Nervous About Dating. I M 40 Yrs Old.
Goosestaf replied to rugbyleague's topic in Dating And Relationships
I know what you mean by al lthis and all the advice given so far is good to follow.Often going int osomethign expecting somethign at the end of it is the wrong thign t odo as it puts lots of pressure on yourself. Just date, but jus for friendship. Even if just have this mindset you won't feel so pressured by anything, and should just relax.Doing thigns as a group initially is a good way to build up confidence. If after trying everythign you still feel nervous and such, maybe your jus not ready for doin soemthin so soon.good lucks anyways. -
text adds, such as google adwords are ok, but if placed in the way or amougnst content they can be annoying.Banner adds are ok, aslong as their isn't too many of them.Pop up adds and banner Expander adds r the spawn of the devil. . . . . nuff said.

Cpanel Access-mod Check Please Cpanel not loading
Goosestaf replied to Goosestaf's topic in Web Hosting Support
yeah sorry, i let it slip my midn again, BUTThis in't the problem as i havn't been able to gain acces all last week. -
(1st one . . .2nd one wouldnt load)Not a bad effort for paint and G.I.M.P.Alot of the iamge is a bit fuzzy, but i'm guesssing thats down to image compression etc.overall not a bad start. The layout is prett ystandard, but would do0 the job nicely The previews and reviews sectiosn will be a ncie idea, abova the news. obviously gussing the background wont just be white.Overall it does seema bit flat.Take a look at other gamign websites and see whatstyles they use and gain inspiration from their User Interfaces. Then look aroudn for tutorials for that type of stuff :DOverall keep at it.-- and to all the ppl saying get photoshop, yes its a great program, but don't believe its sudeenly going to mkae your work better. . .a program is only as good as the person using it and their idea GIMp is a really good peice of free graphic software , but if you have the cash vow for photoshop, as it does have a few more features and thigns.

My Site Needs Your Review Come and say something please.
Goosestaf replied to Lyon2's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm confused about a couple things, but will just assume for the review. The flash intro is very koo assuming you've designed it al lyourself, its a very nice technique and aniamtion. The graphics of the site arn't bad, i like the layout and design but soem the graphics could be a bit better. for example the shadow on either side of the layout graphic could be smoother, the buttons would be nice if they had a glowing rollover or soemthing i think. maybe even a slight sound to make it more engaging. The content is all very useful and i will msot likely be lookign throught it all at some point, as i've book marked it. BUT this is the bit i'm not sure on. . . did you create al lthe other websites. . .i.e the flash clocks website, flash intros etc. . . because assuming you did what inspired you to use a differerent layout for each site. . . .. it breaks one of the first rules of webdesign. . . useability achieved through style consistency.Doing it the way you've done it is Very confusing for a user. i didn't know if i was on your site anymore or some other resource page. Why could you have not just simply displayed any information with your initial flash sites layout, to make it a bit more obvious.i'm sorry to say this really lets down the site. You've obviosuly spent alot of time doing it, but its just a bit confusing. i just don't understand why you didnt even put all the other websites together as one, instead of having 5 differernt sites, all with differernt colours and graphics. The content you provide o nthe other websites are ncie though :Pdo you agree with me though? -
What Makes An Rpg Good? graphics...IGMs...playability..or what?
Goosestaf replied to Arin Sky's topic in Computer Gaming
ahhh nice question/discussion :(many have noted features which will make a good RPG, and above somewhere has ntoed alot about Oblivion which is going to be amazing.but at truth, all these features only help an RPG.At heart a great rpg needs to do what it says on the box. . .. which is getting you involved in the role you are playing. Meaning, you jsut dont feel like you have a character who is doing this, collecting this, doing that etc. . .but that you become so emmersed in the game that you feel like the character is you/you are the character. That is what creates a truely amazing role playing game.Features are what creates that connection with the game, but them alone won't neccerly (sp?) create a good role palying experience.A great epic story line is very important, but also as is the freedom to do what you want, when you want, As having linear game play makes you feel like your playing a character, rather than a role.so anyways. . . i've had my rant :(and i believe i made sense :(if you agree/disagree plz say -
300 Gb Discs (like Normal Cd's) Storage
Goosestaf replied to keysmaker's topic in Science and Technology
WOW! Thats an insane amount of storage for one disc.like many have already noted, the concern for havign so much data on something so easily damagable, and the price is an obvious downer. i mean. . . .that much for a writer?. . . jeeez .. . .but if you think about it , why would you want that mutch storage on a disc anyways.yeah sure, you transfer LOADS of files and data etc, back up entire pcs etc, but that can be done with External hard drives for a fraction of the cost, and they will only improve and become larger and cheaper.the HDDVD and Blu-Ray format will be interesting too, when their made fully mainstream.nice find -
of course. when designing the colour scheme of a website you can go multple ways, the most popular are having variations of one colour or multiple contrasting colours. Both have their advantages, but with the mono-tone colour it all seems to blend int oeach other, Where as differernt colours jump out at you and catch your attention. Since reviewing your website more news has been posted and the "general movies" news image jumps out at you. where as the icons i saw before were very monotone and blended with the rest of the site. for example, a website i'm making has a majority of purple, but i've included alot of white to contrast it. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ As far as what you can do. . . mmmm bit tricky really. As its a colour scheme issue its best to think about these thigns when your doing initial concepts, and changing it now could make your site look odd if you started edditting things now. I mean don't get me wrong, its a nice site and its far from a major problem! like i said, its jsut a gripe. It isn't un-useable and doesnt need changing, but a change would improve it in my opinion. But if you think its fine, and no one else has made the point then you dont have to change it

Interesting :(Skype VOIP is great and this thing is an excellent idea :(Always wondered about makign the technology mobile

very nice :lol:i only have a couple gripes!Layout+Graphics: Very clean and simple, the rounded top separates it from other HP sites. Its easy to navigatie and understand. The colours and graphics are quite nice, if not a bit too monotone for my liking, but thats not a bad thing, just nothign really jumps out at me fro mthe site and grabs my attention.Content: lots of it and its all easy to find, very ncie job on that (i don't like HP though so i didnt read through msot of it, so jsut assuming its all grammer friendly)overall 8/10just keep it updated and the hits will keep comming

It could be shared over a network? My university has a large amount of bandwidth, but its shared.but seriosuly, what would be the point for a single home user lol
-
now for my opnion (which agrees with everyone lol)bassicly, its good for beginners who know nothign about HTMl and stuff, and can be editted by any computer with access to the internet.but, the bandwidth is a stupid amount, and for a website with an average amout of graphics it dies after 10 unique page views lol The adds are ennoying, but at least there not popups. . . I first used this to get my graphics on the net to form a "website", but after the bandwidth limtied what i could do i moved onto Xisto.its simple and useful for begginers who don't wnat to create sites with large file sizes.

ok, mambo is now Joomla, essentially the same thing, but the altest updates are now claled Joomla! and are more stable.mambo/joomla does not look like a blog unless u make it look like a blog. You can create multiple pages by creating static content, and then creating links on the main naviagtion links and/or in content posts.you jsut need to fiddle aroudn with it yourself and see what it can do.before i bothered installing joomla i messed around in the admin of their official demo page for bout a week.they do have documentation as well.in short, all the info is there and what your asking is very possible, its the best CMS by far. . . not the hardest, but not the easyest either.just keep messing with it and you'll udnerstand the system it uses.

tested in IE6, FF, and latest Opera. all ok, no major problems, jsut overlay quibbles . . .layout is quite cluttered with border lines being overlapped by text.borderes overlapping each other.Styling is quite poor, as its all white with grey backgrounds and the text is all times new roman Graphics could avstly improve the site, a more noticeable and prominant logo for example, and background abrs for the titles, and possibly an differernt website background, with the site centered. The site being centered would be quite koo too i think.naviagtion is boring but functional so thats ok,quite alot of features planned which is good to know, just work on building up a content database.-Couple questions tho, do you already have a large amount of people wanting to join?a forum might be a good ideaGenerlly quite a horrible design/layout which is sadly going to scare away people who are not your friends ;)BUT, if that was improved i could work, as you have good plans for the site and targeted those plans at your target audience.as it stands. . . i give it a 3/10 but this is due to the lack of visual appeal and the site being cluttered, and it alcking alot of content.keep at it though. . . maybe using a CMS would be adviseable, i would not go for PHP nuke like has been advised, instead go for "Joomla!". . there is an autoinstaller in the fantastico program in your Xisto control panel.good luck

Optimus Oled Keyboard a keyboard revolution
Goosestaf replied to Goosestaf's topic in Science and Technology
like i said i found that thread and the posts, but this easily deserved its own thread, as you would only stumble across the above thread if you were reading it or searching for the keyboard. i'm sure they will sell replacement OLEDs when goes into production? -
well that explains it then lol and also do you code in notepad or use a program like Micro$oft Frontpage?
-
ok, i'm going to give my honest opinion as always before i review it, remeber this is my own personal opinion . . . ok First Impressions: i opened your site and could hear some horrible thign in the background of my music. paused it, to find your site playing it . . . . its horrible (the music), that type of thing is a pet hate, but tis even worse if you don't have the ability to turn it off. . . . the style of the page was somewhat old too. you don't see many sites with this style anymore. . . . Graphics Not my cup of tea really. i agree what has been said about the site having a "homely" feel to it, but i would associate that home with a grandparents house. The graphic textures are also not my type of thing, as are the borders. The graphics are at a good resolution and the signature is a nice image. Tiled backgrounds of the style on your page also make it look old-fashioned, as do the frame graphics. Layout/formatting . . .sorry again . . .the layout is quite ancient too the block top to bottom site format is not very user friendly as you lack a common navagation at the top or side, and thats very important for useability. The Home button at the bottom of alot of pages takes you to a completely differernt site, which confused the hell outta me. Content Alot of content, which is always good for a website! even if i don't quite like the content your giving out. Improvements Now, while i ahve criticised the graphics alot, i will not advise anything on them ,as i'm sure their jsut your personal preference. BUT the layout and design could be thought about better to make the site more useable. for example common navagation at the top of the page, or the left would be a great idea. That would be my main way to improve your site, with out changign your style, which would be wrong. theres my opinion/review. you say your an amteur and i believe you, but for an amteur you've done a hell of alot of work, and its all done very well with no problems in my browsers. i mean, you've got a ton of rewards from some sources so obviosuly some people do liek your website (altho rewards don't always mean much). You look like you've got skill, so why not try and advance your ability and learn more about what makes a website good or bad. . . . . sure you could make some more modern looking graphics too good luck with it all in the future, defintly keep it up!

well firstly thanks for your in-valluable help serverph. I looked through everything and managed to get it working! Hooray! and i first tested it out last night, with the heartlesscreations.com domain, and it worked perfectly. . . . but today its been bringing up the page not found error.. . .. . now. . . . i doubt i have done anythign wrong, as it worked last night, and i have not changed anythign in the directory where it leads. . .. soooo whats going on :S as once again, i am clueless to what is up. I'm guessing an admin could look through the settings and check for any changes or anything, and see if something odd has happened. i also have no reason to believe that my domain registar is to blame, and am using Add-on Domains. help please (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ should go here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/)
