  1. Windows Live, is Microsoft's internet based service. Most of Windows Live was once owned by MSN, but now that MSN is owned by Microsoft, we have seen new labels and new themes for an old service. Windows Live Service is the newest thing by Microsoft. It seems to be very Microsoft Vista at first glance. It has a ribbon-like feel and the theme is gives it a good flow. I'll review today the parts of Live Suite that I've used and are internet-based. Windows Live Mail (Hotmail) Average Rating of 6.7/10 There are the positives to this feature, its abliity to use more than one email, and supports any email under the major providers. Folders are the best part of this service. You can easily organize your documents, emails, and files into seperate folders and save the ones you wish to keep and those to throw out. This is usefull for those who have the same home and work emails. The other feature is the update section, where you see the email that came in that day, so its good for those who check their email daily and don't go through the older ones. The negatives is the lack of searching. I am an avid Gmail user, so instead of organizing my mail, I just search for what I want and I've found a level of rapport with it. With Live Mail, you are forced to look through all your email and find the ones you want, its rather hard to find them, and it doesn't display very well in the confines. Its background and layout, is a peeve of mine when you read your email. Its rather annoying and doesn't allow you to concentrate Windows Live SkyDrive Average Rating 7.5/10 This is one of the best features Live Suite has to offer. It has a quick login, and uses your own live id, instead of making a seperate one they are all linked. The folders helps, to organize once again. The size is large, and you have public folders, and you can link your documents to other people. Its easy for newcomers and much more simpler than Google Docs. There are a couple of downsides, is the fact that you don't have the ability to edit the files, on the go, you need to download and upload, and instead of updating the old one it, uploads as the name with a (2) or a (3) next to it, depending on which it is, so its hard to organize there. The reason I enjoy is the speed of the upload and download, and the fact that I can link it to myself, so I can download it later. Windows Live Search Average Rating 2.3/10 This is a horrible search engine. There are few positives, to this search engine that cannot even be said. The only positive is that well, it has a better look than Google. It often renders most possible searches to sites that have little to do with it, and seems to have a small index, than anything else. I don't even know if someone could even use this site, if they didn't know about Google. It is just plain pointless and useless, and there is a reason why MSN Search dropped, in the first place. The funniest part is that it can't search its own site, at microsoft.com, I find Windows 7 on the first search on Google, and Live Search gives me a link to IE 7. All in all, this is a failure of a search, and I hope no one resorts to this level. Windows Live Messenger *Windows Messenger Review done by pheonixinno, thanks for letting me add it
  2. I would like to clear up that the article doesn't say he didn't charge the poor people. The man had to make money somehow, and he wouldn't be arrested for practicing without a license, if he didn't make money from it. Many people work out of their own homes, and in even the US, they may work out of their own homes, its easier, and the best place for a private practice, to really be private. There are no positives, to what he did. He did illegal work on a poor people, and was most likely paid. If he was licensed in Ecuador, he probably found that he could get more here.
  3. I actually saw that video on your site, its pretty useful, since I wanted to replicate a theme for Joomla! using that, but now that I've seen it, it doesn't seem so hard. I just needed to know how to make the buttons, and you gave me the file ^.^ Less work for me. Thanks and you have a pretty good video capture program. What did you use? I hope to see some more tutorials, how about making a Leopard/Mac theme? Like the metal skin and the buttons?
  4. Try CCleaner, it helped me, and some of the online services. Just Google Search them. I usually solved that by finding where the trojan installed itself by combing the C: Drive and finding it and manually deleting it. AVG is crap, not that its real crap, but it usually doesn't find anything, and a lot of times gives false positives. I would say uninstalling FF, and reinstalling that one or Opera, which usually works, other option is to find an ad-blocker for FF. My IE is still infected, could never find it out where it was, so now I just made it disappear, and tried to end its total access.EDIT: Posted it twice in the same post o.O
  5. I find LinkBucks horrible. The time it takes for the site to load, with so much ads, people are usually skipping your links, and usually the ones who use linkbucks double up on the ad revenue, somehow, but linking it twice or three times, to linkbucks, dunno how they did that though. Its really hard to get those clicks, its not even a click per cent, its like really hard to get those links, and few people enjoy using links on sites, that have no value, especially if they are made to make money.
  6. Can you give me a link to the film-making game? The idea of a text based game, sort of throws me off. Coding isn't necessary for text based games, also, unless well you have only a certain option, that isn't generated from person to person, which kind of throws it off. I would recommend learning a bit of a Flash, and start making into a flash game, could get more views, and flash games aren't too difficult, from what I've heard.
  7. You're taking the opposing viewpoint, which I am not going to shoot down. I half-agree with you but the way you put it is an extremist attitude. A felon who does a major level crime, such as rape, murder, or high-end burglary, should be discriminated. There is a reason why they have past indictments on the application. Its a level eligibility. If you owned a company would you hire someone if they raped another person, less than a year ago, and got out of jail on bail or did their time? You have think about the employer, also if you were purchasing that service, and you have to think about it if it wasn't your family, would you trust them? Their trust had already been compromised, and they failed to stop their actions. Think more in a family oriented view, but I do agree on some points. If you get arrested and convicted for any crime and you apply to law school or a firm, you're unable to. At a level, felons should have some more level of power, but then who's going to fight for them, or any bet, who would accept such an amendment?
  8. I have been to w3Schools, I learned the HTML and CSS there, but I never got much further than that. It wasn't really user-friendly once you got to PHP, since it didn't start with samples, bust just went into the syntax and advanced syntax. I want to see what I can start with before going in too advanced. I will try the manual, hope it helps, anyway was PHP the first thing you learned after the basics, and do you often put your scripts into a single file or seperate it, like instead of embedding as a seperate sheet for easy browsing?
  9. I want to say that I like what you did with the content of the site. If this was a content rating, it would be higher, but I wanted to rate you on the design and the content. For now the content seems okay, but you need more information and especially explain what each line of the code does. I would make it more of a tutorial site, and increase the theme of the front site. Include updates on new code snippets, and make premium scripts and snippets. I believe the best CMS for this site would either be a Blog based on Wordpress, with a nice theme, under the Ianis Glass, it makes it look computer like, and techy, and it has the Windows Vista, style built in. I would also consider a forum, such as esoTalk, or PHPBB3, nothing too heavy but something light, or a chat/shout box so people can communicate instantly. Make the scripts with explanations. To get more viewers, make it a guide to learning a scripting language from the beginning, and then put it on Search Engines, and market in forums, in your signatures. I like the content, very much and I plan to use those CSS Elements. Thanks for showing it off, and hope my rating helps. And even though I am opposed to number ratings, I'll give it to you 7.23/10. You lost a lot of points on design, but make it up with worthwhile content. I hope you continue, and if possible to keep it strictly made by you and Mods on your forum.
  10. The best way is to learn with a teacher, and a class. Then you get the feel of ambition and conquest. That feel helps you try to get better, by competing with your fellow learners. Its rather hard to learn on your own, but its possible to practice on your own. Its simple to think that its easy to learn on your own, because its there is a couple of kicks and punches, but the combination can never truly be reproduced from a book. If you really are determined to learn on your own, start by learning a couple of kicks and punches from a friend and then do them over, and think about the flow. If the flow really does go in a certain direction play on your strengths and go in the same direction. The snap in any kick is important, and that goes for all strokes. The snap determines the force and length. You really need to know one thing that you can't learn from a book is to limit the length appearance. Any attack is less than a second long, and you should pull back to defense right away, or risk being attacked or counterattacked.
  11. Thats pretty good for help, but sometimes its the router itself. I have a Motorola Router and it hasn't worked properly from the day it was opened. Its cheap, and inefficient, and while now Verizon packages their own router, for FIOS, the old DSL people get left behind in the times. I supposedly have a speed up to 5mbs, but I get a max of 49kbs, it has never went over 50, even over the best connections, when I am directly infront of the router. Even my wired connection doesn't work well. The modem may be bad, but I did have a Linksys router for a while, when my Uncle came, but now that he took it back, its slow again. I guess I'm going to try what you did, but thats not always helping me. The best thing to do, though for increasing signals is to get a better router. Its not the DIY sort of thing, but it does seem to work for some people who get the free routers, during Black Friday. Oh and on securing, its best to enable MAC/ Physical Address setting on Routers. This only allow certain Addresses to be accessed by the router, and vice-versa. So only my two computers are allowed on the network. Just get the phsycial address on run, cmd, ipconfig/all and look for the phsyical address of your wireless card on a laptop, and for a desktop, search for the regular MAC Adress.
  12. I have begun web designing with the basics of HTML and then revamped it to XHTML after the teachers in my school brainwashed me into doing everything by frames, and actually using font tags. I learned some basic CSS, and still getting it down, but for now I get it. I need to start learning some development techniques. I was going to begin with JavaScript, but then I wanted to learn a real computer coding language that has a much better scope, and then I discovered PHP. It fit my ideals of an open source project, and I wanted to learn how to use it. Where did you begin learning PHP and become better? I don't really want to get an e-book but I don't mind having one, but I need somewhere to start. Its installed on my computere, with MySQL, using WampServer, so all I need to do get the actual query browser, and the tables. I have PHPmyAdmin, so now I need to begin the actual coding.
  13. Well Notepad supports anything as long as you have the framework. The best I know is actually Microsoft Expression Web 2.0 It is fast and elegant. FrontPage not so much since it just tries to bundle as much as it can into something simple like a HTML Document without seperating it. I would however say Dreamweaver, the newest versions are pretty good now that its with Adobe. It has split page, so you can see the rendering at=time when you put in a php script lets say.
  14. I believe that willpower is Ambition is cleaner words. Ambition has been made out to be back. Will-Power is the drive one has to pursue their goals. That willpower is only determined by length of their ability, over their hardwork. Without some natural ability hard work is pointless and your willpower to do something that is beyond impossible, won't be able to stand up.
  15. For a movie, if you have the money, Sony Vegas is the best, do all the editing, plus subtitle effects, and more. Its not huge either. I don't want to push it but it has served me well making movies for school and for games. For basic subtitles, I really don't think there is anything that is devoted to that.
  16. iPhone 3G is the way to go. I don't wanna be an Apple Supporter, but it is the best, you can do anything you need as a smartphone with some Sociability built right in. The apps though are the best part, especially for people who need more. The other option for a more bare bones phone, is the LG Decoy, because of the built in BlueTooth, though the actual quality isn't amazing I enjoy it alot.
  17. Mine was a simple LG Flip Phone. It had pretty much no features except a camera. It was really basic for the time of the RAZR was just released. I loved the phone though, but it couldn't compete, it was back when Verizon couldn't hold too many good phones. I lost it though so, well I had even worse old phone that my parents first got, when phones were released..........horrible memories.
  18. What exactly is a T.V. Sim Game? If its like an online T.V. Simulation that you make on how to manage a T.V. Station I would actually make into a browser based arcade style game, instead of text-based. Flash Games and Script Based games are often easy to get younger kids to play, but unless its at the Sims or a game like Age of Empires, I don't think it will do too well. Consolidate your ideas and make the site a development site in the beginning. I would want something that lets you compete with other channels as in getting more viewers and subscribers. It also should have a lot to do with money.
  19. I'll give it to you though, Opera is good, if not amazing, its fast and easy to use. The only thing I didn't like about it was the lack of extensions, some things you want, and it doesn't always offer, and I use the userscripts, and greasemonkey a lot, so it didn't stick to me that well. Firefox is just because of the community. Chrome though has the speed. I just can't say that enough. For my old, and current host, there servers don't like FF very much so I use Chrome to render the pages. Chrome though has horrible rendering forms. Its not standards compliant, since I guess it has a different internal style sheet. IE 7 did look sweet when it came out, until I discovered themes on FF.
  20. I'm guessing its for Video Editing. I would recommend for basic use, a program like Windows Movie Maker, or the equivalent of your Operating System, such as iMovie for Mac, or well I don't know for editing in Linux. I don't know how to add subtitles exactly but it seems to be easy enough, just get it from the Microsoft website, and its free if you have Windows and a legal copy of it. If you need more effects, start moving towards Sony Vegas or the Adobe Premiere Elements. Hope I helped.
  21. Its pretty good to do that with simple scripts, and nothing beyond the level of JavaScript. I like the features on the main page. The site doesn't look like it can live up to what it can do, since it doesn't seem very amazingly designed. Scripts like those are hard to implement into older forms, since they made this as a CMS.
  22. I don't mind Quick Kiss and a Hug, but anything more is way too much. I mean its really annoying and it seems out of place. Couples meet out anyway after school and the time inbetween classes at my school is just not enough for anything more. It doesn't seem that bad after school but with all that space that doesn't exist when we're packed into the school its not right, and it just stops others from getting through.
  23. The CS4 Cheat Sheet, Windows Photoshop gives a 404 error, I usually just bug the GFXers on SigResource until they give me a guide or tutorial in the basic commands, or I just add to my knowledge. I don't usually use shortcuts that are often program specific, but the best one I find is CTRL+D to deselect, since the CS4 version is beyond buggy.
  24. I still have an account at x10hosting, so I wouldn't mind installing, just give me a simple guide on how to install it as in the where to give the Database information and other things. I wouldn't mind, since I have most of those browsers' installed. Based on the screencast, I believe it to be it looks like a really simplified version of PHPBB3. Its good for a small forum, such as a support or a small discussion forum that just needs something larger than a shoutbox. Its clean and looks nice with the default template. I would however suggest, that you release with a shoutbox, because something like that needs it. Edit: Installed it, its so painless and easy. I mean you have made the most simple to install forum ever, it took me less than a minute, and it works fine. I'm using it as my back-up and base forum for now. I love this post, thanks man, and I would love to see this expand, and hope it gets better, but I really think that categories are needed and forum sections. This way its a lot of spam, its hard to keep track of threads, and not exactly useful for me, but I can see how someone may use it in the future. For future releases, and to actually get this to be bigger, include the category option, that can be disabled, it looks a lot better in Safari than Firefox, and probably better on a Mac because of its fluidity.
