  1. hee hee... You got to it first before I had chance to reply. I thought I saw the same question elsewhere so I was searching for it. Now that I found it, I am merging this post with the other one. sunkist, for your eyes http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ the official answer. I am moving this post from: General >> Hosted Members Area to: Have your say >> Support and FeedBack >> Questions & Queries
  2. ????[/tab]School is where you learn to discipline yourself. A certain physicist never completed secondary school yet he became to be one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. But he had a gift--he did not stop asking and nothing stopped him from finding the answer. The journey of a life is a constant learning process. If you feel that it's time to go back to school, don't let anything get in your way. Sure, you will be ridiculed even by your closest peers. But, if you give up in the middle of your attempt, it's better not have started in the first place. ????As I was saying before, school not only teaches us knowledge but how to coexist with one another. It's a macro world where you learn to interact with others that are non-family members. It's the place to find out who you are and what you are made out of. And once you establish who you want to become (as a human being) you enter the final stage of learning; the university. [tab]I want you to know, wasi, just because a person has graduated from an educational institution that does not make that person better than you. What it shows is that it took that person a good discipline to hold the ground and fought the good fight. Are you ready for your discipline? I have seen a homeless person recite Shakespeare better than a post-literature graduate. It's never too late! Go for it.
  3. To ask why fewer females in Computer Science and Information Technology field is like asking why fewer males in 16th century French literature course? Don't get me wrong. I am not implying that gender dictates certain dominant field of expertise. However, we were conditioned to think in that fashion. It was the same for your parents, parents before your parents and so on. And I have seen and believe that one gender group is much more jubilee than the other, sitting in front of a computer screen for 8 hours a day. And they are satisfied so. It is not limited to one gender type for a certain field of knowledge but, it seems as though we select what provokes our curiosity the most.
  4. We have a winner. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21787-review-dan-spot-check-drop-your-comment/ Thank you.
  5. Do not create another account to challenge my edits. As of May 4, 2005 TOS changed. You should have read it before posting. For your eyes, http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21354-referal-links-are-prohibited-no-more-do-not-post-them-against-tos/ Do not create multiple accounts!
  6. You are what we (the OG's) used to call, "the free coders." You have all the codes in your head and the fingers cannot just keep up with your mind. LOL. You youngens, write 'em codeboys, write 'em! (spin-off of Ride 'em cowboys).
  7. Whilst I walked to the park(I just have to see where this will go)
  8. If you are referring to Inspiron's code (which is excellent by the way), it's missing () after each called function. As you can see it's perfect if you add () at the end of each called function. Few suggestion I would make is that the small thumbnail images should be on the left hand side with either cell padding or border AND the larger image on the right hand side. I am going to use Inspiron's code. I think I'll modify it so that a function called can have automatic incremental (so I don't have to type 1, 2, 3...it can be unlimited number of pictures and a single if then else would take care of it) nickmealey your coding did not work as requested. Nice coding, however. Keep up the good work!
  9. You had the similar question posted here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21650-network-problems-i-need-some-help/ And suggestions were given under your thread. Don't forget to check your posts after you have made them. You can track your thread/post by clicking on Option at the bottom of the forum post. The possibility of loosing your connection could be that you may be hopping on someon else's router. When you disable your wireless router and still find that you have wireless signal to your computer (system tray) that is a good indication that there's another router that's near by. You can manually set it so that your wireless card only connects to your wireless router/hub. This is found in your user's manual. Further reading at here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21582-trouble-with-my-wifi-hardware-netoworking/ Cheers.
  10. Although I don?t know why you would want your ?precious? (sounding like Shmeagol from The Lord of the Rings) computer to resemble a fruit? I don?t like fruits and vegetables. That?s why I have them dancing. :PThis may not be a tutorial so this may move to another forum section. I wonder if someone can come up with a single package that can do a ?face lift? for Windows? In the past, I have seen masking programs that were designed to emulate just about any other OS platform as a user wished. But in the end, the foundation is still made by Bill and his Gates of underground dwellers. Can you tell I am bitter with Microsoft?
  11. I have read this forum's rule as the exchange of ideas and discoveries. So the form should be as follows:What is nanotechnology? The nanotechnology is...etc. Provide your definite answer following the question format. I think this is more appropriate in The Internet>>Website Discussion forum. Please stick to the forum rules. It's bit gray area so I'll let other pro-mods to decide. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Corrected the proper forum section
  12. Thank you for the clarification. It was excellent until your referral link. We have forum title just for that, but not here.
  13. I see your posts, respectively, two from cse-icons and one from tatatee. But they are not in the traditional light blue box but in light red box. I don't know what that means but other pro-mods will.
  14. *deep long sigh...*If spelling was the only thing that kept this world in its place, I would have destroyed the planet long, long time ago. I cannot recall how many times I pressed F7 button on my keyboard (using MS Word). I've gone though 3 keyboards just to replace the F7 key. I envy you. I am not a poet. I can't even contemplate on being a poet or start thinking about what to write. I am just a chatter box with empty words. Nice imagery! I enjoyed the (what I take) dual imagery--the agony and victory as a soldier of a battle field, and the strife of a "soldier" in this modern world fighting to stay at even with the time. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Ha, ha, I should have pressed that F7 one last time. Checking my spelling as well.
  15. Good question. I think the fact that at some point Americans developed a fear for the number 13. Now, I'm not sure if it is older than that (perhaps from England) but the fear of 13 (tridecaphobia) goes long way. Plus, it's rare to see Fridays with the number 13. So started rumors how it's odd and unwise to do anything on the day that comes so rarely. Some other cultures that I am aware of developed the fear of the number 4. The pronunciation of number 4 resembles the word "death." Another culture is afraid of the number 1. I'm thinking that's why most elevator's first floor button is labeled with "L" instead of "1". LOL. Who knows...
  16. ????[/tab]One of the effective ways of using Photoshop and your scanner is you scan the folded picture in sections. For example, let?s say your tri-folded picture measures 900x400 pixels. And they are folded evenly. Scan the first section (you may over lap on to the second section) about 300x400 pixel. And repeat it twice more. Using your Photoshop software, start with a template of 900x400 and import three scans as three different layers. Using your drag hand and realign them together. If you spot a hard to fix damaged crease, use your cutting tool to eliminate as little as possible. Using your rubbing tool, blend no more than 4 pixels from the original color to the outer edge. This will get rid of your nasty white crease. [tab]If you don?t have to keep the ?text? integrity, get rid of them and replace it with the background color. For example, you have your text on purple pillow, cut the whole text out and blend the background with the grading purple color. When you want to clean up the edges of your picture (because it?s badly damaged) either crop it to get rid of damaged parts or finger blend (no more than 4~5 pixels) from the original color to outer edge. Good luck. (I know this was an old and dusty topic but since recent topics were about Photoshop I thought I?d bring this to an attention)
  17. ????[/tab]At least you didn't waste 3 years of college courses learning about Modula (the old Apple language) and the following year they decided it was C++ that was going to be the "universal" coding language.[tab]Two years thereafter, Java was the IT language that everyone had to know in order to get just your foot into an interview room. I'm telling ya, someone is making whole lotta mula and it ain't me.
  18. How sweet! I like it very much. Although I wonder if the title should have just been, "Hannah"Would you think it was too personal by revealing someone else's last name (even maybe without her permission)? I don't know. But just saying, "Hannah" brings more of mystery and your puppy love for this girl.Excellent.
  19. Okay, I am an ancient programmer so I am giving you something that you would laugh at. I believe creating a batch file would be the best at this point. Since batch file would take the minimum CPU resource. Then you can have your Windows scheduler to activate it every 15 minutes. Save it as whatever.bat in any directory. @echo offclsecho Testing connection to forum... echo.ping https://forums.xisto.com/ -n 20 cls echo Testing connection to mysite... echo.ping www.MYSITE.domain/ -n 20 EXIT Basically, this will open a DOS command window and run its course, then it will EXIT (close the screen). The -n 20 denotes that it will ping 20 times. You can change to whatever number you'd like. Don't forget to replace/add "mysite" with the domain you'd like to ping. For further extensions, type ping /? from your command line. I hope this helps. Cheers.
  20. It has been my concern for the longest time that web site companies were trying to find out your surfing habits. It started with a company called AllAdvantage (back in 1997), now no longer here, issued small browsing helper. You would make $0.05 per advertisement you clicked. I remember I made at least $25.00 per month. Anyway, the point is that they kept track of what I clicked. Especially with the help of AutoSurf program, I was constantly bombarded with promotions/spam email from those clicked links. I learned that if it sounds too good to be true, then there?s a catch. So now that google had its reputation raised, they are executing their final phase. The evil google that will dominate the Whole Web World! Muhahaha. If you recall a character from The Superman, Brainiac wanted to digitize the entire living planet for the sole purpose of collecting data. Well, google is your Brainiac. I know, it?s silly and I am overly paranoid. But why do you think google is so adamant about keeping the entire web community in its database as a snap shot? If you felt that google search is faster and better, it?s because google kept all snap shots in its server and you are seeing the snap shot of googls web crawler. And if it?s managed by google, you cannot say that the data integrity cannot be compromised. You may actually get to see what google wants you to see. The entire WWW will no longer be a genuine content from individual servers. It will be full of snap shots from one server. Would you really want that?Everyone loves google. And I have to ask you do you really know what you are getting into? I bet you everyone is aware of spyware and what it can do. But do you also consider what google may be doing with your browser cache? I never type or go directly to my ?secure sites?, such as my bank or billing online, from google because google tracks where you were coming from and where you are going. What if, according to the article, the one time you enter your login page google happens to take a snap shot of your either password or ID? And that snap shot becomes publicly available and then what? And don?t get me started on Firefox?
  21. In everyone's Xisto directory under cgi-bin, you will see cgiemail. This is a easy built-in form mailer. It's the easiest form mailer without doing any programming and coding. All you need to do is create the template. However, too generate a form for your visitors to fill in, you could use this auto form generator where you can specify the fields and data type. http://phpfmg.sourceforge.net/home.php You can download free form generator and start using it right away. Cheers.
  22. You mean I have to pick a number? Why don't they just fall from the sky? I better enjoy my single years before I have to chase after diaper butts. Having kids is just another way of your parents and the universe's way of getting even for your existence. LOL. Me too! Then entire family tree of my father's side are just two kids. My mother's entire side are three kids. Do you hear the Twilight Zone theme song?
  23. Take two: I'm trying to make this work. Sorry for double posting.
  24. Have you noticed this option tab from your computer? I sure have not. This makes all sense now. If the image does not show up, click here
