  1. I can't try it out since I don't have an active yahoo account now (well I do, but forget the usernames I have) but if its graphically dense at all I see no point to using it. For sites like this they need to learn that simple can be great AND look great. Functionality and design is a nice combination. At least they are trying though, thats nice to know.
  2. Indeed, this is basically the holy grail. Everyone can post nearly off topic things that are still on topic since its a topic about being here so everything is pretty much within limits. THEN you get people bantering back and forth and before you know it, 2700 pages and a hell of alot of credits have appeared haha.
  3. If I managed to make anyone waste that much time/money, I'd be happy to unban them hahaha
  4. Nah, I've gotten a special kind of ban lined up for you, only the admins can undo it
  5. I'll start off by saying this movie single handedly restored my faith in modern horror movies. Not gore flicks, not thrillers, not shock scare flicks, but actual honest to God horror movies. The movie starts off in usual horror fashion with some background on about 50% of the main cast, leaving just enough info that you feel connected with the characters but enough extra characters that could hypothetically go against your assumptions later on.Within about 5 minutes of starting up there is a shocker... kind of over the top, had me worried, but actually worked itno the plotline significantly so that was ok. Then it returns to plot and a while later managed one of the few random scares I was proud to witness haha. Usually if a horror movie just throws stuff at the screen to scare the audience it annoys me, this one was artistically done and as such I didn't mind it at all.Once the girls actually begin the descent (physical) into the caves the movie manages types of fear I'm not used to experiencing from a movie. The angles and lighting and damned fine acting and expression of fear from the actors made me actually feel claustrophobic in a few scenes and that was a delight for me.Once the poo hits the fan (as it oft does in horror films) and they begin their interactions with the creatures you see in the previews it keeps the tension high and still offers a few jumpy parts. One part that is actually in the previews manages to pull off a blair witch feeling (but good) and still caught me off guard completely when executed on screen. Finally, the emotional/psychological descent of the characters as they go from cultured humans to animals needing to survive is well portrayed. It was neither a light switch type on/off thing nor was it a drawn out, over done escapade. It really seemed logical whn each character snapped into survival mode.My ONLY gripe about the movie is the ending, because I've been informed of what the original brit version was like and I would have preferred it over the wuss-out (okokok, still pretty intense but less so) ending for us North Americans. But then again, 99.995% of horror movies have horrible endings. All in all the movie hits on almost every aspect of horror films and does them all properly. It manages to pull things off I didn't know they could do (claustrophobia properly) and still have a decent storyline. Another great fact is that there are multiple things for the main characters to be scared of. The movie isn't about them vs the creatures, its about them vs multiple dangers from multiple sources.I give this movie top grades. If you like horror movies at all you NEED to see this flick, if possible in theatres. If not, at 3am in the pitch dark. Alone. In closing... a 20+ year old girl cried during this movie. Sure she was a screamer so it's not unexpected, but it still felt right. I haven't seen someone scared into tears in a long time, and it seemed fitting this movie did it.
  6. They can't give credits for the shoutbox ro people would spam the hell out of it probably... we've already had some incidents involving students at schools using the shoutbox to get around the schools blocking of chat sites :SAnd now I'm going back to enjoying my long weekend haha, gotta love civic holidays
  7. Welcome to the boards MK. The people here ARE really great, although if you stumble accross a few of our recent topics I'll point out we love to joke around with each other once we get to know each other pretty well hehe.Enjoy your stay and welcome once again.
  8. Saying I act like a little girl is one thing, come near me with girls clothing and I might have to demote you below the level or "mere-mortal-member" :| ... or just beat you with a trout
  9. Man, it's been great having you around. Hope you enjoy whatever you continue on doing... and yea, no need for apologies. People change right? It's been a blast, cya.
  10. Yera router would be the way to go. Plus if you have wireless and (from the sounds of it) multiple comps in the house you likely have one already, so just plug both in and transfer away.
  11. Pretty much what I expected... its easy to see what each question is there for heh. I'd disagree with antisocial because I think I interpretted the social questions in an odd manner, but otherwise I'd say it's actually quite accurate.
  12. This is indeed like my second home, but unfortunately that will change in about a month when I return to classes from the work term I've been on since January. Usually I get to work and open asta in a browser window before anything else haha, then usually pop on a couple times a night after that if I'm around. I'll still make sure to stop by alot come September... just not nearly as much I'm afraid.959? Common M^E, man up and break 1000... I think you owe it to humanity itself OMGOMGOMG!
  13. Haha, I'm thinking about telling you we need to take it outside, but the others are good I guess since dhanesh hasn't annoyed me yet he's trying to make up for lost time haha
  14. Anyone who wants me on msn need only pm me to get my addy, I just don't throw it up on forums usually... too many creepos out there lol
  15. I know I have over 200 credits built up so m^e probably has over a thousand by now. Also I think the contest forum just kind of faded out of existence in one of the board shifts that occurred. Not 100% sure though,. could have been a problem with it (like when the ability to transfer credits was here...then not..then here...then etc)Also... I don't complain about being like the girl of the forums...sometimes the things you say are just mean though *sniff*
  16. Yes, I did indeed edit his post...maybe his post had nothing to do with this? Maybe I've concocted this entire thread as a way to raise morals? Maybe I'm actually a non-corporeal uber-being sent forth to make people think they are replying to one thread when actually its another, MWHAHAHAHAHA!Actually he had put a note for a mod to edit something for him, so I did, because that's the kind of guy I am hahaI'm really glad everyone posting here is happy with asta and glad everyone is happy the job myself and the other mods and the higher ups are doing. Answering the types of questions you guys have brought to my attention is part of being a mod I love, along with smashing the spammers who think they can sneak by undetected VIVA LA Xisto! :o :o
  17. Sure I'll help you. But by that I mean I won't help you. So in essence I'll help you by not helping you, so that you help yourself, and thus are both helped and not having me help you.
  18. I never even noticed when I had been here a year... when I first came here I wasn't very active and barely kept my site afloat credit wise. Luckily that's all changed since then so that I can become an uber-mod of d00m haha. But on a more serious note, glad to see you have and still are enjoying your stay here man. You've never annoyed me so I'm sure thats a good sign, glad to have you kicking around.
  19. Alright, I'm currently creating an interface program for a MS Access database. I've only used Access once in the past but used other DB's a handful of times so I didn't have any trouble getting the general program created. My issue arose when I tried to make it so that the users needing to use the program can just copy the .exe and the .mdb files and use it.The program doesn't require users to share the database but to store their OWN programs information in their OWN database, so basically each needs to have their own database with the exact same design. The original plan was to just get them to copy over a near empty .mdb with the design set up and have them slowly create their own dataset with it. However, upon copying these files between my computer and others it ends up allowing my interface program to retrieve data from the DB but not write any new entries to it. All security permission on the file itself are set to allow read/write to everyone so I'm not sure what's causing this. Is there any other security settings I should worry about? Everything I could find within access seemed to be set so that it could be used freely so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. You people seem to think they're actually going to release vista heheSaying its the most secure windows is kind of incorrect. Sure its secure against current threats... BUT many independant security researchers have stated it's riddled with holes... just different ones. SImply because its in beta and not alot of people are running it doesn't mean its secure, it just means there isn't enough people on it to attract the darker denizens of the interwebs.I've lost all hope for vista... the only reason I could hypothetically end up using it is if they start releasing games that require it.
  21. Frankly I'd rather see the dev's pour all that money into actual developement instead of spending cash, time, and resources creating a booth and demos just for a couple day event. Give us information filled press conferences, demos that actually show off the game rather then flashy videos trying to sucker in hype, keep the dev's working on making good games rather then ones that can look shiny in time for E3, and maybe even keep preview videos to real time graphics rather then "estimated graphical performance".While I always thought it'd be cool to road trip it down there and get my *bottom* into E3... I still wouldn't see this as a bad developement if it goes down.
  22. I would assume the first time it happened someone knocked a bottle of diet coke over, it ran onto a package of mentos, and a mess ensued
  23. I dunno, I don't think we can call this one, there are alot of possible ways for this to turn out really well or really poorly. If they manage to come up with an innovative solution to something that either company alone could not do, possibly it'll be the best move the company ever made. If they simply end up thinning their resources amongst a two front war? Probably won't end well at all. Only time will tell I guess.
  24. Less on the cloning issue and more on the "choosing traits" issue is one thing you should consider... is removing a genetic defect "Choosing traits"? Would you still oppose such procedures if you knew that, based on you and your spouse's genetics, that there was a high percent chance of you having a child with a major birth defect? Could you still say it's immoral to pick and choose traits if those 'traits' are actually detremental to a beings health? and if you feel that its ok as long as its to simply make them healthier... how is that any better? If we can't make us stronger to be more likely to survive how is that any different then making someone else less suceptible to a particular ailment?Just to clarify so no one says I contradict myself, I like pointing out different thought patterns, not that I necessarily agree with them Its fun to keep people thinking.
