Best browser, the one you dream about but can never get.Internet Explorer, quite a poor browser, Maybe use Maxathon over it (just modifications built ontop of IE) and it'd slightly be better, but still comes with all those IE problems with spyware/adware/tracking cookies etc.Firefox is a good browser (quite close to the dreams), is technology focused and has made a huge impact with rising in popularity. The additions of adding extensions also helps.Opera, quite good, does somethings better and somethings worse, but it probably outweighs IE.There's a few more browsers out there, Safari, Konqueror, etc that have good and bads things about them, Safari probably being the better on out of the others, while the rest fall back in some areas. In the long run, Firefox is going to shine I believe, so it's the browser I'd stick with, but for web development, you need most browsers for testing.Cheers,MC

It's not a WINE problem, it's a problem with X Server and possibly User Authentification.Just a side note, make sure hostname is set too. (didn't see it in the bash line)Now depending on how you started X, which user was it? Do you correctly revert back to previous users, e.g. if you su to root, then su to your user, that is not correct, you should exit from root which takes you back to your user. That may solve the problem. If not, you could try xhost, I suggest doing man xhost for more information on using this command.Cheers,MC

my mom was a programmer in a company who's code was messy. so in that experience, the holes are accidental, but can mess with security settings, or other things INDIRECTLY. Most major companies don't on purposely damage your system. It's by accident, or laziness. adobe isnt malicious. law enforcement is not the issue here. It's how a normal program, not done well, can vulnerize your system (windows).

So you're saying that the installation of Wine is not working? Without providing any error messages, it's uncertain what is causing the problem. If Wine is installed correctly then you can use Winetool which configures wine and downloads specific MS software and other software that helps with running programs under Wine. If you can get winetools, it can help in some respect for running Windows programs, that's the only reason I suggested it. I can't guarantee that it will help you get Dreamweaver running under Wine though but if it comes to the crunch, I'll try getting Dreamweaver MX running under Wine and write a tutorial on it. I've just looked through Winetools and it does not indicate the installer for Dreamweaver, which doesn't mean it can't run on it, just it's not verified yet. Cheers, MC

It's good that you want to learn how to create programs, that's a start. We just need to know what types of programs you'd be interested and the direction you'd take e.g is this for a career or just a hobby. If it's for a career you must see what employers are looking for, which limits your choice of languages although these languages are still good to use. When I started out programming, I tried a myriad of languages before settling on something I felt had a lot of potential. That was C. If I were to choose a language now though without programming knowledge, it would probably be along the lines of learning Python fully. I think this language has potential to be bigger than what it's at now. Cheers, MC

Download a tool that complements Wine, called Winetool, it has some installers for software that has been tested to work under Wine. This may help you, though I don't use Dreamweaver and am unsure whether they have the installer for this. It might be possible to get Dreamweaver to work, but I haven't looked into this. Cheers, MC

Hi everybody, I am new to PHP sub-forum and this is my first post in this sub-forum. I have a problem and I need your assistance. I want to mod_rewrite my new website (yet to be hosted). However, before hosting it, I want to test my .htaccess file in my local server ( Server version : Apache 1.3.27 ). Although I have made the following modifications in my Apache Configuration File (httpd.conf) to enable mod_rewrite module: But, it is still not working for me. I tried out phpinfo()to check it. But it does not show mod_rewrite as a loaded module. Is there any other modifications/settings required to enable mod_rewrite module in Apache 1.3.27 ? Thanks in anticipation of some good suggestion.

Darkcloud 1 Or 2 anyone heard anything about a three?
iGuest replied to Vicious_AD's topic in Computer Gaming
I played part 1, it was sort of repetitive, but really fun game! It was a very early game so I give it that for being one of the best during it's time of release. I love some of the gameplay tactics they have, like what hurts what more, which person should you use and all that. Also, can't forget the thirst meter thingy they have. It was fun with the customizations with those weapons too.Now the fun part was the custom building location. The 'Sim City' part where you put where you think the icon/lands should go. It really makes you think and I had some fun figuring out which land each person wanted to be by. I think a 8.5/10 is well deserved for Dark Cloud 1.Dark Cloud 2, I only played a demo :/ Can't say how it really is... -
You should probably either go for Opera or FireFox. It's much more recommended BY ME to get Firefox because of what I feel from it, the safety and etc from it. You can just google the site and it'll give you it, just use the keywords. Try to stay away from the Internet Explorer from Microsoft unless you really think it's the best browser out there...

Sum Fucntion? Ive been searching the web for a sum fucntion but...
iGuest replied to Faint545's topic in Programming
Here's something I came up with #include <iostream>int sum(int arr[], int length){ int sum = 0; for(int i = 0, n = length; i < n; i++){ sum += arr[i]; } return sum;}int main(){ int test[] = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 }; int result = sum(test, sizeof(test)/sizeof(int)); std::cout << result << std::endl; return 0;} The problem with sending an array to a function is that the size information is lost, so you must send the size yourself. That is why I used sizeof(array)/sizeof(int); to work out the size of it. Cheers, MC -

Here is a new and upcoming band: Dredg Hope everyone likes it Notice from twitch: And? What type of band is it, do they have a website, what songs have they released, why do you like them? do you like them?. I understand this is your first post, so please in future take time and care to be more obvious in your posts. Bandwebsite: http://dredg.com/ Dredg is a progressive alternative band from Los Gatos, California. Their first studio album, Leitmotif, was released by the Universal music label on September 11, 2001. Prior to that, it had been self-released by the members of the band. After the album gained retail space, dredg acquired an almost immediate cult following, owing much to Leitmotif's unique sound and concept. There has also been a movie planned for release as a music video for the entire album, though the project has been stalled. El Cielo, their second album, is also a concept album. On June 21, 2005, dredg's third album, Catch Without Arms, was released. A video for the single "Bug Eyes" was released. In the spring of 2006, dredg plans to play on the Taste of Chaos tour.

To be honest, I don't really care unless it started happening to me.I have never liked state laws, or how they are used to control people's lives and how they live. Why not just make the whole country become a christian country, since it's the only reason why abortion is seen this way. Why not just staple the bible to the lawbook.Gay marriages, none of the governments business, Abortions, none of the governments business and treated with privacy. We could look at it this way, how can we keep the people happy? Well considering the majority is built up of christians, then stopping gay marriages and abortions will make a lot more people happy. Either that's an insult to the christian-like way, or the christian-like way is not to follow god, but to be god.Times will never change, people are still slaves and allow themselves to be treated like slaves. It's sad when religion is forced upon you, it's even sadder when you're outnumbered by christians in which this is the case, what's the point in having a voice, you're not going to be heard.MC

[php] Index.php?section=xx&pag=yy No MySQL or any other database
iGuest replied to Alexandre Cisneiros's topic in Programming
Unfortunately your code won't work correctly. Here's a fixed up version with a few additional things to check for: <?phpif(isset($_GET['page'])){ $page = (!empty(trim($_GET['page'])))? trim($_GET['page']) : false; if(!page){ exit(); } switch($page){ case 'news': include('news.php') or exit('<p>Sorry, the news page is missing.</p>'); break; case 'contact': include('contact.php') or exit('<p>Sorry, the contact page is missing.</p>'); break; default: include('main.php'); break; }}?> The changes for the fix, is that we're using the switch statement to check strings, which was incorrect with Hercco's code. Also setting the $page variable uses the ternary operator ?: which acts as a single if/else statement. e.g. it could be written as: if(!empty(trim($_GET['page'))){ $page = trim($_GET['page']);}else{ $page = false;} The reason for exiting the script, is because there's really nothing to do, and loading the default isn't something that they may want. However if the page requested is not one of the listed, then the default will load the main content, because obviously the changes would have been made manually, and you should have hardcoded what you wanted specified. Cheers, MC -

Hm.. yeah that's a bad thing. I wonder how it's done... or do you have to pay the taxes as yordan stated... And if it bombed... ouch. -
The problem with this is wouldn't the prices by higher than the normal price of gases are? If so, I'm pretty sure that most people wouldn't want to go for gas that costs more when there''s something cheaper. They'll do it for themselves, not for this world pretty much :/I don't think this source of energy is 'reliable' in the sense of it lasting to be bought by everyone wanting it. Maybe one day they'll have one that's actually cheaper than normal gasoline, and maybe even stronger at the same time That's the future of our world if we must survive !! MUHAHAH... now we just need to find that source...

What version of MySQL are you using?Do you have console access to it? Try to run mysql commandline and if you get the message 'does not support authentification...' (I think, it's been too long since I encounter these problems) then you're using the old incompatible passwords for the database, or you're using a new password but calling it by the old password.PHP 5 introduces mysqli, which is mysql improved. It's not backwards compatible with older databases, also depends on what database you're using, and whether it'd work.If you upgraded to PHP 5 and haven't upgraded the database, you should do that too, following the upgrade directions from mysql's manual.Cheers,MC

Haha that's neat, I never knew this before. So con was really a way for people to make an easy way to mess up someone's computer? That's pretty neat and crazy at the same time. I'm suprised though that you couldn't make a file named con. Just kinda like one of those old programs I used where I couldn't use cuss words >_< Anyways, new to me really. I wonder if there's anything else that is blocked from being used as the title and stuff XD

Need Suggestion To Improve DOTA Skills And Strategies strategies
iGuest replied to jcguy's topic in Computer Gaming
You first need to know what you think you'd be best at; which character to choose. I used to choose random a lot when I first played, just to see which character would be the best for me. AFter awhile I found out I like far reach and ways to stop people from moving. So I went with the ice sorcerror since she's what I needed. It just depends on what you need at first. Experiment with every character that you can. After that you can begin learning how to play like a real pro. -
I'm one for the PSP still. The DS is very unique and original in it's own way, the PSP is too and it's own way. The DS has that cool touch screen and games that inact accordingly to it. The PSP has a multitude of possibilities to it like music, networking, movies... homebrew >_> ... but at a price of course. So I think it's the PSP that rules out everything and is champ, but the DS is still very good in my opinion. I think the DS is more of a family type system, and the PSP as a lone system, like used when you have nothing to do or just want to do something while sleeping on the bed.
