  1. photoshop does the slicing best. there are ways to make it easier for you within photoshop/imageready. 1) turn on your horizontal and vertical rulers. from the rulers, you can drag out imaginary guides (which will not show up in your final output anyway). 2) turn on snap to > guides. this will ensure your slices do not overlap with each other and create a chaotic layout. 3) have a good picture in your mind where to make the slices. your template layout will determine you ought to slice. then slide out the guides, align them to the point where you want to cut each slice. you can have as many guides as you want. 4) do the slicing. the slices will be numbered and colored so you can easily track them. then just save for web. you may have a better understanding of slicing a design here: https://www.sitepoint.com/design-website-photoshop/
  2. that guy is insane. lolz
  3. nice predicament you have there, chez. photoshop is purely for graphic design purposes. to utilize a design for web use, designers "slice" a template design further. you can slice a graphic image into fragments as big or small as you want it. as slicing is done, designers then "save for web" (meaning the whole template is saved as html along with images). you can then go to edit the html page, and discard the unnecessary images (like the placeholder sections you made), then input/customize your text in your layout the html way. i've never used image-mapping for so long. and i've never been to a site using that other than yours until today. so i'd say, do away with the image-mapping for linking you have. you'll get the hang of it soon enough without them.
  4. affhospot, you may want to try out MyCatalog. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ fairly recent, and simple. last implementation changes have been made to the script just last december 17, 2005. it's free, by the way. and you can fairly customize it to fit your needs, i suppose. it's in PHP. as for commercial scripts, there may be some complications there if you're asking other people's copies to be used on your site. most commercial scripts have a callback function which automatically advises the script seller where the script has been installed and run. and it might be the case also that the script is on a per-domain license only, and if the sellers find out it has been used on a site not listed in their database of licensed users, they will call the attention of your host (in this case, Xisto), and they could have your site closed. i doubt if any established commercial seller would answer your immediate plea for a free copy. you have to bargain with them individually, since they don't necessarily drop by hundreds of thousands of forums (Xisto, being just one of them) to check on requests as yours. yet again, they are in the business of generating sales for their scripts, so don't keep your hopes up on that. but if you are already earning from affiliate programs you're involved with, you may opt to shell out a bit for a more suitable commercial script. i have seen some fairly affordable scripts out there, some under 10-50 dollars. check out hotscripts for "online catalogs". or use MyCatalog, in the meantime.
  5. all possibilities have been exhausted here, so i'm closing this thread. but in your case, freesoul, it's not a technical script bug.
  6. careful what you wish for. there are weird forces in the universe which might just make it happen. on another note, how does one get killed by a champagne cork? choke on it? carelessness (or more specifically, stupidity) when that happens.
  7. those are estimates, and they are not entirely new, especially now that it is already 2006. and those estimates have been floated around the internet as early as 2004, calculations of which have been based on a paper about the Google Cluster. by assumption, as google requirements grow every single day, their hardware equipments would increase... and yet they remain the same by your figures until this time! :Dhardly believable that you were on google grounds and they mouthed these statistics to you, because in the first place, these figures didn't come from them. but if ever you were, and i am proven wrong, then it's my bad.
  8. check also your warning levels. that will give you an idea of what transpired in you losing your credits.
  9. please review Xisto forum rules and TOS. you did read and understand it before agreeing to sign up in the forums, right? having referral links bandied around in posts is not acceptable as per forum rules & TOS. why? it just is. but mostly because money-making offers via referral links are prone to ignite a myriad of posts containing a multitude of referral links, here on Xisto forums and elsewhere. which is tantamount to SPAM. imagine you and your leagues of referrals, each and everyone making the same kind of offer, making a thread of the same offer, the difference of which would just be the referral link -- just to acquire and build a referral base. you get the drift, i would imagine. others are free to PM you for your referral link though, in case they are interested. the merits of your money-making scheme can be discussed freely here however. just not your referral links for the MAIN purpose of simply promoting your referral link.
  10. moving from "Freebie Stuff" to a more appropriate section... (besides, it's not entirely FREE by the looks of it.)
  11. what opera version do you have? can be helpful in troubleshooting, also to determine if it is not a browser issue.
  12. there's your passport to stardom, AlphaMei! sample is a little hissy, but still impressive. i know you can improve on that. human beatboxes are a rarity, and it will take you places if you chart your future right.
  13. plugging my ears, i suppose. too much noise pollution come new years, it just gets crazy with all the fireworks all around. have a safe new year everyone. just bang pots and pans instead of lighting firecrackers if you can. they make as much noise, less expensive, and more safe (just hope your mother will approve of it ). and if you still would want to get taller this coming year, take a silly advise which is part of our tradition: JUMP and JUMP and JUMP and JUMP and JUMP at the strike of the first second of the new year. the higher, the better (or so they say. told you, it was silly )
  14. why don't your uncle #1 (the one opting to buy 2 new PCs) just partner with your uncle #2 (the one with the existing computer business)? it looks like your uncle #1 is always at hand and up to the task of minding your uncle #2's business in the latter's absence (which i assume is the reason why his business is closed sometimes). from a business standpoint, there are disadvantages in the setup involved in your uncle #1's proposal of buying 2 new PCs. 1) your uncle #1 will become a direct competitor of sorts to your uncle #2. it might be good if their locations are far apart, and not on the same vicinity. you don't want them fighting over clients, right? it can happen. 2) simply having 2 PCs, even if does not make a significant dent business-wise on your uncle #2's business, surely will not make it profitable for your uncle #1 since 2 PCs (one as semi-dedicated server - to serve the network of PCs, and as client work PC if needed; and another as a dedicated client work PC) is simply not enough, and would take months to cover the cost if simply used for a cyber cafe (depending on the amount you charge per client; and the total time there actually is a paying client). what i suggest, aside from your two uncles partnering together, is for your uncle #1 to make a business plan. he may want to diversify into other PC-related services, like desktop publishing or web development or another, so as not to directly compete with your uncle #2's existing business. it can even be an add-on service to your uncle #2 to have your uncle #1 offering a non-competing service. if your uncle #1's PCs are vacant for some time, and your uncle #2 has an overflow of customers, well he can have it used as an extension of your uncle #2's cyber cafe area, as originally intended. if your uncle #1 intends to pursue his original plan of buying 2 PCs, you might just as well consult your uncle #2 for suggestions. he might have existing contacts which can supply your uncle #1's minimum requirements of two good, cheap, and new computers. first thing to do is not look far, since your uncle #2 has already an established business, which your uncle #1 would want to adapt. then if your uncle #1 is not satisfied with the prices presented to him by uncle #2's contacts, then that's the time to scout for new quotations from suppliers within your area (where is your uncle located anyway?).
  15. to think that firefox is the "youngest" within the decade to be included in the top 10 BEST products, it's saying a lot! of course, picking the best is arbitrary, and everyone would have their own lists of bests. among those in the list, i only find "meaning" (or "touches my life") with google and firefox every single day. and oh, napster too (but only during its heydays as a free tool for finding mp3s). the sims, although i played it a bit, doesn't have an impact on me (i grew bored of playing it after some time). the others, i just don't have them, so there you go. i don't discount how great they are though, and how i wish i had them when it was in vogue too.
  16. as the cpanel has reverted back to displaying correct disk space availability for each account (i checked mine too ) at this point, we may as well close this thread so as not to give non-Xisto members the impression that we actually have unlimited disk space. :Djust a temporary server glitch, as it turned out. admins/moderators can simply add further comments on this regard even if its closed though, if any further explanation is needed.
  17. that should be more than enough for paid hosting.
  18. you will soon get used to those ads. it's your first post here anyway. these ads pay for the adless free hosting we enjoy in our Xisto.com websites - so it's a good bargain. also, it can't just be placed anywhere, since those ads have got to have maximum exposure, for members to take notice of.
  19. that is because Xisto and Xisto are "sisters" (or "brothers" ) - part of Xisto Corporation.

  21. welcome to Xisto, theplok. enjoy your stay here with us.
  22. here's an active link: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ double-check your links next time before submitting your post, awarkops.
  23. were you able to identify what type of codec you are missing? there are other types of codecs used in audio/video to properly run them. maybe what you are missing are not microsoft codecs. but if they are microsoft codecs, you can pick them out here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
