Why would they want to do something like that? I simply hook up my TV to the computer and use it as a monitor and since my computer is connected to the Internet, I'm achieving the same result. If they plan to have an embedded computer in there, it wouldn't be upgradeable like a simple attached computer. Even if they do introduce Internet-connected televisions, I'd still prefer my TV+computer solution over it as I can access the videos stored in my hard drive and networked external drive too. Mercedes has tried to demonstrate a similar technology last year with 3 cars following each other. However, during the demonstration, the cars failed to stop. The engineers scratched their heads over the accident and concluded that it must be due to the steel in the walls of the basement that caused the system to malfunction. For a fire to start, you need temperature, fuel and oxygen. Since the board is submerged in oil, you don't have enough oxygen to start a fire and so you've got nothing to worry about. If you had water instead of oil, I'd worry about a short circuit and a fire especially if the water contained impurities (it usually does, unless it is distilled). The oil does tend to get hard over time, so you can expect frequent oil changes if the temperature gets too high, or you might need to use engine oil or something similar. Regards, Nitin Reddy

I've seem a couple of flash lights powered by LEDs instead of tungsten filament bulbs. There's even one flash light that has a kind of a crank shaft that has to turned for a while before I get any light so there aren't any batteries in it! It's a pretty neat gadget, but it's priced higher than 5 regular flash lights!!! They seriously need to consider reducing their costs if they want me to buy one of those. Also, think about rechargeable batteries that cost about 12 times as much as the non-rechargeable equivalents - why would anyone want to buy rechargeable batteries at that cost?Regards,Nitin Reddy

Have you installed iTunes on your computer? You need to have iTunes running on your computer to connect your iPod. I know, I know, the other MP3 players emulate a USB flash disk so you can just copy-paste the files across, but the guys at Apple Corporation just had to make life difficult for us all by forcing us to use iTunes. On the positive side, you can also install applications from the App Store using iTunes, so it's not all that bad. Plus there's the synchronization between Apple iTunes and the Apple iPod that you can do to keep copies of all your music.

If you want to download something at 2Mbps, you need to get an Internet connection package of at least 2Mbps. When downloading from a torrent, since the file transfer is peer-to-peer, you have to find a torrent that has sufficient seeders providing the file for download. You also have to ensure that your computer is reachable by other peers by using the port forwarding feature of your router and setting up the same port number in uTorrent. As a final note, I'd like to mention that most speeds listed by the Internet Service Providers are in Megabits per second (Mbps), as opposed to Megabytes per second (MBps). If uTorrent displays your speed as 106kBps, then you probably have at least a 1Mbps connection.

Yeah, McDonalds uses thermal printers and not laser printers. Those are less likely to breakdown since the printers are quite simple, and it's easy for them to get the cashier to change the paper - it saves them the cost of hiring tech support for changing printer toner. The toner of a laser printer costs less than the ink of an inkjet printer because it lasts longer. Besides, the print doesn't come off if you accidentally spill water on it! Color laser printers are quite expensive though, so if you don't print often and you need to print in color, then an inkjet is what you're looking for. If you choose to go with re-fillable inks, you do sometimes get a pretty good deal with an inkjet too. Ink catridges for some Lexmark and Canon printers costs just about as much as a re-fill so you might want to consider those instead of an HP or an Epson printer.

Are you referring to your computer not recognizing some CDs/DVDs or not being able to see the drive at all? For CDs/DVDs, you need to make sure you insert them correctly. With laptop drives, you've got to make sure the CD is properly fitted onto the spindle while for desktop drives, you've got to make sure you've inserted the disc into the center of the tray. Make sure that you clean the disc with a lint-free cloth before inserting it into the drive and store them away from dust when not in use. The drive itself may, at times, need some cleaning if the lens picks up dust. You can use a cotton bud or a soft material to clean it. Avoid using alcohols or cleaning fluids to clean it. Keep your computer up-to-date with the latest drives and patches, and make sure you've got automatic updates enabled. Regards, Nitin Reddy

Ouch! That background burned my retinas and short-circuited some of my grey cells. I tried really hard to read the text, but all I could see was the IE-like warning message on top and the silhouette of a tiger/panther running at the bottom. Web pages such as those are legally required to have a warning for people who could possibly have seizures due to the quick changing colors. The first one could probably be a place for people to post For-Sale notes, or even as a collection of RSS/Atom news feed items. That webmaster certainly does make sure every pixel of the screen estate has been used :-P The second one (clowns.com) is a pretty-looking ad site; the domain registration probably expired since you sent across the link. The third one is bad, but I've seen worse.

Hi!I really like the simplicity of the forum. I've always been a fan of phpBB due to its simplicity and the skin you've given to it is just amazing! The African map and the flags in the header build upon the theme.I've got just a couple of suggestions to make though. The icons that you've used for the forums are too large. Either use smaller icons or increase the size of the table. The footer of the pages is left-aligned and the lines are too far apart. You could compact them and have then centered. The message displayed to guest users is too long; perhaps you can display 2 sentences on separate lines.Regards,Nitin Reddy

Hi! I can tell you that the first thing you are missing is the URL to your forum. You can't get anyone to give you a review if you don't give them the URL! Anyway, here are a few general tips you might want to consider: 1. A typical user visiting a forum usually wants to browse around before joining, so you might want to allow guest users to view existing messages. 2. Make sure you keep spam messages away. They can literally kill a forum, particularly those that exploit forums to insert Javascripts that redirect to another page. 3. Keep it sweet & simple. Hi!I think your blog looks nice, but your homepage could use a bit of work. I like the cityscape image that you have in the header, but that makes the reflection effect of the text look dull. I guess that tends to happen when one part of the page shows a bit too much work but the other sections don't - it just builds up expectations.I also like the way you did the blog footer, but I don't like seeing the Blog categories half way in the middle the page. You might be running on a higher resolution so it might appear right at the bottom of the page for you.BTW, you've got way too many RSS feeds further down on the page. WordPress is better suited for websites that have a news-like format. Before I join a forum, I lurk around for a while reading other posts. The message I get on ITNeed.net when I try to read a message is a: If I didn't know better, I'd think there was a problem on the server, which would make me less likely to join the forum. A successful website is one that stays out of the way of the user and lets him/her get to whatever information is being sought. It's the simplicity that actually makes it seem appealing.

They probably intend to put some sort of security or sandbox in place to keep browser extensions from taking over the system.It's been taking Google quite a while to add new features into Chrome, especially since there are so many open-source components that it can pick up to add to it's inventory.BTW, I was quite surprised to know that Opera has a larger market share than Chrome, especially seeing how much hype is around "Google's Chrome web browser". Firstname: Disturbed Lastname: One Email: xxxx@yahoo.com (your email address here) The reasoning behind this is some spam filters will not filter out email if the sender is in your addressbook. The more messages you keep in your Inbox, the longer GMail will take to load. If you archive your email before it can take up half a page, you'll get better performance out of GMail. Personal problem, public computer! It sounds very catchy, just like Crouching tiger, hidden dragon :-) Anyway, coming back to the point, your password is not saved by GMail, but rather is saved by your browser. I know it can be logical for you to think cookies are the culprit, but modern browsers keep saved passwords separate from cookies and cached files. The reason for this separation is that sometimes you'd just want to clear your disk space and get rid of cookies that track your visits to websites, but you wouldn't want to have to type your passwords to all the websites that you visit. Go to your browser preferences/settings and delete the saved passwords and your password would go *poof*. Regards, Nitin Reddy

Hi! When you attach a ZIP file to an email in GMail, GMail scans the attachment to check for the presence of executable files. Unlike Yahoo, which permits executables and scans the files with an antivirus, GMail takes the more conservative approach of prohibiting executables from being sent entirely. A workaround would be to pack your files into a 7-Zip, RAR or ARJ file and send it across. I'm guessing GMail doesn't read these archive formats yet. Regards, Nitin Reddy

The "best email service" is very subjective because different people have different choices. I personally prefer GMail because the user interface is very light-weight and it starts up quickly (disable the chat for a faster experience). I sometimes use Yahoo because GMail doesn't allow you to send executable files as attachments. I send out my Flash animations as EXEs instead of SWFs since not everybody has an SWF player installed. Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 works perfectly well for me on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3. Perhaps you've got to run Windows Updates. Having automatic updates turned on usually means that your windows will have all the patches and fixes installed, though you might have to reboot more frequently. If you really need lots of space, you ought to try RediffMail - it provides unlimited storage. Sure, they don't have all the fancy bells and whistles of other email services, but it provides all the storage you'd ever need. Personally, I prefer to run GoogleTalk but unfortunately, the Windows client doesn't support video chat. Having something work through the browser by installing an ActiveX control also means that it may not work for everybody. I'd rather have a standalone application with builds available for both Windows and Linux (and one for my buddies running Mac OS X too) I personally like this feature of GMail/GoogleTalk - saving chats lets me go back and search for phone numbers and stuff. I wish Yahoo and other chat services would provide something similar.

GMail does support POP3. Here are the settings that you need to make in your email client: Incoming mail server name: pop.gmail.com Incoming mail server port: 995 Use SSL Outgoing mail server name: smtp.gmail.com Outgoing mail server port: 465/587 Use Authentication Use STARTTLS/TLS/SSL Provide your email address as your username and use your GMail password. You would need to have rights to install software, especially since you'd have to install iTunes. You don't need Windows to run jailbreaking software - if you've got Mac OS X, you've actually got a better platform for iPhone development! Downloading Apps to a jailbroken iPod/iPhone is via App Store-like thingies called Cydia and Installer. Both get the job done, and often you can get the paid apps on the App Store for free via Cydia and Installer. You can add sources to Cydia and Installer, which lets you get more apps but usually the source lists are updated automatically.
