How do I get my LAN icon to show up in the notification area in Windows 7?Net Connection Taskbar Icon DisappearedSince installation Windows 7 RC, I've never had the option to choose to have the LAN icon in the notification area. There is no selection in any of the areas for network devices to select this. I know in the past versions of Windows, I would check this in the properties of my network adapter but it isn't there. Also, my notification area is configured to always show all icons all of the time.

Norton Anti-Virus Slows PC PerformanceMy experience with Norton 2009Norton 2009 just installed 3 days ago. My computer is virus-free - installed Norton on advice from a friend. My computer is totally unusable. Slow? Norton has taken over my machine COMPLETELY. What the hell were they thinking when they created this stupid product? It is a freaking nightmare to install and now this? No support at all - well, actually it is worse than no support - they have BAD support from people who had me uninstalling dot net framework versions just so I could get this product to install. What this means is that it can't reconcile the differences between the long file name and short:"This behavior can occur if the NTFS volumes' Master File Table (MFT) is corrupted. The short and long file name pairs that are stored in the directory index record and the file names that are stored in the associated File Record Segment (FRS) contain case-sensitive characters that do not match.NTFS supports case-sensitive (POSIX) file names, but Chkdsk does not check file names in case-sensitive mode.For example, assume that the directory index record has a BADFILe.TXT entry but the FRS has a BADFILE.TXT entry for the file name. NTFS views this as being invalid or corrupted, but Chkdsk compares only the names and ignores the case. My Thoughts...3 Balanced Elements Of Life : Health - Wealth - Family (relationships)I am at a point of my life where I am currently searching for specific areas in life I could focus on, to be more successful. Indeed the balance of Health, Wealth, and Relationships, is ideal. And 'truefusion' above has some really great points... However based on the research I've done so far, these 3 aren't enough. For example in 'Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs' the very top of the pyramid, Self-Actualization, doesn't fit in at all... And you must admit this is a very important need for human beings. This need separates us from all other creatures. If you balance the 3, it is likely that it'll give you a very comfortable life. However, wouldn't that make your life very average, very mediocre!?! ...Hmmm... Maybe I'm wrong... But then maybe not... What can you say to people that strives to break out of mediocrity, wanting to live a more exciting, thrilling life!?! Also, we know that people are very ambitious... Most are... They want to achieve something extraordinary in their lives. Most of people's goals are to be very very rich! Now, I can understand that if you have goals, whatever it maybe, you have to try your best to keep the balance... but sometimes you have to distort the balance in order to acheive your goals... Hopefully distort the balance for a short amount of time only... So the question is this, if you end up in that position, would you choose to 'balance the 3' or 'your goal'!?! Which leads to another question... Which is more fulfilling... 'balancing the 3'?... Or 'achieving your goal'!?! Well, these are my thoughts... So you're using Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope, this OS should detect it as a USB Modem, so I will just give general instructions to try to get it working (however I haven't upgraded to Jaunty yet, so my instructions maybe 8.10 specific and not 9.04). If this doesn't help, then I may have to tell you to post the output of some commands that will help me diagnose the problems even further, and I may have to install Jaunty as a Virtual OS, since I'm not needing to upgrade yet. Plug it in then goto System | Preference | Network Configuration. This should bring up a Network Connections dialog box. Click on the Mobile Broadband tab, then click Add. Follow the wizard, select your country, provider and name what you would like the connection to be called. After it's created you should see the name in your Mobile Broadband tab, select it, then click on edit. First try the Phone Number as *99# and both your Username and Password should be your phone number (10 digits?) if that doesn't work try the Phone Number as #777. Hopefully you should be able to choose your connection now. If it's not working yet, you may also need to do sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf Let me know how this goes, any errors or problems please copy them and post them back in here. Cheers, MC

Need to Reload/Refresh page after a Back is done, keeping prev data entered on that pageRefresh Page After Back Button HitTrying to add a captcha to a website. I am using code that I found on line, and it has to work. When the user enters a code, the htm code calls a php file that checks validity. If invalid, I have a message and sent the user back to the form/htm page and their previously entered data still displays - as well as the old invalid code they entered AND the old displayed captcha image. At this point, the actual captcha code and the displayed captcha code are out of synch. Using the related reload link for the captcha image takes care of the problem, as does a refresh - the code and displayed code will match, the users previous data is still available, and the user just has to change the code that was previously entered as the codes have changed. Failure to refresh/reload the captcha image or the page will create a mismatch again. Need to know how to solve this: 1.) Need to have the page refresh after doing back - this resolves the problem w/o the user having to do anything. 2.) Another way to handle this which is even better - How does one go about submitting the users data for check, and having the original forms page display an error message, clear out the user entered invalid code, and refresh the displayed captcha code? This way, the user is still on the same form page, their data is still present, they get a message indicating that the codes didnt match, and new codes are available for another try... Neophyte in the coding, but understand the algorithms/logic and behind it. Just need to the code, etc. Currently, I am pulling back a cached form/htm page with data, that apparently kicks off a new code, leaves the users input available (which is good), but the captcha displayed code is not refreshed, and that is the big issue with the current set up. (clearning out the user entered code too would be nice). Have tried using what I have found here in the forums, but various caching code doesnt seem to take care of it. Putting in a refresh/reload into the htm code doesn't get run (in my thoughts), since one is doing a BACK in the browser and so this is cached, and actually doing a redirect to the calling forms/htm page will reset everything the user entered - and everyone knows how much that could be hated. This is a good idea of course, but it must absolutely neutral language. And probably a better idea would make this universal language a must to learn (as a second language to your native language) in all of the countries. This language should be created artificially by all nations (I.E. All the cultures should be participating in creation of such language, for instance by providing linguists or other scientists etc.), and then implemented in all the countries. The language at first should be easy to learn, has no exceptions and should be good for using with computers. Once language is implemented globally, I.E. Once it become alive...Then exceptions, slang etc. Could appear, and since we now live in a global world, it won't diverge int many languages.

You can try not to hot link other people stuff to your site because then it will need to make a new connection for it. And might increase your loading time. you need to do this to get good SEO results
