Exactly, as stated a c++ compiler can, will, and SHOULD be able to compile c code without problem. Since c++ contains all of c, plus all the things special to c++ it is logical to assume one compiler can compile both c and c++. Now, c++ code shouldn't be able to be compiled in a c compiler since its lacking the capabilities to do so.If you really care, you should get a super super basic c compiler and try it out to see the problems that come when you compile c++ code in a c compiler. I imagine some c compilers are actually given the c++ compiling capabilities now just in case.

Hm, I never really paid attention to that but I probably have codecs to run .mov's in mp as well, I'll have to check and re-set my file associations if that is the case. I hate quicktime haha.

I have oracle, that's the problem. I want it to be able to run WITHOUT oracle installed, but all my systems that I have access to have oracle installed and require it to stay installed for other dev work. The client computers will not have oracle installed unless required so I'm trying to avoid it if possible.
-
This may be the stupidest question ever, I don't know, but frankly if this exists it would help me out a lot haha. What I'm looking for is an oracle database set up somewhere that has an open uname/password for the public to use for testing or anything really. I'm just developing something that needs to connect to our oracle db here but we don't want the computers to be required to have the oracle client installed. Currently though all the computers I have access to here DO have it installed and need it to stay for the time being, and I can't access our oracle DB externally so basically I'm looking for any oracle db I can test my app with that I can access from my home rig since it's clean of anything oracle (as the target computers for this app will eventually be).I don't want to go through the hassle of hunting down a free system, clean installing it, and testing the app, so I'd be much obliged if anyone knows if some mystical public access oracle database exists haha. But yea, like I said, might be the stupidest question ever. Personally I would assume this doesn't exist because it would be begging for malicious users to play with it, but who knows. So, anyone know if this exists? haha

I don't know the specific php to accomplish these things as I haven't done any php recently and don't feel like looking up a refresher haha, but the theory seems straight forward enough. For the first, you could simply store in your db a kind of "last access" time for the user, I'm sure there are easily found php scripts to log when users do any significant action, and then just every 5 or 10 minutes compare all the users that are logged in currently lastest access times to the current and if its over whatever threshold you want log that user out.The popup would be similar, I assume you could just set up something to check every 10 or 15 seconds if there is a new message waiting, a simple boolean type flag check would suffice, then if there is retrieve it and pop it up, otherwise continue on. This wouldn't slow it down much I don't imagine since its just a quick check on an interval. An infinite check loop would slow things down but a timed one less so.I assume someone with more specific php knowledge will show up soon enough, but I figure I'd throw out some ideas to maybe point you in a direction at least worth thinking about.

How Does One Take Care Of Stitched Area? stitches
Jeigh1405241495 replied to baby bear's topic in General Discussion
Well, first off I would recommend calling your doctors office and asking them all this If you won't so they don't...um... stick you with a random needle apparently? I'd suggest finding reputable websites about medical information written by actual doctors or medical professionals to find the info you need. Also, you'll need to find out if you have the kind of stitches that disintegrate over time or the type that you need to go back for removal, so you'll likely need to call the doctors office regardless, so might as well ask them this stuff instead of asking people on a tech forum about how to care for your wounds :| -
Haha I was the kid the teachers hated because I could figure them out and break them usually, or at least explain them better then the teacher It was always a blast making the teachers angry by doing things they couldn't react to mwhaha

Well, since the base 10 stays the same for each answer... if you increase the "ones" column by one, it will increase the amount you subtract from by 1 as well (when you do the A1+A2 it will increase by one, making B one greater) but since the A is one higher, and B is one higher, they cancel each other out, leaving the same answer until the "tens" column changes.Basically its just making you increase the left side and right side of the minus sign both by the same value, thus making it X+Z - Y+Z making it always equal X - Y, with the Z's being the increment within the span of numbers evaluating to the same answer.I have no clue if my explanation made it clear or not haha, kinda rushed it

Hehe yea I assumed you meant you only really listen to music to kill time when walking or whatever, and I was in a horrid mood yesterday hence any bitterness in my posts :PBut yea for you I think the shuffle would be quite fine indeed, you are obviously the target demographic But for most people they buy mp3 players specifically so they dont need to only bring that one small sampling of music they currently like, along with no skipping and a smaller size, the larger music collection was a huge draw towards mp3 players over traditional cd players.Personally I just dont get why they wouldn't give the extra features. Really they are limiting the product for the 'shuffle' gimick because adding a screen and a few other basic features would barely affect the overall price to them or us.

First I need to, slightly off topic, say... the idea of someone collecting every iPod makes me very, very sad inside. (plus if you want to do it right, you should be collecting one from each generation of each iPod mwhaha)Now, I'll explain why I need a screen even with liking all music on my mp3 player. First off, I dont always like it all haha. I often get a new album and throw it all on my player in order to give it a listen. This means I want to listen to it once but not necessarily over and over. Now this is easily remedied just by pressing the next button for the time being and ridding the player of that song at your next convenience, ok sure. Now to the more important thing... a lot of people actually feel like listening to different songs at different times I like a huge array of music, from classical to metal to rap but these are not all musical types that necessarily flow well together. I don't think jumping from big pimpin' to canon in D is a very nice musical flow frankly. Sure if you just dont care or like a certain genre or whatever then the full shuffle is fine but some of us like to have a wide variety of music with us but are not always in the mood for all that music. My musical tastes switch with my moods on a regular basis and I dont want to have to re-fill my mp3 player on a nightly basis just because they wouldn't put a cheap screen on it.My 2 cents
-
Personally I would never use the shuffle haha. I originally had the predecessor to your MuVo as my first mp3 player, and it lacked a screen. The only reason this was acceptable is that it was back when 128mb was a big mp3 player so really it only fit about 20 songs and it wasn't hard to find what I wanted when I wanted it. Anything at 256mb or bigger, however, I would never be able to stand no screen. Unlike you, I love music for the music, so constantly have headphones in or on with various tunes pumping and randomly decide I want certain songs to play. With screens so cheap and tiny available it still doesn't make sense to me not to at least have a super simplistic screen on the shuffle's.Its interesting that you MuVo died, mine had a similar fate where it just randomly stopped booting after awhile, I never knew about the temperature issue so maybe that was it, who knows.Currently I roll with an iRiver (no connection to iPod heh) and love it. I almost did get an iPod mini when I got this one but there was a solid price difference at that time. Honestly nowadays the very large majority of mp3 players are decent or better. I bought one for my mom for $30, holds a gig or more, and has solid sound quality and features. Unless you are a complete audiophile or technophile you should be able to find a player that hits your budget and features required list dead on with a bit of research.

I've played this one before a few times, I enjoy the bird hunting mode but hate the others, it zooms in too close or something, I hate not being able to see where I'm trying to hit, but otherwise a very fun little net game.

A Beginner Wanting To Learn How To Make A Web Game
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Ribz's topic in Computer Gaming
Wow, well first off I would recommend making a normal website just to learn the ropes. Creating an online text based game as your first exposure to any html (or more complex 'languages' such as php which you'll need in order to make such a game) is basically asking for trouble. If you bite off more then you can chew you will likely end up accomplishing little or nothing of value and just getting frustrated.Try going to primer and tutorial html sites, going through them slowly, learn the ins and outs of the basics so you have a solid foundation to build off of. Then you can move onto more complex ideas so that as you learn the parts that are complicated you aren't worrying about learning the basics too. This way you can compartmentalize the pieces you need to learn rather then having one huge surge of new things you try to learn and thus potentially attempt too great a feat. It's great to see that you are ambitious, but you must also be realistic So yes, to answer your question, my suggestion is to start by learning the basics of html, then php, then mysql (database stuff, which you'll need for such a game) and then build from there. -
Which Web Editor Software? read this
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Sallender's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I've used dreamweaver products in the past and must say they are amongst the best at what they do. I too am amongst the group that doesn't actually like to use wysiwyg editors, but if I had to I'd return to dreamweaver in a heartbeat. I used it for a few low end sites back when I started out making pages and it made it very easy to get a feel for what was or was not possible with html. Unfortunately with so many things like css, html, xml, php, etc I can't see that being as easy a use for one of these visual editors as before.Still the dreamweaver products are always top of their game so if you don't want to actually dig in a learn the code, this is your best bet. It may not be able to handle all the fancy bells and whistles of the latest and greatest techs but can at least allow a relative novice to produce a nice, professional looking webpage with minimal effort or learning time. -
I voted yes, even though I wont be getting one haha. Assuming I HAD the money available to me I don't think it's that horrible of a price, really. All cell phones strap you down with some contract for a couple years unless you want to pay $300 for a basic phone, so thats not biggie to me. The plan is expensive but its more then just a basic phone plan so again, makes sense, and the phone itself is damned sexy, advanced, etc, so again it makes sense its more. This is how technology works, the new stuff is way more expensive until it becomes more widely used and produced then prices can drop (really thats more general economics then techonomics).Do I think it will become super commonplace? yes. Not quickly, sort of like the iPod did. At first geeks will worship those who were able to get one or afford one, then they'll release ever cheaper more mainstream versions until everyone has one, and frankly I cant wait. I've always wanted a PDA or something similar but they never warranted the prices. Now I can get something those would do basically all the things I'd want out of a mobile device, so once I can afford one I wouldn't care if it was 'cool' or not, I'd want one for the features. Sure others will buy them because they are the new snazzy gadget on the market, but that happens with every product type. This is a trend that happens over and over, the only reason people seem to care is because apple manages to do it time and time again

I didn't really look deep into that site, but assuming you post links to download full illegal version of all the software you discuss on the 'blog' then you'd be best looking for a different host.
-
If the media you present links to is legal then yes, if it illegal warez, copyrighted materials, etc you can't host links to it. We don't want to host sites that are basically search engines for warez and get by legalities by hosting the media on other sites To me, it sounds like you want to start a blog to point to these things and thats why you are asking. IF I'm wrong, in that you mean you just want to point to videos of people doing funny things or whatever, publicly shared video I mean, then sure. As long as its not illegal content you are trying to direct people to its fine.Possibly if you explain more clearly what you plan to do I or another staff member could more precisely answer.

Um, 480mb :|You get more space and bandwidth with the larger package, the credits required to maintain the account is the same. And welcome aboard

Digital Lockets! digital picture lockets
Jeigh1405241495 replied to trinifawk's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Man that thing is ugly, haha. I agree with the 'cool idea' portion, but damn son, that is an ugly, UGLY thing. I think a girl would slap me if I bought that for her unless she was 10.That being said, I HAVE seen some similar items, silver chains with digital electronics on the end, but they were small lcd panels so you could put a personal name, word, design, etc on them. They actually looked cool and were refined and didn't look like a toy. Basically I think a digital locket could be cool, but it cant be a bulky toy-looking thing such as this one. Unless it is, in fact, for kids to just mess around with. -
Microsoft To Extend X360 Warranty By 3 Years
Jeigh1405241495 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Computer Gaming
I doubt it will be sorted out really, people are loving them for offering the extended warranty, no one will care that much if 1/10 systems eventually dies but is quickly replaced for free, etc. I imagine its cheaper for MS to just replace the ones that die then to design around the flaw. This is, of course, just speculation however. -
Well, I do not have this program myself but I'll run through a few things worth checking. First, as always, I'll reccomend running your spyware/adware programs to clean the system, while probably not the culprit since its always this one program being sluggish you never know, and it never hurts to clean off the old drives so might as well. Past this, go into the program and check if it has any "on startup" maintenance it runs, you may be able to schedule these things to run in the middle of the night or on demand rather then on the program initialization. Finally, I'd recommend checking on the actual kapersky forums or forums that handle anti virus programs more specifically so you can get responses from people who are more focused on this type of software. Good luck

Oh cool, yea it's not like I cared about helping someone on homework, it just had a real computer-science-assignmenty feel to the question so figured I'd ask my curiosity always gets the best of me so I dont bother fighting it anymore.

Spam Because Mail In Aplication Formas
Jeigh1405241495 replied to marcin's topic in Web Hosting Support
Apparently I don't have the rights to edit that post haha, so you'll have to wait for an admin to see this. Although it's odd that you noticed such an increase, I haven't heard anything of this since I started here nor did I notice it on my own account. -
Network Storage W/o Router SATA HD Enclosure for my Dorm
Jeigh1405241495 replied to patchcr's topic in Computer Networks
I'd say the best option would be to go the usual router/network setup and just connect the drive to a third pc, you could get some old *bottom* used pc for like 50 bucks that could do the job, wouldn't need a monitor once you set it up, and you could use it for other things such as a shared printer server or something to that effect, plus adding further shared space would be simple. You could easily get the whole setup going for under $100 and it'd be much better in the long run probably. Seems like buying a special enclosure just to avoid having a traditional network is more effort then its worth, since traditional networks became traditional for a reason, they are awesome -
Awesome, thanks for throwing that into code form faulty, mine woulda been pseudo-code anyways since I haven't used strict vb in awhile haha. Good stuff <_<Oh and its not like I mind, but just curious, is this for homework? hah
