Help Me Flash My Website. web designing
galexcd replied to SaNJ's topic in Websites and Web Designing
For somebody who is new to flash you might not be able to make something that good just yet, however if you borrow some art and animation from flashkit you might be able to spice up your work. The best way to include flash while still following web standards is the flash satay method. If you don't care about making your page valid html you can just search on google "include flash html" and you should get plenty of results telling you how to do this. Well, if you don't already have it, you'll need adobe flash ($699). Adobe offers it for $249 if you're a student. flashkit. You could also try a google search for "flash preloaders". And once again I'd recommend flashkit. I'm sure there are plenty of other websites out there but I've used flashkit for years and it hasn't let me down yet. -
i haven't mettled with the list component for some time but if I recall correctly list.data returns an array. Have you tried list.data[0]?

Hi, I'm Alex and I've been posting on Xisto for the past 3 years. I made myself an Xisto account a while back but never really got around to using it, usually I automatically went to Xisto without thinking, but now since both my Xisto account and my Xisto account both add myCent's to my xisto account I think I should be a bit more active here. So, lets see, a little bit about myself. I live in california, I'm on my computer all the time, I do a lot of programming, I'm in the second year of my university, computer science major, and I also work at the apple store. I triple boot my macbook pro with Leopard, XP, and Ubuntu, but I primarily use ubuntu.I'm pretty good at PHP and making shazzy ajax powered javascript stuff... I also know C, C++, Java, and some type of assembly language, which I learned from my major, but I'm not really fond of any of them. And as a side note I think the introduction board should have a post count here.... It does at Xisto...

I hate to rush this but the credit system is crumbling as we speak so I must be fast for my 20 credits to be at least semi-worth while. In second place is Jlhaslip (sorry but no prize for second place) for some pretty good creativity and for playing a role I didn't even come up with. In first place: Bluebear. She certainly made me laugh and it was extremely creative. And if the credits don't really matter to you bluebear, I suppose you have my respect for making a truly hilarious post. Anyway that was it i suppose, Xisto's very last credit giveaway! And come to think of it, this is most likely going to be MY last giveaway for anything, including myCents. Even if OpaQue adds the ability to send myCents to one another, I doubt I will be giving any of those away. They seem to be worth a lot more than credits, but we will see... Congratulations to bluebear and all other Xisto members who have won my various credit giveaways in the past...

When I'm not either at work or at school you will usually find me either posting on Xisto, or sleeping. My schedule is full enough so thankfully I don't have very many gaps where I don't have to do anything. There is plenty to do on the internet. There are forums to post on, news to read about, blogs to write, media to view, and people to talk to. The internet is my life away from my life. Is that what you were asking? Your post isn't very clear.

You can use the removeAll() method to remove all items in a list. Here is more information on the method.

Free Domain Name (260 Credits) What will we do about this?
galexcd replied to -Sky-'s topic in Web Hosting Support
You can purchase a domain name with myCent, so technically if you make enough posts on the forum you can get a free domain name, you just needs to order one through Xisto - Web Hosting. -
Well with the credit system going away I figured I'd do one last credit giveaway to get rid of whatever credits I have left. It looks like I will unfortunately only have about 20 to give away this time, and they won't be of much use anyway, so I won't make you guys go through too much trouble to get them. So without further ado here we go! The challenge this time is about role playing and some humor! Below are 5 typical Xisto roles. The member who can best portray a role of their choice below (and most importantly make me laugh) is the winner! Remember generic posts of the role won't win, you need to get creative and bring out your humor. Think of this as a roast for all the members of Xisto. Now nothing offensive, or spam, the mods wouldn't like that... 1. The new member I write short one liner posts and usually add smilies 2. The younger member I liek t0taly think writeing wit bad spelling makes me c00L!!!! I liek calling other people n00bs. ARent I teh best and most awesumest member ever? I also totaly h8 peeple whoo think treachers are kewl. Visit my myspace page! 3. The SPAMMER (I'm not responsible if you get in trouble trying to do this one) Cool! 4. The grammatically confused member Many times I am thinking Xisto and can I? I am talking of time of, yes! Who can now join me? Can this I be is most. Thank you. 5. The Moderator Notice from Moderator: I enforce the rules with the edit button and a note bbcode Or if you can come up with a more creative post go for it. This is my last giveaway so pretty much anything goes.

Review My Website www.nehsnews.co.nr
galexcd replied to hasaki's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It has nothing to do with him breaking any rules. His hosting credits are at -127.67. You need to stay active if you want your website to stay up. -
Yes, and lets not forget that they've also announced Diablo III and the new WoW expansion: Wrath of the Lich King. These are two major projects that may consume some of their resources, and slow down the production for Starcraft 2.

So regarding the myCent, and using it with both Xisto and Xisto and a computerhost account (trifecta) So like I already posted on Xisto, I've got my Xisto and Xisto - Web Hosting account working flawlessly together, but after getting that to work I remembered about my Xisto account that I occasionally visit, and I thought I'd might as well sync it up with my other two accounts as well... Well I changed my Xisto email to match my Xisto and my Xisto - Web Hosting but nothing seems to happen. Do I have to wait for the next myCent update in 4 or 5 hours for my myCent to appear under my name or do I need to do something else?

Using javascript to validate user input is nice because it doesn't require the user to have to reload the page, the browser does all the work, however the problem with solely using javascript is that it could easily be modified to allow users to bypass whatever validation javascript is running. You could use ajax to have javascript validate the data with the server but that is even more pointless. What I would personally recommend if you wanted to make your website both user-friendly and secure, have both javascript and php check validation of the input. Javascript will easily alert users if the input they entered does not match what the website expects, and users who either disable javascript or attempt to get around this will have a php error message returning the same error javascript returned. As for using regular expressions, we can't exactly give you any code unless you tell us what exactly you want to allow or deny in the string.

If you already have an swf you want to embed into a website you might want to take a look at this method called the Flash Satay. It is the easiest way of embedding flash while still following web standards. If you don't have the swf you want to embed you need to get an application that creates them. I'm sure there are a few non-supported by adobe that you might be able to get a bit cheaper, but I would recommend Adobe Flash.

Apple Makes Everything Safari Pros and Cons of Safari Web Browser
galexcd replied to CyrusX's topic in The Internet
Usually when people try to improve on web browsers by making them faster, it means they make them more efficient. In other words, they are able to render html and compile and run javascript faster. Well how about "stability", and "web standards"? Obviously you aren't a website designer. -
So uh... who wants to buy me the Pagani Zonda? Hey wait can i use myCent to pay for it? OpaQue I need to borrow a few million dollars from xisto, is that alright?

It is possible to put the updates on your harddrive in the same form that they are on the server and then install them via software update, however to make software update look at your harddrive rather than the internet you'll need to modify some files in your library, not something I would normally recommend. Instead why don't you download all the updates as packages (available from apple.com/support/downloads/), then keep all of the packages on your harddrive, and when you resinstall your OS, you can install directly from these packages rather than re-downloading them every time.

Quick Question Regarding Mycent And Computing Host
galexcd replied to galexcd's topic in Web Hosting Support
Ah, this service is amazing, and as intelligent as I had hoped. Once again you have helped Xisto take one giant leap into the future of internet web hosting.*edit* Actually after thinking about it, doesn't paypal automatically send a certain amount money if you have a subscription, or does the service request a certain amount every year? If paypal just mindlessly sends money how can you control it to only send what is required? Should I cancel my paypal subscription with Xisto - Web Hosting and give xisto a credit card number? -
Yes this is completely possible as long as you format your "Files" partition to a file system that OS X can read and write to, I'd recommend Mac os X Extended (Journaled). You can read more about what advantages Journaled has here. Although I don't recommend messing with the internals of your system very much you can move your home folder over to your "Files" partition that way all of your music in iTunes, photos in iPhoto, desktop items, movies and documents are all stored on the partition rather than on your system partition. To do this, first partition your drive and set up your account as normal, then copy your home folder from your users folder over to your other partition. Next, go to System Preferences > Accounts, and right click on the user that you just dragged over and select "Advanced Options...". Be careful when messing around in here because you could do irreparable damage to your account. Next to Home Directory: select "Choose..." and navigate to the copy of your users folder you have created on your partition. After you do this, you can delete the users folder on your startup disk and keep only the system there. If you don't want your entire users folder to go over onto the other partition, but you still would like iTunes and iPhoto to store their data on the "files" parition rather than the folder in your home folder, hold down option while starting them up, and you will have the option of creating a new library on your other partition.

Hi, I've been using Xisto - Web Hosting to host a website for about 3 years now and it is set to automatically deduct my paypal once a year. Since both my forum email and my Xisto - Web Hosting email are the same they seem to have linked perfectly, I just have a quick question regarding the billing of this website I've got with Xisto - Web Hosting now. When it comes time for Xisto - Web Hosting to automatically renew my website will it deduct everything that I have in my myCent and charge the rest to my paypal? How exactly will this work?Thank you.

W3schools.com Is Down Ask your CSS/HTML/PHP questions here...
galexcd replied to jlhaslip's topic in Programming
I'm getting the same error as you were getting haslip when going to their support forum, however their forum isn't hosted on the same servers that their website is hosted, it looks like they use IPB to host their forums, unless of course they use IPB's hosting plans for the rest of their website but I doubt it. Here are IPB's hosting plans, I wonder which one they are using. -
Email Address Revealed in the Free Web Hosting Application
galexcd replied to EinReaper's topic in Web Hosting Support
This is what I ended up doing, however the moderator did not initially want to completely remove my email, they just made it impossible for spam bots to read it, however anyone with half a brain could go to the post and still be able to contact me which isn't exactly ideal but I suppose it works. I'd have to agree that it would be great that instead of closing the topics after being created, they would be hidden from at least non-members. -
Need To Print My Webpages website pages created in HTML
galexcd replied to aswath_t's topic in Web Hosting Support
Why don't you make single html webpage and put the content for all five pages on that webpage? You could space them out to actually print out on five separate pieces of paper. As a user I'd rather press print on the confirmation once than have to hit the print button 5 times to print it out.
