I think that Milk is being very open here. Not many females are as open as you when it comes to this topic. I hope more females can learn to be like you. Lets give Milk a pat on her back.Well, judging from my name, you can(in fact, should know) guess that I am male. Now..my opinions on this topic. I quite agree about what Milk said, about the feminists going 'We want equal rights!'. I believe too that we should work for what we want. Meritocracy comes into a picture. I believe that if a person is really critical in the company, be it male or female, the company would surely want/promote him/her. I don't see much of a gender issue here. It's more of merits, capibility and achievements than being male or female.By the way, Meritocracy is the ruling of a person based on ability and merits.Hope this adds to the discussion.-Shackman

Sad News For Asia Tsunami or Tidal Waves and Earthquake
Shackman replied to ashiezai's topic in General Discussion
The death toll's around 150,000 people now. This is really sad. 150,000 is a lot of people, which many people fail to realise. I really feel for the people affected by the disaster. I hope nothing like that will even happen again. I am wondering, is there any other way to help other than financially and praying? -
Yeah. Age of Empires 2 is one of the best games. I got hooked on Age of Empires 1 and then followed by Age of Empires 2 and the expansion. But after I upgraded to Win XP, I could not play anymore. Is there any fix for this? Please advise.600k people playing at any one time? Are you sure about this? Did you get your figures right? It would be awesome if this were true.-Shackman

I have been using it for a few days already and I think it is rather good. However, it would be better if there is a way to rename the e-mail messages to make it look more neat rather than a jumble of computer lingo. So far so good. I think you should give this program a try. The Gmail drive is very useful, especially if you want to sneak some music into your school.

I sent an e-mail to you already. Check your inbox. Happy Gmailing!

Personally I like the Hotmail user interface better than Gmail's. It looks nice even with many many e-mails. It's eye pleasing. Gmail looks a little ugly with many e-mail inbox in your inbox. Feature wise Gmail wins. You just try it and you will know. But I will still vote for Hotmail because it is more developed as a web mail and is more integrated. Gmail is good but it will still be a long way before Gmail can catch up with MSN. Furthermore, more people use MSN messenger to talk. You can also be alerted of any new mail. For Gmail, I know there is a Gmail desktop notifier. I am using it too. But the only thing it does is to inform you of new mail but it takes up a certain amout of system resources. MSN messenger is more effecient. I am currently using Gmail along with my MSN account. The only reason when I will totally switch to Gmail is when it is more integrated into the web as not just web mail but a communication tool. (E.g MSN Messenger)I'll go for Hotmail. But still, work hard Gmail team. You still rock!

I think it is kind of cool too! I would suggest that Google has a fixed page to list out all these type of mini features. (or is there even one already?)This one helps alot. The google dev team is really active. Now I prefer google to Yahoo... Talking about yahoo, it has been really long since they had some interesting stuff. The most I have seen is the minor re-design i the webpage and the increase in inbox space. Yahoo to should take a leaf from google's book.

This thread was reported to me too. ICU102477 gave me an interesting report. I think it's something worth posting here. Credit goes to ICU102477. I like this kind of spirit. I really hope more Xisto members will come forward to take an extra step to give a hand to those in need. Nice work! -Shackman

How To Say Merry X'mas In ? Language for the Xmas card exchange 04
Shackman replied to H R's topic in General Discussion
In Japanese Katakana it would be:メリークリスマス(meri-kurisumasu)Christmas is around the corner. Merry Christmas to all members of Xisto!Just to clarify:圣(shen) 诞(dan) 节(jie) 快(kuai) 乐(le) 圣诞节 = Christmas快乐 = Happy(merry in this case)Therefore, 圣诞节快乐 literally translates to 'Christmas Happy' or what we know as 'Merry Christmas'.-Shackman -
Yeah....vandalism is bad, don't take it up. You never know what something means to another person. Another form of vandalism is sticking chewing gum all over the place. You know, it really makes you made when you put your hand under the restaurance table and find it stuck to a piece of gum. It's disgusting and unhygenic. For heaven's sake, use the gum wrapper and dispose it in the garbage bins!-Shackman

I would think it's more of a motherboard/hardware and OS/software conflict. Usually these problems can't be solved directly. I would suggest that you upgrade to Windows XP. I think that will solve your problem. Meanwhile, if you don't fancy upgrading, just press the power button when the computer shuts down(before it starts up again).-Shackman

MSN's really slow with the upgrading. Mine is still at 2MB. I hope they can speed up the upgrading. I don't use my Yahoo account much. The main reason why I use MSN is because of the interface and design. MSN's e-mail program looks much prettier.

Windows Xp Update Starts To Weed Out Pirate Keys Look out
Shackman replied to shyam's topic in Science and Technology
I think Microsoft Windows XP is better off as freeware.Anyway, so far, XP has been quite stable for me so I have got no complaints. I'm itching to try out Longhorn when it's released.I think Microsoft's not stupid. It's just closing one eye to the hackers and crackers that's all. Maybe their tracking them now or gathering enough evidence. And someday, get them all arrested in one swoop. When you're opponent is not doing anything....that's the most dangerous move...Mark my words.-Shackman -
Nice test. I got 41 words per minute. Haven't been typing in awhile. You guys are really cool man, typing at 100+wpm. I usually remember the sentences before typing. Do you guys 'type as you read' or something? Any tips?

I think what India is most famous for (in my opinion) is being the birth place for Prince Siddhartha. I heard there are lots of saints and yogis living in India. Is this true? Also heard people saying 'India is the most holy country in the whole world.'. Again, is this true?I guess India is famous(or well-known so to speak) for spirituality. On a side note, I have also heard that there are alot of IT professionals and Indians are the best in It.I have heard alot haven't I? Just want to know if this is true. Anyway, these are just what I have heard, so I don't know if it's true. And yes, I would love to go to India.-Shackman

Nice to see you all warming up nicely to this section. I hope we can fill this section up. It also helps you to stay active, with the recent appeal admin made with his most recent mass e-mail.I can guess it's hard to stay active too. There are many low-quality threads around the forum, which are no better than spam. I hope this section will shine with high-quality articles than everyone can enjoy.Just a gentle reminder, although this section is about Asia, please keep all language used to English. Xisto is an English forum and I don't hope to spoil that with this section.Keep working hard guys!-Shackman

Odomike Services Pls help me review my site
Shackman replied to odomike's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Personally I think sjc did a very good critique. He must have put in alot of effort. This forum lacks these type of reviews that alot of effort and time has been put in. He even offered practical solutions to your problems. odo, trust sjc. Although I don't agree with his use of words and language, alot of what he said does make sense. The only thing I don't agree is: Anyway, usually the most solid advice comes in a harsh way, try not to get angry. Being humble is the key to improvement. -Shackman -
Isn't that being a little sexist? Anyway, no offense. I voted natural thin. I agree that the media has put pressure on people to look good. It becomes like, if you're not good looking(be it pretty or handsome, but I do believe this affects the females more) you are shunned, or are at a disadvantage in anything or even being regarded as an 'alien'. Of course looks count when I look for a GF, but it's not all that matter. Girls must know that men don't only go for good looks, its more character, attitude and moral standards that count. If I were a girl, I would rather spend 2 hours learning to make a new dish to please my dude's tummy than to make a trip down to the beauty palour to doll up and impress him. It's natural for women to want to dress up to, and it may not just necessary just to impress their BFs, they may just want to feel good(and alot of other reasons). But that issue, I'll leave that for another time. -Shackman

Traditions and strong values have been known as a trademark of Asian societies, be it Indians, Malays, Chinese, Japanese and so on. Strong kinship and family ties are just examples other virtues of Asian society. Our sophistcated culture has given us strong roots to what we believe. I saw that the 'Asia' section of the Regional Affairs corner was empty so I thought I would post something to start things off. Something I would like to point out is a very interesting trend I noticed in not just in the Trap 17 forums but in other places too. It is that it is always the Americans and the people from the West that are filling up their sections such as this. And, the Asia section is usually left for cobwebs. Personally I don't think that we are hindered in any means of expression. There is a section created for us and we can use it. I also do not think it's a matter of Asian population in this forum. In my course of duty as a moderator here, I've come to meet many Asians here. Are we not proud of who we are? Now this question is quite poking. It's poking many people out there to give me a smack on my face and say 'Do you even know what you are talking about?'. Before we get to that stage, hear me out. I feel very ashamed when I see that the Western sections are filled up and the Asian sections are left blank or deserted. Very depressing too. I am not ashamed of being an Asian, I am ashamed of Asians not standing up for who we are. But turning the tables around, can the question be changed to: Is there nothing to talk about? or just: I have better things to do! If you notice, this issue works both ways. What do you guys think? Note:This article is not ment to be racialist or offending in any manner. Its just my thoughts. Please don't flame me. Just post what you think. -Shackman
