  1. I started three blogs at once a while ago. I was thinking of publishing a e-book on web design/development but had to delete it all and quit the idea. It was not my fault. It was those stupid blog scripts. I could not find a way to tell the script not to interpret my HTML markup but to write it on screen instead. I tryed <pre> (preformated) tag, but unfortunate. Only way to publish HTML is to instert it as a picture. That required too my work on my side so I simply put it all of. I quit. Now I write on my comp ocasionally.
  2. I've been here on Xisto for quite some time now. It has gained so many users that it became almost impossible to post. I've simly run out of ideas, since everything I want to talk about, ask, answer... HAS ALREADY BEEN DISSCUSED SOMEWHERE! It frustrates me since I must collect my credits somehow! When I first signed for this service I though it was GREAT but now...it annoys me a bit. I ran out of credit every now and then... Right now I'm 11 credits minus and I don't like it at all. I'm considering writing a tutorial, but it just consumes too much time to do so, and it does not last long enough. Acording to my calculations, if you want hosting on Xisto, you must spend at leas an hour posting!!! That's way too much for me, since I'm a colledge student, partially emolployed, and have no time at all. Agrrrr! I HATE Xisto!
  3. You want to learn PHP and you ask for CPanel "tutorial"?? I don't actually get it but the above mentioned link should do it.If, by chance, you meant PHP tutorial then http://php.net/ would be the place to go.
  4. You should not worry until you reach 80 ?C :huh:Just, to make sure you are safe, check your bios settings and make sure "turn on computer if temperature is above 60-65 C" option is on. Depending on the mother board, you might have an option to turn on "warnings" if temperature gets too hot. Turn "warnings" on at 60 C, and "shut down" at 75C and you should be fine.
  5. Try pixel2life.com. You have plenty of tutorials out there. Don't forget to look at Xisto's turorial section, since there are a lot of tuts too. If you are good at arts and drawing then you might just draw your page on paper and then transform it to electonical form. I'm not so I do all my desinging directly in Photoshop. If you don't have a grapshics (design) expirience at all then you might first take some time and create some simple sites since knowledge of desing comes with expirience and not from the books or anything! And, of course, you can always find something on net that suits your needs (like some kind of template) and use it. But please give credits to real authors
  6. I dont even want to think about it. :huh:My whole life evolved around computers (since my first commodore 64). Maybe, I would invent one
  7. First to tell you: there is no "web desing language". Desing is one proccess, web development is another. Design is done by desingers (graphics), and development (implementation, programming, coding, markup) is done by developers. Designers use tools like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Ilustrator, CorelDraw, GIMP, etc. Developers use languages like HTML, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript. All those have different uses. Some are script languages, some are mark-up languages. Some script languages are client-side, while others are server-side languages. It takes a lot of unsleeped nights to cover all of it, so you might consider learning one of them, OR you might make a comitment to learn them all (design&development). If you just want to "play" with web sites, then you might try some of many CMS (Content Management System) out there. Google for PHPNuke, Mambo Open Source. Read their documentation, play with them, and see if that is for you. If you want to go on designer path I recomend Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks. Photoshop is more complex but more (if not the most) powerful, while Fireworks is more "user-friendly" and intuitive. You might try Macromedia Flash too. You probably have seen some flash sites out there and you know what it is about. If not go to http://web.burza.hr/ If you want to program suff for web (like polls, forums, shoping carts, etc.) then you might go for either PHP/MySQL (free) or ASP/MSSQL Server combination. I prefer PHP, and recomend it to noobs (very easy to learn language, with a lots of built-in functions). You'll also need some databases knowledge (especially relation databases) if you decide to go that way. As I've already said MySQL is best combined with PHP.
  8. If you set up your computer well then leaving it on might not harm you BUTyou probably wont set it up well :huh:I've tried a lot of combinations and came to conclusion that (which is logical by the way) hard disk lasts a lot less, if running all the time. They wear out and become useless. There is always option (in most popular OS'es at least) that enables you to turn of hard disk after some period of inactivity, but it does not help much. Turning comp on and off all the time is not good niether. A lot of read/write takes place during these processes...
  9. I'm interested how many of you use .NET framework, how do you like it, what are it's pros and cons, and anything that comes accross your mind related to it?I'm using PHP/MySQL combination for now, but I'm considering move to ASP.NET. I've never even used ASP, so what do you recommend? ASP.NET or NOT ASP.NET? Or maybe to start with ASP?
  10. If you have manual for your type of motherboard you can find meaning of some sounds there. Three beeps usually mean RAM problem. Some other beeps mean disk problem, or keyboard and so on. Have you assembled your pc by yourself? Then check every component in there. Look for cooler voltage connector (to mb). Your computer might be overhearing since fan stops running at start. Then bios probably shuts it down for "safety" (read fire) reasons. If your comp worked normally and stoped suddenly one day then something (some component) might be dead.
  11. Actually I was thinking of Barbie and Ken have bought a new house, but anyway... http://www.gamespot.com/ is a good place to start looking for reviews and stuff for any game and console (including pc). I think you might find some fun in adventure games like Syberia, or Monkey Island (older series) and similar games. Maybe No One Lives Forever is for you since main characher is female. p.s. Why don't you like Barbie? I do
  12. I think that people are using cms where they should not. Pure html at half of sites in "showcase" section of dotnetnuke.com could be done with a pure html+css. Content managemenet systems are for sites with CONTENT not for static sites (like company datasheets). I see no point, except that you dont have to desing your site, since you can download templates and themes to use for free. I prefer designin my sites myself.
  13. Nicely arrangend php-nuke. what else can I say :rolleyes:Since I'm active here on Xisto, I cant afford to join another forum right now. sorry pal...
  14. Problem is in this part: I can't tell exactly where since I dont have a compiler and time to analyse it now. Tell me what kind of message you get as return error and it might go smoothly.... It's probably somewhere in this for loop.
  15. Here is my temporary http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  16. Oh, yes, I forgot to rate Bosnia.I'll give it a 6/10 just because I was born here...If I was a foreigner I would probably rate it 2/10
  17. Good to see brother form Bosnia. (DreamCore, Sweden)Just to inform you: things are not going better over here. I guess it was long time since you have been here :rolleyes:People are still leaving Bosnia. Reasons: can't find a job, bad education, a lot of crime (especially in politics, where there should be LAW), bad economy (companies close on day by day basis), etc. I think you get the picture.
  18. Yes, I've heard about it, but are there any exact examples of use of nanotechnology today?Do you have any links to sites about it? I've read some articles but it is usually just talk and talk, nothing special. Is nanotechology being used today anywhere, anyhow?
  19. What do you people enter the most often in google or your favourite search engine??Since I'm from bosnia, usually the terms I enter are in bosnian. Various organizations, tv or other types of shows and entertainment, guides, books, shops and stuff like that.In english, I look for web desing and development suff the most. Also I look for other computer related suff. Lately I use wikipedia search in firefox instead of google (if I'm interested in knowledge and dont wanna waste time looking for apropriate site).
  20. So, I know there are a lot of folks here at Xisto. I guess 90% of them (if not all) are here for free hosting. This is what it is all about after all. So, be honest, and tell us do you acctually read other peoples posts, so you join the disscusion apropriatelly or do you just read the first post (like this one) and then answer to the question (if it is a question) or give your opinion and take on it??I personaly somtimes do read (if it is something interesting), but sometimes (if it is a poll or somthing I dont like to talk about) I just say what I think without reading other posts before me (just skim through them). This way I earn a lot of credits for my hosting and not spam Xisto. I dont like spaming people and bore other members. There are also some more "tactics" I use for collecting credits but that is only when it's necessary.
  21. Sure I'm. I collect computer related stuff since that is what interests me.I collect.- games- programs- other software- pdf documents- and ebooks (it might sound the same but its not )- digital pictures- photoshop suff- saved web pages- videos- moviesALL DIGITAL (divix, dvd, avi, bla bla)Yes, looks like I'm a collector after all
  22. select the part that you want to look like in water then go to filters and apply ripple filter to your likings there are other techniques but this one should do it
  23. Nice! I still wonder why only 10000?? There should be at least quadruple of that, since this is the best free hosting out there!!I guess you guys don't advertise much to your friends
  24. What kind of file is it? Is it a video of picture? Windows tries to display thumbnails of videos and pictures. DONT ASUME THAT IF YOU ARE NOT IN THUMBNAIL VIEW THAT THE FILE IS NOT BEING USED BY WIN!It checks other information too. So, when you click a file, it is in use for some time. That time might extend as long as your computer is running I know, I know. How should I delete it then, you ask?Well, first you should try wainting. Just like that. Wait some time. Exit folder and eneter again. Wait some time before pressing del.Next, you shoul try entering another directory QUICKLY after you select the file and press delete. This way WIN will look for information in that directory you just entered, and not on your file. If that file is the only one in folder (or directory) create a new folder, put something in it, then as soon as you press del while desired file is selected, enter this newly created folder. If this does not work, close all folder, run command (start->run->type cmd). Navigate to folder where file is located (by using cd dirname). Once there type del filename.extIf windows says that the file is in use even then, then you should enter safe mode and try deleting that way.During startup sequence (when you turn on your comp) press f8 rapeatedlly until boot menu show up. Select safe mode without networking (or with it, it does not matter). Try deleting the file while in safe mode.I hope this was helpful!
  25. It might be helpful if you said what operating system are you using??
