  1. there is actually a sp6 version. so maybe if you install that it will work. Another reason might be: You have Visual Basic and Visual C++ on your system for example, and most files are used by both programs, but with different settings. So that could be another reason why it is not working.Try and see if you can use winsock, if you can't then you have got a Enterprise version of Visual Basic and that means your resources are limited to everything but internet stuff... (i have got the same problem )
  2. some more updated news:Aside from being a legal alternative, Microsoft also promises that Avalanche will be much faster than BitTorrent. So it would seem that illegal downloads won’t stand a chance. On the other hand, unlike Avalanche, BitTorrent has already proven its capabilities, not to mention the users’ attraction towards illegal downloads. And what can be easier than to use P2P for illegal downloads? If Microsoft really wants to push Avalanche on the market it should focus more on costs and less on technicalities. And if you have to choose between being targeted by RIAA and paying a small amount of money, it’s obvious you will go with the second option. The main question is not how will the service work, but how much the access and the right to download a certain file will cost? I’m afraid that Avalanche will confirm the famous statement of General Motors’s director who said that if cars had developed in the same way as Windows did, we would have required special roadways. The same goes for Avalanche, who knows what hides behind a P2P concept signed by Microsoft.
  3. are you sure they are hosted in switzerland, i thought they were hosted in China and so because of the cheap rates. The rates here in switzerland are very high. The swiss goverment also has its own section dedicated on tracing down major companies in switzerland that are allowing illegal downloads of movies and stuff...
  4. History: Ever since Napster was launched, the P2P concept has been regarded as being barely legal. Idea But once Microsoft will embrace it, under the name Avalanche(where are they getting the names from?), the P2P concept has all the chances of entering a new era. A fast network able to provide (in a legal environment [bla bla...]) software and movies is a very good idea which will gain many followers. But the new P2P concept will not be BitTorrent’s executioner, it will only represent a legal alternative to it. With Avalanche, Microsoft might gain a strategic position on the market, and it might end up having on its hands a service much more interesting than iTunes or any other similar applications. (finally) It remains to be seen what accessing and using conditions will be imposed and what fees will Avalanche require to allow users to harness its P2P power. In a world which is more and more dependent on the Internet, Microsoft is finally gambling on the right card.
  5. i read a review on softpedia and decided not to download the program. They say that is barely a beta relise more like an afla release, because of spelling mistakes and missing menus.. They also said the the program was very simmular to Paintshop v4 or later. Microsoft have also added a new format something like .xpf or something like that, can't remeber it exactually , When the program has gone through a few more Betas i will download it but until then i am sticking with my Photoshop
  6. People who have Netscape, have a AIM name, because of some reason i can't quite understand. Stupid marketing thing!!!! But Hotmail alows you to have a simple email or have email and messenger together, contacts are added automatically and with iIE you can start conversations with your contacts if you are logged in with msn another good feature msn has to offer is its webmessenger. a http format of its clients, it can not do everything the program can do, but it is great if you are in the office or at school (since most school's block the msn port...) you can find it here: http://www.msn.com/en-ca/ P.S. the new email address and passwort encryption tool is also quite cool

  8. i though the new google thing was called Google fusion or My Google? Anyway, it is still far from the alfa release. Gmail + Weather aren't even working yet .
  9. you should also add descriptons and keywords to your website, This will make the searches more accurate
  10. what do you mean: I havent seen any change after a year. The submitted site should be instantainious. You did add your site here didn't you?:https://www.google.com/ Then there is google's new SiteSitemaps (another BETA) maybe you submitted your site wrong or something. Try seing if the sitemap works :S
  11. not unless you use an anonymous proxy. The only time your real ip is shown, is when you have to upload something (i am never sure about this, i always get mixed up with something else :s [is this true?]) Some other info: When ever you click on a link on a site you will be taken to the site and the site's ip that you have just come from will be logged. Illegal sites use anonymous mirrors such as anonym.to. This makes it impossible for sites to know where you clicked the link from. The will only see your ip/anonym.to ip
  12. my ISP lets me change my ip at will, i have a modem and its ip is 80.X.X.X which is connected to my wifi station ip 207.X.X.X and then i have an ip of 192.68.X.X (network address). this is however a problem when trying to test my firewall because you have an external and an internal ip address internal being the 192.68.X.X and the exter 80.x.x.x most websites see me as 192.168.x.x but if a php script asks my browser fir an ip address, it gives it the middle ip 207.x.x.xIf you want to change your ip, you can buy a router. then you would have a 10.x.x.x . There is however another way. although i am not sure if this works for your isp. You need to find your DNS servers (Domain Name System) write down their ip addresses. Afterwards you need to set your dns servers. Start -> Network Connections (or something like that) -> choose your internet connection right click it and select IP/TCP Protocol. If you dobbule click it a new window should open and you should put your dns servers ips in the two boxes at the bottom (were it says something like, Desired dns servers or something) then you should be ready to go . Press ok, turn of your comptuer and when you connect to the internet you should get a differnet ip address. !!!THIS ONLY WORKS IF THE IP IN YOUR MODEM IS SET!!!
  13. i only use Msn so i stick to msn messenger. The problem with multiclients is that you use some features, like loosing the ability to use winks or nudges. Question: Can you enter a voice conversation with Trillian?
  14. it will take a few years though to put porn on mobile devices because the only way that a mobile connects to the internet is through a GPRS connection (wap i think) and it is very slow! it would take ages to download a film, and even if you were to buy it on a memory stick or something (just imagine a venting machine that sold memory sticks with porn on it). The protection they would most likely have would be: "This film is rated 18... If you are under 18 click here to erase the disk or if you are over 18 click here to begin the movie" hmm.. which one would you click
  15. this was the title of a news article on softpedia. Article: i really hope this isn't true! Porn will take over the world!!! Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
