Ever really tried working with SMF, ever actually tried making yuor own skin, you will find they are all clutered as SMF has those options and people dont want rid of them. But I assure SMF can be a basic as you want it. It can be as small as you want or as big, the template engine of SMF is unique and powered only by your mind, also if all people dont try something out, something new it would never grow, sure theres "this grass is green enough" but the grass over there is better, we dont need to move, but it would be a good idea. phpBB has been on feature lock for about 2 years now, all other forums are still more advanced in some ways than them.

Yeah but you just opened a hole in your logic, IPB lied, they offered a free product and the changed it fully, many hate them for that, and vB is much better coded than IPB, but you forgot to mention the free ones, SMF code is built around security, then its built around usefullness then it deals with looking good. Why dont you look at how SMF is coded very logical and useful. SMF have an excellent track record also for dealing with bugs, not had any big exploits yet.

I would recomend moving from phpBB, in my opinion its seen its glory days and they have gone. (This is MY opinion not a host decision) They are a huge target now with the code being insecure, I present to you SMF, Simple Machines Forum from the makers of YaBBSE, Yabbse wasnt anything to sing about but now SMF is, its in RAPID development, I mean, theres the current release 1.0.3 and 1.1 is already stable, although we wont be seeing 1.1 for months its gonna be as easy as the rest of the SMF updates (Clocked 5 seconds!). SMF has a package manager that automatically installs mods you want so you dont need to touch the code. It has over 85 themes already. Its been rated by several people to be better than paid software, also it is free and can handle any load. Pre-loading would fix that, just give them a hard drive, they could preload, what 20GB in advance? And continue deleting and writing new data and that would take of that.

lol yeah happened to me before. Had a 3GB hard disk and 14GB DVD, lol that was fun, I actually tried to use the DVD as a hard disk but it burnt out the disk after a while although it was cool. Actually no its not, Windows is doing great for me, stable and running for about 4 days now (maybe not a lot) it hasnt slowed down and does what I ask it to, its a lot better than it used to be, I know linux/mac/bsd's are probably more stable but I wouldnt put windows down so much, it can if properly setup and used work like a charm.

Yeah KDE does have a real nice amnd fun interface, I tried gnome but to me it was plain and windows 95ish so after a look at others KDE was amazing. Ive never tried the translucency though, ill need to test that one. I like the idea of holigrams also that would make computing a lot more fun but until that day ill need to try out all these little things.

SMF was updated this morning my time. SMF 1.1 is udner development and is currently in Beta phase to selected people. SMF 1.0.3 is the current public release and has all the latest secuirty and other bugs solved. Its worth the update so hop to it.
