What You Think Of My Localhost Site?
fffanatics replied to arcticsnpr's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It looks good but the banner at the top does not span the width of the screen which is different than the bottom banner since it does. Also, the space on the left looks plain since the text is indented i think there should be a navigation table there so that you can traverse the site easier etc plus it will fill the empty space. -
Nvidia Unwraps 64x Sli Monster Gpu Rig
fffanatics replied to nations's topic in Science and Technology
Very interesting. If they only were cheaper and such i would probably try them out and see if i could get them to work with some games since the graphics would be insainely quick using it. -
Like all technologies it has a place in our society. How large of a place depends on the depend and usefulness. I think this could be very interesting to fool around with and very profitable for the tourism and realistate industry. The only question i have about it is how detailed and exact it can make the 2d images into 3d ones.

No you do not need to know html or java to make a webpage. Just look at all those myspaces and no one on there really knows what they are doing. You can use programs like dreamweaver, front page, etc. to design a site without any coding ability or you can use an online template and just add the content where they tell you. It isnt hard but it may take time to find the software that you like the best and you think is the easiest

I have been using suse 9.3 for over a year now as my second os and i love it and prefer suse over fedora any day but it depends on your taste. Also, i just got my Ubuntu CDs and will be running Ubuntu using their live cd to see if i like it better than suse. Finally, for anything where a live cd is needed such as recovering windows from a virus, etc. knoppix is the way to go. It has saved me and my roommates soooo many files its unbelievable. Plus, when i travel and need to use linux i dont have to bring my external with me, just a cd

Very interesting but depending on how hard you have to hit the laptop for it to pick up a response, the knocks still could be detromental to the rest of the computer. Just because you wont damage the harddrive you could mess up your video card, rom, or even the processor since they are positioned so close to each other inside the case. Good idea but i dont think it is going to be very useful.

Its pretty wierd to think that 5 meg used to be a lot of memory and that a normal size harddrive only would have been a few bytes back then. The other wierd thing is to imagine what another 50 years is going to do and how small everything will be then. Who knows, holographic storage? 3d monitors, etc.

The best multiplayer game ever has to be goldeneye for the n64. Besides spending countless hours playing with everyone i know when it first came out, i still tend to be all the time for kicks and giggles with new friends who have the same love for the game as i do. It revolutionized the first person shooter and since then, it has been copied and copied over and over again.

Is Creating A Real Website A Very Difficult Job? Need Help!
fffanatics replied to iGuest's topic in Web Hosting Support
My advice is to go out and buy a book on html. I got mine like 5 years ago for $19.99 at the local bookstore and just started reading the chapters and after each one i used the new material on my website. This way, i didnt just read how to do it but i learned how to actually implement it and as i got farther in the book, i didnt have to use as many of the references on how to do things. Plus, using this forum, you can start a webpage and then if you dont know how to do something or it is showing up wrong and you dont know what is wrong with it, just post the code in code tags in a new topic describing the problem and one of the many of us will help you out with it. Atleast you are learning how to do it yourself. -
I Find A Good Antivirus Complete Suit.
fffanatics replied to gpinvest's topic in Security issues & Exploits
For spyware, use windows defender (beta 2). Even though it is in beta it is the best and is free. Most of you are probably, its microsoft it cant be good and secure but it is. The reason is that they bought the software from what used to be the best free spyware, adware protection company (i forget there name atm). It is what we recommend at work. Also, very easy to use and updates itself through windows update daily. -
I am using avast antivirus home edition and just windows firewall. My router has a very good firewall built in and avast is free and has yet to fail me nor anyone at work and i work in IT and it is what we recommend. It take very few resources and does a wonderful job.

Yeah there is no way this will make your speed 500x faster. Like others have said, it might reduce the time by maybe 5x max if that. If you are interested in speed up your connection and download speeds first us TCPOptimizer (just like someone else said) and then read PCStats's guide titled "99 Performance Tips" and go to the internet section and tweak the registry like it states. This got me from 400 kb/s on my comcast cable 6 mbps connection to being able to download files at 1 mb/s since the tweaks increase the max number of connections your browser is allowed to use at once. I would not recommend using this with dialup since i might be overkill and actually slow your connection but it works wonders on broadband.

Dont use mcaffee because it is bad, takes lots of resources, and just isnt very complete. The best antivirus program out there current is avast antivirus. The home edition is free and takes very few resources and doesnt slow down your computer. We use it at work for everyone's home pcs and no one has yet to have any problems. Hope this helps

Ati X Nvidia Graphics Card. What Is Better?
fffanatics replied to gpinvest's topic in Computer Gaming
For hardcore games, i would recommend using nvidia cards sicne they tend to have more power in them and with sli they can perform very well under any circumstance. For movies and casual gamming i would recomment ati. They tend to be better for the lower class things and they also are the best for tv encoding and such. -
Working/ Not Working Programs Of Windows Vista
fffanatics replied to techfreakorama's topic in Operating Systems
Well i know trillian pro v3.1 works for vista and thats all i really have had time to fool with. Ill let you all know anything else i try out. -
OK as a programmer of all sorts and not just web development, i used to use notepad and then went to coffee cup because i liked the text coloring, etc. Then i started using dreamweaver because it made life a lot easier for some of the development but it still wasnt anything that special plus it isnt cheap. So, i decided to try one last thing. As a developer i have used the eclipse project for java and c++ development and its a great ide. So one day i was looking through open source projects for it and i stumbled on a html/php plugin for it and tried it. It rocks. It not only finishes the closing tags for you, but it also validates, debugs, etc. all of your code and tells you where you have issues in a much better fashion than dreamweaver. Whats even better is that it is free.So i use eclipse when i am windows. However, if i am currently in linux, i also use eclipse but if it is just for something small and easy, the basic xemacs text editor (way better than notepad) makes life easy for the small things.

Alright, we all know that the average person will not invest in Vista until they buy a new pc in a year or two. However, for those who just purchased a new pc or have one that is capable of running vista then we will probably buy vista within a year of its release. Like most windows os, i probably wont buy it until it is around 1 year old so that all the bugs are worked out. Finally, they will make their most money the first year or so off of vendors who will automatically install it on new pcs

Crunchy Or Smooth The ultimate peanutbutter poll
fffanatics replied to flamette's topic in General Discussion
Ewww why would you ever what crunchy peanut butter. Who likes to chew it when you just can lick it? I just never thought it was appealing to chew peanut butter. Smooth is the way to go -
Nice those parts look great. The only thing is that in a few years the video input will be outdated since eventually everything will be going digital however for now it will be nice.

Basically, you are getting this error because $navlinks['level'] = 0 since subtracting 1 creates a negative number. Try displaying $navlinks['level'] prior to your condition so that you know its value because this will help in debugging the error. If that isnt it, then i dont know what the problem could be.

It sounds like a scam to me. Since when does google give $500 away at random. You probably just verified that your email account exists and now will recieve even more spam. It is very easy to use other people's email addresses in the from line of an email.
