Well first you need to decide if you want to actually round it, or just drop it to the 0.05 below it. What I mean is, normally 1.99 would round to $2.00 not $1.95 if rounding to the nearest 5 cents :PPast that, personally my method would be to do something along the lines of taking the value, in cents, and modding by 5. If the remainder (value after modding) is 0, 1, or 2, return the value minus that remainder (dropping 1.92 for example to 1.90) or if it is 3 or 4, it could return the value plus 5 minus the remainder (bringing 1.93 to 1.95, for example).I hope that makes sense as I just got to work so don't have the time to put it into actual code form

What's The Deal With Game Cheats? Games and its cheats
Jeigh1405241495 replied to lonelym's topic in Science and Technology
I enjoy this, because you are talking about cheating like it's breaking a crime. If a game creator leaves dev tools in as cheats, OR programs in cheats that go above and beyond these original testing options, it is there prerogative. Further it is their right to do so with these 'cheats' whatever they want to do. Past this, others can cheat or exploit or anything else they want to do with a game. Sure it might not be the experience many of us would choose, but if this is what they want it isn't our right to stop them. The game creator can ban cheaters if they want, but thats about the strongest course of action they could take. And I don't know about selling, but of course game companies have for many years told others about the cheats. I mean those prima strategy guides come out WITH the games and yet have insane cheat codes or exploits or whatever that you could never just happen upon, you'd either need to be told or hack the code and search it thoroughly, which would take ages and never be ready for launch day.So in conclusion, I agree with the others, freedom is present. Sometimes it leads to things we, or you, don't agree with. That's life. -
Indeed, I know many people here who moved from Asian countries originally for school, live here legally now, and barely associate with any non-asians, usually from there own country. Now this is not to single out asians, it is simply my personal experience so I sue them as an example. I've seen similar with other ethnic groups as well. The non-taxing thing, make them legal and they'll be taxed, of course they'll avoid being taxed because if they are taxed they'll be DEPORTED. If you are illegally in a country you wont go screaming to ask to be taxed if being found is equivalent to being sent home.Personally again I dont see a problem with the whole lots of people living in a one person apartment or whatever, I know technically its against the rules but just like working for less wages, if these people are willing to live in *BLEEP* conditions why not let them? It is there choice to do so, just because we are spoiled as a culture doesn't mean everyone who comes here should need to be.And finally, I will agree with the lack of quality issue. This is sometimes the case, sometimes not, just like with legal workers and should be regulated properly. Unfortunately just like someone with incompetent legal workers its not hard to "convince" inspectors to look the other way, but this isn't even an issue of illegal immigration frankly. So yes, to sum up I still dont think illegal immigration causes anywhere near the problems people think. The media has told us it causes all these issues so the general populace believes it, not surprising, but not necessarily true.

A Man's Home Is His Castle
Jeigh1405241495 replied to mtnbluet's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I had a decent treehouse at my place, but it was more like a ladder with a wooden box in the trees, nothing fancy lol. Might have had a window or something to throw water balloons out of Years after we stopped using it it came crashing down in a huge storm that moved the trees. Moral? Be careful when building them hahaha -
Haha that looks kinda fun, personally I'm not a fan of more intense games that are cel-shaded, but if you like that look I can imagine that'd be a pretty cool game to try, especially for free. Interested to see some other peoples opinions of it

Those are intense, awesome stuff indeed. I've seen some before but wow, always amazes me what people with enough money can do <_<And I have to say, Aniki, that's a refreshing outlook. Personally I've always been of the mindset "If I'm comfortable and can provide for my family, I'll be happy" but so many people are obsessed with getting rich and living large. Glad to see I'm not alone haha. I'll have to stick with having a normal treehouse in the backyard I guess -
Review And Rate My New Logo
Jeigh1405241495 replied to delivi's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I agree with the others, its a great logo. Unfortunately I also agree that it is a bit disconnected and slightly differently colored on the site itself. But past finding a solution to that which you decide upon using, it looks phenomenal. I'm a big fan of simple elegance and thats what the logo is to me. Very nice looking without being in your face and blatant. I'd rather have someone look at a logo or image and like it rather then have them FORCED by sheer intensity of the image to look at it. Very well done, fix the disconnection with the background on the site itself and you have a great logo. -

Cms Good For Me? is there one that has what i need
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Sten's topic in Software
I would recommend just going for a full blown CMS and then simply ignoring any features that are extra. For example, if you use drupal or one of the other more common ones you can easily obtain a visual scheme that suits you from the large repositories available and then add the basic items you want and leave out any features that are more advanced then you want. Frankly a lot of CMS systems out now are so straight forward I personally wouldn't see the point of using one that is weaker, it might take an extra couple clicks to add a news post or something but once you decide to add this or that, the ability is there rather then being heavily limited by using a stripped down product. Just my $0.02But yea, as long as you get drupal, joomla, etc (I"m blanking on names of others right now). Any of the well known ones, they'll have the features you need, some you wont, and lots of skinning options without having to actually code a thing. I'd say you should at least look into it before convincing yourself you need the weaker not entirely cms version of a cms. -
I assume they drop it to a default resolution or something to limit filesizes or transfer speeds required or (insert reason here) haha. If everyone uploaded DVD quality ripped video that could be replayed at that quality I assume youtube would implode. Then again, I've never done the youtube upload thang so maybe I'm way off base here haha.

What If A Pc Running Xp Boots Very Slowly?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to dserban's topic in Websites and Web Designing
What, exactly, do you want the information for? I mean, are you just going to shut off whatever takes the longest? I think you can get programs that tweak a few settings in the boot sequence (not sure on that) but otherwise everything that boots, boots for a reason. Basically the slow aspect of main concern is that its Windows XP You'll never be able to make it boot super fast. At least not the pre-visible desktop portion. If you're talking the computer boots, windows boots, you login, and then it takes forever for the desktop to appear and programs to stop popping on and whatnot, check for spyware, turn off useless programs that boot "on startup", keep the desktop clean, and just generally dont let your computer get clogged full of garbage. These will all not only speed up boot but make the system run smoother on the whole. -
I believe that the choice should not be made for the mother. This is not to say I'm pro-abortion. On the contrary, excluding extreme scenarios (pregnancy after rape for an example) I feel abortion should be avoided when possible, but at the same time I dont think it's our place to force this choice onto mothers. You obviously have religious motivation to your choice, while I am Christian I don't think abortion should be banned because of this. People should always be given a choice to do what is 'right' or 'wrong' (I'm not saying abortion is wrong). Now, abortion only kills a child if you consider it a 'child' the day of conception. Frankly to me, if there is no heartbeat and not even a formed fetus except a mass of egg/sperm then frankly I don't see it as killing a being any more then using a condom would be killing a child or nocturnal emission would be killing a child. Further there are cases where having a child simply because you dont agree with abortion would lead that child down a life much, much worse then death. Abusive parents, poverty to an extent of death by starvation, life in prison due to crime at a young age just to survive, etc. So yes, while personally I can't see me ever encouraging someone to go through with an abortion if I got her pregnant, I think the choice should be hers to make. Not the respective government wherever she resides.

Obviously too much of it could cause problems, but overall its a good thing. Also since your age is a factor that complicates the issue, then its not that they steal 'our' jobs, its that they steal your jobs I dont know, I have a hard time knocking illegal immigrants because they are willing to do work that most people native to a country wont do for that low, meaning they have a greater desire to do the work for less rewards... we built capitalism, here are the consequences
-
I kind of flip back and forth on this issue, but currently I have no problem with illegal immigration. Most people immediately assume that illegal immigration hurts an economy, which isn't actually true in the majority of cases in industrialized countries. You see, people need money in order to spend it, thus having people making money and spending it on other products in turn helps the economy. Therefor, by having the immigrants coming in and doing our low level jobs, they make and spend money (albeit less usually) thus freeing the native workforce to become more well trained, taking on higher level and higher paying jobs, thus stimulating the economy further. The only time sealing a country off from the outside world helps an economy is when its developing, as a developing nation cant compete on the global market. Once developed, however, economies which see illegal immigration often see more positive then negative aspects. Unfortunately the people just see the easy low level jobs being taken and freak out because they might need to actually put some thought and effort into their choice of career now

Change Skin speeds up your computer
Jeigh1405241495 replied to MediYama's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I used windows classic for a long LOOOONG time and automatically that was always my first thing on a fresh computer was to change it. I still can't use the default xp theme for long, I have to switch to silver at least. I hate the bright colors of the default, it just looks too plasticy and toyish for me. Too distracting. As for the things listed above, you can get a significant performance boost with them. I know on my old computer windows xp was sluggish so I killed almost all the graphical doo-dads and it ran nice and smooth even on a very low end system. Worth testing each one, seeing if the visual loss is acceptable, and seeing if there is any noticeable performance boost. -
Exactly, posting a topic in the reviews section or wherever is fine, for sure. We aren't going to be linkaphobes all over the board as long as they are handled in a respectable manner. We just keep the shoutbox clean of them for the various reasons depicted. The shoutbox is too easily accessed and seen to clutter with that junk.

I know of a lot of paid hosting that is less reliable then Xisto's free hosting If you are going the free route, this is the company you want to do it with, no question about it. The time commitment in order to keep hosting is not extensive especially if you are able to react intelligently to topics and make well thought out posts quickly and efficiently. Further you can gain a surplus of credits and not need to constantly be visiting the forums if that is your wish. Regardless it is not a great trouble for a very high quality hosting solution.More importantly, why not try it out? It takes very little time to get 10 or 30 credits and then once your application is processed, try asta for awhile. Worst case scenario something displeases you and you leave, or switch to computinghosts paid services. Either way all you will be losing by trying asta is a little time, and who can't spare that :POh, and I agree, we have an awesome staff

I would imagine it's much much more complicated. I've never used a version of game maker with any sort of code in it, but the whole point of it is to make game creation easy. Creating games of any real quality in true code is much more in depth and difficult. If you aren't looking for a challenge VB would be easier to learn then C++ but C++ is cooler haha. Either way I still suggest trying to learn them just don't expect them to be on the same level as what you saw in GMAgain this is all an assumption based off the fact that game maker is made specifically to take the coding OUT of game creation.

Safari For Windows? My Safari on Windows opinion and review
Jeigh1405241495 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Software
Windows has the market so knows it doesn't need to care about the mac market yet. Apple also knows it does NOT have the market, so needs to push its products to as many people as possible. It makes sense they would release products on the windows platform. Its the same logic as when they switched to intel processors. Sure it might allow more non-apple access to their systems but at the same time it increases the user base. -
Safari For Windows? My Safari on Windows opinion and review
Jeigh1405241495 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Software
Sadly I have to agree with all this. With all the ways Apple has moved forward in (relative) recent history you would think they would know better then try lackluster tactics to grab users' attention like this. Revamp the browser and release it new on both platforms simultaneously at a level that is an actual competitor and this might make some semblance of sense but as it currently stands the only people I imagine would be interested are those like us testing it for plausibility and those who are addicted to make so much that they only use safari on mac and will now bring it with them on a jump drive in case they are ever forced onto a windows platform pc in the future :PI'll be sticking with FF, in case that wasn't clear -
They're willing to take risks and make the music they want instead of generic boring stuff, thats enough to warrant my fan-dom
-
I like all of their music. Whenever they release a new album it always takes a few listens for it to grow on me, but they just have a way of keeping me enjoying it. I rarely like whole cds, usually I only like a few songs on any given album, but with LP its rare that I cant find something I like about all their songs. I actually really liked collision course, it was really well done and brought together LP with another amazing artist. Not only that but it showed their personal side a bit as you can tell the guys had a blast making that one.To summarize I have liked and probably will like all linkin park material They keep evolving their general sound, but it never fails to please.

Free Hosting - 15gb Space - 250gb Bw Believe it or not
Jeigh1405241495 replied to translector's topic in General Discussion
I haven't tried this particular hosting service, but from what I've read I'm not surprised. With the notable exception of gmail and those that followed it, the majority of services that take a single appealing aspect of any given service type and push it to unprecedented proportions are often lacking in other significant ways and try to draw in attention and users/customers on the basis of the one stellar aspect. It wouldn't surprise me if a web host offering THAT much space/bandwidth either had some strings attached or was lacking in some noteworthy ways. -
I Didn't Know Only English Sites Were Accepted
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Matoking1405241541's topic in Web Hosting Support
Free webhosts assumedly gathers there own information about hosting sites. It doesn't have a direct affiliation with them so you can't expect a site like that to necessarily have all pertinent information about a host. I'm sure it's mostly reliable information but you should be too shocked when something like this occurs and they forget to mention a piece of information about any given host.As far as why only english sites allowed, or to try to get around it, you'd have to go higher then me to find those answers.
