Giving Alms To Beggars. Do we have a moral obligation?
floresid replied to Jeune's topic in General Discussion
This is a really hard topic to be fully one sided on. I think most of a us w/ a conciense(?) feel some sort of pitty for the begger, or @ least guilt cause we're not right there next to them. And a lot of us give a few cents or something cause we're thankful that we're not in the same boat.I agree w/ what people say about giving food instead of cash though, when we do get transients out on the corners w/ signs asking for money for food or a ride to the somewhere I may toss out a couple of bucks if I have it on me, but if I'm in town to get food, I'll pick up a couple extra burgers and hand them out instead.I was just in Texas/ Mexico border area earlier this year and they're trying to stop the "panhandling" amongst children there as well. There are huge billboards on the border towns asking people not to buy from the chidren selling their gum, toys, and trinkets. They would rather have them in school, then learning how to barely get buy on tourists genorosity. I think that's a great concept.I'm right there w/ you too Saint Michael. I believe a lot of these homeless and welfare recipient people should be put to use by our government. How many countless thousands of unemployed, fully able to work people, are there from New Orleans, living off the gov. right now, while we send people from all over the country, and pay them good money, to rebuild their homes and cities? Too often would a lot of these people rather play the victim, and cry about it.*Steps off soap box*Thanks for the "vent" guys, this may get moved there after I'm done! -
What Eye Colour Would You Prefer? If you could change it?
floresid replied to life_is_life's topic in General Discussion
I picked black, as did the majority @ this point. I think they would have a little more "depth" then my normal brown. I had a little cuz who's eyes were so dark brown they looked black, even in the sunlight, they looked cool! -
Military Laser Brings 'star Wars' Reality Closer
floresid replied to DYABLO's topic in Science and Technology
I saw this on Discovery or something. They were planning on building a 747 size aircraft w/ on in it. The cone of the plane would have the focusing mirror attached, and the internals would spread throughout the plane. They figured it would work great for countries w/ potential WMD's. We could patrol their air space w/ a few of these, and if they launched, we could shoot them down from a couple of hundred miles away. Essentially making unstable (more like uncontrollable) countries like N. Korea, and their Nuclear arsenal less of a threat. -
That was a funny vid, they went through all that trouble, and the kid was still wearing his grey tennis shoes!

That's awesome, where did you demo it @? I heard Best Buy was gettin one, but it was going to be a false tower w/ a video that plays on the tv screne . I've got two XBOX's, but rarely play them anymore. I think the concept of the 360 is awesome, but don't think I can justify the $400 bones to get it started, plus games! Maybe next year, unless I sell all my current toys, and a kidney to get the upgrade.

Wow, why do these things always end in violence? Germany is a democratic country right? I would have guessed this in China in T-square year ago, but not in a country where the courts had approved the gathering. But there are always two sides to the story, and it's hard being on the "armed side" when you're always in the minority. At what point do you consider the crowd to be getting a little too agressive? When you're out numbered 5-1, 10-1, how many chances can you take? Is one bottle okay, how about give? Anytime there is a large group of people together, emotions run high and things can get out of hand. Do you remember what happened a few years ago during MTV's big concert(was supposed to be like Woodstock)? There was rioting and burining down of stages and vendors booths. This kind of stuff is hard to predict, and the law is there to try and limit it/prevent it from getting worse.

He Said Simple Vexel Boy with cool hair vexelled and stuff.
floresid replied to Becca's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
He looks like he's wearing a blue skirt, w/ big hair, and black make up, kind of like my bud's halloween costume! Cool work, one of these days I hope to learn some of these cool tricks. -
I used to think it was possible, but then I realized it was more lust or infatuation. The two times I thought it was possible ended up being immature or totally physical relationships. Now that I've been around the block a few times and can compare notes, I think I know better.I think that once you really get a good feeling for what love is, you'll start to get a better feeling of the difference between love and lust. Although both can be satisfying, only love can really be fulfilling.

So you never knew you were adopted? If you did, you had to have known that you were originally "someone" else, before you were adopted. As far as the B-day thing goes, does that really matter, it's just a day that most people either party too hard on, or don't want to even acknowledge. So why should it matter which date it falls on?Most parents will do whatever they need to in order to make their kids feel normal, accepted, and loved. If that means not giving them all the facts as a child, then they do what they have to. How old are you now? Do you really believe that all those years spent w/ your adopted family are really worth throwing away, cause they tried to protect you form feeling out of place? I know if I adopted a child, I would probably change their name, so that child would be more "mine." I would also know when I felt that child was mature enough to know the truth and share it with them.

How We'll Get Back To The Moon in 2018
floresid replied to tdktank59's topic in Science and Technology
I can see why people want to go the moon/mars and so on, but seriously we have so many issues here @ home, yet we give billions to NASA every year to play w their toys. I bet if we took one year off of NASA's budget, we could get a heck of a start on fixing social security, lowering our national interest rates, feeding the homeless, or a number of other things out country is lacking in. I don't see why it has to be America's checkbook that pays this bill. What happened to joint ventures? If it's man's destiny, or it will benefit "all of mankind" why are we the only ones paying for it? If it will fit four astronauts, then let four countries split the bill and send one from each. The race to the moon is over, now it's time to look at realistic ways of really making it affordable and plausable to move forward, and I believe it should be a joint venture. -
My First Sig My first attempt at making a sig
floresid replied to rvalkass's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I don't think the dark blue horizontals add a lot it either, you should try to bring out the fractal more, possibly brighter coloring. Also, does the image have a big balck ball in the middle? Or a sheild? Whatever it is, it seems brighter then the rest of the image. Cool look though. -
The Best Rpg's What do you think is the best.
floresid replied to Megaman's topic in Computer Gaming
Final Fantasy is an awesome RPG. I got really hooked on FFVII, but didn't own a PS2 to continue in the genre. I did pick up an XBOX though. I did the whole Fable thing, so much potential, so little out put. Took like 4 days to beat. Side quests were comical, as was much in the game, not enough violence. But you can have relationships w/ men or women , which I found odd. I don't know if you can consider Halo an rpg, game play is good, but not much for quests/outside plots. I hear that Knights of the Old Republic is the latest and greatest in RPG though, I believe there's two parts out now. -
I agree w/ sangdukseo, the rendor is a little large, plus the border "bleeds" through the head a bit. Size it down a bit and clean up the image, looks better then I could do!

Try to use a automatic vehicle, easier then a stick when you're nervous. Also, most driving tests allow you to fail in one or more part and still pass as a whole. So don't sweat it if you know you messed up in an area, you can still pass the rest and be fine. Don't worry unless the person testing you makes you leave the driver seat.As far as the written, study and you should be fine. Have fun, and good luck!

Mayank by far, HmmZ is just too difficult to make out the image and writing, could be cleaner.

I'm w/ Tyssen. You can't generlize. I for one don't believe that I'm better then women. I do believe that each sex has a role to fill, and there are certain levels of respect and accountability to each position. Unfortunately, these days, everything turns into a battle of the sexes, race, or some other form of inequality. If you have a problem w/ someone in particular, don't take it out on their whole group(for lack of a better word). Deal w/ individuals, not people!

Religion Spawns New Marketing For Ipod iBelieve

Hey, I actually kind of like that accessory. In a time when "accessories" can run you more the products you originally pay for, @ least that one let's people express themselves in a positive way. But I am biased since I have a strong christian belief, I've got a cross tattood on my shoulder! It's a cool gift idea though, I have to see if my pasture has gotton the new shuffle, I'll hook him up w/ the new lanyard! -
Sorry to hear it dude! Don't feel bad about your quick decisions though, we all go through that. Which is why there's like a rule to how long you should wait before making any decisions/actions in these situations. If she's moving though, do you really want to try the long distance thing? Plus didn't you state that she met somebody while you were on vaca? A years' a long time, give it a couple of weeks before you really jump to any conclusions, hopefully it will get easier. Laterz!

Some things the government does are ridiculous, I don't know if I'd argue your point though. I own my home, and pay taxes. Those taxes go to schools mainly in my state. Yes, I do have kids, so it pays for their teachers, buildings and other things. Plus it pays for our fire departments, and I think the police force too. Which I plan to apply for shortly-consequently paying my own salary, hopefully. As before mentioned, car taxes pay for the road you drive on, the bridges you cross, and the intersection that gets you off the highway, to you're home, that you bought w/ the education that started in elementary school, paid for by your taxes. Now be glad you don't live in Washington state. Our governor is trying to pass the "Death Tax", which would take a % of any and everything you own @ the time of death and keep their percent. Which means that if you only own property, and no cash, you family has to come up w/ the cash to claim the property or the state can sell it, take their cut, and give you what's left. Have you ever been to a government auction? Our state is also primarily governed by the "west side", the Seattle/Tacoma area. True they have the majority of the population, but they shouldn't dictate our taxes. Recently they decided w/ our governors help, to up our gas tax. We currently have one of the highest gas taxes in the country. This was to pay for highway funding, on the west side of the state. If you didn't catch it, I live on the east side of the state. On a recent venture through my lovely state, I spent time on the west side. Gas is actually, on average, 10 to 15 cents cheaper in alot of the places I went there. Go figure! Thanks for getting me started!

Why hasn't California gotton a waterpark? I'm not big on the ginormous coasters, so I skip going there when in California, I guess it'll be Universal next year instead.
