Nice Website a new forum ......???
BuffaloHelp replied to vstxyghosts's topic in Websites and Web Designing
LMAO I can't believe this site actually thought about using an old tactic! Webmasters, before learning META tags and even before META tags were available, used hidden key words to promote their websites (so that a search engine can list their website without the listing fee). They would write any and every combination of words and color the font the same color as the background. So, to visitors it's nothing more than a 20 x width pixel space. To a web search engine and its crawlers this site had "content" with a specific value. For example, if you were to type MESOTHELIOMA in the search bar, this site would be one of them showing up (although the site may not even have anything to do with it). LOL. Some web crawlers were prompted to avoid META and KEYWORD tags and actually search for what is written on the page. I guess this is an attempt to promote the site bypassing every obstacle by exploiting the loop holes. It's too bad that the tactic didn't fool anyone when the background (or a table with a background) failed to mask the words. Oh, that's too rich... -
Nice avatar, by the way! Well, although I am new to hosting my own site, I too have my own domain registered. Why not consider Xisto as your main host if your current host is not up to your satisfactory? Xisto has 2 name servers that you can have your DNS point directly. This means you don't have to apply for yoursite.trap17.com, it will be http://ww38.yoursite.com/. And within your cPanel you can assign subdomain and park whichever site you want to have it host. You are limited, however, to 9 subdomains (I'm not clear on this one since I don't use any). You will get all the information you need once you sign up for the hosting ns1.trap17.com ns2.trap17.com are your name server. Access your DNS panel, update and give about 24 hours to cycle. And welcome aboard.

As I get closer and closer to launching my personal website I am looking for the final puzzle piece to link everything together. What I would like to accomplish is a posting board that sends ?new message has been posted, click here <url.link>? each time when I post a new message. This posting board is not necessary open to the public, as it is intended to submit new articles only by internal site managers. I would like this posting board to have online submit form or, if possible, receiving it via email and posting automatically. The posting board would only have less than 8 categories. And of course, the site visitors can access them without issues, which are grouped neatly by said categories. So, my question is blog or forum? As I gather, forum is great for multiple topics. I also understand that I can set the forum so that when a new posting appears, it can send alert messages to the group list. But what about a blog? Blog seems to be easier to maintain. But can it send alerts via email? Can I have 8 different blogs where each blog is dedicated to a topic? And this leads me to the ultimate question: can I send my news as an email and have it post to my board, somehow, automatically? This feature is not a must, but it sure would be nice! When there is more than one category, can anything out there (blog or forum) distinguish which message should go where? Or again, can I have more than one blog at my site? I guess I am looking for full automated posting board. If not, and possibly does not exist, manual cut and paste isn?t so bad.An idea I just had...if I set 8 emails with, i.e. mail1@site.com posts to board_category_1, mail2@site.com posts to board_category_2, etc.? Could this work?

This process is actually similar to how zip software works. It narrows down to the most repeating group sequence and places a numeric value to repeat in a certain order. And then follow the same procedure with the next most repeating group sequence. I have never seen someone actually write that in C, however. Exciting!

Welcome to your first free hosting without the string attached, and your last search for adopting a forum family. I was unsure when I joined this forum but I have soon learned that you cannot judge the forum by its name (HA! I thought that was clever). There?s a history behind the name, TRAP 17, if you search it you will know why. It?s like the ester egg of the forum.I have seen three kinds of people: one who digs, one who plants and one who fills. Which one are you? When you know yourself you will not have any trouble mingling. And this forum will be a cinch! Let?s keep it clean! Remember, everything you needed to know in life, you were taught in your kindergarten class?you share, put back what you have used and don?t forget to take a time out and nap? :lol:Cool Beans!

How about (and before you take this the wrong way, I have never designed a website before) letting the cartoon character's right hand to show? I like the way her head and left hand is extended to the background. And instead of running the menu navigation up and down (vertically), why don't you use the blank bar that is available, right under cartoon characters neck/body, going horizontally? Perhaps you can make it so that it's a drop down submenu as well. Then the body of the page can be either fit to width or run it centered with cell padding on each side. Cool beans!

I would like to add that editing the registry is at individual?s risk. This forum and its members cannot be responsible for what is posted here, should your computer misbehaves by following this tutorial. I urge you to use caution when editing your registry (at least back up your registry before opening up a whole lotta can of worms). Thank you. -
Google Video - Allow Upload?! not search for video but host it??
BuffaloHelp replied to lamode's topic in Search Engines
????[/tab]I started this topic ( http://forums.xisto.com/topic/20774-gmail-as-your-storage-scripts-can-be-found-anywhere-free/ ), at first, thinking that Google probably dont know anything about using the mail account as a large accessible storage. But, what if Google wanted to let that happen? After reading this article found on this thread ( http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21685-google-accelerator-compromises-security-users-report-logging-into-others-cached-accounts/ ) you will find this article ( http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ) to be very interesting. But now that Google may be hosting your video files that can be shared with anyone you choose, is this another way Google expanding their snap shots? I mean you wouldnt believe what kind of stuff that I found (I wasnt looking for them, lol) by going into Yahoo!, search video, and some inappropriate words or titles (again, I wasnt looking for them but it cross referenced each other, i.e.world video mov). You thought your webcam was safe? Well dont look now because someone has the video clip you sent on their hard drive ut oh [tab]Now that Google is testing the video hosting service ( http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21419-google-video-allow-upload-not-search-for-video-but-host-it/ ) should you consider caution when uploading your video? Or support Google in their pursuit of becoming the greatest search engine? Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely Lord Acton. I would think twice about utilizing Google as your video file storage. But then again, I am more paranoid then ever before! -

The file is no longer accessible after 7 days OR 25 times it has been downloaded, whichever comes first. -
My status as an alum at my university gives me the complete access to any MS software related. Therefore I only had the experience with FrontPage. I suppose any HTLM editing will do as long as they are visual based. I like the color coordinated (and customizable) tags so I know that I won?t face any pars error or unclosed open tags. Ya know?

What I meant was some people post just complains to write and gain credits. Again, your complaint was legitimate but if you were to post "I don't know why my credit is negative" the next time, that's nothing but spamming to earn hosting credits. What I'm saying is there are an actual vent and an empty vent. I don't know how else I can explain it but if you read some of the postings that users have written in the past (and they are veterans) they act as though they have no idea what caused the negative credits. I'm just trying to protect you guys from receiving warning or negative reputation. Don't kill the messenger...

Perhaps one of your posts was reviewed by admin or mods and felt that it should be deleted. Keep up with your postings but don't make a habit of posting complaints and earning your credits.

BuffaloHelp replied to dodgerblue's topic in General Discussion
(raising the hand really high trying to get the attention)umm..umm...excuse me. Can I be a member? Ooo Ooo can I? Can I? -
As far as I can tell, AND are copied from this site http://rfc2672.x42.com/ You did not properly disclose the reference site and did not use quotes. You should know better by now. I am giving you a warning! And this is closed since this is nothing more than spamming considered to gain hosting credits. Do you even know what you are copying? There is no beginning and no end.

Don't Know Where To Put This...so I'll Put It Here.
BuffaloHelp replied to Peaktao's topic in Web Hosting Support
I am new as a mod, but NO POST COUNT means the post made to that section will not be counted towards your hosting credit. However, the number of posts will reflect accordingly. The blue bar under your name is the level you are in proportion to number of postings you have made. I tried to find the exact answer but I wasn't able to find it. I'll post it again when I do find it. But for now, it's something like this: 1~30 posts = level 1 31~50 posts = level 2 etc... I will either give you the link or correct this listing As you gain your level, the amount of earned hosting credit is harder and harder. This encourages everyone, especially veteran members, to contribute more than just, "dude that was cool!" one liner. For example, when you were at level 1 a post of one paragraph would have earned you 7 hosting credits. At level 2, it may only earn 3 credits, and so on. Whoever came up with this calculation was genius! -
Isn't that what memory cards are for? I noticed that this is your second time going against the forum rules. Since both postings were unnoticed by mods, I am letting both go with a warning (your warning level will be increased by 10%). Do not ask how to do things illegally. If you feel that it should be legal, contact Xbox support team and ask. Topic closed.
-
I thought the rules were do not ask for how to copy (illegal) your games, warez serial, crack, hack, post illegal materials and such. I am closing this forum and do not ask for it again. Although you are legally allowed to back-up your own personal purchase, but if that was the case, contact the manufacturer for the correct method.

Windows media encoder 9 series is free. If you are going to use Windows Media Player as your base, I think you'll find this encoder to be excellent. The compression ratio is almost as good as Divx except without that annoying Divx logo now-a-days. And, you can put sounds in [][]Dolby 5.1 setting as well. Very easy to navigate software. WOW eh? For your eyes, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I forgot to mention that TMPGEnc is also free where just about any type of video format can be converted to MPEG-1 at any setting. Here is the link http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I am moving this thread from CONTRIBUTE >> Technology to CONTRIBUTE >> Computers >> Software

I thought the rules were that don't ask for pirating how-to's, post illegal materials and do not plagiarize. I am closing this post for now unless other pro-mods decide otherwise.

????[/tab]I don't have blog. I never understood the concept of blog or the fascination of it. That was until tonight. I realized while I was driving home, I thought of ways to organize my thoughts here in this forum. And since this forum will stay on forever (now I am starting to see the light) my words will forever be preserved. And that's when it hit me. This very reason of preserving spontaneous spark of one's wisdom is what blog is all about. [tab]I truly felt that blog writers were self-absorbed pompous egomaniac who wanted the entire World Wide Web communities to come and awe at the site and writing skills. I was wrong. It is fascinating now that I understand why people would choose to write blogs. What does blog stand for, anyway? Is it an acronym of blabbing log?

I have Excel 2002 (10.4109.3501) SP-1 with IE 6.0.2800 and it does not work. But to clarify your statement, is the COLUMN WC and ROW 2000 where WC2000 is the very first cell that should be positioned? When I follow your direction I only get a new window "Web Components" Darn, why did I have to upgrade my version?

TRAVEL whereve you been? do you want to go?
BuffaloHelp replied to bob's topic in General Discussion
Domestically, I have never been to Washington State, Utah, Iowa, and New Mexico. So this summer, I am driving from New York to Seattle, WA, and end up in Nevada via the coast line. I'll be sleeping under the stars and driving 12 hours a day. I am going to document my journey.Internationally, I have been to few countries. I was going through a depressing moment in my life and I decided to sell everything and went on a back-packing. I spent 4 weeks in London, UK thru Dover. Took the boat (it was like 6 hour float) to Dover where I caught the train to Paris. After 2 weeks during Tour de France, I biked and flew to Madrid, Spain. Got bored and drove to Barcelona (excellent place). I had food poisoning so I had to fly back to Toronto, ON. After this life changing experience, I was a wannabie globetrotter. I spent 3 weeks doing nothing but catching some rays in Dominican Republic (the best non-Cuban cigars you can ever have). A year after that bunch of my high school friends and I headed down to Cancun, Mexico where we almost drowned due to a strong undertow (mentioned on my other post). The year after that we all vacationed at Jamaica, where if you're not stoned you're not their own-a Jamaican motto Last year we booked the entire lower floor of a cruise ship and had the blast! I would seriously recommend a cruise tour if you are low on money but love to eat! Japan was beautiful yet so expensive. Singapore was humid during my visit but best price for 5 star hotels! Singapore was THE place to be since I was able to speak English and they all understood me. Japan was just a translation book after another... I was born in Korea so naturally Korea is almost definitely a yearly thing. And at the end of this year or beginning of next, I?ll be touring from Germany to Hungary. It is my strong recommendation that you, at some point in your life, travel abroad. It will open your eyes and open your mind! It's incredible how narrow minded one can get for staying in one place. -
Lyrics - Wish You Were Here SO Sad Made Me Wanna Cry
BuffaloHelp replied to dodgerblue's topic in Art & Creativity
Oh man, my heart just sank as I was listening to this song when it got to where the quote starts. Holy cow...but somehow she got a post card... The Country Songs are very dynamic when it comes to describing something so complex into something so simple. This lyric captures the flood of her emotion and agony for the loss of her loved one. I recall somehow back to September 11th. I thought I had a tear jerking song, I'm Already There by Lonestar. Thank you, I now have another great song added to my collection.
