  1. Started a war, simple as that. Well ok not that simple:Encouraged arms salesEncouraged violenceUsed the media to his advantage to spread propaganda.Uselessly scared and confused a lot of Americans.Deteriorated society, another reason to get arms.Started a war... oh what a surprise, more uses for those bombs and guns... lets manufacture and sell more of them!
  2. Monitor: one capacitor blew up, made a nice hole through the circuit boardWebcam: No idea, just stopped workingLaptop HDD: Must have overheated in the hot Turkish summer!Lately my laptop battery is also dying... must have also been the heat...Desktop HDD: Was the last generation of Quantum Firball hdds, 4 platters and 8 heads I think, so one of the heads started crashing... disk was uselessApart from that, and faulty components I get from time to time there is nothing else. None of the above were my faults as well now that I look at it, just faulty components or something failing...
  3. actually both Intel and AMD were founded around 1969 here is amd's history: http://www.amd.com/en-us and this is Intel's: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  4. it is comming, but there has been a major shift in powers. As you know the PC is said to be Intel architecture, ie x86. Intel's 64bit is basically a copy of AMD64 extensions. So there you have the cpu giant basically replicating AMD technology and claiming it is its own. :)Just that there still is no sign as to when Windows XP 64 edition will come out. Otherwise 64 extensions are pretty much useless unless you use them in custom compiled Linux programs. I'm guessing Intel is holding back WinXP 64 bit so that AMD doesn't get a further advantage in the market... bastards...
  5. that competiton is more like the competition for european politics, they actually play songs there? :DI said lack of reputation because all we got to hear about it was the war. And now, nothing, silence.btw, wasn't it Ukraine with first place? or was there another one since then?
  6. The Primary Master hdd is the one your computer boots from by default. An hdd can be added on the other 3 channels with whatever files or OS on it and won't cause a problem. Windows and Linux will automatically detect it and have it ready to use, in Linux you may need to mount it or do a little bit of setting up first. If you have an OS on the disk it will not boot up, not unless you install a custom bootloader. If you plug it in as the Primary Master, then it will boot and go through a long process of detecting all the hardware etc, and probably not end up working correctly.why on earth are these messages center alligned...
  7. Linux Is Not UniX thats where the name comes from. Unix is older, much older than Linux so you can't really say Linux is more stable. FreeBSD is probably one of the most stable systems out there and a favorite of corporate servers. But I could never get used to the small differences between the two and always ended up using Linux. edit: ah you mention gentoo pbrugge, now that is an impressive distro!
  8. haha, good point, we aren't even allowed graphing calculators into exams...If I could load my new palm with Maple or Matlab, that would be 100x better than the TI-89 though.I still use the good old TI-83, but the TI-89 has an onboard USB port? whoa...edit: typo
  9. Pentium IV Mobile (not Centrino) 2.4GHz in laptopMy laptop is more like a desktop anyways
  10. Well, currently I really like bethesda cuz they are making a sequel (or a prequel?) to my favorite game ever = Fallout.Liked Morrowing but didn't play Tribunal or Bloodmoon. I just couldn't get myself to start morrowind from the beginning again and make a decent level character.
  11. Well, I'm afraid Serbia does have a lack of reputation and a negative image in the world due to the recent agressions. But I did have many Serbian friends in the past, most of which I went along pretty decently.
  12. I believe this has been discussed in this board before. AMD is much better in two fields:Performance/Speed and Price/Performance. Do not forget that the 3000+ cpus are actually running at something like 2000 - 2200 MHz, and still can keep up with P4 at 3Ghz+.This shows how efficient AMD cpus are. Intel are currently scrapping plans of 5Ghz processors to make their current cpus more efficient. However it is an extremely difficult process as the athlon was designed from scratch while the p4s were an improvement on the long lasting pentium series. You see, Intel didn't do a "real" cpu revolution since the change from 486 to pentiums. Since then, it was all adding speed, making them smaller, adding extra instructions, playing with cache etc...
  13. The real muscle in firewall is software such as:Kerio Personal FirewallOutpost FirewallTiny Personal FirewallKerio once ruled supreme, but now most companies caught up if not produced better software.I use Tiny, it is not very new but very good. The old versions of Kerio were also good, the new versions I didn't like that much.I would recommend against Zone Alarm, it is not as good for more in depth protection and sometimes messes up some applications.
  14. I can pretty much tell you now that why they aren't as popular is because they don't have money. I'm afraid elections in the US (like a bunch of other things) is a waste of money. The more money you have, the more votes you'll get. I even hear that the parties pay people to vote for them! Hope those are just rumors... It is the same in many other places though since many other nations take the US as an example. Ballots in Turkey for example are nearly one and a half meters in length (5 feet for you guys ) but there are only 5-6 known parties... More interestingly however some parties form and take control while others fade out of existence all the time. The party in power today is only 3 years old I think! I don't see that happening in many other places, like I don't see the Republicans suddenly getting only 10% of the votes.
  15. Terrorism should not have been used as an elections propaganda. Americans STILL don't get the idea that all this confusion and babble about terrorism is doing nothing but:1) Deteriorating US economy2) Dividing the people up, most notable ethnic3) Losing money and reputation in affairs such as Iraq.4) Making the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It is an all lose situation and looks like it is going to carry on for another four years. I'm not from the US or in the US. Americans should be more concerned than I am right now, but I'm afraid I don't see many who are. It may be too late when the US realize that trading and using arms will lead them nowhere in the future...
  16. well, my laptop came with winXP, but it was German, so I don't use it :Dalthough you can't say it is illegal since I have "a" license
  17. I prefer Media Player Classic, used to use Bs, but the interface of MPC is much cleaner and works great. I would have recommended the k-lite codec pack which is basically all the media players and codec you'll ever need, but they went commercial I think so I'm lucky to have downloaded it before
  18. I live in Canada, but I'm not Canadian so can't vote... but if I did, I would prolly go for the liberals, or the greens...anyway, my favorite party is a keg party... waay more Canadian if you ask me!
  19. yeah, ur rite actually...but in that case, I find it odd that he finds it odd!Religious discussions are pretty rare on the net, even in forums that have politics sections. Almost on all other times, they are philosophy rather than religion.
  20. You don't and you can't.You gotta wait for the opportunity to come and not miss it. But if you miss it, you must not look back, but forward to another opportunity. And it shouldn't be about what you do better, but what you are happy doing.
  21. Hello Christian!I am Muslim, nice to meet you! <_<Most people here will be Christian of course, why is that odd though?
  22. first of all.... a Mac is an Apple which is a Mac as in it is an Apple Macintosh or generally nowadays iMac which stands for something like internet Mac... or something so I don't see very many people having apple computers unless they still have the pre-machintosh granddaddies... Awrite whateva, looking at ur poll suggests that people can either have an apple of an hp??? strange.... I thought there were other companies like IBM and Dell which sell just as much if not more than hp. For example I have a custom built comp, what do I choose now? "I don't know" ? Intel maybe, or mostly Asus, or maybe Creative... Enough fooling, my actual comp is a Gericom Blockbuster Laptop, p4 2.4Ghz, ATI mobility 9600, lotsa ram, dvd-rw and a bunch of other fancyness... as a matter of fact, here lemme show you, none of you can beat the sticker! (btw, didn't encounter a rule about linking images, if it is too big or not allowed I'll remove it)
  23. well yeah, it is for my upcoming homepage and I also hacked my forum scripts to use that service instead of the default icq and msn icons. It doesn't have anything to do with the forum onliners though, it basically displays two different icons for when you are online and offline in YIM, AIM, ICQ and MSN. It is supposed to be able to message you when you click the icons, but that doesn't seem to work.
  24. Best? Whaddaya mean by best? For example if you don't have mysql and don't need a big board, then YaBB Gold is the best for you, you can run it anywhere.phpBB is free and very common, easy to setup. One of the best for general purpose I would say.vBulletin and IPB are "pro" boards, aimed for very large and active communities. Never ran one myself, but I'm sure they have the most features and least bugs. If your board gets a million hits per day, you may wanna upgrade to these...I always seem to promote SMF Simlemachines Forum. It is currently on release candidates, and is still free, and I really like it. But it hasn't been around for very long and still has its bugs and lacks themes etc...
  25. http://www.onlinestatus.org/ retrieves information about your online status and updates your IM icons in forum scripts or html pages. Some forum scripts already have this functionality built-in. I'm wondering if it can be setup to run on the Xisto servers too. I don't wanna be depending on some other hosts uptime. Anyway, it is completely optional, just a suggesting!
