  1. Hint, after making your site, run it through the W3 validator, W3 specifies how a site should look like ( well the code of it ). Try to use HTML 4.01 transitional or (even better) strict. You can find it at http://validator.w3.org/ You also might want to take a look at http://www.w3schools.com/ for some tutorials on webbuilding.
  2. Good luck searching for drivers :S (i also hope you've got a reasonable Linux knowledge because you probably have to compile and setup those drivers manually) , i had that problem a while ago with SuSe 7, now i've got ADSL, that's recognised at first boot .Good luck
  3. I don't believe they won't make such difference, hyper threading or not. I've got a P4 3.00Ghz and i've switched HT on and off to see if it differs, but it's not such big difference. <dream mode>Wow, how would it be to have a REAL 10 CPU computer. </dream mode>
  4. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.gratiz.nl/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ first one is one i had to make for school, got me a 9 out of 10 points second one is my current one, trying create a simple design with lots of white and lines third one, old clan site, used to be for the clan i was in (died )
  5. quite nice, i like that space background thingy, just one comment, see screenshot : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ And i think you really shouldn't be using frames, is it just because of the menu?
  6. Talking about graphics, how about the GIMP, it has almost the same stuff like Photoshop, is free and open source :PAnd for site building it's VIM for me
  7. Does anyone use yum or apt-get here?Under linux i first go surfing for a nice program, then i pull up a terminal and type : yum install <programname>usually it finds something usefull. For windows programs i usually look for bit torrents (shame on me ). But first i'll look for an open sourced or freeware alternative to the program i'm trying to find.
  8. I've got a 512 MB mp3 player from a unknown company, it's really weird, the design of my player has been ripped off so many times that when i walk around at school everyone has the same looking thing like me but from another brand :S
  9. Free Download manager, a freeware clone of the famous Internet Download manager http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ But usually the downloader in FireFox does the job
  10. I've now got Fedora Core 3 and M$ Win XP as dualboot.there are only 2 things that keep me away from entering the almighty FORMAT C:- Games still don't work nicely under Linux, and i happen to play a lot of them.- My mum's watching web TV from it, using some windows media player protocol.Off topic, you can't imagine how nice it is to run a virus under a windows simulator (WINE) under linux, see how it fails in loading
  11. Usually i take a site i've previously build, then edit the CSS file of it (what a little css file can't do ). But IF i happen to create one from scratch I just start thinking of an nice color combo and then play around with PS or Gimp to get a basic idea of where everything should be placed.
  12. Well i think it's not that they are lousy about protection, but they are of course much more targetted by hackers/crackers etc, because when you find one of the many holes in IE you can attack more people then if you find an FireFox hole. ALSO, very important, FireFox is open source, and people have no bad thoughts about Mozilla. Microsoft has ' offended' many people with their silly actions. And even if there was a hole found in FireFox, if you report it to them you get money for it. I don't see M$ doing that. And ofcourse, patches for FireFox are way faster online than IE's (if any)
