New Virus Alert! Especially for those MSN messenger users
Trekkie101 replied to Xevian's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Yes but these viruses mostly are harmless, some have been looked at code wise and all they do is spread, run a Virus scan its gone, theres nothing it does hust spreads itself. Also its kinda your own fault to take files you dont know what there gonna do. Aslong as people dont actually start believeing messages can be viruses which ive roared at like 4 people today alone. I actually scared one of them with a PHP script. -

Actually that looks a lot better, spinning a video to a note and viewing webpages from behind and well wow, that was cool. And he was right about the one dominant company needing a good shake.

Error 406 - Problem In My Phpbb Forum Actually a problem with Apache
Trekkie101 replied to hihihihi88's topic in Software
Its to do with the phpBB serach system it logs all words and the word "system" along with plenty others is called a MySQL stop word, MySQL uses stop words to stop servers becomming over loaded, phpBB's silly search method is at its mercy and this causes this to happen when you post the word. Breaking it up is all you can do. -
I STRONGLY recomend you get rid of this enitre topic now, the minute companys like WebSense see this and they do through searches using google will ban this site on the spot, they wont allow it, they do it all the time, even subtle hints get blocked. You may wish to do this soon!

Security Issue? Cpanel name showing up in Information
Trekkie101 replied to wwheeler's topic in Websites and Web Designing
The load is minimal, grabbing something from a DB is nanoseconds work. Its not really a security risk at all, people claim chmod 777 is a security risk its not. Theres nothing wrong with the way it works and your forum username and cpanel username are the same so it wouldnt provide you anymore protection, plus set a 15 digit password and crackers will even struggle, plus they prove inefective to people how make a good password. -
Although im a Notepadder, I do use Context! http://blogic14.blogspot.de/ and it works with all languages, just a new highlighter needs to be made, sure it cant run the files but its nothing to keep a browser window open. Context is a fabulous program. But I used to use frontpage but I use notepad for my basic HTML work. I used to love GUI editors but now i only use text based.

LMAOThe RV Skin is one of the Top skins, that had to be paid for, X is just default. I do like X in the fact that its simple and faster to use but RV Skin brongs out a whole new light and is very cool. If the admin went to the trouble of buying it i wouldnt bet on getting rid of it although the choice in it would be good.

Neither :PSMF is a better choice for anything. It is as good as any paid software and has the commu8nity of a free software. I doubt theres a better choice.3 Click Install mods with its Package ManagerThemes are only a few clicks away and VERY easy just upload the tar.gz and SMf does the restTop Notch support aswellVery easy to use Admin CP and powerful if neededVery user friendly

Should I Go To Trap 17 Or Astahost Im not so impressing...
Trekkie101 replied to friso's topic in Web Hosting Support
Actually i would say stay, you can contribute what you know and learn a ton that you can use in future posts, youll learn here, maybe not at trap 17 but if you find it too hard then maybe go but I would stay. -
I dunno but my OS would be built using Firefox as the explorer , pure all my code, open source, non-*nix and non-win and non-apple just purely mine and if I can do that I would code all the programs I needed. Surely some of my friends would help me aswell.

Ms Blocking Of Wine Users.. Is It Legal !?
Trekkie101 replied to qwijibow's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Hmm horrible people. I already hate authenticity junk but ive learned to live with it but im sure there will be a way round this we all know Microsoft dont make the best programs or code properly so getting past it will only take time. -
Oh google webspace would be great, php, mysql, and all that would be great from google but I would still be here. They really need some sort of community, we all know there nice but why no community.

So you want to build a 100% compliant XHTML site? Well although I cant guide you whole way im going to give some basics on some interesting things Ive found and use for my sites. First thing you will need is a Doctype, this tells the browser how its to use the HTML and how it should function. You dont always need one but it wont be complieant in XHTML if you dont give one If you arent using anything that gives specific instructions not to, put the doctype on the VERY first line and make sure there is NO white space <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//"W3C/DTD xhtml 1.0 Transitional //EN" "DTD/xhtml-transitional.dtd"> Next you need to tell the browser that its HTML your playing with but XHTML <html>> Next you will add the head info to tell the browser about the page simply by using <head> Now heres the stuff the browser likes to read. <meta http-equiv="Copyright" content="Trekkie101" />Will tell the browser that the page is copywrit to you, incase someone wants to copy they will know who owns it. <meta http-equiv="Keywords" content="IHS, Inverkeithing, E-Zine, ezine, IHS ezine" />Will tell certain search engines what your page is about and what to do if a search term matching your Kerywords is input, you may even get the number 1 spot <meta http-equiv="Author" content="The IHS E-Zine" />Tell the browser who wrote the code and who the author of the masterpiece is <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html";charset=UTF-8" />Some of you may have had the "Tenativly Valid" note that just means it doesnt know what Charset you want so tell it this and it will then git rid of that message and set the charset to UTF-8 <meta http-equiv="Description" content="The Inverkeithing High School E-Zine"Google and other search engines give little descriptions and displays that on the results page. Well this will give that info if requested. <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="Tue, 1 Mar 2005 00:00:00 GMT" />Some computer caches also like to look at the expiry dates of a site then refresh all the data after this date, this can be useful if updating often but not always needed. To name your page add <title> NAME HERE </title> And finally end it with </head> Edit the content="HERE" as required Now thanks for reading, all the <meta http-equiv> things can be left out but are useful sometimes for sending data to the viewer and help search engines some times. This is Part 1 Part 1 (The Starting - Dcotype - Head) Part 2 (Some useful HTML) Part 3 (Compliant Flash that works in most browsers, and other advanced HTML) The other two should be written soon! All this was copied from my school's e-zine that I head up
