  1. Maybe it's a new feature they are building in or something or someone found out a nice hack for google
  2. Notice from jipman: Seems like there's no reason anymore to keep this thing open. The answer has been given and it doesn't seem to me that there'll be much to discuss about this subject.Locking it up
  3. I thought you were a linux person trekkie? [sarcasm]Btw. Did you read the terms of agreement or something well? With some old version of windows mediaplayer they said that you'd have to allow them to disable playback or something if they'd find illegal music on your harddrive [/sarcasm]ps. I didn't know that microsoft was into anti-virus stuff
  4. Wooooooow.....it's even more ugly than I expected it to be. I seriously wonder if microsft targets the younger kids with this interface. I can't imagine any grownup to actually like such a hideous creature. :|
  5. Probably, as long as the company makes profit, they won't care about any morale. Just remember what the main goal of a company is : To make profit.Whatever they say, the goal is money, that's why it's a company. Although they claim alot that they want us to be happy, they don't.That's what I like so much about the opensource idea, you share stuff and work on it with other people for fun and getting better at programming or whatever. Without having to worry about licenses and fees.
  6. fotisp, what would there be to improve on a chat program except for the chatting? It's way too bloated for a mere chatting app, seems like they are more and more integrating surfing and chatting to keep users with them. And of course, the default skin is ugly.
  7. Guess not.... Isn't it so that only the one who has created the software has the possibility of sueing people who are not complying.
  8. America has an agreement with the netherlands to allow them to come and get criminals that have done something evil against america . The dutch government is also pushing the isp's to keep more records of what their subscribers do on the net. I'm not really a criminal mastermind though, although i do happen to do some bit of pranks once in a while. btw ruben, you mean that you want to be able to leave the house with the door right open? Call me paranoid, but you trust your government too much, they are just people like you and me, and not some failsafe machine that guards everyone of us. And seeing which lame laws they are trying to pass again here (tax on mp3 players), with everytime they think up of something this useless again, I lose a bit more confidence in them.
  9. Which brings us to the point of:THe thing only works on reasonable thin clothing which is dark colored. The reason why it works on the mannequin is that it doesn't send out any infrared rays itself. The human itself does (although for just a tiny bit). This is enough to distort the picture enough to make it not usefull anymore.
  10. Wikipedia has this to say about UML You can't really UML a non-OOP program because there would be nothing to make from it. The idea of oop is to have several separated classes which all together perform a task, instead of having one program that does it all. The advantage of oop is that with larger programs, you won't lose 'control' over them and can more easily maintain them BECAUSE they are loose components. Ti-basic (which is like any other basic language) doesn't work this way, since they are usually one program file and they usually just run through the code line by line. And although it will work for simpler programs, you'll lose control of your program with bigger ones and updating will be hard. The only thing you could use from UML is use case diagrams (example : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) But that wouldn't be really usefull when coding. The most usefull things of UML are class-diagrams and sequence diagrams, which you can't create for non-oop programs since they are not built of loose components.
  11. Still can't figure out what ports to forward in order to play the game. It's also still a beta and the way the game works kinda suck *bottom*. Instead of connection to one gameserver you connect to every single other player, which makes it much more laggy.
  12. plot, you don't sound like someone who has ever used a MAC (can't say I have tried mac either). But you shouldn't write things off if you don't even know them.
  13. Notice from jipman: Alright... Everyone's using this topic to spam about how safe it is and stuff.. Which isn't what the Topicstarter asked for. If only you guys actually read the previous posts in the topic.....There are no usefull replies here now. I'm locking this one upIWroteCode, if you do want it unlocked again, PM a mod or and admin.
  14. Strictly, I think that if the language needs a compiler, it is called programming eg. C, java, Perl... If you don't need compiler but a interpreter (which means you don't have to encode the program to machinecode) it is called scripting. Like php, asp...
  15. Since 99,9% of the computer peeps like the idea of having bundled software with all bells and whistles attached to it. Companies strategy-departments probably will play into that by giving bundled software with all bells and whistles.Did you know, google knows a lot about you.If you have Gmail they know what you send and receive and get your IP too. If you use google search they know what you are interested in and what you are looking for. With google talk they know who your friends are. With googlemaps they know what places you are interested in.It wouldn't surprise me if the Feds or the CIA made some kind of sneaky deal with google to let them search for terrorist thingies :PSeriously, my point with this is that with that bundling up, people gradually lose their privacy, and they are happy about it too, because they can now easily access their emails and talk to their friends without hassle ;)Side note. It does seem that more and more people are crossing over to Opensource software doesn't it? At least something good happened...
  16. Sandisk or Sony wouldn't matter much, since they both are from the same protocol and they both are respectable (well....except their music department) companies that fabricate quality external storage (do I sound like a salesman now?).Prices and quality of the 2 are very close so it wouldn't matter much which one you buy. But if you really want to play safe, get a memory stick duo from sony since they have a PSP compatibility guarantee (usually stated on the package itself). That way, if it doesn't work (which is very improbable) you can get another one.
  17. I'd like to point out that what sony had on their cd is NOT A ROOTKIT. First Although the sony software does hide certain files, it DOES NOT serve the purpose on maintaining access on a system. I'd classify it more as a advanced spyware or something of that sort. Those so called rootkit-cd's cannot be used as a hacking tool or to get entrance to a system. That's not what it does. I do NOT imply that I agree with sony's actions, but bragging about this thing being a Rootkit is just too much since it simply isn't one. It's good that EFF is still pushing sony around abit so they don't go too much out of line. The purpose of the copyprotection is NOT to gaining access to your pc, it just wants to prevent the material from being copied. But the way Sony does it is indeed not acceptable and I hope they will have to pay dearly for it.
  18. I'd like to point out that this service is free for only one year This basically means that the nextyear you'll have to pay âŹ7,5 / month to keep up the domainname.
  19. Buy a nice good solid suitcase and put your laptop in it, then chain it to something solid and not likely moveable. That'd do it for most of the times.
  20. Ehm guys, the physics in the tony hawk games are more equal to those on the moon than on this planet. There is absolutely no realism, you can jump incredibly high and you there seems to be almost nog friction (freakishly long grinds and you glide on the ground). If you have all of the above, then I suppose there's no need to do extra gore graphics for falling and stuff. Also, most kids who play this KNOW it's not 'real' because they see those weird physics. Also, characters in the game fall way to easily, and also, if they fall they use their hands/arms to prevent big damage. And even if you got severe damage, you can't except a gamer just to wait for 3 months to have his virtual broken leg healed.Realism is good for games, but the way it is now is good enough.
  21. I'm interested, could you give a link please . By the way, I think at least about half of the desktop computers here are running on an illegal version of windows (especially people who assemble their own pcs).
  22. guess what.... You can download it from the codemasters website for free (not sure wheter it's a demo or not, probably not.) anyway. http://www.codemasters.com/
  23. Notice from jipman: Not if I am around , seriously, everything that can be discussed about has been discussed already and the use of this topic is nil. Unless another moderator opens this one up again, this one is CLOSED untill further notice
  24. 1. search google for a fix.2. If google doesn't give back anything usefull check the following things:Kill all the exes in the taskmanager.goto START -> run -> msconfig , and click check the services and startup tabs for an entry which calls the webhost.restart your machine, it this works you're done , if not do this:check the registry for anything that links to thoses exes and delete themdo a windows search for the exact filesizes of the exes, they could be hiding under a different name.check the msconfig again and reboot. If this doesn't work, I wouldn't know either.
  25. Why is everyone a Chidori/Rasengan fanboy/girl .Anyway, if you like fighting games you probably can also try the Bleach games, based on the Anime+Manga Bleach.ps. Bleach pwns Naruto anyways.
