I worked retail for many a year, and the customer does set the standard. I remember supaud cd's were supposed to be the shiz, but they were not cost effective. Mini disk was a great concept, but not compatable to most pre-existing units, and people didn't want to build entire new home audio systems around it, or buy a seperate player for their cars. Bigger and better is not always the answer. I thin Blue Ray can find a niche w/ certain users, but trying to force it on everyone is a really bad idea. Charging more for the discs, and having to buy all new players and burners is just not what people want to have to do. Look how long it's taken regular dvd's to phase out vhs! And now they want to start over again? I think Sony likes to bite off more then they can chew, just so they can try to be innovative, too bad they haven't learned to take baby steps yet....

Xbox 360 On News You see the news this morning?
floresid replied to Marine187's topic in Computer Gaming
Hey now, why the dis on Xbox? I own two of the old one. Had to get the kids their own. But I'm not rushing out to get this new one. I'll wait till it drops in price. I can't say I was a fan of the Ps2, though. It didn't do much for me that the o.g. playstation didn't already do. As for the ps3, it's gonna cost like $500-1000 the last I heard. That's wicked crazy expensive. The PSP is expensive enough, and it's a friggin hand held. Besides, I heard MS is pushing Halo 3 to be released @ the same time Sony drops the ps3, to combat their sales! That would be awesome, and would probably define both system's standing's, to see who is #1. Besides if Sony ever gets the kinks out and pop's out their platform, 1/2 of it will already be outdated, overpriced, and the 360 will be cheaper. Only time will tell. -
Can't you also make them register before reading the forums w/ the info they are looking for? If they can read the kind of info they are looking for w/o registering, then why bother? If you give them a reason to register(give them generic knowledge and an idea of what's inside the users forum) in an open area, they'll feel a need to register to get the rest of the information they are looking for.

I've read before how most serial killers and the sort started out by mutilating/harming animals when they wer younger. I think your neighbors may fall into that category. I mean most of us took a beebee gun out and shot @ birds and stupid stuff like that. But electric shock! that takes some thought and effort.Honestly though, it sounds like you're getting a little frustrated w/ people. It may just seem like it's other teens, who are being immature, and annoying, but try not to let it get to you. Try to make friends w/ older people who are mature. Don't let yourself cut you off from the world. I was always really mature for my age, and consequently had a lot of friends in their 20's when I was a teen. Now a lot of my friends are still 5-10 yrs my senior. Take it easy man, and take a chill pill!

Getting Enough Sleep At Night heres my advice
floresid replied to Professor Kirby's topic in Health & Fitness
Hmm, I got straight A's on about 6 hrs of sleep a night. It was the only way I could handle a 40 hr a week job and 2 girlfriends in highschool. Maybe that's why I still get bad insomnia, Doh! -
I don't think anyone has the cool looking prom you see in Hollywood movies and tv shows. I know I didn't. We did have dress codes though. Guys had to wear a dress shirt and jackets, girls had to wear dress'. We had to take lick stick tests, for alcohol consumption. And if you left further then the bathroo, you couldn't come back in. It wasn't in a night club or anything, but in the bankquet room of a local hotel. Oh, and did I mentiont he guys got patted down for alcohol too!Buffalohelp, I about had the same reply, and saw the Romania adress!LOL As far us producing super smart kids, I think a lot of them are getting way smarter. My kids just started 2nd grade, and I can remember doing some of their homework in the 3rd/4th grade. I had to start taking advanced courses to keep up w/ the stuff they'll be learning in regular class by the end of the year. But I also see them doing things w/ their friends that I don't remember doing till I was in 4th grade either. I took them out the other day and they were daring their friend to go say "hi" to group of girls, @ 7 years old ! My jaw almost hit the ground. So I think the further we push our kids to develope their minds earlier, the sooner they start doing some of the "dumber" things kids do, and by puberty, it's just a really ugly thing. If that's the case, I'll be screwed in the next 8-9 years!

This could have some good threads, and benfits. But it would have to be highly moderated, seeings how it could easily turn into a bashing forum. People tend to get very "emotional" about these kinds of topics and it's hard to keep them on subject. I would like to see some topics on this though.

What's News In Your Neighborhood? Current events
floresid replied to floresid's topic in General Discussion
It was only acceptable cos it was diluted once it hit the river.Anybody else got news about their 'hoods? -
Front page of MSNBC had this article. It looks like people who felt the inequality of their living conditions have decided to use this incident as a reason to lash out. I mean come on, if these boys were hiding from the cop, there is no actual evidence of this right now, then they probably did something wrong. The fact that they died, from electricution, while hiding in a transformer yard, proves they weren't the quickest bunch. This has the fore runnings of another Rodney King affair, like L.A. in the 90's. So don't be surprised if looting follows and other inexecusible actions.

Area 51 In Google Earth do you know the coordonates
floresid replied to adriantc's topic in The Internet
Some spots are off limits, or "top secret". I can find my house on google earth, and it was only built a year and half ago. I work @ a nuke plant, and about 5 miles down the road the maps get very blurry and blocked out. The entire Hanford "industrial" site is that way. A lot of none of your business stuff out here that the most people don't have access to and can't get to w/o government clearance. That doesn't mean that there is aliens out here, just that the government has proejcts that we don't need to anounce to the rest of the world. -
I've never started a thread here before, so I hope I'm putting this in the right place.I was watching the news earlier this morning and saw a week's recap of what's happening in my community. The top story of my interest was that there is a large nuclear waste leak into one of our rivers. Normally this is not news to us, seeing's how we have one of the nation's largest waste cleanup area's in our back yard, and I work @ a nuke plant. The nuke plant is actually rather clean, it's the older defunct plants that produced plutonium and the sorts for wmd's that cause the problem. It would seem that the underground leakage is 3x's the allowable by the federal government. Which means that they allow this to happen, to an extent and still be acceptable. The good news is that due to the size of the river and the flow, that water intake for a large city 9 miles down stream is diluted enough for it be "safe." I'm glad I live another 4 miles down stream from there, I guess my water is even cleaner, since those poor sap's get first dibs on the "glowing water."

A Micron, from 2000. 600 mhz, 128mb ram, 20 Gig hard drive. I still use it regularly. I put XP in it, another 248mb ram, and a wireless card. Works like a champ and gets er done.

Which people were happier? The thousand of Kurds(?) that are being unburied every week in mass graves that he had killed a decade or so ago? Or the small ruling class, I think the numbers are 15%, that actually lived fat and ran his government, while putting every body else in a 3rd world status? I understand that their religious belief's keep them from wanting to make more modern changes to their homes and communities in some areas, but come on, in a nation where just about everybody is eligable for assistance due to the oil income, how the heck can so many live so poorly, and be "happier"?

Korea, unlike Iraq, is proven to have nuclear warheads and is still making them on a regular basis. While most countries are trying to destroy excess weapons and take care of the echo system, N.K. is sitll arming up and showing their "power". Not to mention that unlike China, their communist leader is one to talk trash and threated others. Then hide behind his arsenol of wmd's. I mean come on. It was easy for us to go in and kick Sadaam's rear, we did it a decade ago. But you don't see Bush taking us into N.K., where we actually came out on the wrong side the first time around.

Military Laser Brings 'star Wars' Reality Closer
floresid replied to DYABLO's topic in Science and Technology
These unit could also work directly w/ a satellite link that would inable gps tracking and coordinating shots fired. Plus the scud missiles used in Iraq in the past had programs built into them to calculate trajectory and speed. They weren't 100% effective initially but I think they've improved the software since they were initally introduced in the initial Golf War. -
I'm w/ believer, they'll battle and prices should drop. I like the Ipod, but it's way too pricy. Plus you have to buy like a billion accessories for it.Samsung on the other hand has always taken other's technologies and built on them, for a lower price. I worked in the electronic sales industry for years, and I loved Samsung products. They were way cheaper then most "name brand" products and the quality was always excellent. When brand like Toshiba, Sony, and the like were being returned by the dozens for non functionning issues, Samsung was rarely returned, and most people raved about the quality as well. I think they wont make a huge impact, but they'll offer a product people will like and can afford.

First of all, I love that you titled this thread " kill the internet" w/ a name like FearMonger, I read into it just to make sure it wasn't a joke.Secondly, I think Firefox would have to earn a few hundred million client(probably closer to billion) to make a big enough change to how sites gain money through banners.

Well, I'm from America, we have the most soldiers there, and have "lead the way" from the get go. First, it's not a "war" I don't think it's even classed as a war. It's an occupation. Just like we occupied Germany after the world wars, we are currently occupying Iraq. The "war" is on terror, and only specific terrorist threats. Personaly, I'm scared to crap that North Korea has nukes, and threatens teh entire world to stay out of their face, or suffer the consequences. I also don't understand how such a large % of of insurgent forces aren't even Iraqi's, they're Syran. So why aren't we fight the terrorists in Syria? Oh wait, there's no oil interests in Syria. I guess that's okay to leave our soldiers as open targets for them though. At this point I don't know if we can get our men and women out safely, it may be even longer before we can, and who's to say that once we train their military, that they wont turn into another Al Queada, or Sadaam, Noreaga situation? Didn't we fund and train most of those forces in years past for $$ interests? And were those American $$ interests or personal $$ interests? I think we need to find a way to get our people home, and stop putting our noses in some of these foreign affairs that we'll end up spending 10xs as much on the next time we're there cleaning up the mess' that we helped make.

Ooh, a topic I like. Here's the deal w/ Halo fanatics. Most people are cool w/ the game, beating it only takes a few hours, and w/ two people even less. The real die hards are all about the multi player action. You can have two teams, up to 16 people, and you can play it from all over the world now! For an idea of what it's like, google halo movies. You'll get a lot of personal blog sites that people have edited game play from(PC version I guess). It's way better then the actual game play, w/ a lot more options and maps. The word on the movie is that they will either make one really long movie, or most likely a trilogy, if they can keep making money on them. The intro, or first part will be based on the Spartan army. These are the cyborg characters that you play as. As I understand it, there once was a whole army of them. They really want to get that story out there and tell what happened to that army. Then they would move onto the stories behind the Covenant, and the battles between the those species and the humans. There really is a plot behind the games. There are books too, but I haven't read them. I got the info from my bud who has read them and is an even bigger fanantic then I.

My Very First Time With A Girl I was already 20
floresid replied to sonorama's topic in Dating And Relationships
First times aren't supposed to great, onl y a few people can say that it was. For the rest of us, it's like learning to ride a bike, it's embarassing, but once you get it down, you can do it for hours! My first time was w/ one of my best friends in high school. I was almost 16(legal age here) and she 18 headed for college. I didn't feel quite so akward cause I knew she really cared for me and was a friend. I must have done something right, cause by the time I was 18 I was dating a 28 year old!
