  1. Unfortunately we have 2 disqualifications in this SOTW. Both garbage and Edgecoc failed to keep the size of their sigs within the size restrictions. As a reminder, the size requirements were as follows: width: between 300 and 350 pixels height: between 100 and 150 pixels garbage's sig is 380 x 120 pixels and Edgecoc's is 450 x 125 pixels. To keep the competition fair, everyone must follow the same design criteria. garbage and Edgecoc, please feel free to enter in the next SOTW. itsmyard http://gfxgamerz.fr.yuku.com/ Avalon kylelnsn Saint_Michael Agentb Please provide a reason for your vote and use the following voting format.
  2. Voting is now closed. Congratulations to itsmyard for winning this week's SOTW with 2 votes. Here is your tab, display it with pride.
  3. Considering Xisto - Web Hosting is one of the reasons we are able to have free hosting, it's a good thing it is promoted the way it is. If you owned this business, where would you prefer to direct people? To your free hosting service or your paid hosting service that will provide an income? While agree the template does look cluttered, the Xisto - Web Hosting advertising must still have significant focus on the site, without it there will be no free hosting. Yes, I'm sure there is income made from the advertising on the forum, but I don't know that the advertising alone is enough to support the free hosting. I'm no good at making templates, but I have looked at Paul's site and he does a nice job, (you sure you're only 15?) and I'm sure there are many others that can make a good template. Perhaps a contest would be a good idea, it couldn't hurt.
  4. The biggest difference I can see in CS2 is the Animation palette it has, no need to use Imageready to do animation now. There is also the option of 'Smart Objects', not exactly sure how to use it yet though.
  5. I found the render here at http://ww2.render-world.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t I'm not sure what game it is from.
  6. I was bored so I made this animated sig. Not as good as I had hoped. Due to the color limitations of the gif format I had to keep the background very basic.
  7. I have tried doing something like this before but without a lot of success. However, I do recommend the program called AutoREALM. It's a free map making program, you can download it here. https://sourceforge.net/projects/autorealm/
  8. Don't worry, you might be surprised by the results of the SOTW, I know I am often surprised by the sig that wins. These contests are all about what people like, not the technical ability of the person that made the sig.
  9. Everybody likes different things, apurva may well like yours better than mine. I only posted it because I had already finished making the sig for this request before I noticed you had posted. There is nothing wrong with the sig you made, it's just a different style.
  10. The scary thing is they seem to have been in business for quite a while. Assuming this is true of course. And to think people complain about having to post to here get better than what these people offer for FREE!
  11. Yes this idea is pretty simple, the biggest thing that will stop it is the efficiency of the motor and generator. While motors and generators are fairly efficient, they are not 100% efficient, due to friction mainly. To explain this in basic terms, let's assume both the motor and generator have an efficiency of 90%, I think it is actually less than this but it will do for this example. Let's assume the motor consumes 1000 watts and the generator output is 1000 watts. Sounds like a nice balance doesn't it? The fact is, due to being 90% efficient, the generator will require a motor of around 1100 watts to to drive it sufficiently for it to output 1000 watts. So now we need a bigger motor to drive the generator, but wait a minute, as the motor is also 90% efficient, we need around 1200 watt motor to drive the generator. That means we need a bigger generator to drive the bigger motor, which means we need a bigger motor to drive the bigger generator... ARGH! See the problem with this idea? If both the generator and motor were 100% efficient, this might work, but alas, that is not the case.
  12. You could be right, time will tell I guess. I'll be watching with interest to see if these links appear in Google. It just seems 'too good to be true' for me. I suspect he eventually intends to sell his 'secret', therefore I, and probably others, would like to be certain it is not just another con job.
  13. Umm Mike, I think you have overdone it with the flare again. Is there a render under that flare? If there is, I can't see it. As what has happened with other sigs when you use this flare effect, the flare tends to 'wash out' everything.
  14. I like this one much better than the others you put in your poll. None of them appealed to me and because you didn't have an option to say I don't like any of them, I didn't vote. :rolleyes:With this one, I don't understand why you have the numbers beside the menu options and I agree with true about the green bar. I think it would have been much better if it was the same color as the background. I think the overall theme goes well with the name, it looks very modern and the name sounds very modern.
  15. Let me understand this. You say you have many linkbacks from sites that have page ranks of between 3 and 5. Therefore, one would think these sites with such high page rankings would be listed in Google. One would also think that if I was to type "link:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; in a Google search, I would see a list of these pages that link to your site. However, when I do this, no links at all are found. Now if I type a seach for links to my site like this, "link:http://www.mudmall.com/;, then a list of sites linking to my site is shown, a small list I admit, but a list nonetheless. To see how effective this type of search is, try searching for "link:https://www.microsoft.com/de-de; and you will see there are around 191,000 pages linking to the Microsoft site. Out of interest, "link:https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl; generates a list of 1,600,000 links, no surprise there. How do you explain that you supposedly have PR2 to PR5 sites linking to your site, yet Google cannot find these links? Something doesn't look right here.
  16. Vector brushes are basically brushes that are made up of symbols. Click here for a range of vector brushes from deviantart.
  17. This in itself might install another virus. Be careful.
  18. So I guess you have to ask yourself a question. Is the information I have on my hard drive worth $40? If it is, then buy the program. If it's not, then do nothing. Pretty simple really.
  19. Here's my entry. For some reason I find vector sigs very difficult to make.
  20. The edges of the render look blurred, perhaps you had the lasso tool set to feather rather than just anti-alias? A sharper cut would have been nicer.
