css file is just a text file which will be about the size of a smiley. Compare that with the sites that use tables and a complex image.
