Anything is an improvement from XP's original style. It looked like some Disney OS or something. I personally prefer Aqua interface of Mac OS X But anything to make XP look better is a good thing!

There is always W3C, but I don't like that site very much. It's not as easy to use. I use HTML Code Tutorial. If I was you and wanted more spots, you could always to a Goolge! Have fun. I love HTML!

Okay, I guess you're talking about the Yellow Stone slide show. And you're right, the Home buttoon is just that little house icon in between the two arrows. I might add a little test below it that says Home or something. Depends on if I have the time. not a lot of time for web developig now... But over the summer! Thanks for the suggestion. No offense taken

I said a lot about the war in another post so I wouldn't go into it except to say that I think it is amazing that the Iraqis are free, have the ability to vote, and are setting up there own democracy. But about Social Security: I don't know enough about how it all works to be able to say if the presidents plan is good or not. What I do know is that something has to be done about SS. Not just higher costs and lower benefits, because thats only going to make younger Americans loose out. I think we need some serious reform. Private accounts sound good to me, but that could just be because I don't know enough about the issue. I just want to see some kind of reform because I'm paying a lot of my income right now to SS and I don't want to see it all gone by the time I'm ready to retire.

Best Search Engine? My money is on Google
Brian1405241474 replied to Darren1405241470's topic in Search Engines
I think over all as a general search engine Google wins. It is fast, loads quick without a lot of images and annoying ads. It's not the only answer though, there are a lot of good search engines out there that work well for specific needs like some of those visual search engines, but for general purposes, its all about Goooooogle. -
That works, but even easier is if you have Mac OS X. When ever you want to print something you have the option to send to the printer, fax, or save as PDF. Then you can make any document PDF just as easier as printing it out: So I have lots of PDF's now. It's just so easy. There might be a way to do that with Windows or Linux. I'm not sure, but for those using Mac OS, it couldn't be more convenient.

Thanks. I thought about telling them that popups needed to be enabled, but I figured that most people would want to temporarily disable popups just to watch the show and then have to block them again. So if you have pop-ups disabled you can just click that one link. Have fun making your own. You can make a really easy one without the music and you don't have to worry about pop-ups being blocked or anything. If you have any questions, I'll like to help people with HTML. You can contact me here or at my forums. I'm certainly not the best, but I'll see if I can help.

Mac Mini Will it convert Windows users?
Brian1405241474 replied to Space Orangutan #2's topic in Science and Technology
Me too! I want to upgrade from my slooow iBook. The mini does have a good price, but I think anyone, unless they only did word prosses and email or something, would probably need more RAM than what comes with the base model. I would say at least an extra 256 MB, which adds an extra $70. Other than that, the mini is a great machine! -
Windows Xp Or Mac Os X
Brian1405241474 replied to enterthematrix's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Despite what everyone thinks, Mac OS X uses a two button mouse! Apple one makes one button mice (why, I don't know) but you can hook up a two button USB mouse and it will work fine. I have a two button mouse myself from Micro Inovations (not the best, but I got it free.) Anyway: I love OS X and I think the reason most people (not all) think Windows is better is because they have hardly used a Mac and are used to Windows. I can belive anyone who says they prefer a Mac, because I know they have used both. Unforunatly you can't get thought life without using Windows (mostly Wintel machines at school) I know there are some people who have used both and still think Windows is better. The only reason I can see for using Windows over Mac OS X is: ⢠You like to play every game as soon as it comes out and don't want to wait for the Mac version ⢠You like to build your own computer. (a lot more resources out there for how to build a PC) ⢠You get sea sick (aqua interface on OS X... okay, bad joke.) For me, I'll stick with the bueatiful, stable, virus-free Mac OS X. For those who don't know how to use Mac OS, need help or have a question: check out this forum with some good Mac Users. -
Boast Your Computers Specs. Feel free to brag
Brian1405241474 replied to chronogamer28's topic in Hardware Workshop
I nned a new computer: iBook G3 clamshell 366 mhz 10 GB HD 512 MB RAM 800x600 CD-ROM (I'm not sure what speed) 56 k modem (I use 1.5 MB/750 k DSL who can stand dial-up?) USB FireWire 400 10/100 ethernet A/V out I need something newer. Like those PowerBooks... -
When you configure it at the Apple Store you can choose your RAM, HD, CD/DVD drive, and keyboard/mouse. They won't be in the same box* as the Mini, but you can get Apple's keyboard and mouse with it. The idea was that people who want a cheap Mac might want to buy a cheap third party keyboard and mouse instead of Apple's high-quality, high-priced keyboard/mouse. *the box the Mini comes in is smaller than the box the iPod come in!

Okay this is so confusing with everyone using there own method for saying "greater than". It would be nice if everyone just did it right: [better > Worse], but anyway:I really have to disagree with you on AMD < Intel (AMD less than Intel). I haven't used AMD much, but everyone I know who has used AMD says that it is much better and I know from my own experience that Intel is not cool. There clock speeds are always too high to make meaningful comparisons (ex: 2 GHz PowerPC is about the same speed as a 3 GHz Intel) I personally (since I'm a Mac Addict, so yes, biased) would say:PowerPC > AMD > Intel (of course using the correct use of > and < )

This is how I see it and I might not be completely accurate, so feel free to correct me:Aside from wether there were or were not WMD or wether we thought there were or not, the UN has been trying to get investigators into Iraq to check for WMD for how long? Iraq was be uncooperative and continuing to deceive the investigators. There were threats made, but Saddam just sat back and relaxed in his mansions, knowing that the UN wouldn't take military action. This went on for years, until after Sept 11 we realized that we needed to defend ourselves against possible threats, so the US decided the the time was finally past for Iraq to cooperate and we stayed true to our warnings of military action, which sends a message to hostile countries that the US won't just play dead, but will make a difference in the world.Even if there never were WMD, Saddam needed to be stopped. People have said that a lot of innocent Iraqis have died because of this war. That is true and I feel bad that that had to happen, but think of the many more that would have been killed and tortured during that same time if Saddam was still in power. He had been committing genocide killing hundreds of thousands of people. And now they will be free. It won't and hasn't been easy, but Iraq is so much better off as it moves towards democracy. I think times are hard from them right now and will get worse before they get better, but it is worth it for them and many of the Iraqis realize that. Some do not and fight democracy, but I think most do. I still remember "L Day" as it was called when I watched on the news as the free Iraqi people tore down the statue of Saddam after they were liberated.I think their are so many positive benefits of this war that it was worth the sacrifice. Not that this war was essential, but I think it made the world a lot better.

You're right. I would much rather use PHP or some other include method, but I couldn't get those to work. and as for JavaScript not being enabled, my pages will still work even with out the includes. The pages just won't look quite as good, but will still be completely functional. But you are right: I wouldn't recommend JS includes either.

The iPod Shuffle Finally, an iPod for any occasion
Brian1405241474 replied to Brian1405241474's topic in Hardware Workshop
Well I would recomend the iPod. Probably a 20 or 40 GB one. You can see them all here at Apple's iPod page. I recomend one of the 20 or 40 GB iPods. I want to get a 20 GB iPod myself. It really depends on what feature ou want though. Some players have extra little features that some people like. What I really like is the way the iPod lets you read text files on the go. Right now I have my computer set up so it will add the news from RSS sites to my iPod, so I can keep up with the news during the day. -
I use includes for all my pages, and I tried to use PHP, but could never to get it to work on my old server so I started using JavaScript includes. I learned all that from this page that has great info about PHP, JS, and other includes.

Well I voted for "Yes", but I'm not sure what your referring too. I think AOL as an ISP is just plain horrible, but as far as AIM goes, well I like it a lot better then MSN Instant Messenger. So I guess over all AOL as a company isn't very good, but there is worse out there.

I think this is a very interesting idea for a topic. As for my beliefs, I am a Christian and while I won't go into the specific beliefs of my denomination, I would like to say my general beliefs are very much the same as the beliefs of CS Lewis. I have read some of his books and found his view of Christianity to be very interesting. I won't go into detail about all he believes, but I like his writting in that they seem very basic scientific and not too "spiritual" or ethereal. I can't really say why I believe that way, other than it just seems right and makes sense (sorry if that isn't a good enough reason). I would recommend his books to anyone. They have an intriguing view on Christianity and even human life and human nature in general and, I think, are not written purely for a Christen audience. Those those are my beliefs

Oh, no! It definitely comes with ethernet so you can use your DSL or whatever. Thats just completely standard so it wasn't mentioned in that quick overview. And of course there is the Wi-Fi and the bluetooth. (Which I'm not sure if I added in that configuration you we're looking at.) Thats funny... It does look about that size though!

Wow, that is really cool. I think i'll have to keep that with my favorite links. I think I'm going to have some fun with this. I wish it was an image so I could copy it easier, but I guess that wouldn't be really easy for them to do. Well it's fun anyway! Thanks for the link!

It's hard to say. You can get more people if you offer incentives, but many will just be there for the prize and won't post good, but you will still get more people and some of those will be good, contributing members. It just depends on your approach to incentives. I have an forum and to get users to come I just try to keep the place nice and add little extras like new emoticons and more avatar galleries. No incentives for more posting.

What OS do you use ?? was just curious about this
Brian1405241474 replied to gokul1405241470's topic in General Discussion
True that. I don't know a lot about Linux's free software, but Mac OS X comes with some great software. iLife is awesome and if you buy a Mac mini, then you can get iLife, Quicken, and a few other cool applications. -
Yeah, it could be growing exponentially very quickly, but it doesn't seem like it is. I guess thats because everyone has one. I've only given out two. I like Gmail, especially now that it supports POP3. I still use my Gawab email as my main account, but Gmail is definitely my second choice.
