I know what you mean. I think the Wii is really gimmicky, and will get old really fast. I mean, I think it would be fun to try out, but get boring really quickly. Like DDR (dance dance revolution). Every time I went go to the movies, I get this really strong urge to play the DDR there. But I figure, I should just wait, I can play when I get home. But when I get home, I don't really feel like playing anymore. I think a Wii would be just like that. you see everyone taking a test drive at the mall, and you want to play too. But then the urge to play will just fade away. The playstation is okay, but I like the gamecube more. Sure the PS3 has really nice graphics, but I can't really tell. I don't think I ever could tell, unless I compared them side-by-side or something. Then again, I havn't played my PS3 very much, so maybe I can't see the difference because my eyes are untrained.

I have to say Wii just because the Wii is fun no matter what game you're playing, it's fun. It's great for party games because you can either make youself look stupid infront of alot of people which you know in partys that's always fun. Or you can play and enjoy the single player games. That And the virtual console with Nes, TurboGraphx, Hudsonware (I think they're bouth the same console) Nes, Snes, Sega Genisis, AND N64 games you can download (with a price) and then there's the different capibilities that the Wii is going to/ has a possibility to have. For example Opera Internet browser with sites like Wii-arcade.com (maybe no hyphen) where you can play your favorite flash games using a wii remote which adds a little more challange and fun to it. And it gives more possiblity to online browser (user created) games with the remote and flash, or whatever you want to use it with. so... I have to say WII would like you to play!

I would go for the Wii simply because its the most affordable games console around. Playstation 3 is going over the roof with it's price for the 60GB model (trust me, 20GB is not enough) while Xbox 360 is cheaper but Wii is the cheapest and its more fun with its motion controller. Downside of Wii is the games and graphics though. But hey, theres always ups and downs in techknology so buy whatever you feel like buying! B)

I realised that the first thing for me to look at when I buy a new console is the game titles. If there are no good games for it then I won't buy it. Which is exactly why I will buy the Wii. I love the games like Super Smash Bros, Super Mario (Kart), and Zelda. By the way, Wii is indeed the cheapest like tyfoon said. And while PS3 (and Xbox360 too? No right?) had to move on to BlueRay, for the Wii they were able to get it compressed on DVD in very good quality. Wii for me.

My friend has a Wii. It's a good community system, because everyone gets involved, and its fun.I had an Xbox360 and Perfect Dark Zero when they first came out, but I was so disappointed in the controls and the game, I sold the darned thing off. I haven't tried the PS3 yet, but it didn't seem to have any games I was interested in other than the Metal Gear series, but I'm not even into that that much.If they could combine the power of the 360 and PS3, and the fun Wii controller, I'd say we'd have a winner, eh? haha.

I've given up on playing on consoles for "hardcore" gaming. For me now they're more a source of light fun with friends when they come over or at partys. This is why I think the Wii is the best. It's tiny for a console weights less then my maths textbook and is the cheapest console on the market. The new remote controller although not appropriate for state of the art games is fun, different and very easy to use for a new time player. It allows people at a party all to have fun dispite how many of them may not have used a Wii before. Wii is the best because it's cheap, easy and easily portable.Ok the PS3 has BluRay which does produce some cool graphics but on the whole, if you want realism and high performance gaming, I would get a computer. A state of the art computer is more expensive and this is probably why most people play on consoles but in perspective, there are many computers which give superior graphics and performance to the new generation of consoles. Also, there are like thousands more games on computers then on consoles which gives you more variety. Computers also allow you to use porgrams like fraps to record your own videos and make them into videos. As well as this, many games are released on consoles first and then are actually updated before being released onto the PC. An example of this which leaps into mind is Halo 1 Combat Evolved. The computer version features new weapons and vehicles and multiplayer maps not seen in the Xbox version, including, a flamethrower, a rocket launder warthog and a fuel rod cannon. A more recent example is Halo 3. Although released on Xbox 360 already, the computer version, due in 2008, is being similarly updated. Finally, multiplayer on computers is so much better then on consoles. People say that it's easier to play multiplayer on a console because all you need is a few more controllers but on computer, you can play LAN, which is just as good. You can also play over the internet easily, by just selecting the multiplayer menu in the menu, compared to setting up Xbox Live on the 360 and paying for an additional Live account or using whatever random system the PS3 uses. Lastly, if you are the type of person who for some reason is unable to play games using a mouse and keyboard, it is possible to link up an Xbox 360 controller to your PC and play with that, getting the best of both worlds. There's also a video on youtube which shows you how to use a Wii remote on your PC as well to play games which is soething I have to try. I'll post the link soon when I find it agian. As well as this, there are many specialist PC controlers like those steering wheels and pedals for racing games and joysticks for flight sims.

Ok guys heres the link.

Ok, I don't want to be slanck but this guy does suck at HL2

It is different though so it will take some time to get used to but it's pretty cool...

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Just go to the websites that the guy mentions in the video and download the program for yourself. Enjoy.

Thanks to Bl4ck Fr0g for posting the video!

At the moment the program only lets you play using the Wii remote but soon some geek is probably going to figure out a way to use the Nunchuck controller attachment as well, which will be pretty awsome.

Computers, desktops as opposed to laptops especially, are the way forwards in my mind. The sheer versatility of them means that instead of having two seperate machines (one computer for work etc. and a console for gaming) you can quite happily get away with just one pretty powerful desktop computer that you can upgrade as necessary. Besides, the WASD controls and a mouse are superior to any console controller you care to mention anyway.

Debatable, for me, I get a lot more accuracy on controller than mouse. However, that's just me.

As for two machines, I rather do that, since if one fails, I have another to play on. Exactly what happened w/ my 360. I had my Wii as back up. Plus, I already have a desktop and laptop. One for MSN and internet surfing, the other, doing homework or projects.

That's what I call efficiency.

Or just unnecessary.

If one of your machines fails (for whatever reason) surely the priority is in fixing it / replacing it rather than just moving on to the next one and hoping that it doesn't break too? As for the desktop/laptop combination, that's understandable because of the portability of laptops. I'd still rather have a powerful desktop machine (which would be both my gaming rig and general purpose one), with a laptop that's slightly older so I can still run some fairly nice programs on it without it just generally dying on me, and if nothing else it would serve as forementionned "backup" should something go wrong with the desktop.

Still, I find having two seperate computers for relatively low-resource tasks (last time I checked, a fair number of my projects require internet access :P) a bit over the top, and I never really got in to the solo aspect of the Wii. Sure, it's a great group console, but I'd never fall back to it if I find myself unable to run a game on another machine for whatever reason. It's a novelty, nothing more. B)

Currently, my ideal expenditure would be getting a console (I'm undecided betweeen the Xbox and the PS3, both have pros and cons) and an awesome desktop machine. I'm not really working on the move at the moment, so the portability of a laptop isn't what I really need. If I had to choose between a console and a desktop computer, though, the desktop would win every time. As I said, there's little a console can do that a desktop can't, but definitely not the other way around. Also, desktops are potentially upgradeable (if you don't mind spending a bit of cash on new video cards and so on occasionally), whereas consoles - although they come in different "versions" - are pretty much static. Sure, a new console will come out, and there might be a few updates/upgrades/widgets that you can get for your current one, but it's not going to be top of the range for long. Sure, desktops aren't either, but at least you can do something about that rather than having to buy a new console each Christmas. :)

As for why I prefer WASD and the mouse, something about the joystick things on console controls never really appealed to me, and although I'm by no means a disaster waiting to happen with them, give me a mouse, a keyboard, and a decent framerate and I'm very happy...

Why alter perfection itself? :P
I love the feel of the PS controller, and although the Xbox is growing on me the PS one will always be the shape my hands mould to every time I try to pick up a console controller.

Despite what I said previously about the Wii, though, there is one awesome aspect of it that everyone should try:

Anyone know the "Smartboard" projectors that are becoming more popular in schools and colleges? Picture one of them, with a Wii...turn off the lights, get a second player in, and it becomes a true pleasure to both play and to watch.

The nintendo wii appears to be a good Price-value choice, but it is the first that come with that kind of interface. I will wait others alternatives to this kind of interface.Regards.

I have a Wii and all i have to say is INCREDIBLE! The bowling is lifelike and I've even heard of poeple haveing to go to the hospital because they went alittle too far playing the Wii. The Wii also has a Gamecube in it too so you can play Gamecube games and Wii games! I'm also interested in getting a PS3 but right now i cant afford it. I have a Wii and a PS2 and im hoping to get a PS3 by the end of the school year in May.
