You can scroll down in your cpanel, on the left hand side, at the very bottom, It says "Server status - Click to view" That will show you if it's just your problem or something that is happening across the board. Right now I see that there are a couple of things down. MySQL and something called "eximstats"

Harry Potter 6 Spoilers! Warning: Harry Potter 6 Spoilers
brandice replied to semeticsister's topic in General Discussion
Wow. Thanks for this link, it's bringing up so many possiblities. I'm in the middle of reading the article " Dumbledore's Horcrux" and I just let out a loud "Ahaaaa!" I thought I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen, I think I was on the right path, but this is a great twist that i hadn't thought about. I really hope that the topic of this article is the case. I've read about how people want Harry's parents to come back to life but I don't believe that should happen. Dumbledore, though.. it's all starting to make sense. Do you think it's possible that none of the theories that have been presented are actually going to happen and we will all be surprised? It has to be something like the thoughts on this website. -
It was just our house. We live in this unincorperated subdivision- which is pretty much a neighborhood that can make up it's own rules. In the past they have encouraged people to pay with cash in the night slot. Horrible idea, but that's what they tell you to do. So my mom went in and explained the situation. They told her that someone that she must have given the payment to one of her family members and they stole it. She said she had witnesses, and the security cameras probably have her on tape. She told them, very loudly, that is there was a thief anywhere it was in their house. She made a scene. But she still had to pay the same amount as she did before. Hopefully the people will figure out who stole it. They were trying to treat my mom like she was crazy. But she learned her lesson the hard way and even though they try to tell people not to pay with a check (crazy, isn't it?) she is going to pay with a check from now on. The one good thing, she said, was "that they didn't charge me the $30 to turn it back on" On a lighter note, there were really no ill effects from having shampoo in my hair and soap on me for three hours. After a deep conditioning my hair looked fine. And the body wash was probably 90% lotion anyway so that's good.

The water bill was dropped off at the place two days ago. I don't know what happened, but today when I was in the middle of a shower, shampoo in my hair and body wash from head to my knees, they came and shut off our water. So now I guess I am doing research on what happens to someone covered in dry soap. I tried to get most of it off with towels but I am sort of itchy in places. I am afraid to take this towel turban off of my hair. I hope there are no long term effects from having shampoo in your hair for who knows how long. this is really not any fun at all. We've called my mom at work, who is going to/has called the water company. I just hope this all works out soon. There's a obbsessive compulsive handwasher in the house that is going crazy!

What Is Your Favorite Song? And who is it by?
brandice replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in General Discussion
my favorite song is called Retrovertigo by a band called Mr. Bungle (who have broken up ). It's off an album called California that came out in 1999, I think. It's my favorite CD ever, and there are a lot of really good songs on it- Air Conditioned Nightmare, Vanity Fair, Pink Cigarette, Those are all right near the top of my list as favorites. -
she has to tell him, none of this "have this girl tell this guy to tell him" stuff. If you don't like a person, you have to tell them. I've been guilty in my day of sort of avoiding the issue and hoping that a guy will just give up. It's really not healthy. That, and leading a guy on like that might lead to stalkeryness.

I don't think that america actually has an official language. I quite like the diversity, even though I don't understand very much spanish I find myself listening to spanish radio stations and watching television in spanish all of the time. Maybe because the DJs and hosts can't annoy me if I don't know what they are saying

Girls And Tricky Situations girls and tricky situations
brandice replied to sonycdr's topic in Dating And Relationships
A girl's relationship with her friends is pretty tricky subject. Did the girl who likes you like you before you liked the girl that you like? That's the big question. If so, the girl you like is a pretty good friend. you've spoken to the girl that you like, but what you really need to do is make it definitally clear to the girl that likes you that you really are not interested. It might take some time for her to get over that, but once she does the way should be clear for you. Hopefully. -
If you are going to take medicine (which I never do anymore) You need to remember to take what is appropriate for what is wrong with you. If you've got a lot of phlegm in you you do NOT want to suppress your cough. You need to get all of that stuff out of you. Keeping it all in could lead to something worse, like pneumonia. That happened to me once I finally got sick again.
-
I'm sorry to laugh but this is kind of what everyone feels when they are sick but they are afraid to say. I remember when I was going to be in a school play and the flu was going around. Our Drama teacher told us about the power of positive thinking (along with vitamins and orange juice everyday) to ward of the bug. She often told us we were the worst group of actors she'd ever seen and she didn't even want to try and imagine who she'd have to get if any of us got sick. (that's probably a story for another thread ) Anyway, I used this technique for years and never got the flu or even a cold. It was about eight years before I got sick again!

That looks great. Nice and clean with exellent content. I can see myself going back to read it in the future. Great job!

Weirdest Thing You've Eaten Frogs and locusts for me...
brandice replied to callum's topic in General Discussion
I love calamari! but I can't eat the little ones that are actually shaped like the squid. It has to be cut into chunks or rings. I can't eat food that is shaped like the animal I am eating.you can tell, I am not very adventerous when it comes to trying weird new food. I do love shark though. That's about as weird as I'll go. And I accidentally ate an ant once- it had a taste like the smell of gasoline. -
when it's a topic I feel strongly about I will read every word, when it's something I think I might have something to add to I might just skim or sort of speed read the thread to see if anyone else has already made my point :(I won't waste my time even clicking on threads that I know nothing about or wouldn't care about because I am on a mission when I am here. The related threads and search functions are very handy for finding things I feel I can talk about. On other forums that I post at for fun, I find myself reading every single post. Sometimes I re-click the same thread that is of no interest to me several times. Sometimes they change the subjects 3 pages into a 6 page thread. Lucky here people tend to stay on topic throughout things so it's not as much time wasted.

That's true about never getting money back once it's gone. I've seen what has happened with my own mom, I guess I take after her. All of her life she's loaned her siblings money and let them stay at our house when they've gone through hard times. I can't remember a solid year in my childhood when there wasn't some stray uncle or friend living at our house. The problem is, usually when you loan out money or give someone shelter, even if you know they will never pay you back the people you've helped will start getting testy. They don't know what to do and they feel awkward. My mom and aunt didn't speak to each other for 14 years after my aunt and her family stayed with us. And We still haven't been in contact with my uncle in nearly 20 years because he is afraid that a couple thousand dollars is hanging over his head. To update the original post- I am going to finally get a bank account next week! and I am going to attempt to not let anyone know how much I have, or if I have any money at all. This is going to be tough. But it's an important thing to learn how to do.
-
So, I've been trying to save up as much money as I can for something (that I won't get into now, but I am sure I will share my experiences once the time comes nearer) for a few months. I have this horrible problem of giving my money away though. Whenever someone asks me I can not say no. I think I need to find a way to get money and not let anyone know I have it.So now, nobody around needs money but the fan/power deal on my computer seems to be acting up again, and there goes the savings. It seems that whenever I am just about to make a little headway in the savings department something breaks or someone really needs to buy something. I feel like screaming.

June 6th 2006 - The Devils Number Possibly the end of the world?
brandice replied to Kubi's topic in General Discussion
I remember, back in the day, there was a Christian "heavy metal" band called Stryper, and they always has 777 on stuff, like that's God's number. I'm not sure why. I don't think they made that bit up. Or maybe they did because they wanted people to know that God is 111 better than the devil? haha -
Trolling Is Illegal all you flamers and such beware.
brandice replied to Trystim's topic in General Discussion
How can you really put a scale on what is 'annoying'? I really can not see any way that it is possible to enforce this law. There are a lot of people who don't use their real names, and there are also a lot of people who are annoying without realizing it. -
Do You Think That Friday The 13th Is Bad Luck?
brandice replied to karlo's topic in General Discussion
So it is going to be Friday the 13th tomorrow. I think if you go into the day thinking that unlucky things are going to happen, anything unlucky that does happen will be blamed on the day. But it's usually stuff that happens everyday , Like I remember once when I was little I was sewing and I kept dropping my pens on the carpet and having to pick them up. I blamed Friday the 13th until someone reminded me that i was clumsy and I would have dropped them anyway. My sister was married (her second marriage) on a Friday the 13th- It was in February and the church was booked up for Valentine's Day the next day. While we were about to go out she asked me, worried, "Do you think it's a bad sign getting married on Friday the 13th?" and I told her that there was no way it could be as bad as her first marriage. I think this year will be their 8th anniversary and things are still fine. -
June 6th 2006 - The Devils Number Possibly the end of the world?
brandice replied to Kubi's topic in General Discussion
My prediction for that date is that there are going to be a lot of children born. I know that seems strange but there are a lot of people who think it would be a "wacky" thing to do. I even saw things around places on the web saying how this was the week to conceive and all of that. I think it was sometime in September. Very silly. -
The thing I like about gmail labels more than the folders that you use in other email providers is that you can use more than one label on each letter. For example, I like to save important chat transcripts, I have labels for each person who was there and the topics that were discussed instead of just throwing it into a one folder and forgetting where I put it. Then, once you label the letters you can archive them to get them out of your inbox.

I haven't get any new baseball cards for a few years, but i have quite a large collection. (I'm actually going to start selling them off soon) I also collected happy meal toys and pez dispensers but I've given most of them away to my nieces. I'm sort of going through a phase of life now where I don't want as much stuff. I would consider myself in the past a collector of collections- a packrat. I don't know if I could give up the office supplies collection though. That one is really weird. I collect index cards in all sizes and colors and manila file folders to keep my collections of papers organized.
-
It's a phase of life. People said exactly the same things waaay back when I was in high school, but most of them grew out of it. It kind of like some of the slang from when I was really little. I remember in first grade we'd always say things that were really easy were "cinchy" (sp?) anyway, many years later I was babysitting my little cousin and she said that word. It's something 6 year olds say.

There are also huge brush fires at the top of Texas that have been burning for over a week and have killed at least five people and destroyed hundreds of homes. I'm not sure why it always seems like when there are big fires like this (usually in California) there are floods going on somewhere else. Right now it's backwards.

Harry Potter 6 Spoilers! Warning: Harry Potter 6 Spoilers
brandice replied to semeticsister's topic in General Discussion
And you know that Dumbledore was going to die anyway, right? The fight with Voldermort that left his hand sort of decaying- I think he was actually dead from the beginning of the book, sort of.It also goes back to the first book, if you remember, one of the first things that Snape was talking about in his class was how potions could give you fame and 'put a stopper on death'... We'll find out in the next book that Snape was actually keeping Dumbledore alive in most of book 6- just long enough to teach Harry what he needs to do in book 7.
