  1. hmm. Am I the only person who was always really creeped out by that guy? I mean, he'd lure people onto a bus. Sure, they all went to six flags but it just frightened me how he'd get the school kids and stuff to go on that bus.
  2. The only one that I've told anyone- and it's sort of a joke- is to drink in public. It's time I started "living it up" I am going to do things that people try to stop, since I've never really done anything "bad" in my life. I am going to be a little more selfish, think about myself a little more, and travel- just experience new things. I've always been very much of a doormatt. I walked three and a half miles today. I think I am going to do it again tomorrow, but I don't think I could do it every day for a year! I think I'll go week by week and month by month with that one.
  3. My mom buys lotto tickets sometimes four times a week, between 3-10 dollars each time. She has me check the numbers for her so when they don't win- 99% of the time- I throw them in a drawer in my room. I guess I am helping her. And I am just as guilty. But if I got out all of the old losing tickets and counted them up, it might make us all think twice.
  4. I guess the smilie ad is annoying if you have your sound up. I never surf to any sites with the sound up so I didn't notice it until just now.I don't turn the ads off here. The actual reason why we have to come here is to look at the ads. Every so often I will even click on one.
  5. exactly. There's been a lot of great advice in this thread. But going back to what Saint Michael said a few pages back, you need to take a break from dating all together for a while. Don't go looking for someone new right away. I've seen it so many times, with friends, 3 sisters, aunts... even myself- If you don't get yourself together and learn to like yourself and feel that you deserve to be treated a certain way you are going to keep dating the exact same guy with a different shell. My older sister must have gone out with 15 guys in her life that were basically the same person before she took some time off and got herself together.
  6. 'Typing in bold to make my point' guy was very hypocritical in this thread. "we accept everyone even if every other religion uncaring and terrible" is what I got out of that. All religion is is a way to explain why we are here, and rules to help us get to wherever we are going to be after we die. Each religion puts a spin on their beliefs to make them seem more important and the right one. The bold post was all spin. The world needs more tolerance, but it's very difficult when religion is the reason for so many wars. But then, the atheist (or whatever) posts are doing the same thing, in a way. Not all christians are like the two guys who told my 7 year old niece she was going to hell because she was outside playing on a sunday instead of going to church. But those are the things you remember. With all that out of the way, I was raised to sort of distrust organized religion and their individual agendas and encouraged to figure things out on my own. And to try to tolerate the beliefs of the people around me, however "militant."
  7. I did see an ad to sign up for gmail on myspace for only one day a few months ago aimed at college students. Perhaps this is something they are trying out briefly in different places and formats just to test out how much response they'll get when they finally do go public everywhere.
  8. Yeah, go with the shy one. But why is this going to affect the rest of your life? This whole "which one do you truly love" thing is confusing to me. You don't have to marry the person you go to the prom with. (do you?) This thought adds way to much stress to a night that is just supposed to be fun.
  9. thanks. I'm not really desperate for space, I just don't see the point in taking up space for stuff I really don't need anymore. I'm kind of going through that spring cleaning thing now, taking down pictures that I don't have up on my pages anymore and whatnot. So I did some investingating into the /tmp folder. the analog section was confusing so I didn't so anything with it. In Awstats, I left the files that ended in .conf alone, as well as the ones that started with dnscachelastupdate. After backing them up on my computer I deleted all of the files (except for the current month) that looked like this: awstats122004.brandice.trap17.com.txt and there doesn't seem to be a problem. The webalizer pages seem to be taking up the most room, 128k each. I got rid of some older months that looked like this: usage_200412.html without a problem.I don't know how much of a difference any of that will make, but I did do some deleting that cleared up quite a bit yesterday. I went through all of my folders and took out the log files that my FTP client sticks in automatically when I upload anything. I'm not exaggerating here- it cleared up over 5mb of room. crazy.
  10. It was about 1997 or so, I think. I got a computer and started going on the internet a few months before. I was involved with different email lists and stuff (the things they used to do more before message boards) I was chatting a lot, and sort of making new online friends. So I got some space on tripod and I put up a very basic page that I made with Frontpage to let people know a little about me. Kind of like a prehistoric myspace page, crappy layout horrible colors and kinda pointless ;)As the months went on, I started to learn about HTML and started throwing pictures and poetry and weird fan fiction on there. Now that I think about it, the page I have here now is nearly the same.
  11. While looking through my awstats today, I was wondering how to remove some of the older stats. I've had my site here for about 16 months now and so there's an awful lot of information in my space that's just taking up room, right? I've even got info for subdomains that I've long since deleted. How or what exactly do I delete to clear the old ones out without messing it up for the next months? I don't want to mess anything up.
  12. Taking a cheater back with a "just as long as you'll never do it again" is sort of like giving them permission to do it again. Maybe that sounds wrong. It's like, the cheater realizes that if you take them back they are going to always have you, and so they know that they can get away with anything and still be able to come back to you. You don't have to be treated like that. You deserve to be respected. Every person is important enough to not have to be treated like a doormat. It's tough to let go when you are in love and you believe that one person is the only person for you. But don't you deserve to have someone who is going to feel the same way about you?
  13. I kind of like the new RSS feed thing they've got going on at the top. They do throw an ad in there every once in a while but I think this is a pretty handy feature. It's also handy that you can switch it off if you'd like.If you do have it on, go into your spam folder and check out what happens. That's a pretty cute joke.
  14. Most people who smoke started very young, except for my dad, who started in his 30's. you would think people would know better by then.Anyway, I've seen how hard it is for people to not smoke. My mom started when she was 12, so she's been smoking about 40 years (yikes!) and when she runs out of cigarettes it's horrible to see what she has to go through. She gets shaky and aggitated and she can't stay still. My older sister stopped though, cold turkey. She hasn't smoked in 8 years or so, but she still get the craving every so often but then she remembers how she's gone so long without one and her pride stops her. She was cranky for about a week, but then she kind of leveled out and became normal. Her ex-boyfriend stopped by getting some shots that put him to sleep for three days- just long enough to get all of the nicotene out of his system.
  15. I don't have a little brother to come and mess things up for me, it's my own head that wakes me up. It seems that my most interesting dreams start just before my alarm goes off in the morning. I know the back of my brain knows what time it is and it just wants to mess with me. haha.
  16. I really like this game. The best part is how you get to ride the rides. I also like the peep creator- I made my whole family Oh, and I love the fact that you can put your own music into it. I made that girl Kara Okie sing some very rude songs.A strange thing happened on my computer though, about a month ago my RCT3 just stopped working, I tried reinstalling it and it just doesn't work. I miss it. I guess I'll have to look it up on their support board.
  17. It seems no one will ever just ask me for a favor or just tell me how they feel. It's like a giant game of operator where if my brother-in-law needs to ask me any sort of question, he'll ask my sister who will ask my mom who will ask me. He just needs to walk up to me and ask, right?Whenever I need to babysit anyone's kids, they don't ask me directly. They have to go through someone else who has to tell me. But it's not like I am some closed person that nobody can talk to. I see these people doing it to each other. I get put in the middle of the chain so often, and I just want to say, "ask them yourself"Yesterday I found out that my sister was uncomfortable with the temperature the heater was set to. How? Through her weblog! She could have just hollered out at me and I could have changed it. Or, she could have gotten off her lazy backside and fixed it herself. It just tops the whole problem off for me.
  18. I remember a few years ago my sister sort of did the same thing to me. She was probably 11 at the time. I forgot to log out of a bbs that I frequent before I went to work. When I got home I saw that she had posted some things. The only thing was she used some swearing and she had a mean attitude and everyone could tell that there was no way that it could have been me. She changed the password and email address while she was in there, and that kind of made it hard for me for a few days. But if your online friends know you and know better, you can tell them what happened and they should understand. It's the lack of respect that some people can have for the personal business of others that is pretty upsetting to me.
  19. Things like this can make us lose our heads, can't they? I had a similar problem last week and had to search for hours to find a solution. Very frustrating. I was sort of snapping at people too. I found what I needed at this site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

LIke it was said before, it's been around so long that people have looked into it. It seems every 6 months or so someone starts a thread about it at one of the boards that I frequent. I've got several myspace bulletins as well. If you look around the site and at the testimonials, you'll see that it's a joke. A middle school teacher in Chicago who wants to get a set for his classroom? Really. Maybe I will get flack for this but I think it's hilarious. I believe the funniest things don't have a big "this is a joke" warning.
  21. My mom told my sisters and I a story when we were younger and starting to date. When she was young, whenever she would start to date a boy or even liked a boy her 'best friend' who was a year older than her would steal him away. Not because she was prettier or nicer than my mom, but because she was willing to do things with boys that my mom wouldn't do. This went on for a few years and the whole time my mom refused to become trampy. When we asked what she did to finally get all of that to stop she replied, "It was simple. I married her brother."My parents will have their 35th anniversary in two weeks. Of course they haven't lived together or talked to each other in five years. That's for another post someday.
  22. I've had gmail since probably a month after it started. I'm an email packrat, I've got big files and attactments saved. And I write to myself a lot as well, kind of like a journal. I don't think I am even using 2% of my space.I remember back when I first got hotmail and yahoo, there was a tiny amount of space, like 2mb or something.I'd still pick gmail over any of the others even if they only offered one tenth of the space they are offering now. I like the 'labels instead of folders' feature and the layout better than the others.
  23. I was so hooked on it for months that I had to stop. I would have dreams of fishing in those ponds. I could easily get lured back in if I had the money to spare.
  24. Is there a way for you to come up with the 20 dollars? That might be a good way to convince them. There is another way as well- the way we got high speed. I got my mom hooked on playing some yahoo game. lol. She made the desicion to go high spped on her own after using dialup.
  25. I didn't really eat very much of anything, so I am fine. some of the people who ate more are feeling sick, but that could just be because they were around her? I know it sounds awful to be bellyaching about such a thing. But when it comes to cooking for eveyone she is stubborn. I think she's afraid that if someone else cooks her husband might realize that, although she's a much better cook than his mom, she's not the greatest chef in the world. That's horrible, I know. I've got other issues with the girl than just what I've written here Oh, and I went in and carved myself a piece of turkey that was sort of underneath everything and untouched by my turkey carving brother-in-law that never washes his hands. The holidays are the perfect time to get all of the family issues out in the open. lol
