As far as I am concerned your entry is magical of sorts, I don't think I have ever seen a real person with ears like that. Magical/Fantasy.... close enough. Voting for yourself? I guess so, just most people don't. I personally don't like to vote at all in a SOTW I have entered, unless there are not many votes. I'll just do it to make up the numbers and I have never voted for myself.

How aboot dis wan? I know he's a cartoon and I said the render you wanted to use looked too 'cartoonish', but ain't nobody gonna mess with this canny scot! You could call him a Scottish 'Popeye', only he uses a can of haggis instead of spinach! [EDIT] And just for the heck of it, here he is wearing your band's tartan! (I had to change the color of his top and pipes to suit) Enjoy!

I used the filter in Texture--->Texturizer. It's not all brushes ya know.

Did I waste my time with fulfilling this request? Any feedback Giant Roy?

No comments? That's disappointing.

As savge17 has said, this a basic sig that can be improved to make it a great sig. Every sig should have a border The text effect makes it look like something is missing, perhaps a 1 pixel stroke would help. Try blending the render into the background a little. The font used for the text is not good, try a more solid looking font. Try a different render, this one doesn't have enough impact for me, (looks too cartoonish). I'm not sure what graphics program you are using, but if you're not using Photoshop or something like it, then I suggest you do. If price is a problem, can I suggest using GIMP, it has a lot of the fuctionality of Photoshop and it's free. Programs like these can take a bit of getting used to, but it's worth putting in the time and effort to learn how to use them if you want good results. As savge17 has mentioned, visiting the Tutorial section of the forums will help you a lot. I visited your web site just to see if I could learn a little about you, I love the photo of the little piper on the "Hire-A-Piper" page.

Grow V3.0 - Flash "simcity" by a very talented guy
Avalon replied to dodgerblue's topic in General Discussion
This game is VERY addictive, I love it! I must say though, I prefer the actual "GROW ver.3", the one that is a sphere. I like it because it gives you a score and there can be different outcomes. I played it for a while, (too long) and this is the best score I made. How high can you score? -
Excellent tutorial, very easy to follow and produces a nice result. Just a tip for those wanting the easy way to align your text in the center of your layer. Choose your text layer then press V, then press Ctrl+A. Now you can align your layers with either the alignment tools at the top of the screen or by going to Layer--->Align To Selection... Here's what I made using your tutorial.

Here is my entry, good luck everyone.

I think keep the bar, just fix the wording and alignment. What about your name? Do you think it needs to stand out more?

And The Longest Sig Belongs To... How long is your sig?
Avalon replied to michaelper22's topic in General Discussion
I think it's going a bit far when your sig has more content in it than your actual post. When I had a dial-up connection, I had to turn the viewing of sigs off, it slowed down the loading of the forum too much for me. I have ADSL now so it's not so bad. Just the same, have some consideration for dial-up users, not everyone has a blistering fast internet connection. -
This was to be my entry in SOTW #34, but I was too late in entering. I'm not overly pleased with the render but I was having a lot trouble finding something I liked. The render is actually a statue, hence I used "The Eternal Kiss" name. Looking at the other entries in SOTW #34, I think it might have stood a chance of winning. What do you think? Not that it matters, it's all too late for this SOTW, but I won't miss the next one!
-
As I have said in SOTW #34, I think it conveys the feeling of love very well. Although, at first glance it could look like the man is trying to strangle the woman from behind. :lol:I think your name should have slightly higher opacity to make it stand out more and I think there is a typo in the phrase, I think "join" should be "joined". Nice work as usual Mike. :lol:EDIT: Just noticed something else, the text in the band is not quite central, it sits a little high.

Another New Sig Anniversary Sig-BLACK WATCH
Avalon replied to PIPER-4-HIRE's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
The text needs something to make it stand out from the dark areas of the background more, perhaps add a glow to the text. It definately needs a border to give that finished look. I agree with MaRocker, the logo and text needs to be made more central, the main text is central so everything needs to line up to suit. -
This is Giant Roy's request thread, please do not hijack someone else's request. Also, please read this post before making any requests.

Delete Button In Trap17 Gallery Doesn't Work.
Avalon replied to Avalon's topic in Web Hosting Support
No, unfortunately that doesn't work. If you leave the "Image to upload" box blank, it retains the original image file in the post. Thanks for trying though. -
It fits the theme and is within the size restrictions so it's fine, good luck.

In the Xisto gallery there is a button to apparently allow you to delete your own post/image. However, when I have tried to use this button I get a "Board Message" saying I don't have the permission to delete. Can we either be given the access to delete our own posts/images in the gallery, or if that is not possible, remove the "Delete" button?

Voting Zabb Vs. Albus Dumbledore animitaion sigs round 1 of 2
Avalon replied to Zabb's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I vote for Zabb too. As SM has said, animation in Albus's is too choppy. It takes more than 4 frames to make a decent animation, the more frames you have the smoother the animation. In addition, with the flickering flame, the lighting on the render should be flickering also. Just a small thing, but it can make a big difference. -
This was a challenging SOTW, well done on the format SM. Like truefusion, I couldn't find a render I thought was suitable either. Anyway, my vote goes to SM. I think it has more 'feel' to it and conveys the feeling of love better. The 2 in the render look like they are in love, wheras in hulunes the characters look like school-yard friends. I would have liked to have seen SM's name with a little more opacity and I don't think the comment is exactly correct. I think it should be "When 2 people are joined together love is forever."

Here Are Links To Thirty Trap17 Websites
Avalon replied to mik's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Unfortunately your search will not return those people hosted with Xisto that have their own domain name, like myself. I don't know how you would search for those sites, but I'll bet you're missing some great sites because of it. Nice idea though. -
It seems I missed this SOTW in my absence. (damn computer meltdowns). Anyways, my vote goes to Albus, mostly for the composition. The use of the additional render I think works very well. I think you need to investigate some different fonts though, the 2 fonts used in this sig seem to be used on a lot of your sigs. The dashed border is something different and I like it.
