piano jazzPiano Jazz?Hi, just responding to your suggestion in the previous post, you said basically to play Ionian and/or Lydian mode over a maj 7th chord, should the 4th degree of the Ionian mode be raised and is that the Lydian you are referring to? I recently started reading the Jazz Piano Book and finding modes and scales very challenging. Does it all come down to ear? or do I need to know these scales, I'm willing to learn them but want to know how to use them

Problem solved - faulty DVD BurnerPC Fan Spins For One Second And Stops - No Bootupwutske's suggestion worked for me. I had the same problem. CPU Fan cuts out after about 1 second. I had a second similar specifications computer that I could swap parts with. Changed PSU - still same problem Changed CPU - still same problem Changed CPU & CPU Heatsink/Fan combo - still same problem Swapped CMOS batteries - still same problem OK, I unplugged all hardware - HDD, FDD, DVD Burner - power remains on regardless of CPU/Heatsink Combo. Yay! Further plugging and unplugging isolated the DVD Burner. If it is plugged in, the PSU crackles. And cuts power. Replaced the DVD Burner -Problem solved. -reply by engellion

A few possible answersBlood Type GeneticsThe possibility that I will contribute is the idea of a rare mutation. Mutations happen all the time when a child is produced, and there is a chance that one of those mutations could possibly have affected your blood type. Specifically, if your father is type O, then you would only need one recessive O allele from your mother to get your blood type. If she, as AB, were going to pass on an allele there is a 50% chance that it would be an A allele. The importance of that is that there is actually only 1 base pair difference in the DNA segment that makes up the allele when A is compared to O. Mutations are sure to occur, the only thing that makes this specific mutation unlikely is that the chances that a mutation would randomly occure at that specific base pair are very small. Still, Something's going mutate, some base pairs are going to switch. With so many people on this earth, even something with a very very small percent chance will most probably occur, possibly more than one would think. Who's to say that you're not that one in a million chance that mutates the A into an O? Other than that, there is the possibility of incomplete penetrance of your blood type. I have not heard that blood types have anything less than complete penetrance, but I am not an expert on that. Penetance describes the relationship in a population between a genotype and the phenotype is usually represents. In this case, there may be a possibility that you have a type AO or BO blood, but do not exhibit the A or B antigens that are the mark of that blood type. On the individual rather than population scale, it is possible that you personally have a very very low expressivity of a blood type that is actually not OO. For a quick basic review of blood type, blood type is determined by the antigens present on the surface of the blood cell. Type A blood cells have A antigens on their surface, type B cells have B antigens, AB blood has both, and O is determined by a lack of any antigens at all. Expressivity is the degree that a given genotype is expressed as a phenotype in a single individual. It could be that you have a very very low expressivity for an A or B type blood. If that were the case, perhaps you do have A or B antigens, but you produce so few of them that they were simply not picked up in the test. This information comes from applying the principals learned in a college level genetics class applied to basic biological principals. (High school level, I hope. If not, then I will try to come back and explain properly, but I hope it was all understandable with only a high school level biology backing.) EvolutionBest Email Client For GmailI have been using Evolution for a few years now with two gmail accounts. One for personal and one for business. I haven't had anything bad to say about it ever. I know a lot of people use Thunderbird. I have thought about giving Thunderbird a try to see how it compares to Evolution; however, I guess I'm just that happy with Evolution. I used to use Outook back in my Microsoft days, but they are long over. Evolutions address book seems to sync well with my gmail address books as well. Accidentally installed wrong languageHow To Change Windows Xp Language ?Hi - I recently bought an Acer Aspire which automatically begins the installation of XP Home Edition when you turn it on. When prompted to chose the language, I chose what I thought was the Canadian version of English (yes - that is different from US) but it installed in French instead. Changing regional settings does not work. I was told the only way to change this is to buy another version of XP. So, I got a new Windows xp Home Edition which I was going to use to reinstall. The computer won't let me. As soon as the installation starts, the system stops and tells me (in French) that I already have that version installed - argh!.So, how do I have a new installation of XP override the current XP blocking it?-reply by Hamish
