Well I am a Muslim by relegion. And the notion that Allah (God) created Adam , and then from Adam Eve is common to Judaism , Christianity and Islam. According to Islam , the world was already there when Adam was created. Creatures and Plants of differnt kinds. And Quran supports evolution...but one thing which is still not clear to me is that if Adam was subjected to all that evolution. Adam was different from every thing present on earth. The reason Adam looked like and ahs triats like mammals is that its probably the best shape for him to be. But i just wanted to add to your knowldge that Islam has a very similar position to christianity. A bizzare (or should i say ...strange) story in islam is of a nation of homesexuals ..which was turned to monkies/apes..may be there is a connection.

Where To Start Learning Programming Please advise me on which language to
hatim replied to sujith's topic in Programming
So many posts and not a single one cared to mention GCC , MinGW or DevC++.Some times i wonder people just write here for credit ..and write long USELESS stories.to be shortIf Windows : download BloodShed Dev-C++ (gogole it) install if you are using windows. If Linux then get gcc (probably u already have it..but incase not..try installing it from your Distro CD or internet update..all good distros have GCC some where in the installer)essentially GCC in a Compiler Collection ..which has many Compilers..includeing C / C++. Also start by investing in a good book. Stay away from the C++ for Dummies kind of think. Good Book is Object Orriented Programming in C++ by Robert Lafore. Then look for guides and tutorials online for DevCPP in specific and C++ in general.Focus your attention on C++ as you will be working in a differnt and better way than C. You would automatically master C once you have done so for C++. Another good Book is C++ How to Programm by Deitel and Deitel. Its relatively expensive and a big book . But in good depth. It can help you alot.Try searching yourself C/C++ tutorials and Books. Make sure you knwo about differnt compilers out tehre ie MinGW , Cygwin , VC++ etc.The purpose of my reply was to give you smoe pointers. You will ahve to search and work your self. Do focus on GCC as it is the workhorse of Open Source Devlopment. -

For starters. Almost 90% of Linux distors for home users are Free as in Speech and as in BEER. A list of such distros can be found at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. I will have to assume that you ahev a decent system and wnat to take full advantage of it. So if you have lets say 512 MB of RAM you would need atleast 1024 mb (1 Gb) of swap. It is recomended that you have swap twice the size of RAM. Next up is you linux partition or / as it is called. Well it totally depends on how many programs you want to install. 6 GB would be enough for a Linux system with almost every thing you need. 6 GB means not only you base OS but productivity softwares..office suite games and blah blah. Last but not least it is a good idea to have a seprate /boot..lets say 64 MB should be enough. ease of Linux installation/use depends on what distibution you are using. For a starter i would recomend using either SuSe or Ubuntu. I my slef use Ubuntu @ work and its very easy to install and does an easy Dual Boot system. They used to ship CDs for free and you can download them off the internet too. They recently released a new version just few days back ..so check it out. Also it would be a good idea to give Linux a try with a LiveCD distro . A live CD ditro just copies its self on RAM and uses harddisk as swap. It does not install any thing on you harddrive. Primary aim for such a distro is demonstration/ recovery / installattion. Kopooix is the most fmaous of all LiveCD distros. There are many more live distros out there ..like for chinses language and for just playing a movie etc. So give LiveCD version a try..check SuSe and Ubuntu live CDs and decide which one you wana use. Ubuntu uses Gnome and SuSe (i think) uses KDE by default. So you will find some difference there. One thing about Live CD is that it is slow cause it runs from CD ..so dont be taken aback. Installaed version of LINUX would be much faster. Feel free to Private Message me if you have any questions.

I Need Y`all Honest Opinions On This!
hatim replied to LikMeBalleFM's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Well they look nice for a begineer effort. To be honest you could improve alot. I am not sure what tyres are these ..but they are so thin that they are unbelieveable. Plus if you second Rim is of differnt design you should bring it to front a bit. Also one of them could be lyingon the floor. Floor looks non-believeable. Could be nice if you used real texture. Same goes for wall...may be u didnt want it to be believeable. The Y thingie seems really thin and small ..you could make it some how bigger and cover all the circle..(dont make the whole bigger thougIs it shown to be inside ..or outside in sunlight? -
Earth Quake In Pakistan My reflection on recent earth quake.
hatim replied to hatim's topic in General Discussion
Well i said ..All relegious beliefs aside. This may be God's test..may be just a test ...or may be some blessing in disguise (20,000 people dying is not as bad as a million people dying..may be this some how brings India-Pak nuke rivals together..and focus on Kashmir ..which was the hardest hit by Quake)but one thing i know in my relegion...is the concept of Fate. Fate is NOT fixed and is determined by our actions. There are many people in Pakistan who believe that this is the consequcne of our actions..just like Americe being hit by Hurricanes etc.Well ...me and my twisted beliefs......all i know that Hurricaes , Earth Quakes , Fires , Mass Killings ..they are all sign of the end..it is still atleast few years away...cause even in Islam ..we believe Jesus(Isa) shall come (not as Prophet and ofcourse not as Son of God as God is 1 and never had any son or daughter) but as a human being and a follower of Islam...and there would be "Clash of Civilizations" over Jeruselem. (may be it has all begun...then whose the Jesus ) :blink:skeptics welcom. -
I intend to get a Laptop like this for research purposes. We have a group at our university which will be interested in making Softwares for Local Languges. Local Language software (ie Urdu) are available ..but are resource higs and are not easy to use. I wonder if MIT sells these laptops to researchers and possible collaborators.

Sept 9th 2005, around 8:55 AM, This is one time i wont forget. I was listeing to music in my dorm room. I suddenly felt vibrations on the floor. I thought some how the BASS of my speakers got bit high. Surprised ..the vibrations got more and more as seconds grew. It was soon that I realized this was an earth quake. Now minor earth quakes I have seen ...but this much vibration..I have never seen in my life. I just put on a pair of slippers and started walking out of my room. Luckily i live on the ground floor. Almost ever one living in my dorm felt the quake..especially people on 2nd floor (top) as the building wobbled alot. After I came out i straight away called my mom and Dad. I thought they would have felt monir tremmors. To my surprise and horror ..they had similar scale of tremmors. I could only imagine at that time ..what would have happened to the epicneter of this quake..as it was felt equally in Islamabad Abboottabad and GIKI ..all 2 hours drive away from each other.I was sitting out side and feeling the earth moving and shaking for almsot 3 minutes. It started to subside. The entire saturday we felt after shoks. It was in the evening that it was decided to give all studnts off for two days so they could join in any relief efforts in Northern Pakistan ..or go to their homes. We were glued to TV all day and trying to figure out what had happened. It turned out that it was a 7.6 scale quake which originated almost 60 miles NNE of Islamabad. The area hit most was Pakistani-Administrated-Kashmir. It has been estimated that almost 18000 people have perished and 41000 are injured. More people have lost homes and business places. The image which most people would have seen was the collapsing of a luxury appartment building in Islamabad. Its sad that peple died there..but they were just a fraction of people who died in NWFP. Entire villages have been reported wiped out. Since it was Saturday and Ramzan , after sehri ,(early Breakfat ..around 4:00 am) people were mostly asleep..so alot of them couldnt get out in time.I have alot more stories from my own Campus. About Relief Efforts etc which I shall post later. For now I just want to ask Allah for his forgiveness. Its Holy Month of Ramzan in Pakistan and according to our relegion (and my understanding) if qukes hit in Ramazn its only meaning is wrath of Allah and that doomsday is near. All relegious beliefs aside..please pray for departed souls, and help if you can to the victims. and Lets hope this quake doesnt happen again...cause we are all on a 48 hour alert as minor tremmors are still being felt.

Mfirefox --vs-- Iexplorer i use both
hatim replied to Kid Saiyan's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well to add a few Iexplorer has all these spywares easily installed. Its not WC3 standards compliant. Its only avilable on Windows (it is there on Mac but i dont think newer versions would be available)Firefox doesnt mess up forms. It just shows how they are supposed to be (according to W3C standards) . Its Internet explorer which has the workarounds. Last but not least . Since Firefox is opensource there are so many extensions and themes freely avaialble Which makes the browser uber customizable. I have not seen similar things for IE.IE has some design edge over FF. Since its highly integrated into the Windows OS , new softwares and plugins get installed easily. Same happens for firefox in Windows (i am not sure how ..i guess it copies stuff off IE registries) But its not easy in Linux. Can be pain some times just to configure Flash Java and Realplayer etc.On the whole I choose Firefox only cause its standards compliant . -
Well as for MS they will always say that this must be it. Cause they have put all "EFFORT" into getting every thing fixed. But Software is a fluid businees. Things change very rapidly...and ofcourse when a new SP comes it also causes new problems.

awsome stuff. I wonder if u are aware of blender. It an Open Sorce tool for 3d rendering. DO give it a try.

runs just perfect on my system. all i did was javac DisplayMessage.javaand then java DisplayMessagemake sure u do this where u have the DisplayMessage.class. Also you dont have any event catcher ..ie after the close window the program keeps on running. So eith put a System.exit(0); as last statement ..or better catch the window close event and then call System.exit(0);what are your outputs of javac and java? plain . What OS are u running on?

I have used PHPBB in recent past to host a local site at my campus . It was neat stuff. I am using Drupal now as i decided to expand more than just forums. There is a list of Open Source Content Management Systems (opensourcecms.com) which has ratings for differnt catagories. In forums PunBB tops. As you can see URL=http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=388&Itemid=143]here[/url] http://forums.xisto.com/ that PHPBB still has the largest USERBASE.any one tried punbb yet?

first : if u know good C++ u r - not poor ..money wise..trust me. The ricchest dude in the world is essentaiily a C programmer (or some thing close ..as most of Windows is made in C if not C++)- not poor ...other wise : because to be a good programmer u need to love programming. and have a certain aptitute. Like any one cannot be a doctor ..just any one cannot be a programmer.Flash and Visual Basic are basically design tools in my opnion. Thye have a bit of scripting invloved ..and so is PHP(just plain scripting and in my opnion very good language ..u can even program stuff which can run on ur local machine with PHP command line interfaces and WxWidgets)On the other hand C/C++ is a compiled langauge..what does this mean. In PHP for example the computer only looks at the code while running it. Where in C it looks at the code b4 running it and makes a program which can be run. This thing is done through a C/C++ compiler as u already may know. Now tell us which compiler or IDE (Integrated Devlopment Environment) you are using. There are many C/C++ compiler out there, tell us which one u r using . I would recomend MinGW, now this compiler comes bundeled with set of nice tools or IDE calls DevC++ , download it and give it a try. Create new project , for console app in that Mind you C is a differnt than C++ ..C++ is an extension of C..but their treatment of programming is different..but for now let us say C/C++ is same stuff..normally a compiler can do both.If you need further assistance , Private Messege Me , I shall be gald to help youIt takes patience to learn a programming language like C/C++ , but you will have this knowldge for the rest of your life...Also on a technical not. JAVA is good competitor to C++ , its more devloper friendly and will help you in almost any platform. Java run in Mobiles (Java enabled) web server (JSP ..just like PHP) and on ur computer (example include Azeureus Bittorent client and web pages with Java Applets) ..its a one in all thing and its just awsome. It would be a good time to take a look at JAVA. Java is made by a company called Sun ..Java is also the rival of .NET framework..to which i have some reservations..stay away from .NET cause its not goodOne more thing..bets tool ever invented for programming IMO is Google ..it has almost any problem solved. So do alot of searches on Google. I am not trying to snub u in not asking questions..but the fastest way and easiest way to get a solution is to find it ur self.

ISO, i think its the most used format. i have rarely found CDs of other formats

Well for starters i assume u are using a linux distor with latest QT libraries..if not get one. There are many live CD versions with full devlopment tools from QT. Then there are toold from trolltech (company which made QT) , tools are-QTAssistant-QTDesigner-QTLinguistyou may wana search for the tutorials of these tools. I know for sure there are some basic tutorials in the QTDocs (which should be included with ur QT library or can be found at the website of trolltech)Then there KDevelop which is prime devlopment tool for KDE. KDE as you might know is a major Desktop Environemnet (all QT based )for Linux and free OSes ..(there are plans to make KDE avialble for Windows also). There are neat wizards for making simple QT applications and using QTDesigner etc from Kdeveloper.Last but not least C++ is not the only language which can be used with QT. QT has bindings for Java and other languages. Search for the lessons on trolltech's site and tell us how u find them.adios

I think all sane web devlopers hould start making sites for FireFox only. And besides even Firefox is not 100% W3C compatible ..its the next best thing.

I would go further and say that overclocking is overrated ..it has been established that its not the clock spped of system which dictates the performance , but overall design (choice of I/O, sycned memory etc)I would suggest that you dont overclock any thing at all. System Designers of a good chip making company do their best to get optimal performance out of a chip (but if chip is used badly in some ARCH its another story)Why do you want to overclok your CPU any ways ...are u a gamer. If so I would recomend you to get a seprate machine for gaming which u can play around with. If you wana overclokc ur Desktop then u would have room for alot of cooling stuff..so ur system remains ..well sane and alive. I have blown my Motherboard once by overclocking ..and will probably never do it again
