Ok I had a similar problem with my Roommates computer, it was an older P4 running on a MSI MoBO with an early 2/4x AGP slot. I put in a MSI Radeon 9250 and started having problems. I recently built a new system and put that video card, just to test it, in my "new" system and found that it didn't spaz out anymore. I also had been running the MSI PC Alert program to keep track of the Processor temp, and on both systems the CPU and System Temp was well within acceptable ranges.Here is what I came to think. Although some MoBo's have 4x/8x support, not all chipsets are created equal. While some can support running at the limits (most newer cards push the limits of the architecture at all points) others can't.About the only thing that I can honestly suggest here is to make sure your running the latest BIOS for the MoBO in question and the latest drivers for your vid card. There is another option and that is to change the AGP controller driver from the stock PCI-AGP bridge to PCI-PCI in the Windows Hardware Manager. In some cases this will fix the problem, while this will impact your overall FPS rate and also cause you to lose some of the AGP features it will cause some crashing issues to dissapper.Before doing the afformentioned "fix" I would like to once again suggest making sure your running the latest BIOS flash for your MoBo and the latest drivers for your vidcard and chipset, seeing as how this could very well fix the problem your having. Also remember that the Sempron is AMD's version of the Celeron, and neither chip is really ment to be in systems that are for any type of gaming, they are both underpowered versions of the main chip lines. They usually have less cache then their full powered main line siblings and lower clock rates, generally.

To run Dual NVidia cards they need to have the SAME BIOS and other things. To really understand how to do it check out the NVidia website or a card manufacturers website. I personally would go with ATI cards myself but I've been a ATI "fanboy" for a long time.

In order to run 2 video cards in tandum on a single motherboard you have to have a motherboard that can handle it. In his case he has to have and SLI enabled motherboard to run his 2 Nvidia based cards. If he was running ATI based cards he would need a XFire enabled motherboard, and XFire cards. If you want more info I can get you more, or you can check out Nvidias website or ATI's website.

You have a very nice start there, better then mine. Although I must say that you MUST remember that for that set up you will need a monsterous power supply.I would suggest an Antec power supply that is rated at 450 watts or better. Also don't forget about your cooling needs. For the processor I would suggest a 3rd party heat sink like the Thermaltake Big Typhoon - CL-P0114.Also you will need a case that has enough fan mounts to move large amounts of air in and out. If your really wanting to keep your system as cool as possible you might want to look into liquid cooling for your cpu, ram, and video. There are prebuilt liquid cooling systems for the extream computer.All in all I must say that your well on your way to a monster gaming machine but like I said don't forget the cooling, case, and power supply. Also I would suggest going pure SATA and leave the IDE hard drives alone. A super fast CPU and super fast ram are usless unless your Hard drives can supply them data at decent speeds as well.

While I must say that I admire your honesty, and being up front about your request and find it refreshing. I must say that I have to agree with the others that have posted here.While I would like to see the admins allow this, since it seems honorable and all, I must say that it could be abused. Also that if one person was allowed this favor it would set a presidence that could, and probably would, be abused by others very quickly.I would suggest that you follow the suggestions posted about setting aside a small amount of space on your own account for your sister to use, with your supervision, so that she can, if she wishes, learn how to work her own site. Then when she is old enough move to a place like Myspace or if that isn't acceptable help her open an account with somewhere like geocities.Such places have very basic sites so that she would have to know very little about html and the such and still be able to put up a site that she could be proud of.

While I must say that I find this interesting I have to agree with TANSQRX and say that it isn't the tool that google gives access to that promotes child pornography its the user that looks for it that is to blame as well as the one that put it up that are the problems. While I agree that some sort of filter or active search and permanant blocking needs to be implemented on all search engines, I don't agree that Google should be singled out as an example.It does seem to me that this article makes it look like this politition seems to trying to make a name and reputation for him/herself by making an example out of a big name company in an atempt to possibly feed their political agenda.The old attage, "The ends do not justify the means" comes to mind while reading this article. I agree that child porn needs to be monitored and crushed, but trying to do so and build ones reputation, as well as political power at the expense of another isn't right.Any search engine at this point will allow someone who really wants this filth, search for it. Yes the problem needs to be looked at and fixed, but dragging a company into court and charging them with the facilitaion of the passing of it isn't right, in my humble opinion.

I must say that I'm impressed by your site. Its clean, easy to navigate, and very user friendly. I'm hard pressed to find much fault with its over all design.That said I do have one thing that bothers me about it. The main, home, page is well laid out but the banner doesn't seem to blend to well with the overall site design. I find that the same is true of the forums. While the main design of the site is dark the jump to the forums is a bit of a "shock" to the eyes when you get there. You go from a black, uniform background of the site, to a bright white background of the forums.Other then that the I truely like the site. Good work.

From an artistic point of view I must say that the use of color and figures is very nice, it all blends together and plays off each other nicely. Now from a web design point of view the banner wouldn't make it onto any site I work on. The reason for this is as follows. Its just to big and busy. It seems to want to be the center of attention and draws the eye to it rather then saying "hello" and then letting the viewer move onto the rest of the site. As such I must say that it seems like it would fit more to the signature area rather then the banner/header area.I must say that I love it, but if your looking to have it used as a header/banner I would say that the site that this would be placed on would, to me, have to be a very bright and busy site with a lot of "clutter" on it to draw the user away from the banner.

Ok here is my suggestion, check to make sure that the AC adapter port on the laptop is still functioning properly. Make sure that it is a nice tight fit, and that when you plug the ac adapter in the indicator light on your laptop comes on. In my experiance as a computer tech more often then not its the port that the AC adapter plugs into that is the problem.If the AC adapter port is lose it usually just needs to be soldered back onto the motherboard or the entire motherboard needs replaced. I would honestly suggest taking it into a Best Buy near you, if there is one, and have the Geek Squad look at it for you. Usually they will be able to tell you if it is the AC adapter port or the battery for no charge. If it is the battery then you will have to replace it. I seriously doubt that the charging port on the battery compartment is damaged, unless of course you have taken the battery in and out and were rough with it while doing so.Seeing as how the laptop is at least 2 years old it could be that the battery is no longer holding a charge and needs replaced, but I would still have a tech look at it to make sure that the AC adapter port is in good repair.

if linux and macOSx aren't buggy then why are the security forums now coming out and saying that their are known security flaws in them? EVERY OS has security flaws and buggs, its just that Linux is opensource so there are lots of people working on it and its free. Windows isn't.If linux didn't have problem why are their so many different versions of it, and I'm not talking about different distro's I'm talking about different versions of the distros. Don't get me wrong I like linux but yes it does have bugs...they just get fixed fast is all.And Linux is based on unix, it isn't unix. Yes its stable but it doesn't have the unix legacy.

Here's an interesting point. Most people that use windows are the general public. That being said most of those users are point and click users that know only how to use their applications (and that is saying alot). Now with that out of the way most of the users of LiNUX are ones that are truely interested in learning how to proplerly use their computer and how to learn how to use their operating system.Windows is made for those that don't want to "delve" to deep into their computers and how they operate while LiNUX, even those distros that have GUI's, are still for those powerusers that like to have total control of their systems and know how to do basic system support for themselves and are technically oriented.The whole idea that M$ should keep supporting OS's that are over 8 years old, from a techs perspective, is kinda rediculous. The reason I feel this way is that most programs that people use stop supporting OS's that have not been released on a "new box" computer in the last 5 years. These days a "basic" computer package can be gott'n for around 600 US. If you use a computer that still runs Win '98 then its time to update. The fact that M$ still supports products that are around 5 years old is nice, concidering that if you call up a company and ask for help with, say a radio, that is 7 years old and no longer made or sold new, then they pretty much say, "sorry, we can't help you."Yes Windows has been release, in its many versions, have been buggy. Yet hasn't LiNUX also been buggy? The only real difference I see between the 2 operating systems is this...One is made for people that like to point and click, the other is made for people that want to be able to control and know how things work. Both have had many problems but since one costs alot of money and the other is free, people complain about having to pay lots of money and then load fixs for it.

The reason that the D'vorak key layout was designed was that they were trying to speed up the typing process and make it a more flowing system. As for the advent of the touch typing input to a computer, well the D'vorak key layout and the others since actually make more sense, due to the fact that speed is of the essence these days and not the worry of the type bars getting tied up in a massive mess and ruining a very expensive type writer and wasting a lot of money and time to replace it or fix it and the down time of the person who was using it. Which is the reason that the QWERTY key layout was designed.

There is but isn't a mistake there in his calculations....hehe Your right, as well as wrong here also...I'll try to explain, but seeing as how I don't fully understand it I doubt I'll be able to explain it clearly. As for the "repeating decimal" form of the fraction 1/3...there is a finite number of times that it repeats, theoretically. This is true of the repeating decimal pi but since we can't/haven't found the end of it yet we just "assume" that it has an end and therefore our calculations are correct. That is also the monkey wrench in the calculation that started this thread. I mean this for both sides of the conversation...its the proof that it is wrong...while at the same time proof that its correct...lol. At least as I understand it....

Given the original quotes that started this tread/discussion, wouldn't a "dark star" cause the same, or similar, effect. With a star dying and going dorment wouldn't it create a massive gavitaional pull? Now if you follow that assumption wouldn't it also then start pulling in matter, and eventually, following this same line of thought, absorb enough energy to once again become a living star and create a miniture "big bang" giving new life to a dead solor system/galaxy? I'm no astrophysisist by any means but to me that sounds a bit more logical then a universe full of black holes that are pulling it appart at the seams....

Well as a follow up post I have to say that as a species, homosapians are not only one of the most pesimistic species on the planet earth but also the most self destructive, and I might even go as far as to say that if the earth was a multicelled sentient organism, we would be a massive paresitic infestation on its skin, much like scabies.While at the same time we are supposidly the most intelligent, although I have to agree with the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, if we are so intellegent why are we so destructive to our world, and so blind to how our actions not only effect ourselves but those that share the earth with us.Now that being said...why do we only speculate on the what ifs, and not fix whats going on around us? ok as for the contracts with game developers, of course sony is going to have the lead there since they have been in the console business longer. As for overal usability and power I think that the X360 is still ahead of the PS3, just like the XBox was more powerful then the PS2. From what I've seen on the cell processor, the heart of the PS3, the specs look good, but from what I've heard about its actual performace, it leave something to be desired. As for the X360, its uses a proven processor, the PowerPC chip from IBM, which has been proven to be a major powerhouse processor, unlike the Cell Processor which Sony specifically designed, from what I understand, to be used in the PS3.As for the rest of the tech under the hood of both systems, they both are using "new" media drives, the X360 is using HD-DVD and the PS3 is using the Blu-Ray. Both are either new devices or old proven tech on steriods. The PS3 is using the new Blu-Ray which hasn't been put into mass production untill now and as such will have to have a period of time where the "kinks" are worked out of the manufacturing infrastructure and as such there will be a batch of bad ones that get out early on, probably but hopefully not. As for the X360 its using the HD-DVD drive which is basicly the same old DVD but with a new blue laser and possibly a new codec or 2.Yes there have been problems with the new 360 but oh how we have short memories as a species, does no one remember that the original PS had overheating issues, the PS2 had problems with its hardware also. Now don't get me wrong I'm no fan of the way M$ does business but come on I'm no more a fan of how Sony does business either.In the end we are just gonna have to wait and see both products in the stores, side by side, the real deal, and then decide. As for now though...I'm putting my money, and my mouth, behind the X360....Halo 3 Baby...lol

I think that students shouldn't be allowed to have their cell phone in class, the reason for this is that they can use them to cheat on tests, also they can be a distraction. As for being able to use them on school property, during lunches or long breaks sure no problem, but use in a class room - no.As for the schools reaction to the call, I don't agree with it. They had no right to as the student to give up his cell phone due to the fact that he was talking to his mom who was deployed to a war zone, "police action area", however you want to word it. At the same time I cannot, and will not, condone the students actions, though I will admit that I am being a bit hipocritical here since I would have probably reacted the same way when I was his age, or even worse.I think the school officials should have to make a very public appology. Although I doubt that they will do so.

I would think that they would have double checked the definitions also but they weren't the only anti-virus company that had problems lately. Norton had a major problem after an update a few months ago. It was so bad that the Local computer shops stopped selling their product untill Symantic fixed the problem.

Ok so google is keeping information on its users, I'll admit a bit creepy but honestly how do you expect them to be able to give good search results without collecting information and then using it to do massive cross referencing to be able to get more accurate results. As for the information that they get from the emails that are on their server...um reality check...do you honestly beleive that they are the only ones that are doing that?Any email server has the right to do with the information on their server pretty much as they wish. From what I've read on the web at different points, the asumption of privacy on public email servers is not really backed up by law. If you want a private email server then pay for it or run it yourself.Personally I don't put anything into an email that I honestly don't want the general public knowing about. As for privacy in email...I hope you don't send anything you don't want your employer know about from work or visit sites you don't want your employer knowing you are visiting on work time because any information sent across their network is theirs to view/record/archeive as they see fit.The same premous protects google, its their network and all information on it is theirs to do with as they see fit.

yes the ability to reset a password on the hotmail/msn network is possible, much like the quoted material you posted states. They are currently are working on, or have fixed, that problem already. As for how to do it, thats above my knowledge level, or to be more precise, not what I like to do for fun on my evenings off.As for the post...I have to agree with M^E, of the couple of posts of yours that I have run across they are, umm...Juvenile at best, or in my opinion just this side of spam. What you were talking about - using the shell of the HIV virus - and turning it into a cancer hunting virus is possibly true. UCLA announced this during February when they have sucessfully cure a mice with metaphasic melanoma with a modified strain of the HIV virus, without affecting the rodent with HIV. Aside from modifying the virus, placement of the virus is also critial to the treatment. The virus has to be delivered to the tumour where it can effectively kill the cancer cells, then replicate, and kill more cancer cells - without activating the body immune system which would reject the virus and ultimately stop the treament. Also, the scientists have given the virus different anti-body proteins so their coating automatically attatches to specific targets - in this case, cancer cells. However, human testing is not due for another couple of years, so a cure won't be in sight for another decade or so... probably. I got this from Popular science - this is the website. Aside from breakthrough in Biotech, there are also other practical advances in cancer therapy. Apparently, scientists have found a use for gold after all. First, they prepare the nano-shells, made from gold atoms and coated with silica. Then the nano-shells are injected into the blood, where they seek out the cancer cells and bind to their surface with anti-bodies. A near infra-red light pass through the healthy tissue without harming it, heats up the nano-shells and basically cooks the tumour it is attatched to. And this I read from Popsci awhile ago, but found the article here. However, most of the cancer treaments availble today, and the ones undergoing research at the moment are specifically targetting cancer turmors that are in one location which haven't spread to other parts of the body. I guess the best cure afterall is prevention and detection. If you live a healthy lifestyle, and have a regular checkup once a year, it is more effective than any other cancer treatment that will ever be developed. (Even if there's a cure)

That is good news indeed. At the moment, the transfer rate for bluetooth devices are so slow that it is not practical to use it to transfer a large amount of data. Even if you are trying to send pictures or music with your cell phone or MP3 player, it could take a minute or two just to finish a song.I also hope they do something about the effective range of the bluetooth devices. 10-15 meters isn't really enough to be throwing files across the office or home.

But then, talk about inconvience. Who knows what science and doctors will be doing to our brains twenty years from now. It freaks me out thinking they can have anything implanted in our bodies without us knowing about it.Somethings should just stay the good old fashion way.
