  1. Somethings wrong yeah.My overclocked AMD Athlon 64 Venice 3200+ which is clocked at 2400mhz now. Has temperatures of 36 idle and 45 stressed.I heard a while ago from someone that AMD's shouldn't get hotter than 55 degrees. With 70, you can be lucky that your cpu didn't die on you yet. Here's what you can do.- Check if the fan of the cpu-cooler is spinning.- Check if the cooler makes contact with the processor itself.- If possible, try using the processor in another computer for a comparison test.- If all doesn't work out, check the bios settings to see if cpu settings are correct :cpu speed = 200mhzcpu multiplier = 10xcpu voltage = auto or 1,4 Voltsif anything is different, change it to the appropriate valueFinally, if even the bios inspections don't pay off. Bring the cpu back because then it's just broken.
  2. I declare this topic dead and closed for two reasons:- Topic was started 23 january and no replies have been seen of the topicstarter.- Topicstarter has last accessed this board on 25 february, so he won't be viewing this anymore.
  3. Using leetspeak is only funny to make fun of n00bies. For example:Me and a friend of mine are pwning a team deathmatch game of Call of Duty, and the rest of game consists of people who can't even aim properly or are just plain bad at the game. Then we both start using chat-binds like "I @m teh Pwn@ge" just to piss other people of and get a few laughs while talking a bit through teamspeak. My point is that leet-speak is better used for chatting with friends to indicate something funny.
  4. I can't see what we have to do with this, you haven't told us what compression algorithm you've applied, huffman probably? Also, the comments are in some language !english, which 99% of the people around here won't get and there isn't enough comment. If you post a new topic with only code, at least proper (re)comment it so at least we can read it normally.
  5. We had a presentation from a couple of microsoft guys a while ago at my university about Windows Vista. Besides the fact that the beta crashes every two minutes or just lags like **** (which is why it's a beta anyways). They added some nice features to vista. For instance, they are going a bit *nix style with the user-accounts style, by trying to keep some sort of a root account to handle stuff. Every normal user gets a special program files directory of his own to work in.The microsoft guys said themselves that they didn't see the practical use for transparant windows and so.ps. They also said that the beta's a free download for everyone to test. Can't really remember where though. Google might provide an answernote: It's a b e t a for crying out loud, so don't expect it to run stable which it won't. Microsoft just released this for the people to say what they're working at and what the new features will be. I'm not really pro-microsoft but it's still not fair to judge the final vista on some early beta like this.final note: They also said something about AJAX (Some XML based programming language) being built in too. It was supposed to be some simple programming language thing. (I'm not really sure about this part of the presentation, I started reading manga at that time).
  6. Wutske and Grafitti said it, I'm going to say it again. If you build a new computer, use SATA, the price for the harddrives is nearly the same, the transferspeeds (SATA has two versions, 1 and 2, which are both faster than the IDE ports you are using now). Most new motherboards have built in SATA controllers for probably 4 drives, so you don't have to get extra controllers (probably).I speak out of experience, because I have a computer now with 4 SATA Maxtor harddrives with 250 GB each and it works like a charm, transfers speeds are about 10-20 mb/sec higher than I had with my other pc's.Another reason, having 4 ribbon cables makes a mess inside your case, obstructing the airflow. SATA data cables are really thin and small cables which are way better for airflow (which you are going to need if you plan on a lot of harddrives).
  7. I believe I had my 666th post a while ago..Am looking forward for the 777
  8. Notes:- few dead links (eg. "Your thoughts")- your menu's to small for the screen, because you use forced-dimensions for your divs (I have 1280x1024 here), this resulted in scrollbars in the menu- site updates and menu should be above each other, best would be, updates on the right and menu on the left.- Maybe try a smaller logo so there's more space for the menu and the content- the caption-images are not really good readable- Try using relative dimensions like %, this makes maximum usage of the readers screen. But probably will give a few problems with positioninig and stuff. The rest is ok though
  9. One possible case of declared n00bism is when someone who clearly doesn't show to have any kind of knowledge of computers is trying to be a so called big-*bottom*-smart-*bottom*. This will result in the wannabe smartass being called a n00b.There are more possible cases, and when you are called a n00b because you didn't read the topic very well ... Be honest, that's just a n00bish act. Everyone makes these kind of mistakes sometimes so in this case it's justified. (Although WaCo seemed a bit too harsh). But if it's just a mistake, laugh it away.ps. It's ok to be arrogant, as long as you have the skillz to back it up eh ? :huh:ps2. (not the console) : It seems to me that if someone who is new at stuff but is seriously trying to learn something, he/she won't seem like a n00b to most people. Because If you want to learn something, you look it up yourself first and if you then don't get it -> ask in a forum. Which is the good way, because if you have questions then, they probably aren't stupid ones.Instead of asking in the forum right away, which shows some kind of lazyness. Like 'How can I make my own game'. Which is n00b.
  10. Too bad mse, I already started to think that humans were starting to evolve or something. Not having the ability to grow new teeth is a kinda of a bug in our genetic makeup I suppose.Anyway, in this way, you can't call it a new sprouting tooth can you?
  11. I realize this is offtopic, but I felt to tell you guys that OPERA has been bought by Microsoft.
  12. Sorry guys, hacking challenges forum and the challenges itself are removed because the server had some difficulty keeping up with all the hacking attempts and because some sponsors didn't like the image it was giving Xisto.if you want to play around with so called hacking challenges, you could go to the following sites:try2hack.nlnet-force.nl
  13. Guys, having a good graphics card here is nice. Being able to run every game with everything in ultra quality is also nice, but do you realize that if you let a game run on some insanely high fps, what will happen?1. Your monitor doesn't even support so much refreshes per second so it will just drop frames. If you are lucky you won't notice it, if not (a difficult scene to render) you will notice fps lag.2. You're wasting your GPU power, since you let it render frames but don't use them. So, for the best gaming performance (smooth graphics) set the resolution of your screen to the 'native' one (eg. for TFT screens it's the optimal resolution stated on the box or something). This doesn't matter for CRT since they work differently. Also, lock your fps on the maximum refresh rate of the monitor and enable vsync. Eg. I have a 75hz refresh rate on my monitor. So I set the maxfps of my games at 75, because my lcd won't support higher anyway. (good tip to squeeze / save the last bits of power of your older graphic cards)ps. Multiplayer only games don't make the game demanding, it's the graphics itself, CS:source is a very nice looker so it demands quite some power.
  14. It's not going to happen.99,9% percent of the people out here prefer the lazy *bottom* easy way instead of the hard but leet way . Anyway, Linux distro's don't have such an extensive budget as microsoft or anyother big software company to spend on marketing their product, also, I don't think it's necessary. If windows does everything a user wants so let it be. Why change something when it works fine.Although the percentage of linux users is probably growing, it will never outrun microsoft. ps. As long as the linux community stays small, the change of virusses and worms being created is just as small. So we should thank all the poor souls that are sacrificing their windows based computers and catching on the virusses .ps........ I use windows.
  15. Should've expected such a reply.Well.... chatting has a reallife equivalence you know? It's called talking or speaking (whichever you prefer). My point is just : Why would anyone like to play a chatting game, for crying out loud, if you want social interaction go out to a pub or something.
  16. To be honest, I think it's the ATI Radeon 9200 that's getting you your freezes, it's quite an old type of graphics card and you can't really expect to have it run CS:Source smoothly can you? You should get that 6600GT as soon as possibleAnyway, you don't actually need a soundcard in a computer, it will run perfectly fine without it. Playing games is also very possible without sound, I play Call of Duty all the time without the gamesound and with music which is really comfortable btw. So playing without sound won't affect your gaming too .
  17. Just read yesterday that there are over 5 million world of warcraft players now. What's with this trend that people play so much of those 'alternate reality chatting and stuff' games. I mean, why would you want to play such a game, you have a life of your own. Don't get me wrong, I play games too, but only FPS games because that's something you can't do in reallife and get away with it :)Could someone explain what is so much fun about spending your time chatting with other characters in a game-world. Is it a substitute social life or something???? :|I mean, pwning them is so much more fun
  18. For some reason SSH requesting posts haven't been replied to for........ well.... a while
  19. I have CoD, so I can just pwn n00bs when I don't feel like doing anything :huh:Intelligence to zeroJust point and click.
  20. Your cpu already isn't quite the pwnage, it's slow. If you want to play games you'd at least have a decent AMD or a Pentium 4 or something. Also, you need a bit of good RAM to get a nice speedy map load (maybe something of Kingston, OCZ or GEIL).Your motherboard probably has a AGP slot, so you maybe need to buy a new motherboard. Also, the chipset of the motherboard you have now probably isn't anything spectacular either. So get a nForce ... chipsetted motherboard. As someone above me already said, the 5200 doesn't play new games too well, get a 6600 or preferably a 6800. If you really have too much money € 320+, you could consider a 7800GT or even 7800GTX.ps. good 3d cards need good cpu+ram+mobo in order to get good performance out of them.

    Dangerous Hacker!

Hahahahaha lool.... I like those stories, there are actually 11 olds you actually think that they are uber leet. It's so funny.
  22. In fps games, there are two types of lags. Serverlag, and FPS lag. Serverlag is what you stated, a connection problem with the server. Fps lag is because your computer can't keep up with the rendering of the game visuals, this happens usually when it gets crowded in your field of view (eg. spray gun fest or something). If you have a 4000 dollar pc it's probably because the settings aren't good, but normally it's just because your graphics card (or any other hardware component ) can't keep up with the game. Both have as result a choppy game experience, but the reasons are totally different
  23. Talking about cool.... In exactly one week and 2 days. I'll be buying a new computer too . I think I already mentioned a while ago, but now's finally the time :DHere's specsAMD 64 3200+ (Overclocking to at least 3500+)Asus A8N-E (Retail, sound, Gb-LAN, RAID)PNY Verto 6800 Ultra 3D cardGeIL DIMM 1 GB (Retail, 600-C25-4410, Dual Channel Kit) (need some good memory that can keep up with the overclocked CPU )Thermaltake Silent Purepower 560W (I'll explain later why I need this much wattage)Lian Li PC-60B Plus case (Soooooo pretty )Above stuff is just nice. But what comes now is what really matters :huh:4x Maxtor 250GB (DiamondMax Plus 10, 7200RPM, 16MB, SATA)Yeaaah ..... In combination with my 14mbit down it sure is going get filled up :PAny comments guys?
  24. Essentially most programming languages are the same as in what they can do. The difference is what you need to type to get it all working.Once you learn a programming language, about anything will do. Learning another one is usually real easy, since you already know what the idea behind programming is.There might be trouble trying to learn OOP from scratch, since you probably start with some programming language that is line-by-line based. But even though, if you're willing to put some effort in it. There isn't a language you can't learn.
  25. Unless you use a hell lot of pictures. There's no need to have 2 versions of a site. Also, for a business site, too much pictures and animation is a no no anyways. You have to be to the point with those things
