Photoshop Where do i get it
Reaver replied to Destiny1405241510's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Hey Destiny since the price has been answered for you i will give my 2 cents for the other 2 questions. It is easy to use one you get used to the toolbar tab and the things they can use i must admit getting used to sum of the amazing abilities of sum of the tools is unbelievableThe interface is awesome u can set it to default if you stuff up which i think is the most optimised version of it and i kind of stick to that but you can change it to ur liking and then save that as a workspace which is not a feature you see in programs because its either thier way or the highwayIf you decide to get photoshop Good luck with using it im sure you will have lots of fun.CheersReaver -

Have you tried a repair of windows installation sine it is a problem with the kernal space i would suggest giving that a go instead of trying different methods of patching and editing. All you need to do is have your xp disk on hand and your cd key then run the disk at start up and select not the first repair because this will send you to a console recovery system which wont be suitable, so hit enter to install xp and it will search for previous versions and at that point prompt you to repair and you are all setI Hope this HelpsGood Luck

Dondada there is a few posts here at astahot that i have posted in aswell advising you on the cards and the war between ATI and NVIDIA. Search Xisto and im sure the information will help you with your decision. Also i suggest adding to your requirements not only your price range but the general use you intend for the card and your program preferences would be a good idea to list aswell because a design card can be alot different to a gamers card and for someone who uses video camera editing tools will be in need of svideo inputs/outputs or tv in /out and so on.

This is incredible news, i didnt think the internet could be acievable through any medium besides the phone line or basically air waves for wireless. now that i think about it i can see how this can be possible and especially the speed of 170 mbps is brilliant and i cant wait till i here the news that they have broken throught the electron speed barrier, then i think downloads of about 1 gig would be less than 10 seconds......amazing technology

Hehe the BSOD thats terminal and yes i especially like the "**** happens" comment. Atleast your psp takes the initiative of restarting in 10 seconds instead of disbleing your keyboard and mouse and drop the network and print out numerous error pages that are just useless screen dumps and emit loud tower beeps all at the same time.

Not neccessarily Moody because in todays business world the dvd media is spread far and wide not only for movies and games but for use in direct to dvd cam corder recordings and so on, so both of these new technologies can easily be incorporated into the products we have and maybe even split of into seperate catagories or become rivals for example in the video game industry. But i think that the old negative saying "size does matter" will definitely play a major role in which medium gets more sales, especially if they are both resonalby priced i will be gettting the Blue Ray.

Yes i second that Dondada many people fight over Daemon and Alcohol 10% but for me its D-Tools all the way because of its ease of use ( i even taught my dad how to use it cmon ) and the need for it not to take over the system and put too many options in the right click menu...Definitely awaiting the new release.

Well my experiance with windows has been fairly uneventful in the way of bad things happening to it, even as far back as good ol windows 3.1 which i reckon the most tedious thing was the box sets of floppy disks and yes nortons was the in thing back then aswell and to install that was hell ( approx. 50 floppys). I had a bule screen in the windows ME version that i used but a week later microsoft released a new set of VxD's which made ME run brilliantly unfortunately it was released in the development resources area so the average jo blog had no idea ME could be run properly. I soon switched to windows 2000 and loved the permision system and the introduced idea of the ctrl alt del leading to a "control box". then as claimed by microsoft themselves along came along xp pro with its NT stability and uber pleasing gui, which seems to work fine for me and i havnt had a problem with it yet although i must add that i am running a resource hacked version for gamers which dulls down the amount of desktop resources xp usually outlays. But all in all, Good Job Microsoft.

Now that you have replaced the files for your defrag i would suggst maybe a Windows Repair which cleans your registry and deletes and replaces all the files in your system directory needed just for Windows leaving the other files intact and any 3rd party prgrams you are running which is also usefull to refresh Windows about every 6 months and makes it run smoothly again then i also suggest after that to clear out your restore points by turning it off and then restart and turn it back on again and this will create a new restore point with a clean install and finally since this removal of your defrag is such a mystery to you i suggest scaning your system for virii and spyware.

Haha yea Sarah81 that sounds great Windows Vista SS : SuperStable - The Way of the Future (tag line), and about the 7 versions being introduced i think this is a good idea not only for people who dont need to spend the money on the professional versions if they dont need it and or dont know how to use it but it also helps in the fact that you cant stuff up anything thats not there - for the newbie in us all .....awww thanks microsoft.

So you are saying microsoft have blocked wine installed software from going to the url address of https://www.microsoft.com/de-de and using the search bar to type in : IE 6 redistributable, WMP.x redistributable and downloading them from the links provided and also stopping you from viewing the history of hotfixes for these products and their links....
-
@qwijibow You dont have to pay for your free microsoft products nor have microsoft tired to stop you using another medium such as wine, i think you guys have worked up into a terrible fuss over them and in this fury miss the answer completely and just go on blaming microsoft - you dont even need windows genuine advantage to get the windows media player for example, now i know especially for linux users or any other operatign system for that matter you cant keep on top of every one. So since im in the IT field i will give you an example and you can work on it in future. If i were to install 5 computers brand new and needed to also put the latest edition of windows media player on them all would i waste my bandwidth and time by going to windows update site and doing the validation - No ofcourse not, in the microsoft world they try to make life easier and its called a redistributable file which as the name states can be used over and over again and im sure other os's have this system aswel. So all you need to do it go to the microsoft site and search for the media player 9 redistrbutable file and it will give you a link to it to download the exe. This can be done for almost all windows products and i say almost because for comercial server hotfixes u will need validation for those. So before we go raining on someone elses parade maybe a bit of googling is in order or perhaps post here at Xisto and we windows users would be glad to help as the linux community is glad to help converts.Good LuckReaver

Well all my monitors are LCD and i have four on them, i use the cheaper LCDs for programming and the more expensive one for gaming which by the way has a 4 second refresh rate, and serves its purpose quit well because i certainly at no time during my life want to drag my computer out into the sun so i would say this is null and void as goes for the dead pixel effect which will probably only happen to 1 in a 1000 these days the monitor warranty will definitely cover it and you can get a brand new replacement. So even though LCDs are still expensive you are definitely getting wat you paid for. So if you have decided on spending $500 dollars you will definitely be able to pick up a good LCD with a decent refresh rate for gaming or everyday use and unless you do play in direct sunlight i would say CRT it is, as for the colour loss this is also negligible.

Well to describe this it would be easier to decirbe CPL itself which is Cyberathlete Professional League. An organisation dedicated to make gaming a sport basically what EA has done to football and basketball and so on this is the opposite. Now one of the gaming challenges they have is with Couter Strike and basically a scrpt is run on the server to set it up with specifics that is default to a CPL game. Now i dont know the specifics but they set things like rates and freezetime limit and start money.

Well xboxrulz i will agree that is their advantage but also say that it can become an advantage to those who spend their hard earned money to buy a product that meets the marketing standards, by that i mean it went through research and development and then consumer testing and probably back to R&D, so where do you think microsoft gets the funds to do all of this, by selling their product to people who buy it because they approve of it and it meets their needs. When the product becomes pirated the cycle begins to corrode because microsoft gets less money for their R&D and the original users are waiting for the next release for better products but this cannot be achieved. Another point is that microsoft have even given you the choice for your security as WGA is an activex control you can manage it using internet explorer and choose to run it or not. So microsoft have by no means tied you down to using that method.

Firewalls Anti-virus, Anti-Spyvware and firewalls
Reaver replied to jonassen-tjader's topic in Software
Yes i would recommend Windows XP SP2 Firewall aswell as it not only closes all unneccessary ports and prompts you open them as you need them but it creates a New connection for each type of media you place into your computer for exampl your webcam and T.V. Card which is great because you can then have different levels of security with simplicity to boot, which i why most people stay away from Zone Alarm. -
Yes the most common boot key especially on the Phoenix BIOS systems is the del key (delete) and i would not venture past F1 or F2 as far as the Fx keys go and sometimes in laptops if you hit the esc key (escape) it gives you the list of all the media present at that particular start up to boot from, such as Hard Drive and Removable Media (which can be Floppy or DVD depending on the setup). F8 will only bring up the advanced menu on microsoft systems so im sure that wont be a BIOS key.

Actually the problems are being cleaned by a script and some of the sites have been suspended as they are being worked on, so please be patient as the admins are working on this but that is not saying that it could very well be low credits.

Hey gamerchick39, the principle i would stick by in this case is- why fix something thats not broken, because having free nortons or free ez antivirus puts them in the same league and if ez is doing a fine job at the moment and you havnt been riddled with virri then there would be no point in changing just for one year. another reason i said no is that oce the year is up nortons will start spamming you with all that subscription software they have which really annoys me. So dont change
