  1. For .rmvb to .mpeg: Click Here! And here is some more information about converting from .rmvb: Click here. Hope that helps!
  2. heres a good example. I think simplity is the most important, not only does it make it easier to use, but it just looks better. For example: Good (nice looking, easy to use. I like the tabs, you just know were you are. ) Bad (not too bad looking, but not as easy to navigate.) Keep it simple. The other thing is (and I know there are people here who won't agree with me) don't use flash! Flash has it's purposes, but I hate sites that use flash for navigation. It's just annoying.
  3. I think you'd be surprised how many people don't know about pie day. I work at a bakery and the manager/head-baker had never heard of Pi Day! It was a good thing we told him, because everyone wanted there Pi Pies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is absolulty amazing to me! (so why the heck are we still calculating!? )
  4. I don't know how sarcasting you're trying to be, but thats not really a "coincidence".... And as for Goolge using e, thats (probably) not a coincidence either.... Google just did it 'cause it was cool! Like when I have to choose a number between 1 and 10, I say 3.1415926.... BTW: NilsC, good eye!
  5. I would use StuffIt. I didn't know it was Mac-only. I've only use a Mac for my .sit-ing, so I never knew it was a problem on Windows. So would you all suggest .zip conpression? Maybe I'll .zip files on my website instead of .sit-ing them. (And if you really have problems with it you could send it (email or something) to me and I would un-.sit the file then .zip it and send it back. Just PM me. ...if you trust me! )
  6. yeah, it's annoying to me too sometimes when it takes out those small words. I usually just use parenthesis, but some times I can't remember exactly how somethings goes, so parenthesis don't help me.
  7. Well, I haven't tried most of them. I've only used Invision Power Board and phpBB. I like IPB better. Right "out of the box" it has more features and customizations. phpBB does have some nice hacks and stuff out there, but you've got to do some remodeling to add some extra stuff. I would like to try some of these other ones.
  8. My favorites: (on my Mac) 1) Safari (really good web browser for Mac OS X. Of course not IE. For anyone using IE, you should no there are lots of Freeware browsers that are better than IE. ) 2) Mail (email app, very nice) 3) ImageWell (awsome little app that lets you drop a file on it, do a little editing (add notes, arrows, crop, rotate) then uploads to FTP. Very handy and quick.) 4) iTunes (listen and organize my music, and it's free.) 5) Adium (good multi-protocol chat client: AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, Jabber, ICQ, Gadu-Gadu (never heard of it, or any of the next ones:), Lotus Sametime, Novell GroupWise, Napster, Zephyr) AND ALL OF THEM ARE FREEWARE! I love freeware...
  9. I'm another Christian - a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be exact. (I'm a "Mormon" for those of you who don't know )
  10. Well,,,, yes, you can, but you're not supposed to remove it. I like it though. I think it lloks good to have a sereach "powered by Google" Then people know how goo it is. Thats just my opinion There are some ways to get around this. One thing I have done is used frames (I don't do it anymore, because I don't like frames) and just have your serach, in one frame, but keep another one that has some links back to your page. Another thing you could do is have the serach open a new window, then when they are done searching they can close that window and be back to your page. Thats what I would do If I were you. Have fun!
  11. Macs are great machines and if you're looking to buy one don't forget about Apple's education discount. If you're a student (you must be in college) or a teacher or work for a school you can get a good discount. It's about 10% off for most products. That means you can get a nice Mac min for only $449 USD. I think I might just get one...(also you can get 10% off with the education discount if you want to buy a new iPod!)
  12. Well i'm glad I could help! you have an iPod then, eh?
  13. I've got 49 if anyone is looking. But yeah, I don't know why they are still doing it based on invites. I bet there are more unused invites then there are people in the world. What's the point?
  14. I like the feature. It's not something life changing but it will can save me some time. Sometimes I do have trouble thinking of a good keyword. I think this is just another great example of Google's ingenuity and search (no pun intended) for a better product. Thats what I like about them.
  15. Yes, there is. In fact there are tons of them. One of my favorites is the iSkin. You can order them online at iSkin.com. It covers the screen with a clear protective cover and the rest of the iPod with a cool gel-like cover thats comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns. What's best about using a case like the iSkin is that you never have to take it off and it protects the whole thing from scratches. (the metallic-silver back of the iPod can get dome annoying scratches.) What ever your need there is something to cover your 'Pod.
  16. I've never played it. I thought it looked really cool and I liked the training idea. I tried to play it but my computer was too slow for it. I like the structured game. the way I see it most first person shooters are just mindless... shooing. Which is okay from time to time, but I like the idea of America's Army, where you have to train and you have, what are they called, honor points? I like a good "story line". Someday i'll try it out.
  17. Thats what is so strange. I didn't change my password and I could still log into my cpanel. My password has been changed and I can still log into cpanel, but still can't log into FTP.
  18. I've been FTPing for a long time and then one day (I think it was last week some time.) both of my FTP clients gave me a message that says "Incorrect username/password". It still won't let me FTP. Any ideas?
  19. New iPods! I want one. AppleRumors.com was saying that new iPods were coming including a color screen mini. I was doubtful of a color screen, but was hoping since Apple Rummors, who most of the time cites Think Secret as there info source, is usually pretty close in their predictions. Think Secret said that the new iPods could be seen as early as Wednesday, Feb 23 (today). SO I check Apple.com this morning and there wasn't any signs yet. Then I checked again at luch and lo and behold there were new minis and photos! The current mini, 4 GB, was dropped $50 to $200 and they tntroduced a new 6 GB mini. The best part 18 hours of battery life! There was also the new 30 GB photo and they dropped the 40 GB iPod.
  20. I don't think there is really anything to worry about at this point. Google is just using this as part of it's targeted advertising and won't be using it to control the world or anything. I am going to read that article, but for now I'm not too worried about Google...Edit:SO I check out the site and I thought those guys were a little crazy. Some of that stuff is true, I'm sure Just because there are people making some good money, or even some corruption, doesn't mean that we shouldn't use Google. There isn't any company that is perfect and Google isn't trying to invade people's privacy, just use some unique methods of effective advertising. If people don't trust Google, I can understand, but I will keep using their services.
  21. I like the conversion and calculator; my real favorite is Google definitions. This may have been mentioned before, but for those who don't know, you just type "define:" followed by your word. Heres' an example: Define: cows It's so convenient! I love Google!
  22. I did a slide show once too only using metta content refresh:<META HTTP-EQUIV=REFRESH CONTENT="3; URL=NextFile.html">It made the whole page change, so it's not exactly what like your example. To do what you showed I think the best thing to do would just be to make an animated GIF as firedoor said. Javascript is nice, but not always enabled on all browsers. And of course if you want to make a "slide show" rather than just a changing image, you can you the meta refresh.
  23. Yes, SNES is very fun on the Mac.... I love Donkey Kong. Not the stupid N64 version, but classic DK. Anyway, back to the topic: I had the same thing "switching" to OS X. I have used GS/OS then Mac OS 8 all my life (well a little Commodore and Windows too) until about 5 months ago when I got my iBook. I'm still finding features, but it has been very easy to figure things out. It has a kind of systematic way that controls, features, and files are organized that just makes you breath easier. One great item is the Drag N' Drop. Nearly everything can be controled using this simple, visual method for example: want to make a new book mark? Want to get rid of it? Simple, the way you would think it should be!
  24. I think phpBB is for those who want something really basic or really complex. By it's self, phpBB is really simple and easy to get the hang of, but if you want a lot of customizeable things you can hack it and stuff. I found some great hacks at phpBBhacks.com. Another great thing about phpBB is that you can find so many free skins. It seems like most Invision skins cost a bit of money. On the other hand if you want a lot of easy to use custom options, but don't want to do a lot of "hacking," use Invision. It does some cool things right out of the box. Personaly, Invision works best for my purposes right now. I think most people would find Invision to be the most useful, but both are good, so just decide what you needs and abilities are.
