  1. I believe that if you use Invision Power Board there is a mod available to transform your links (with sessionID's and other garbage) to more friendly URL's like here on Xisto...to get the mod go to http://mods.invisionize.com/ **this is only for those with INVISION POWER BOARD**
  2. Google has introduced a new feature to it's so popular search engine, this is to keep up with the competition. This feature is still in beta stage so i it may have some flaws... go check it out @ https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en&gws_rd=ssl try searching for something...anything (english only) you'll see immediately what the new feature is... Remember Still **beta**
  3. Kazaa is unreliable and just plain OLD, it has the weakest security features ever and it's a source of virii, bad files, RIAA, etc...LimeWire is a good app only downfall is that it's coded in JAVA which can be slow sometimes...but the Gnutella network has lots of contents...Still i'll stick to Shareaza which as i said can connect/swarm/download/upload to 4 networks at a time without any majoy flaws...+ the fact that it's opensource just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside
  4. there is no such thing as the best OS....sure MAC OSX offers more stability and security over WINDOWS XP but then again windows xp has the advantage of being compatible with almost every program a programmer writes....it's also build for the standard doofus who doesn't know the back from the front of his mouse....so starting a thread in search of the best OS is quite pointless as every OS has it's up's and downs....
  5. i have Gmail, i really hate the stuff, it's like signing up for a marvelous 1 gig account and than BAM the day after you are hit with spam all the way, seemed like someone at google is chipping after hours....therefore i went over to walla....same size no spamthat really did the trick for me
  6. I use the MAC at school for designing, cause the mac just has better resistance against crashes and so....Windows on the other hand allows more programs....so it's too find a balance...
  7. i just heard Xp 2005 MEDIA CENTER EDITION is out...i'll bet old billy is gonna be making a bundle with that one as wellalso i heard that the MSN 7.0 beta is out and they are already working on the 8.0...it's true i've seen pics ...just search a bit on google
  8. get peerguardian or some other ipblockeralso in shareaza you can import a security file that autoblocks known bad IP'S
  9. the beta 7.0 will be blocked they said...so i'll stick to 6.2 until 7.0 comes out...Also for a multi client interface use GAIM, it's free and opensource and it allows MSN, YAHOO, ICQ, and many more....
  10. it depends on the provider..in Belgiumcable: 6.6 mbpsADSL: 3.3 mbps (can go to 8.0mbps with additional costs)+ they're thinking of upgrading to Vdsl so ...yeayalso the IDTV's are comming in the summer of 2005 (interactive tv)and since ADSL (in Belgium) is owned by the governement (Belgacom) i suggest stick to adsl so you will be able to get lots of benefits and additional channels once IDTV is out
  11. they both are pretty slow so i don't think speed should make a difference, Flash is more for Visual things and Java then again is more for basic and advanced programming (code) stuff....so java will still be alive in the next 20 years and so will flash
  12. longhorn will support both, but will lean more to .NET as microsoft thinks .NET is the future, it's a replacement for java and etc.... you know microsoft ^_^They will probably gradually fase it out...over 10 years or so...
  13. smartftp is by far the best, it has almost every feature an ftp client needs and it's completely free...although the subscription popups are quite annoying
  14. I use Shareaza, the nr.1 P2P app of the century...it connects to G1/G2/Ed2K and bittorrent and it allows global searching and other nifty stuff...so it has a userbase of more then 4 million users...go check it out @ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ also has no SPYWARE or ADAWARE and it's OPEN SOURCE !
