Yes, its a must for LCD screens, especially the older ones in laptops... like mine.

You can do an FTP install, thats most of the time the best option as you don't need to download whatever you don't want to install. Saves a lot of bandwidth.

dude, if its fan died you better have it replaced quick... very quick! only the fan I mean, get a new one and replace it yourself. You are lucky it didn't bite the dust already.

hah, I'm gonna pay Purdue a visit in the next weeks maybe!you have to burn the .iso to a cdrom, that cdrom will then be bootable. So pop it in and restart your computer, you may need to change some settings in the BIOS to actually boot from the cdrom but it should boot and up in the OS.

ok, now that wireless lock aint bad... it'll do...butit needs to be able to do a "beep beep" sound whenever it is pressedd :Dthen it would be complete!

Online Begging This guy really wants a Mac
alperuzi replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
hmm, if you were really begging... would you publish the actual amount of money you have received? I'm pretty sure he had hundreds of dollars by now... if not from windows haters only, but then again he needs to advertise more -
oh my, sorry I'm putting this in here but I just got the coolest idea!do you see the photo for number 12 of the detailed features? The side panel lock... It looks exactly like a car key with remote controlled door locks. Now that is exactly what I want, a remote controlled power button. The case looks pretty good btw, I don't even want to hear its price... I always go for no-name brands and then hack them myself.

well, any proper distribution is about 1-2 cds big, most of the time even bigger with all the added packages etc...There are distros that fit into a floppy disk, but I don't think that is what you are looking for. They are designed to be used in old computers to utilize them as maybe network routers, or simple terminals etc...My current favorite is Gentoo. Much newer than some of the other ones like Red Hat (used to set all the standards). These guys have an easier step by step process to actually compile the whole system from the source.Suse also used to be pretty good, very easy to setup and very user friendly.Mind you, these distros will be bigger than Knoppix. Knoppix is only a single CD if I don't remember incorrectly.
-
If you wanna check it out first before actually getting rid of Windows, download the image of Knoppix and burn it on a CD. That distro runs entirely off a CD and you won't need to format your harddisk or anything.

nothing interesting?why you can run vi, no?:DAnyways, there is nothing such as "original" linux, there are many distributions of linux out there. Most of them are pretty standard. Like they use the same file system, same types of packages etc...If you haven't used it before it is a good idea to get help from someone who did. It is not as easy as windows because you are not used to it. The link round gave is the best source of linux cd images so go there and help yourself. If you need anything, feel free to ask.

well, burning a cpu is not easy guys... those things have thermal diodes and protection to shut it off before damage occurs. Unless your heatsink falls of (LOL) during a game or something it won't happen easily. And no, you can never get twice the performance from your computer with overclocking. Most attemps result in about 10-20% performance gain in CPU intensive apps, the impressive ones are about 30-40% gains, but they are not very common.
-
just keep them, there is a huge inflation of gmail invites due to the recent invite releases by google. There are thousands floating by for free everywhere.
-
I'm guessing that the invite system will stay even after it goes out of beta, it should. That would seriously cut down on the number of users in the system and maintain performance. That being said, I also got 50 on my two accounts. Basically there is no way they will be traded anymore. Heck, all the names I've tried were already taken!Good thing I got my surname some while ago!

hmm, if a PDA counts as a computer: YES!I overclocked it from 144Mhz to 185Mhz to be able to watch full screen divx movies, best of all, no additional cooling neccesary!

Anthlon Vs. Pentium Which is better U decide
alperuzi replied to AnimeExile's topic in Hardware Workshop
No, you are wrong there. I'm not looking for anything, you are looking for a few more posts to increase your post count or credit, but fear not, a mod will soon delete this post.Have you actually read through any of those posts I linked to? In all cases you are giving me only the first few lines or posts. They are about the topic you posted no matter how they are worded. There are more which I didn't bother linking. And if pizza is the last thing you think of when someone asks if Pizza Hut or Dominos is better, then I have nothing more to say. -

1. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/2757-what-is-the-best-processor-for-gaming-is-it-intel-or-amd/ 2. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/2526-which-processor-processors/ 3. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/4192-amd-or-intel-best-system-for-games/ 4. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/3703-what-processor-you-have-pc-processors-only-please/ 5. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/16-best-processor-company/ Since you knew how to search, why didn't you do it beforehand? How do you think others feel answering and posting the same things over and over again? So you think asking for Pentium vs Athlon is any different than asking AMD vs Intel?? So if I ask you if Pizza Hut is better than Dominos you aren't going to compare the pizza they make? Come on... Now please do not carry on this pointless discussion. -
when I scan one regular photograph in lets say 1200 dpi (which is pretty good quality) I get a file which is around 1GB-1.5GB, I have 512ram on the laptop, so the 512mb-1gb portion sits on the hdd slowing things to a crawl and taking about 5min to load. with 2gb, none of this would happen!

SEARCH before you post, there are at least forty two threads about the same topic, and half of them with the same poll, I would consider 41 of these topics SPAM. -
1Gb is entry level these days, why are you so confused, if I ever get a new computer it would have 2gigs...

Retro: The Best Console The ancients always return mwahahaaaa
alperuzi replied to Zentron's topic in Computer Gaming
Original Nintendo without a doubt, by far the most influential console ever. -
why is it stupid?if you wanna code in 1s and 0s, go right ahead...
-
I think they really need to sit down, and redesign some of the parts of the CPU like AMD did with the original athlon. As a result their FPU unit is much better than the intel at the moment. Intel hasn't done ANYTHING groundbreaking since the introduction of the original Pentium and maybe moving the cache into the cpu with P3.
-
Like I said somewhere above, Centrino in a laptop is a hardware technology:Intel Mobile CPU + Intel Motherboard + Intel WiFi = Centrino
-
mobile athlon64s are really good too actually, just that they aren't advertised that much. I've seen one downclock all the way to 133Mhz!
