It's Chase Banks policy to process larger debit transactions before smaller ones. They claim they do this for the consumers benefit but the real reason is because if a larger item does not clear they can only charge you for one over draft fee of $35. So clearing larger items first increases the chances on several smaller items not to clear thus enabling them to charge multiple $35 fees making more profit for themselves. This policy was developed after case studies of how people do banking on the average. Most people have one or two large items each month ie. Car payment, rent, etc. Chase process these first and anything coming in after that will be assessed a fee if there isn't enough money in the account. I was once charged $35 dollars for a $1 transaction. And to the person who commented before me telling that person it was THEIR fault. Sometimes people overdraft their accounts, it doesn't make them stupid, or irresponsible. Yes you can get a laptop, as has been said over fifty freakin times in the thread. The joy is actually building a computer for car entertainment, where a laptop couldn't really supply neither a PDA. What version of Fedora are we talking about?I use to be a heavy Fedora advocate, but due to the way they headed, I jumped onto another distribution, but I think they too are planning the same thing.Usually all distributions have an update feature, that would check for updates.But unless you told it to update for you automatically (usually in the installation), it would download updates for you as specified, otherwise it would just notify you of updates. I think you would be using PackageKit, and you should have the ability to stop it from checking and downloading updates. If memory serves me right, Look in Systems | System Settings | Add/Remove Software | Settings then change Check for Software, Auto Install and Notify. If you prefer manually running updates, and wouldn't use packagekit, then get rid of it and use something like yum to upgrade, or if you do want a front end but one that isn't persistent then try yumex.Cheers,MC

If you could suggest something that makes this type of connection insecure then do so and I might be able to elaborate more on it, but for me, this is just the normal security concerns that you'd face with any network.This type of connection is just a p2p (peer to peer) network connection and is no safer or secure as serial, parallel or ethernet crossover connection from 2 local connected computers.The type of usb cable needed has a small bridge circuit/chip in the middle, which means no ordinary USB A to A cable would work as you need the bridge circuit to handle communications between the two PCs as well as preventing it from burning your USB ports, as the ports send voltage through it. I think it's just called a USB bridged cable or you could just say USB networking cable, hopefully most would understand that. Should also mention that if it's USB2.0 for both PCs and the bridged cable, then you could expect 480Mbps, however price wise, it's probably cheaper to buy 2x 1Gbps network cards if you don't have them already and a CAT6 crossover network cable. It's also probably the more flexible option if your network expands.So to answer all your questions, it's as safe as you can make your PCs out to be in any network environment and it's possible with the correct USB bridged cable.Cheers,MC

disabling hardware acceleration works!Online Films Freeze In Full Screen ModeI just built a new computer, nice specs and all that. The motherboard has a Radeon HD4200 onboard, which is much better than my last computer's expansion video card. Maybe the onboard video is the cause of any Flash video locking up in full screen after a few seconds. The audio would continue playing. Even on Hulu, where I assume the commercials and show segments are separate files, sometimes it would hang on a commercial frame and the audio would continue on as if I was listening to the radio. How to change Windows 7 boot timeout from LinuxUbuntu-windows Dual Boot: Changing Os Name In Boot-up MenuI did a stupid thing: I have Windows 7 and Linux Ubuntu installed on a laptop with a dual-boot menu from Windows 7. And after awhile I wanted the menu to wait for my keyboard action on boot and so I stupily set the timeout in Windows to "0" and achieved the absolute opposite from what I wanted, namely: Now the boot seqpuence almost ignores the menu and only Linux can be started. Since the zero-option does workthis way, it seems to me absolutely ridiculous from Microsoft to have this zero or 0 option placed there because they should have known that this option more or less deletes at least 1 item in the menu.
