  1. Thanks for the info kam. I actually just googled the pdf guide last night and got it for free. You might be right about the heating arrangement. It just shows that you have to install a mini fan on the bulb. Might damage the other components. Hopefully others will put inut on this if they have any experiences, etc.
  2. Some images taken from the site (unretouched they claim) Gladiator First Person Shooter 9Im gusseing Metroid?) LOTR The Matrix The Shining
  3. I thought this would be the best place to post this link that was sent to me http://www.lumenlab.com//?gtnjs=1 I read through some of the forum posts on their site and was really impressed by the quality of some of the images they were producing on their own homemade projectors. For a fraction of what an actual commercial projector costs (upwards of 5000 $ I hear) one can produce their own quality one. I might think of buying the guide from the website. It says on their website that building a descent one costs 400$ with new components and all.
  4. Although Paramount are supporting both formats, blu ray has 6 of the major studios, and I think there will be no way that Sony will develop for HD DVD, so no Spiderman for HD DVD...............The fact that HP is urging the Blu Ray to adopt similar HD DVD technologies seems to me that that they think Blu Ray will win and they want the disc to make as many parties as happy as possible (specifically Microsoft and Intel)
  5. I read somewhere that most of these pictures are fake. I mean if you actually printed those pictures on the skirts, the perspective of the see through picture should not change at different angles. So if you printed a picture that was meant to be looked at from directly behind, the picture shouldnt change perspective if you look at it from a little to the right or left etc.
  6. Thats actually pretty dope. I like the use of cold looking greens.
  7. Guess I gotta upgrade my RAM too. I'll look into that plus the Graphics card you recommended. Thank you so much!
  8. Greetings people! I would like to ask for input from the experienced computer graphics people who post in these forums. Since I really do not know anything about graphics cards, I decided to search online for cards that was specifically geared towards computer aided design. Alas, I came up with cards that cost upwards of 5,000$!!!I'm an undergraduate student planning to major in mechanical engineering and will probably be using programs like solidworks, AutoCAD and a host of other 3D design programs. I really would like to find out about what specific specs to look for and such (some starting links would be helpful). I am also looking for a graphics card that will not break my Wallet! The maximum amount of money I'm willing to spend will probably be around 800-900$, hopefully enough to get a decent card for these programs (mind you that this is not for 3D games, which require a different type of graphics card so I hear). If cheaper cards are found with reasonable performance I would be really happy. Thankyou in advance!
  9. I'm not suprised that they finally showed the video Ipod today. Many people for the past few years have been wildly speculating that Apple would pull this card. Link to the story here: Bloomberg At first I came to believe that watching videos on a display this small would not be worth it. The smallest thing I would have watched anything on was maybe a small laptop. But what got me excited about this Ipod was rumors about buying episodes of your favorite TV shows through Itunes for cheap prices, around 1.99 for each one. Imagine watching the Wire or your favorite Britney Spears music video right at the palm of your on hand! (not that I'm into Britney's music.....) These developments could revolutionize the way videos are distributed the same way as when Itunes revolutionized music distribution.
  10. I dont know about CD-Rs. Given the fact that a new standard of high capacity disks are coming out next year (the blue ray or HD DVDs), I don't see why Lexmark did not instead opt for DVDs instead. I don't even remember the last time I burned something on a CD other than an audio one. Oh yeah this might be off topic, but the last Lexmark printer I got (it was a printer/scanner/copying machine model) was a piece of Junk. The drivers that came did not work with ANY of my 4 computers in the house when printing. I looked online and found that many people had the same problem and Lexmark did nothing to relieve our problems! Way to go Lexmark!
  11. Thank you for all the compliments Hahaha it would be cool to be a comic, graphic, etc. artist, but I don't think I would be cut out for the job due to the fact that I am incredibly lazy. I was into drawing for so many years that it came to the point where I would get easily bored of a work in progress and then abandon it (usually the time consuming projects). Im sure many other artists here have been in that kind of a situation at one time or another. If not well thats good for you. But anyways I plan to slowly get back into it. Im not as good as I used to be but eventually after a little practice I'll be there. Thanks again guys!
  12. I used to be a Dragonball fanatic many many years ago (before it became a trend in the US here). For a time Akira Toriyama's (creator of Dragonball) style of artwork heavily influenced my own. Since I havent drawn anything in years I thought it would be fun to post something from the height of my skill as an amateur artist. As I recall I drew each form of Goku seperately then combined them all in the end. Oh yeah, the alternate design for Super Saiayan 4 (bottom left) was created due to the fact that I hated the design the animators chose in the GT series (It wasnt designed by Toriyama)
  13. Massachusetts last month signed legislation that required all Government to drop the use of Microsoft Office for Openoffice instead. I havent used Openoffice myself so I do not know if it was a wise decision. On the one hand the cost of relearning new software for thousands of Gov employees might cost a pretty penny. But on the other hand the software is cheaper and they do not have to be stuck on proprietary formats (ie you have to use Office to open .doc files. Some other free programs can do this but not as well).I hear that Office 12 will enable users to convert documents into pdf files, which is a so called open format. Maybe they added this feature to combat againt other government institutions from joining the open software bandwagon.
